Nurien continues to grow as a dungeon quite successfully, but before his plans and ideas can mature on how to face Jennesar, he may be forced to move early by his enemy’s actions. His greatest ally is secrecy, and his greatest fear is being declared a rogue dungeon. Sometimes, great risks must be taken, including ones not his own as Ebony and Lila spread their own wings.
Catalina continues to grow as a mage, and is deep in mourning for her loss. She has no choice but to grow as more and more as her father gives her the heir’s responsibilities, which are heavy on her shoulders. She will be tested.
Carlton is a wanted man, but he isn’t going to let that stop him. He’ll find a way to gather evidence and expose the truth, or he’ll die trying. Carlton is many things, but never a quitter. Will it be enough or is his desperate plan too much of a long shot?
As Jennesar raises the stakes, Nurien, Catalina, and Carlton have no choice but to put everything on the line.
I was born and raised on Long Island and always had two hobbies...
I loved computers, and I read books voraciously.
I've been working in the computer industry for twenty years, and have continued to read a large number of books. On a whim, I started writing erotic short stories online, and to my surprise they were always highly rated, and more than that, I found I loved to write. Since then I have worked at improving my writing, and started publishing on Amazon.
For the first half of the book, this suffers a bit from being the middle book in a trilogy - nothing really important is happening. However, about halfway through, Rosier entwines the two major plots much more closely, and the story picks up pace.
There are significant developments for the major characters - Nurien, Lila, Catalina, and Ebony - and many of the minor characters, and more of the backstory is filled in. The annoying grammatical and spelling errors are (mostly) gone, which is good; the level of raunch is increased from the first book (although probably not enough for this to class as erotica, although YMMV); and the story doesn't end in a cliffhanger - certainly, not all of the plotlines are tied up, but it is at a point at which one could stop reading with some feeling of completion. Which is somewhat of a good thing, as the final book hasn't been released yet, so I don't have a choice but to stop here (until book 3 is out anyway).
Rosier's writing remains easy to read, and his characters are consistent with how they are portrayed in the first book. So far, this has been a fun series - light fantasy, not too deep - and an enjoyable read.
A great sequel to the first book. I think someone mentioned an editor would also help improve the book but, my opinion is the improvement wouldn't be extremely significant. The writing in this series is better than the stedman series books. This book may be classified as erotic fiction and litrpg. However I don't think the eroticism is any more blatant or stark than the usual romance. I do think you would have to add the tag harem as there is no better way to describe Ebony and Lila.
I really like how the author brought all of the characters into the story together. It was a natural progression as the story developed. Once again I am cheering for Nurien and Nysten. I wished I knew how much longer to wait for #3.
I don't go much above 4 stars any more, but this is so totally a class act that it wouldn't be right to do less than 5. Definitely adult level sex. But hey, just look at the cover art.
Lots to really like, but I think the LGBT aspects deserve special mention. They're written and included as would any other slice of life characters and events. A lot of other authors end up with stilted narratives or characters that approach caricatures or stereotypes. (Not that some aren't totally fun and lovable.) Kudos.
This is an excellent well-written sequel that expands on pretty much everything the first book started. It also provides a great stage for further books. The series is interesting, and isn't your average "Dungeon Lit" story. The *cough* physical relationships in the story are also crafted well, highlighting the underlying relationships involved, rather than being simply gratuitous eros. I'm interested in seeing what happens next! Recommended.
From all the book the author wrote from his/her different pen names this was the most complete and amazing one. The sex in it was carefully roses and I loved it, not less or not too much. The changes in Nurien are good, he became less of an anti social and Ebony is so awesome I like her best.
I love the characters and plot of this book. The sex is mostly subtle, but a few scenes ride the graphic line. This book's major flaw is the absence of a good copyeditor to correct the frequent grammatical errors that any author makes. Writers...pay for editing...it is worth it. Readers...read this book.
Surprised how much I enjoyed this book. The litRPG genre much like the isekai manga genre is just saturated with derivative stories and bad writing but this was not one of those. The plot is mostly expected but there was a pleasant surprise here and there. I picked it up for simple light reading but I find myself actually impatient for the next book which is always a compliment to the author imo.
But was back hale and whole later. At one point Timothy is called Jerrod. At the start of the big battle it says all magic expect dark was used, very next line is dark magic being used. Little confusing. All in all I enjoyed this book and I wish more of this author's work was on KU. Oh well guess I won't be reading those books.
I really enjoy the writing style and have grown to really enjoy the characters... I know he said it was a trilogy but I picture it running into a rehired book and couldn't be happier with that prospect as it means more to read.
The author loves to tease and bring conflict to the characters. She develops the characters and their feelings for each other through action and conflict showing the different emotions each character is feeling.
I had fun ready it. The story is progressing at a good pace from one book to the other. I would have like to get more detail one what happened to the king and her father. I would have also like to get more details on the upper level of the church as an organization.
I realized what this author does well is that he gives the reader a sense that the MC is progressing, things never get stale and they're always fun to watch...10/5 can't wait for the next one.
Enjoyed both books in this series so far. Now, heading off to read book three after four more words. Silly word minimum on review. Sometimes it's enough to simply say book was so good I am headed for the next one.
Real Character Development in this one, in my opinion this is the best of the 3part series. Its in the sweetspot of beeing established with all the groundwork, which allows more complex and interesting happenings but hasn't reached the point where something new has to happen/is forced.
Same issue as last book, no where near enough detail though I kind of enjoyed this one a bit more. Maybe because he was a little more invested in the happenings around him.
A dungeon builder story. Does have adult content. The story continues from the first book. The dungeon expands with war around the corner. Looks to continue in the next book.
