Rebecca Yaeger finds more at the masquerade ball than she bargained for. Getting attacked by some crazed she-devil, complete with claws and fangs, certainly wasn’t on her agenda for the evening. In a few slashing moments, Becky learns things about her friends and the man she loves she never would have suspected. When Simon rescues Becky from an unprovoked attack by one of his Pride, he finally confirms what he’s long suspected: she’s his mate. Carrying her off to his home and dressing her wounds gives him the chance he’s been waiting for—to taste her and mark her has his. And she’s far sweeter than anything, or anyone, he’s ever had before. Just as their happiness begins to take hold, a strange illness begins to haunt Becky, threatening to turn their sweet dreams into a nightmare.
Dana Marie Bell wrote her first short story when she was thirteen years old. She attended the High School for Creative and Performing Arts for creative writing, where freedom of expression was the order of the day. When her parents moved out of the city and placed her in a Catholic high school for her senior year she tried desperately to get away, but the nuns held fast, and she graduated with honors despite herself.
Dana has lived primarily in the Northeast (Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, to be precise), with a brief stint on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. She lives with her soul-mate and husband Dusty, their two maniacal children, an evil ice-cream stealing cat and a bull terrier that thinks it’s a Pekinese.
Great quick read. Becky and Simon are a cute couple. It was insta-love but not as bad as the first book as they lived in town together and seen each other around. But they never dated or didn't really hang out together so still insta-love-ish. Simon was sexy. Becky playful and sassy. I was really glad that livia finally got what was coming to her! I loved getting to see more Max and Emma. And I want to just say that I really like the kitty jokes. I know it's silly but I love animal jokes in shifter books. It was a sweet fun lighter read that made me smile!
So this was worse than the first book of the series. I am being a little more critical because the first book in a series is lot of information and set up so we, the audience, let things slide.
There were a LOT of random references that will make this book dated in another year from now and no practical explanation for them. The new main couple behaves exactly like the last couple. No personality for them. There is a token effort but it falls flat. Even the villian has no motivation to go after the main characters other than "they are bad".
So much repetition I thought I was re-reading some parts. The editor should encourage Bell to at least change the frequently used phrases. There will be a lot of turning purple from laughter and not being able to choose between spanking or screwing, etc. Why? Well BECAUSE!
I am happy I got these through the library. I wanted to buy the Bare Necessities by this author but had no clue if she was any good so I got these to acquaint myself with Bell's writing style. I think I have seen enough. Call me if things improve.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I bought this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I own the whole set!
The cover has me torn because I like the models way better, but I still wish there was a puma on the cover!
This is the 2nd book in the series. I recommend reading them in order because it just makes it better!! This is still for adults only due to the steamy content and violence. This is a quick read only 79 or so pages.
This is Becky and Simon’s story. I like both of these characters! They have chemistry, and there are weird things going on with Becky, so there is a mystery. There is a short recap at the beginning of the end of book 1. Dana has a great mix of action, mystery, romance, and treachery to keep you engaged in the story. I loved it!
I highly recommend to any shifter fans who want action and a HEA! I can’t wait to read more!!!
So when I finished the first book I was really looking forward to this. I really liked Simon and Becky's character and their inability to get their romance together. But I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for a little bit more resistance to the mating on Becky's part. I mean he was quite the slutty man, and she had been avoiding for a long time for that very reason. But she let him seduce her and claim her right off the bat. And the story was thoroughly predictable. The "sickness" was caused by the villian, and if you read the first book you know exactly who that is. I just don't have that much to say about because even though it was cute, I just didn't really love it.
Sweet Dreams is the second book of the Halle Pumas series and picks up where we left off after Becky was attacked by Livia. This is very similar to Emma’s book. Becky is also human, has also been in love with Simon for years as he’s been hooking up with Belinda. They mate quickly with little pushback. Becky is also uncharacteristically immediately accepting of everything and equally as annoying as Emma with the stupid cat litter, kitty jokes.
Bottom Line- Another fluffy shifter read. It’s not a secret that I don’t have a lot of patience for silly, and I felt was even worse than the last. Becky bugged me, and I ended up skimming a lot.
En este segundo libro, no sentí mucha conexión entre la pareja, es una historia como si fuera directa al grano, pero tengo esa sensación de que deja muchos vacíos, que no ayudan a sentir el amor entre ellos.
Simon he may be the beta of the Pride but that boy is fierce when it comes to his woman, "if I find yout that you had a hand in helping Livia hurt my mate I will kick your a** so hard you'll s*** out of your mouth after I have you cast out of the Pride. You understand me?" He's just a big kitty where Becky is concerned, "Simon was purring. She ran her hands soothingly up and down his back, making him purr even louder. She bit her lip to keep from giggling." The man has no shame when it comes to sharing a bathroom, "he looks at her, confused. He pointed with the toothbrush. "Toilet's right there, baby." I'm excited for Adrian's book.
The 2nd in the Halle Puma series. This one overlaps with the previous book from the party at the end. I enjoyed getting a different perspective on the whole confrontation. The story was a little short and the baddies too easily defeated. A quick read that I would have enjoyed being expanded into a full novel.
Getting attacked by some crazed she-devil, complete with claws and fangs, certainly wasn't on Rebecca Yaeger's agenda when she agreed to attend a local masquerade. In a few slashing moments, Becky learns things about her friends and the man she loves that she never would have suspected. When Simon rescues Becky from an unprovoked attack by one of his Pride, he finally confirms what he's long suspected: she's his mate. Carrying her off to his home and dressing her wounds gives him the chance he's been waiting for--to taste her and mark her as his. And she's far sweeter than anything, or anyone, he's ever had before. Just as their problems seem a thing of the past, a strange illness begins to haunt Becky, threatening to turn their sweet dreams into a nightmare. Heather's Notes I felt sorry for Belinda, and I am glad she gets her own book later. I liked Simon and liked Becky for the most part. They were cute together. These books are not masterpieces, but they are enjoyable short reads.
Not a bad story but seriously WAY too short. Things were really rush, rush and I felt like I missed out on a lot. As soon as I felt it was starting to get good, it ended at 83% on my Kindle. Also, for Becky to go from her shyness when it came to Simon to just accepting and jumping right into everything was a bit much.
I will continue to read this series but I am really glad that I read Bear Necessities first. Otherwise this would have had me stopping after this one. I want to continue reading about the characters that are secondary in that one so I will keep going.
This followed on perfectly from the first book. I love all the relationships in this and the revenge livia wants to take on simon and becky. I also love the imagery I easily can imagine Simons home and the area which they live in. The only thing I don't like about the book is the speed that the relationships develop at one stage the girls are saying 'No way' to the man and then all of a sudden can't help themselves. I would definitely recommend this book.
This second installment of the Halle Pumas picked up where "The Wallflower" left off with the story of Simon and Becky. This books was still good and erotic, but some of the story was a little off with the theme. Still an enjoyable read who love "dirty" love stories with a good amount of humor in them!
A sweet wonderful book that follows the Halle Pumas seemlessly. Becky and Simon made a wonderful couple and they will be good for each other and will enjoy reading about them as the series progresses.
I loved it! I have to say even though this series is only short stories, they are sooo much fun to read! They are funny, cute, romantic and just about everything else in between! Can't wait to read Adrian's story! ;)
I thought it was rushed in the beginning. I did like that she seamlessly joined this book to the first, that was a nice change to other series. But I felt like her acceptance of shifters was rushed, and very early on. But I still loved the book
3.25/5 Like the first book in the series I didn't find anything really wrong with this book. It was decent. Nothing stood out as really bad. But nothing really made it stand out as good either. Compared to the first book I found less tension. The protagonist and her interest were together from the very start. There was less conflict and it just happened near the end of the book. There was almost no build to it. Again this was short. We do have the benefit of the characters already being established from the first book. I do want to know how the protagonist always knows when a phone is about to ring. This is a plot point, but it is never explained. I still have very little understanding of the world. About all I know is there are puma shifters and they can shift when they want to after their first shift. Also, the bite to turn them has to be intentional.
Recommendation: If you like cat shifters with light romance you may enjoy this book. It is easy to read and does have a few paranormal elements. If you are looking for a thought provoking novel, this is not it.
SWEET DREAMS is the second book in the Halle Pumas series, and as with the first book, it is a light, quick, fun and sexy read. We met Simon and Becky in the previous book, as Simon is Max’s best friend and pride beta, and Becky is Emma’s best friend. They’ve been crushing on each other for a long time, but a threat to Becky forces Simon to finally act.
SWEET DREAMS is told in dual POVs and comes with a HEA for Simon and Becky. The beginning of this story overlaps with the ending from the previous story, so I would recommend reading this series in order. I devoured this entire series back in 2010 (and a couple of times since then), and each book is just a nice way to spend an hour or so on something fun and easy.
After reading this short story, I see that the Halle Puma series is more of a serial, with each installment focusing on a different POV of the same or overlapping events. I liked seeing how this large cast of characters fit together and what a small bit of insight from a different POV can bring to the table. I recommend reading this serial back-to-back without a major interruption because it feels like 1 main story cut up into episodes.
It was a good read but I was baffled by Becky's complete 360 change in attitude from the previous book. I really expected her to make him work for it harder and to be honest I was looking forward to it! I did enjoy the seeing emma and max again and liked the little bit of suspense involving the 'she-devil'.
Big Cats are one of my favorite shifters to read about. Only thing about this book that disappointed me, was what made Livia act the way she did toward Becky. She wanted to be Curana, not Beta. I would have loved for Becky to be the one to bust her butt. Great story though. Good job.
Becky is very funny, shy and in love with Simon. Simon loves Becky but is not sure how to approach her. At a party she isk attacked by a crazy she wolf. Simon and Emma show up just in time. Now Simon refuses to let her go and claims her as his mate. They are so sweet and funny. Love their humor and fun.
Sweet Dreams is Becky and Simone's book. I love this couple and wish it was longer. They have liked each other from a distance and the end of book one brings them together. This book picks up right where book one left off for this couple. A good short read.
These always seems like a really short sweet read, that's not a complaint I could simply read it for hours. This book picks straight up from the end of wallflower but from Becky POV.
These books would be a much higher rating if they were a bit longer so they could have some substance to them. They have really great potential but the shortness of them just makes the storyline and romances unrealistic.
For what it is worth, I wish I had waited for the author to combine the first 3 books into one, which she did. Still a cute novella with the usual romance, drama and a surprise that I was not expecting. Onward to the next one.
