ENTRETENIDO!!
Sheltered by the SEAL by Amy Gamet Genres: Adult (very mild intimate scenes), Contemporary, Crime, Mystery, Romance, Suspense 4.5 Stars
The two MC's, Jessa McConnell and Jax Andersson are great characters. You really feel connected to them. They are very well written. There is suspense, action, twist and turns on virtually every page. It definitely keeps you involved in the story. The writing itself flows easy and smooth. I really enjoyed the story. I did find 2 minor errors. But my only real problem with them is the intimate scenes. They tend to be a bit rushed and not quite detailed enough. They really need to be more descriptive. They just need to be taken up about 2 notches. They will start to get steamy, then fade to black. Until I see her up these sections of her stories, I cannot give her more than 4 stars.
Sheltered by a SEAL by Amy Gamet Inheritance #12 and HERO Force #2
When you have lost the love of your life and his child, still in your womb, you must go through the five stages of grief before moving on and that is just what Jessa is in the midst of doing. With her anger focused Jax “Ace” Andersson – she has determined he is the one to pay and give her pound of flesh. Poor unsuspecting Jax! One night is all it took for their lives to become entwined though it took a lot longer for them to work their way through the minefield left in the wake of Jax’s divorce, the widowing of Jessa and the hit put out on the inheritor of a seemingly valueless book.
I enjoyed this story and having read book one in the HERO Force book liked meeting up with characters in the series. I have to say that I was angry with Jessa during the first half or so of the book but that gradually changed over time. The interactions were intense, the dialogue at times cutting, the emotions intense and the story worth reading. I am not sure that the recuperative powers of both Jax and Jessa would have been as rapid as portrayed in the last bit of the book – not after sustaining the injuries they did – but it is fiction and the two did need a bit of cuddling so – why not fudge a bit.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – this is my honest review.
4.5 Stars
NOTE: The 5 stages of grief and loss are: 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3. Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance. People who are grieving do not necessarily go through the stages in the same order or experience all of them. (for those that might not know what they are)
1 🌟 for the half assed mystery plot. The romance was awfully done, the characters were so unlikeable. Rtc when I have the energy to actually rant about this.
This book left me with plenty of mixed feelings. The writing was good and the mystery and intrigue surrounding the inheritance was well written but several elements of the story just did not appeal to me. An angry widow with an axe to grind has sex with the man responsible for making a decision that killed her husband and her unborn child, in the hopes of becoming pregnant. Months later she gets a fake identification and moves across the country to leave her heartbroken memories and any chance of retribution behind, only to be found and taken prisoner by her child's father. He actually manhandles her and handcuffs her to a bed so she won't disappear again now that he knows she's pregnant, and holds her against her will until she realizes she loves him. Some readers may enjoy this type of romance but I'm not one of them. I think this is a matter of personal choice because I have read and enjoyed other books in her Hero Force series. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
Jax, the gentlest, caring, most compassionate man I've read about in a long time......he didn't deserve what Jessa did to him, nor the way she treated him, but he stood up and acted like a real man should. Jax is my HERO!!!!!
Barely tolerable characters. She lied to him to get pregnant (consent!), and he stalked her and violated her privacy repeatedly and then imprisoned her. Wow, so romantic. Ugh.
Jax is the head of HERO Force, a group of ex military men, who take on missions that can't necessarily be sanctioned by the government. After losing one of his men, and best friends, Jax was torn between his loyalty to his friend and his love for the widow. Now, over a year later, Jax is pleased that he can deliver the news to Ralph's widow, Jessa, that they eliminated the man responsible for his death. Except, Jessa's reception of Jax and his news is less than welcoming...in fact, she's downright hostile! Jessa is still harboring hatred towards Jax and HERO Force! After all, Jax took everything from her...her husband and her baby. Now he must pay. She plans on sleeping with Jax to get pregnant...to, sort of, replace the baby that she lost. Except she has no plans on sharing this information with Jax. Once the deed is done, Jessa disappears. She refuses Jax's calls, assumes a new identity and moves! But once Jax catches up with Jessa and discovers that she's in danger from an unknown source, he has no intention of leaving her alone...much less when he discovers that she's carrying his child! While I really enjoyed this plot and the guys of HERO Force, Jessa acted on my last nerve! She allowed her anger at Jax, because of her husband's death, as well as information from Jax's ex-wife, cloud her judgement. Still an excellent book with great narration. I'm really invested in this series now...need to move on to Logan's story! I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Yikes, what a disappointment. All Jax and Jessa did was fight and they were not nice about it at all. I didn't like either characters and doubt I will read any more in this series.
I liked the first book in this series but wasn't a fan of this one I felt like both the MC's were immature. Not sure if I am going to finish reading this series.
Jax Andersson had driven all night to tell his friend and teammate's widow, Jessa, the team finally avenged Ralph's death. Her reaction was to slam the door in his face, and he didn't blame her one bit. Now in a bar having a drink recounting all the things that just went wrong, he turns to see her entering the bar.
Jessa has a plan, Jax is going to give her back what she lost, her unborn child. Her plan is to get pregnant by him and disappear. Jax has always been attracted to Jessa, but she only had eyes for Ralph and he for her. Now when she's blatantly coming on to him, he knows he doesn't stand a chance. Then she moves away.
When Jax finds her, she knows she has to do more to hide away. Her cousin can help, a new name and Jessa vanishes. Jax brings in Cowboy to help find her, and that's when they find her cousin was arrested for selling stolen identities. They find only one that she could use and follow that line. Jax finds her and she's not happy about it. He informs her where her new name came from and she's shocked. She still won't give him the time of day, then she passes out in the doorway of her bedroom.
When she comes to, she tells him the things on her bed had been in the nightstand when she went to the beach. This is the third occurrence and she had changed the locks only the day before.
Jax informs her he's staying, much to her dismay. That night on patrol he sees someone in the dunes, but he gets away. Jax finds the telltale markings of a sniper setup pointing to her house. Back at the house he begins looking for whatever the sniper could possibly want from Jessa. What he finds is that Maria Elena, her new identity, has inherited a book. He learns from Jessa the break-ins began right after that. The only way to keep her safe is to get away from there and visit the lawyer to find out who will get the book if Maria dies.
They stop at a motel and the next morning back on the road they are being followed. The are at a rest stop and Jax finds a tracker in her purse. Whoever broke into her house must have put it there. Now they need to set a trap instead of being hunted.
Jax knows there's something else going on with Jessa, and at first when he gets the results of a check from Cowboy, he thinks it's cancer, Jessa sets him straight, and also reams him for invading her privacy. Later he gets another call, that one tells him she's pregnant and it all starts to come together. The set-up, the disappearance, she was running from him.
To say things, get more interesting here is an understatement. Jessa has conflicted feelings for Jax. She knows she felt attracted to him that night, and she still does. However, she can't let go of what he took from her, and Jax won't let her keep his child from him.
I love the way this story unfolds. There's plenty of suspense and intrigue all looped into the craziness of their relationship.
I am definitely hooked on this series and have already started the next book.

Known as Tin Man because of his strict control over his emotions, Jax feels his heart cracking when he goes to visit the widow of one of his best friends and a fallen hero, to let her know that Ralph's killer has been dealt with. Feeling devastated, Jax is surprised when Jesse later approaches him, leading to a one night stand. However, his surprise leads to disappointment when she turns her back on him and walks away. Only a woman who has lost a baby truly knows the extent of the pain that Jesse was experiencing. If it wasn't enough that she lost her husband, she lost her child a well and having to blame someone, she pours all her anger and resentment out on Jax. The story picks up quickly after that as Jax and his team are in a race against time to discover why someone wants Jesse dead and the significance of the inheritance she receives in the name of her assumed identity. This is a fast-moving plot, with an emotional twist, and humour interspersed with the rising tension. Although part of a series, as with other books, this is a standalone and comes to a humourous close. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Oh my, what can I way but that I loved this story! It never ceases to amaze the depth of talent that Ms Gamet pocesses. In this book we have Jesse McConnell, a widow who not only lost her husband, a member of the elite HERO Force , but also her unborn child . She blames HERO for both deaths , especially the leader, Jax Andersson. She meets Jax in a bar for one purpose, and one purpose alone, and when the resulting wish is granted, she is determined to vanish so he can’t find her. Unbeknown to her, her new identity is that of a woman who was murdered due to an inheritance. It is not only a book filled with action, whodunit, suspense, emotions, and two souls who are lost. It is also a story about redemption, forgiveness, a reminder life is short and because of that , we must live it to the fullest and in the moment. And that love really is worth all the ups and downs. So, thank you ,Ms Gamet for sharing your talent with us. Can’t wait to find out what else you have in store for us.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expresses are solely my own.
Sheltered by the SEAL: The Inheritance HERO Force, Book 2 By: Amy Gamet Narrated by Janelle Tedesco
When Jessa unexpectedly loses her husband and then miscarries their baby, there is nothing to do but grieve and place blame. When Jax, the one person she blames the most for Ralph's death. comes in with news, she makes a decision to seduce him. After all, the least he can do is provide her with a child. But there is something she did not count on. Feelings. This is a great love story with a few suspenseful twists. Gamet has woven a great story into this budding relationship. It's enemies to lovers, with a thrilling adventure of false identity, inheritance and greed. It's fast paced, at times exasperating and passionate. Looking forward to Cowboy's story next!
Narration continues by Janelle Tedesco, bringing the characters personalities to life. She has a great way to bring the over protective feelings out with her voice, the angry, grieving, yet conflicted widow sound and it's just a great entertaining listen. I am loving this series.
I read Sheltered by the SEAL on my mom's Kindle when we traded to read new stories on each others Kindle.
Jessa McConnell, widow of Ralph a HERO Force employee that was killed in the line of duty wants revenge from Jax Andersson, the commander of HERO Force for sending her husband into danger and his death. Her head is in a strange place when she plans to seduce Jax and get pregnant to replace the baby she lost at the time Ralph died.
She tries to disappear but Jax calls her and she purchases a false ID from her cousin. Someone is out to kill the woman she has taken her ID from and Jax is there to protect her and her unborn child.
The story is exciting, full of danger, anger, and in the end communication as Jax opens up and lets his feelings show. It is too important for Jessa to feel Sheltered by the SEAL than to let something happen to her and the baby. Strong characters, great story, lots of suspense and a happy ending too.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book that I have read of The Inheritance series, but I have read another book in the HERO Force series from Amy Gamet. I was looking forward to reading this book because the story was set up in the earlier Stranded with the SEAL book. The story was well developed and the characters are likable, although very stubborn in this case. I wondered how multiple authors would be able to tie a common inheritance story into other, already established series and story lines. I think Amy did a very good job with the task. I am now tempted to read other Inheritance books to see how other authors handled the challenge. I still like the dynamic of the characters that Amy has written into the HERO Force team and look forward to reading other books in the series.
I have to admit that I almost didn't finish this book because I didn't really like the female character. Jessa lost her husband, who was part of HERO force and she blamed Jax. So she conspires to get pregnant by him?! It didn't even make sense. And then she gets pregnant and hides from him. That's unconscionable. And she's so mean and rude over most of the book. Jax is a little quiet and stoic but overall, he was a fine character and constant towards Jessa (Although a little stalkerish). Towards the end, they got better although I didn't think her change of heart was believable. There was a bit of intrigue (who was hunting Jessa?) and that aspect of the book was interesting.
I listened to the audiobook and Janelle Tedesco did a good job playing multiple characters although her male voice sounded low and forced. Overall, it was a good listen.
Book two is jaxs story, he is the boss of the team that surprised me as I thought it was hawk or cowboy because I have read season two a new team in New York Mac is the lead of it but he doesn't deal with jax much. This book explains he is boss man (sorry no spoilers) I can't say I liked jaxs love interest I get she was hurting and she married a hero once don't want to go there again (I can relate) but the pick him up in the bar was cold (sorry trying not to give to much away) I think he forgave her to quickly, yes he was the boss but there is a whole team and she had no problem with the others. Interesting storyline but I was said hawk and Olivia was not in it much, hawk was a little I think past characters should be in it more build up characters we have bonded with them they should be pulled in.
Jax is a commander of a special forces unit and Jessa is the widow of an operative killed in action.
Man, I can't remember reading any book with a heroine I liked less. Jessa seduces Jax to get pregnant, then runs away assuming a fake identity. Jax is a good guy but Jessa pushes him just a bit too far when he finds her. He gives her the benefit of the doubt until he learns of her pregnancy and that she planned to hide the child from him. Then the gloves come off, so to speak. He ends up handcuffing her to the bed because she has already tried to sneak away once. WTH? Did I mention bad guys are after Jessa because really bad dudes murdered the young woman whose identity she stole.? Oh, and she openly hates Jax. HATES.
Bad guys show up. Their lives are on the line and suddenly love blooms in time for an HEA? No way. Not with her hating him that much.
Good book until it got deeper into the story. I personally was disappointed in the hate and revenge instigated by Jessas and also by Jax. I'm very disappointed when he decided to handcuff her to the bed. She could hardly move during the night to sleep . There are other ways he could have kept her there. He also didn't need to taunt her. Jessas is no saint either. She's too stubborn and unreasonable. She wanted to extract revenge on Jax . It's not his fault that the mission went bad. That's the nature the mission. The deal breaker for me was chaining her to the bed and his cruel remarks. That did it for me. This book had the potential to be really excellent. Just my own personal thoughts. Cruelty and misplaced hatred and revenge is no way to come back to a loving relationship
I have to admit, I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of this series and this author. This is nonstop intensity and had me wrapped up in it from the beginning. I love how much Jax changes throughout the book, but wish jessa would open her eyes a little more quickly than she did. I can't wait to see what happens with Cowboy and Charolette.
Jax and Jessa have had a rough start, when he goes to tell her that her late husbands killer has been dealt with, she decided to seduce him and get pregnant to replace the baby she lost when her husband was killed. When Jax finally finds her again, there's someone after her mistakenly and he's determined to save both her and their unexpected baby. Hoping to win her over in the process.
I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Hmm… this book had me fired up and not in a good way. TRIGGER: oh well… I can't word it without telling you exactly what happened but let me tell you… it had me pissed off for most of the book. Let me just say, grief is no excuse to be a jerk to someone, especially if you don't know the whole story. Jessa is one heroine that I could not find it in my heart to like. She was rude and whiny for most of the story. I felt bad for Jax because he not only had to grieve his friend's death but bear her wrath as well. I was so glad the main plot took point in the story as quickly as it did. I liked the mystery of it. There was a lot more action in this book so that had me on the edge of my seat. All in all, this book was ok. Not the best so far.
4.5 Stars The story features Jax Andersson, member of HERO and Jessa McConnell, widow to Ralph McConnell, HERO member KIA.
Jessica was so angry and held so much resentment towards Jax that I didn't see ANY future for them. The story was well thought out from beginning to end. The storyline made smooth transitions from one set of emotions to the next. The character development was perfect. I loved it! Jax was a little less emotional than I would have liked but in the bedroom his emotions were perfect. Kind of dark and broody. SMOKIN' HOT!
I'm looking forward to the next book by this talented author.
This is the first book I listen by this author and narrator but it will not be the last. It was so good!!! This is a story about loss, forgiveness and second chances. There is a secondary storyline about an inheritance that’s intense and kept me wondering what will happen next. A great story with a mix of romance and suspense paired with really good narration turns this into a book I will re listen in the future. Note: this is book 2 in a series but I didn't listen to the first book and never felt lost. Note 2: “I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.”
4 Stars I purchased a copy of the steamy postmilitary romance Sheltered by the SEAL in the Hero Force Boxset Books 1-8 by Amy Gamet, and this review was given freely. A drama and action-packed novel of second chances, greed, love, and recovery after loss. Hours after exacting revenge for his teammate’s murder, the emotionally isolated team leader Jax Andersson finds himself scorned, drunk, targeted by the angry widowed Jessa for a one-night stand, ghosted by the woman he has never been able to forget, almost losing his second chance at having a family, and the target of a murder mystery. 18+ for intimate scenes, violence, and frank language.
They say love and hate are two sides of the same coin. In Sheltered by a Seal Jax and Jessa prove that sometimes Love and hate can exist at the same time. Ralph and Jax were best friends for years and Jax was jealous when he married Jessa. When Ralph died both Jax and Jessa blamed him for Ralph's death. This book has so many twists and turns that you will not be able to put it down. The HERO force team makes its presence known and the author tells a great story.
Jessa was quiet the character. Although she was doing some underhanded things to begin with I found her character to be likeable and believable. Jax was also a great character. This story merges into the kindle world The Inheritance series flawlessly. Even so this story stands alone without reading any ot the other books. Lots of secrets and emotions, Action and mystery. The story was great and I loved this one! Reading Jax and Jessa's story was fun and enjoyable. HEA and some sexy times. Loved this one
While there is a lot of action and swoon worthy moves, I distinctly dislike Jessa. Losing your spouse and unborn child are horrifying. It's her vindictive actions towards Jax that leave me shaking my head.
When he goes caveman on her I actually laughed out loud and mentally high fived him. When his men of Hero Force completely take his side and tell Jessa she's wrong is awesome. Usually, the guy is made to look ugly. Having the woman be ugly definitely works and gives some depth to the author.
