How to accessorize had some good points but mostly we all know about everything that was mentioned. I am a fashionista an truly was nodding everytime. I love glitter, diamonds and tiaras. Cowboy boots are fun and everyone should own a pair. Velvet looks great any time of year. Statement earrings with matching necklace is fun. I think if you can rock the style then who cares about rules. Let's all live a happy, colorful and glittery life. Be your own self and have fun with colors and style. You will be surprised with the outcome. Be different and embrace art with fashion.
I find myself at the end of this etremely disappointed. I felt like I could totally work cowboy boots, but apparently I'm not a fashionista so they don't work. Likewise I've been informed that I can only wear droplet earrings instead of Chandaliers like I originally wanted.
(*SIGH*)
I can at least take comfort in the fact I learned how to wear hairbands the right way now, and the importance of not using lingerie as a centerpiece of my fashion ensemble.
I wish this book had more pictures and examples of how to wear accessories. All the illustrations wear pencil drawings, which were well done, but I would have liked photographs of real jewelry, etc on real woman. I had hoped to see outfit ideas and what accessories to wear with the outfit. You can pick up this book to get an idea of what accessories are out there which was nice, but I wanted real life examples that I can pair with a look. Still a nice book, just wasn't a great book.
I dunno. I kept reading it thinking there would be something new I'd learn, some new insight on matching colors, on when should I wear my new capri leggings that I'm terrified of, how do I wear my new cowboy boots (which I adore) without looking like a dork? Turn out, you either match colors by more-of-the-same, or go completely-different. Capri leggins? No mention that I saw. Cowboy boots? I guess I'm on my own there cause they should have been left for the cowboys. sigh.....
The book was very short, read it in an hour. But I didn't learn anything except that perhaps I should shop for more shoes and belts?
This book was a waste of time because it contained no new info. AAMOF, unless it was geared to preteens or the newly de-institutionalized, it serves no one I could think of. All the "rules" contained therein would have been known to anyone who grew up in or near civilization. And then, there are the ones she must have made up: no leather shoes at night, no platform stilettoes... you see what I mean. Skip it.
Learned ZERO. I don't remember much attention about a person's shape when selecting accessories and NO mention of stockings matching shoes, even. I was encouraged to buy more bags (I own mostly backpacks, which are ignored) and shoes (I have mostly casual footwear). It's a pretty little book, though, with illustrations but no photos. A quick read but likely a wasted hour.
This books explains what accessories are...so if you don't know a hobo from a clutch you may find some value. Did not learn a single new styling tip. Very low level...might be a good book for a teenager.
I was a little surprised how abrupt the ending is. It really felt a little rushed, and more about basic style points. I don’t think there was anything here that stood out as more interesting than just basic information.
I gave this great little guide book 5 starts because not only did it had some great tips and pointers, But after meeting the Author, and hearing her discussing this book and her passion for her field was amazing. A great little go to book for minor fashion pointers
I loved this book! I found the information helpful and inspiring. And the size is perfect to keep on your night stand or even in your closet for quick reference. Sure most of the information has already been covered but it’s great to have an all inclusive resource.
Such a beautiful book physically. So little thought seems to go into the book itself these days. I enjoyed this read about styling and the added rules of fashion. Ms Erlanger has a teaching way about her.
Valid ideas and explanation. As a fashion novice, I needed more. Pictures, more examples, outfit ideas to go with what what described...this ultimately left me with more questions than I started with.
