The first memory Boone has is running. Hunted by magical forces beyond his understanding, he crash lands in the forest outside the sleepy Irish village of Derrydun. It’s there he meets the odd and slightly eccentric Aileen, the last of the Crescent Witches…and discovers he’s lost who he is. Boone is a shapeshifter, a human born with extraordinary powers, and he’s wanted. By what or whom, he doesn’t remember. With his memory locked away by unknown forces, he soon learns there is nothing he can do to regain them…unless he steps outside of the protection of the ancient hawthorn and faces the darkness that awaits him. When he finally gathers the courage to cross the boundary, what he finds is only the beginning of his problems. Magic is being hunted…to extinction.

Prequel to the Crescent Witches series, not sure why this is listed as Book 4 but glad I read this one first. Enjoyable novella, and seems like a good kickoff for the rest of the series. Am intrigued by Boone’s unknown backstory and growing powers, and looking forward to seeing how he and Skye will interact. 4 stars.
I enjoyed this book, and gave it 5 stars, but I think it would have helped me enjoy the series a little more if this had been Book 1. I don’t usually read additional books after a story has “finished,” but this series was EXCELLENT, so I read it. It was fun reading more about Boone, but it was a serious book, full of mystery and action.
Like peaking into an old friends mind! So many things explained but still a sense of loss of an old friend. Books I love are like losing a friend when they end, sad and bewildering.
Ms. Taylor must love Ireland because she describes it so well. It is a land with many mysteries and histories that make for an intriguing story. This the 4th book of the series and it ties everything in a nice little bow.
Nice to read about Boones part in the Crescent saga, really good read and now I have a new series to read, well done Nicole and thank for the free book to start in the next page turning saga.
I'm glad I got to read Boone's side and how he ended up there. Throughout the other stories in this series, it hints but never gave away the full story. He was at the mercy of his mother just like the rest. But he was not to blame.
Great prequel that serves either a good introduction to the series or gives you a little more information about one of the characters from the main series.
I was really enjoying this one. Povs can be alot of fun and this one met up tovthat but was over waaaaaaayyyy to soon. It could have gone much further.
