703 books136 followersThe Belgian author Morris (full name Maurice de Bevere) is best known for his humorous cowboy character, Lucky Luke. Morris started his career in 1945 in Le Moustique, creating various covers and illustrations. By the end of the 1940s, Morris met his colleagues Jijé, Franquin and Will. These four artists would be called "The Gang of 4", because they all worked in Jijé's studio at that time. The first episode of Lucky Luke, 'Arizona 1880', was published in L'Almanach Spirou 1947, and was later continued in Spirou. In his early 'Lucky Luke' comics, Morris was greatly inspired by animated cartoons à la Disney.
In 1949, Jijé took Morris and Franquin to the US, where Morris met Jack Davis and Harvey Kurtzman, whom he helped with their plans for Mad Magazine. He also met René Goscinny in the US. In 1955, Morris returned to Europe and collaborated with René Goscinny on 'Lucky Luke'. Goscinny wrote the scenarios of over 35 stories, which led to the great success of the series.

The series had quite the dip after Goscinny left.

De Groot used this tome to teach the reader interesting things about the Swiss, like Goscinny did with the "Asterix" adventures abroad, by having Uncle Marcel arrive from Switzerland to open another branch of his banks- using the text, context and many footnoted *s (ha!) to present a introductory and whimsical lesson!
Morris must have tended well to his hands over the years because think of how impressive it is that he could brush with such precision in his latter tomes!

Ternyata Dalton Brsaudara punya paman banker Swiss yang berniat mendidik mereka untuk jadi ahli warisnya! Sayang mereka lebih suka jadi bandit! Sementara itu, gara-gara Lucky Luke, penjual suspender jadi kaya raya...

Jak sam tytuł albumu wskazuje, Lucky Luke kolejny raz będzie miał tu do czynienia z dobrze wszystkim znaną rodzinką Daltonów. Tym razem nie chodzi jednak wyłącznie o braci i ich przestępczą karierę. Na amerykańską ziemię przypływa bowiem kolejny członek rodu. Tytułowy Marcel Dalton to szanowany obywatel Szwajcarii, który przybywa do USA w celu nabycia pewnego banku. Na zlecenie gubernatora jego ochroniarzem i przewodnikiem zostaje właśnie LL. Nie będzie to łatwa i przyjemna praca. Szczególnie że tam, gdzie pojawiają się wielkie pieniądze, tam zawsze piętrzą się różne kłopoty.
Za historię zawartą w albumie komiksu Lucky Luke: Marcel Dalton odpowiedzialny jest scenarzysta Bob De Groot. Fani cyklu mogą kojarzyć to nazwisko, chociażby z części Artysta Malarz, w której całkiem dobrze poradził on sobie z powierzonym mu zadaniem. Czy tak też jest w przypadku recenzowanego tytułu? Bardzo trudno jest jednoznacznie odpowiedzieć na to pytanie. Z jednej strony mamy tutaj bowiem do czynienia z dziełem podtrzymującym klimat cyklu. Z drugiej zaś poziom historii znacząco odbiega od jakości oferowanej przez Goscinnego.
Na pewno nie można odmówić twórcy umiejętnego prezentowania prostego, ale przyjemnego w odbiorze humoru. Liczne gagi (głównie związane z braćmi Dalton, którzy zostali zatrudnieni w banku przez swojego krewnego) potrafią wywołać uśmiech na twarzy czytelnika. Zastrzeżenia można mieć jednak do zaserwowanej intrygi, która jest strasznie przewidywalna i niedopracowanej postaci Marcela (jest on płaski i kompletnie niezapadający w pamięć).

A week four, I overall liked the Story, but moarn the lost potencial.
Overall if feels as if its trying to many things at once.
The Daltons have a honest Uncle, who onviously looks exactly like them, and wants to help them turning straight.
Hes also from Switzerland, and a foundus of Kultur, Language, and Tropes.
Oh and he has a Rival, who hired a Bandit to kick him out of Buisness.
I feel the Switzerland Heritate takes away from him beeing a Dalton, and him beeing a Relative of the Daltons is limiting the Potencial of a Volume highlighting this Countrys Culture.
And the Villian takes away from the Daltons failing to work in a Bank... but we got a Book all about that already, so for what was the second attempt? Or was that the first Attempt, not sure?
It is funny, and has decent Charakters, but it made Decitions what limit its scope way to much.

Ternyata Dalton Bersaudara mempunyai paman bernama Marcel Dalton yang bekerja sebagai bankir di Swiss. Tujuan kedatangannya ke Amerika yang ditemani oleh Lucky Luke adalah menjemput Dalton Bersaudara untuk bekerja sebagai kasir di bank barunya (Last Local Village Bank) sehingga mereka perlu diajari. Setelah Marcel Dalton berhasil mengalahkan pesaingnya (Swindler Bank) dengan cara menerapkan bunga serendah mungkin dan juga berkat bantuan Lucky Luke, Dalton Bersaudara kabur dari bank dan melakukan perampokan yang sudah menjadi tradisi mereka sehingga Lucky Luke membawa mereka kembali ke penjara setelah beradu tembak dengan Joe Dalton. Melihat keponakannya yang tidak bisa diandalkan, Marcel Dalton memilih untuk menyumbangkan kekayaannya kepada PPCNS (Pusat Penelitian Cokelat Nasional Swiss).

Un très bon Lucky Luke, avec des bulles qui font mouche, même si la fin n'est malheureusement pas original. J'aurais bien pris un dénouement un peu moins convenu !
