Bitcoin is not just a new word in the Internet age or technological and financial progress, it's a start of a new era on the Earth! Even 10 years ago we even couldn't imagine dreaming about digital money - you can't physically touch them but you can own and spend them. Today this is a reality! Bitcoin revolution covered the whole world like a huge wave, more and more people interested in this "Digital Gold". Over the past few years, Bitcoin has grown from something known only to a select few tech nerds into a revolutionary currency that has rapidly changed the way that we think about the concept of money. You no doubt see Bitcoin payments accepted in all kinds of places now, but, if you can believe it, it used to be a fairly complicated procedure for finding places that let you pay in Bitcoin.
Anyway, to run the world you need to know everything. We can't guarantee that you will know EVERYTHING from this book, but we can guarantee you will have the notion of a new currency - Bitcoin. What is it? Where did it come from? How do you use it? Is it really just fake internet money created by drug dealers? That is precisely what we will be answering in this book. We’ll cover everything you need to know in order to get started with
Also, the author will share with you interesting facts about Bitcoin and will give you professional tips on the start of your way in Bitcoin family!
Ready to take on the Bitcoin world yet? I hope so. I’d like to be the first to officially welcome you to the world of Bitcoin!
Loved reading this book. I wasn't sure at first but after I got started I couldn't put it down. This is a very well written book. It will tell you everything you need to know and helps you get started and so much more. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
For a book that's called "Mastering Bitcoin for Starters/Dummies", it's very introductory. Every chapter includes a phrase along the lines of "this is just an introduction to this topic, not enough room in this book to discuss further. For more info check here or research yourself". If you know absolutely nothing about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin this book is worth a skim. Just check your library or get the $1 kindle version. Don't pay more than that.
.....about bitcoin, this fantastic little gem of information appears in your suggested books. Glad I purchased it and would highly recommend it to those curious about cryptocurrency.
I was expecting a little more specifics on Bitcoin since the title of the book starts with "Mastering Bitcoin for Starters.....". It was more of a summary about Bitcoin.
I’ve read two weak books before about this matter and I assure this is the best book if you want to know what is the bitcoin system.
I really enjoy the structure of the book. The author explain all the concepts and the possibilities to use a digital coin in the simpler way comparing to other authors.
It is positive the interests in creating a sense of community about the Bitcoin. The author shows that is not just an easy way to invest money and the system only works if people use their coins to buy things or if people use your computers to keep the security or help building the blockchain.
I also love the action chapters: what is a wallet, how to get one, how buy bitcoins and sell it, etc. Truly practical.
The book is not oriented for non-US citizens in some parts. For instance when he talks about the main exchange traders. It was tough to me find a way to buy bitcoins with my credit card (not American). The fees is too expensive. I think he could mention that in the book.
Also there is not high technician explanations about how it works the cryptography and the blockchain mechanics. Personally I love this trait and like the author promises this book is for dummies like me.
In sum, I definitely recommend this book to understand all the concepts.
This is a solid introduction. I was hoping for something a little bit more technical and in-depth, as I did not really learn very much I didn't already know...but it's a good refresher and would be an excellent intro to the topic for someone just trying to figure out what the hype is about. That being said, I do think the author is a bit too much of a crypto-utopian (is that a thing?). Lots of discussion about AMAZINGNESS of bitcoin, not too much discussion of the limitations or the ways that it has led to potentially more innovative currencies - and I think that that would have been a very productive discussion to offer in the book. Oh well, maybe in a future edition. The author does seem pretty invested in continual updates, so hopefully a later edition will include this. Either way, for 0.99 or whatever it is definitely a good introduction!
So this is a great book if you know absolutely nothing, nothing at all about Bitcoin. If you've read even a few good news articles though, it's not very helpful. The one caveat would be that he does provide a lot of good websites where you can go digging for more useful information. He also had a lot of grammatical errors, which I found irritating.
Touches upon how it works, but really only breezes past anything substantial. Mostly a gee whiz omg type of review. It is worth a dollar to buy this book, but not more.
Very apt title. This book explains to the complete novice what bitcoin is about. Not too much that it's overwhelming, but enough to pique your interest in the subject.
You can read this book in two of hours or less if your familiar with bitcoin and the blockchain(not worth my money). It's a book that I would give a 10 year old to learn Bitcoin/Blockchain. I would say this book is bellow beginners level.
I opened this book knowing exactly nothing about Bitcoin. This book was a wonderful introductory guidebook that explains in the simplest of ways what Bitcoin is and how it works, and provides resources for readers who wish to learn more and take part in Bitcoin themselves.
This is a fantastic summary on the basics of bitcoin. I enjoyed reading it. It helps that it’s written in very simple language suitable for non-techies
Good intro which nevertheless left me with many questions. Author could have done a better job addressing security concerns and how to keep bitcoins safe.
A very informative place to start, very simple and easy to understand. I do believe bitcoins will be around for a long time. I do believe that I am now going to dive in!
I was hesitant to give it 4 stars. The book is more historically informative, with basic info, and links to websites. Not much technical information, which was what I was after. I had learned most of the information from Googling before reading this book since Cryptocurrency is becoming more popular. Still informative though if you don't know anything. There is a Bitcoin documentary on Netflix so ebooks for starters need to step up their game. On to the next book for me.
