True Destiny #6

Hide and Seek

There’s nowhere she can hide from his love.
True Destiny Book 6

Antonia “Toni” Mancinelli, former cop and newborn Valkyrie, has agreed to look for a missing Goddess. An easy thing for a tough, South Philly cop, right?
Ha. Nothing with this crew is easy, and Toni has discovered that the least easy of them all is determined to take over her life. Worse, no one can find who took Sydney, not even a man who can observe the whole world at Heimdall, the Guardian of the Bifrost Bridge. Without his help the odds of finding the missing Goddess will be nearly impossible, but resisting his advances will take the case from difficult to downright insane.
Nikolas de Witt, aka Heimdall, fell in love with Toni the moment he met her, but like the Valkyrie she is she's fought him valiantly at every step. Using his missing friend's disappearance to smooth his way with his lady love would be considered reprehensible if he wasn’t aware that Toni cared for him right back. His skittish female might think she can hide her heart from him, but there's nothing in this world or any other that will stop him from claiming what is his.
Swords and sorcery dodge their steps. Nik must save the girl to get his woman, or everything he’s worked so hard for could be lost.

Dana Marie Bell wrote her first short story when she was thirteen years old. She attended the High School for Creative and Performing Arts for creative writing, where freedom of expression was the order of the day. When her parents moved out of the city and placed her in a Catholic high school for her senior year she tried desperately to get away, but the nuns held fast, and she graduated with honors despite herself.

Dana has lived primarily in the Northeast (Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, to be precise), with a brief stint on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. She lives with her soul-mate and husband Dusty, their two maniacal children, an evil ice-cream stealing cat and a bull terrier that thinks it’s a Pekinese.

Great as always. But I hope you have your notes ready from the others books as your going need them. It hard to keep with with everyone - human names, god names, powers, moms & dads, kids, and whoever is related. Especially since it has been awhile since the last book was published. Sadly I lost my family trees I made so I had to re due those which has hella annoying. But once I re did the family trees and got everything in order it was smoother sailing. I'm really looking forward to the next book hopefully we don't have to wait three years again.

This series would greatly benefit from a character description/list and glossary. Hell even a family tree. 😁. It would help lots of readers if there was one in the book.

This is an awesome book. Dana Marie Bell is one of my favorite authors. She has done each series, she writes wonderfully. This book using the Norse gods and goddesses are great. She takes the actual stories of them and works them into a suspenseful tale which takes you between the Earth and the lands of the paranormal. A must read.

Heather's Notes
So this was a good story and I liked Toni and Nick. However, the storyline went no where. There are no more stories but hopefully the author will write more (she has been having health issues). I would like to see what happens.

hmmm. I wanted to give 3.5 stars because I really am starting to have a problem with the latest trend that every romance book I read the h has to give up her career and her way of life in one form or another, and none more so than in this story.
However I am leaving it at 4 stars because despite that being my pet peeve of late I did enjoy the story.
I stopped reading Dana Marie Bell's work for some reason, it was before I started reviewing as a reminder to myself on goodreads so I don't know why, but one thing I do know is that at one time I liked this authors work so much I binge read everything she had out at that time, (so since I have all the ebooks still on my kindle I will be going back and re-reading all of those).
There were lots of things I enjoyed in this story but I have to give a small whine here, it's best to be up to date with the other books in this series, and possibly know a little about norse mythology, because all the different characters both good and bad in this are intense and at times I felt my head was going to explode with trying to keep the different names straight. (they all seem to have two names, which makes things really hard at times to remember who's who in the zoo).
I am looking forward to more in this series.

Toni has been dropped into a world most mortals are unaware exist. She has tried to remain separate but when her help is needed she can’t refuse. Now if only she can resist Nik.

Hide and Seek is the latest installment in Dana Marie Bell’s True Destiny series. I really like Toni. She is a force to be reckoned with even as a human surrounded by Gods. She refuses to let her being mortal stop her from her job. I love that she manages to bother Nik without trying. She completes him but is fighting it. And I love their battles. But Nik…I adore Nik. He seems so alone. He is the “Guardian” and that takes a toll. I love that Ms. Bell allowed us and Toni to see the very nature of Nik. While he has not had the trust of this dysfunctional family it is clear he has their back, even if they can’t see that. And I hurt for Nik. Toni gives Nik someone who sees him and I am glad that Ms. Bell gave him that. I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to this series. I loved seeing how this family comes together. It is well written and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Can't wait for more

This is the story of Toni, a police detective and newborn Valkyrie. In the last book, she met and fell for Heimdall, the Guardian of the Bifrost Bridge, otherwise named Nik.
She is a strong independent woman who is trying to find Sydney after she was kidnapped. She asked for Nik's help but he told her no not yet. But since she is stubborn and wants her way she does it on her own. When he is finally allowed to help her, Frederica(Freya) set a trap of Jotuns and Nadine. Toni gets hurt and Nik shares his blood to try to help her along with Kir(Baldur) sharing his a day later.
This book reveals the King of the dark elves. It is also shows us where Ryker (Jörmungandr) is. Ragnarok is in site, but they still must triumph over Grimm(Odin) first.
I love this series and wish that it would never end. But of course, all good things must end.
If you love mythology and any kind of relationship, whether menage, m/f or m/m, and like excitement then this series is for you.

BEWARE, THIS IS AN INCOMPLETE SERIES !

This series should come with a warning. After purchasing six books and spending all that money one would believe the conclusion to the story is available. IT IS NOT !Though it has been seven years since the author has added any books to the series I dont see one coming any time soon. The storyline of this series starting with book one through book six is about the Norse Gods and the myths about them. Ms. Bell does a great job giving them " normal
" lives as they struggle to appear human and get on with their lives. The old fueds are still going . Odin as a " modern" known as Grimm and is evil as can be. He keeps all the gods beholden and loyal to him by drugging them with the Idun apples. He is trying to prevent ragnarok and the prophecy of Odins death. Problem is the books stop short of the conclusion leaving the reader hanging. The last book was published in 2017 so so disappointing.

So good.

I love Nik and Toni. He is a lost soul, so strong and powerful but Toni takes care of him without realising he needs her too. Loved the scene with Toni and the nine moms! Hilarious! The story is growing and growing. I can’t wait for Kye and Ryker’s story.
