The second book was even better than the first. More to view, discuss, wonder about, imitate, and be inspired by for my kids and me.

I love these books. It is so fun to look at pictures whether you like them or not. As the daughter of an art historian, we always had pretty pictures around. Even if you don't like the pictures, it can really open a dialogs with kids.

The most engaging children’s art book series I have ever used with my kids. Ideal for elementary-aged children, or even older, if they haven’t had much art education.

Phaidon Press's "The Art Book for Children-Book Two" is both an art history lesson and inspirational guide in one. If I were a teacher I'd definitely keep a copy in my classroom so I could teach my students about David Hockney, Albrecht Durer, Henri Matisse and the other great artists featured in the book. Published in 2007 it also has samples of works by a group of a wonderful contemporary artists like Marcel Broodthaers, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Arman and Robert Mangold.
In addition to introducing such classics as Thomas Gaineborough's painting "Mr. and Mrs. Andrews" and Wassily Kandinsky's "Composition No. VII," the book has background history about the artists in the "Want to know more?" section and within the text of the descriptions in each section, and there are profound questions to ponder as you view the works too. The ones that really inspired me, and made me think, were the questions in the "JUNK" chapter about the artist Arman who was known for collecting and displaying objects, he called "accumulations," before his death in 2005. The questions, "Do you collect things?" and "What could you do with your collections of things?' stayed with me and caused me to rethink my display choices with my own collectibles.
Exquisitely photographed and organized this book isn't just a great aesthetic treat it's also an excellent reference book for art enthusiasts of all ages.

This book is marketed to children, but is equally engaging for adults! Via two-page spreads, it presents works by 30 artists, from varied time periods and geographic locations. Written in a conversational style, it challenges the observer to note features of the art, and gives some background about each artist. It's easily read in one sitting, but it would also make a nice daily retreat for readers, and last for a month!

This book is great for children to read and explore information about different artists. Critical discussions around artists work and the chance to look at different art styles always provides good opportunities for children to research and recreate different artists work, whilst learning all about different techniques and mediums.

I am calling this read. We got most of the way through before COVID-19 shut down the libraries and I couldn't get it back for the rest of the school year.

"The Art Book For Children: Book Two” written by Phaidon Press is a large, children’s non-fiction book with a collection of various famous pieces of artwork. Each piece of artwork has information about it and the artist on the opposite page. There are even questions about the paintings that invoke the reader. One of my favorite examples is the Chutes and Ladders painting that was painted by Fernand Leger.

This is a great informational book for elementary students. It is large with lots of pictures. It provides great details about several pieces of famous art.
