First chapter. I was like,"Have I read this book before" by the last chapter. It was a maybe. Yet, I am still entertained!

edit: I see that this author has written another one, and I weep for anybody who accidentally picks it up.
All it took was a special smell to turn the 140+ year old "ladies man" into a gay-for-you trope? Sorry, but no. This trope is way way way overused, completely unrealistic, violated by reality, and honestly I've seen it done much better. This novel was OK, the writing was decent (if you ignored the exposition dumps, which were at times both sloppy and inconsistent, a fatal flaw for shifter fiction), the story had potential, but I just cannot get over the stupid straight-to-gay nonsense. Did the author ever consider "you know what? let's just make them both gay instead, that might make a gay relationship more believable!" Whether it was the straight character having to google 'gay sex' or the gay MC's internal dialogue sounding a lot like a woman's internal dialogue would (I wonder why...), it turned me off.
Maybe that's true on planet shifter, but here on earth gender does matter. Pretending it doesn't has long been a staple of anti-gay preachers and conversion camp counselors, so you'll forgive me for checking out when it rears its ugly head here.

Yeah, so no....
Where do I even start? The premise sounded very interesting but unfortunately the story had a lackluster delivery. On top of that it needs editing, editing, and even more editing topped off with proofing. Honestly if you keep the bones of the story and strip away everything else to rework the story.....yeah.
Last but not least, you cannot have a character say, "I turned him gay", especially when you go and explain prior to that that love is love. To me that just makes absolutely no sense and is just plain ridiculous!

Another book by someone with potentially interesting ideas yet who would better have skipped writing altogether before learning the basics of grammar (for example, "who" is perpetually replaced by "that"), style (words are often atrociously chosen : "Jordan countered back with a smile that had Duncan thinking thoughts", "he was positive that Jordan would be a value to his company", "some were killed in front of the rest of the pack as an embellished way to keep the members in line"...), punctuation (far too many commas should be semicolons) and elementary logic (look at the train of thoughts in this utterance : "after taking over the pack, Duncan was ridiculed by the same pack members he saved from his uncle’s tyrannical rule. That was so long ago, but at times it still felt as if it were yesterday. It took him quite a while to gain the trust of his pack members"). The contents are worse than the form, what with a very cliché love story between two stock characters who move through the thin plot with the expectability of heroes from a third-rank fanfiction and a secondary cast of cardboard figures. Last but not least, not only is world-building inexistent other than several paragraphs of info dump near the beginning in the midst of the shifter hero's POV; the imaginary island-continent on which the action takes place is as muddled a place as the various classes of paranormals and their history :
"Lykosians and other shifted sects were given unmanageable strength and the ability to change from man to beast. Other sects were also given special abilities, some known and some not. The nyxian sect was known for their beauty and mysterious abilities. The elfkins, or elves, who were just as mysterious as the nyxians, were close in relation with their appearance. Both sects were created by the gods of the sun and given abilities to defend themselves. There were many other sects that had hidden their people away and had remained a secret even to him. One sect Duncan was sure they had died out centuries ago, were the draconem. They were hunted and killed for their blood and heart. Men and beasts were attracted to the idea of a long life. By eating the heart of a draconem a person could live up to one hundred years plus. It was also written that draconems were quite powerful and possess magic liken to that of witches and warlocks, it was how they controlled their fire that dwelled deep inside of them while in their human form. Duncan had always wondered how a sect as powerful as the draconems could have failed to protect themselves and died out. Some died during and after the war. After the great war, a treaty was signed by the leaders of each sect. No matter how much he researched, Duncan could not find the reason why or who started the war in the first place. The only thing that was apparent was that many died senselessly. In the end, each sect decided it was better that they all lived their lives and didn’t intermingle. Duncan and a few other lykosian alphas had worked together to keep the peace with other packs and shifter clans across the globe."
There really is no need to enter into more details with respect to a book written in such a sad style and showing such poor powers of imagination.

Really interesting but choppy.
There is a big problem with timelines and random sentences. There is also one interesting sex scene where HE is used too often instead of names so HE seems to be sucking his own dick. It took a a slower read to make sure who was doing what.
I did enjoy it though!

Great beginning!

First off, I love how she set up her world and characters. This is my first Reaves novel and can not wait until the next book in this series.

It could be a good story. But it's choppy. The book need a good editor and proof reader.
Also, there is a lot in this book, shifter, vampire, fee, dragon, nixean, mpreg, some have powers.. It's all over the place.
And I didn't like Jordan, talk about childish and selfish behavior.

Having never read this author before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say that I was definitely not disappointed. This is a great start to a new series! The plot is intriguing, the imagery vivid, the writing impressive, and the characters complex and well thought out. Authentic and engaging, these characters completely draw you into the story and make you believe in this extraordinary world the author has created for us. Through the beautiful story of Duncan and Jordan, we learn that love truly has no gender, and true happiness only comes when you surrender to it. This book is impassioned and insightful, exciting and interesting, romantic and provocative, and riveting and enthralling. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet, sexy, and compelling read.

It took me a week to read this (going between reading and listening to Sean Crisden). There was really no forward momentum until the last half of the book. I probably should have quit because I'm now rather disappointed with where it left off. I didn't hate it, but it was really just ok. I doubt that I will read the next in the series if it moves anyway similar to this. YMMV

While I was looking for Audio book I came over Jordan's Pryde and it sounded like a fun reading material. Then I even saw that I read that book way back, So I decided to listen to that book second time.
After ending it, I wasn't as satisfied as I was the first time reading that book. Even with listening to the audio format, I still felt like childish story plot. Somehow I did not like the main character.

Okay, that is a story I did not mind reading. The story is full, a lot happens and both MC's are pulling. So, there is no boring time in it.
It was nicely done by the Author "Giovanna Reaves"

DNF. Rating 1.5 This was a book that just kept getting more outlandish as it went along. I love paranormal books but this one had everything in it. There was one twist/revelation after another in that vein and it quickly got to be too much. I also felt that the author was trying too hard with the evil elements and the drama. The prose got to be a little purple and the editing was problematic. It was one of those books that I borrowed from KU, read over 50%, then put aside thinking I'd go back and stick it out to finish at some point. After two months I've realized that I'm just not invested enough in the over-the-top story enough to finish it and am returning it.

Interesting take on the supernatural creatures I really enjoy when an author clearly did a bit of research on folklore for the writing it shows. The plot keeps you turning pages and I would pick up the next one.

2.46 🌟 || I rlly enjoyed the world building and the addition of other paranormal species in this book, but for me what fell off was the dialogue/ character relationships. At times it felt either rushed or choppy, and the almost insta-love was a little much.
in this one, for me it was like, telling and not showing yannow? “jordan is super smart and needs this pa job!” -aaaaand jordan runs head first into dangerous situations like a dumbass
“roland and duncan are besties 4 lyfers!” aaaaaand duncan uses Roland as an assistant and doesn’t bother to talk to him outside of pack business
“bronx is so cool and a good FRIEND” -aaaaand bronx continues to ‘ go after ‘ a mated and marked jordan (while having a current mate) . Jordan let go of him like, YEARS ago and only sees him as a brother but this mf just wont give up on that friend-zone goddamn

Both Jordan and Duncan were great characters individually, both with backstories and 3 dimensional personalities but I guess personally I didn’t enjoy how whenever they were mad/annoyed with each other (mostly Jordan to Duncan) they resolve the issue by fucking.
Like, every single time.
Communication? Nada. Nope. Non. Not a chance.
The tiniest of communication was just one party or the other ‘giving in’ and letting the other one have their way. Like, find a compromise or something jc its not one or the other u both are right and wrong.
I usually don’t mind split POV but the in this case the POVs kinda blended together because Jordan would have massive temper tantrums out of nowhere? and Duncan just took it? not the vibe at all … also i didn’t feel the genuine apology either, rather, ‘i overreacted, now lets fuck’

Bronx sucked never liked him from the beginning to creepy
Ayumi was meh and the dad was just. no. wtf . theres literally no character at all there. okay he’s taciturn….. why tho? like was i the only one super curious about that?
the twins were cute asf i liked them the most prolly
blayze was boring until the uh …. yannow…. surprise! 🐉
Roland to, never really felt the brotherhood between him, Duncan, and the enforcers with random white dude names (who tf even remembers whos who?)
ik what ur thinking. goldie, why are these characters boring? they were one dimensional. plain and simple. the conversations between the side characters and the main two felt sooooo…. how do i say….. one sided? Jordan/Duncan had to pull the main character card every single time and make the conversation allllll about them and how they were doing
‘blayze is a good friend! so is bronx!’ i would not want to be friends with Jordan that bitch switches moods on a DIME and he only talks to them when he is bored/looking for attention/wants to talk about HIS problems and HIS only.

A Pryde with a Pack
A fairly good read with an good start in exploring a new supernatural world.
Jordan has grown up knowing only the human world, as he is human after all. He applies for a job working for a business man he admires, Duncan Pryde, and finds his life changing bit by bit. It starts when he meets Duncan and his ffamily and just continues on when he ends up with a job that he did not expect and mysteries piling up around him. When the changes suddenly affect him personally his life is altered and will never be the same.
Jordan was a great character, very loving, open, and easy going. Not to say he wasn't a hard worker as well; it all starts with a job hunt for him, and even though he lands a different job than he plans he puts his all into it. As he learns about the supernatural world his curiosity and openness to it make it easy to explore the world as a reader, and very enjoyable. His feeling for his boss, Duncan, are well developed and progress naturally with the story.
Duncan is a great character himself. I was worried he would be the typical bossy alpha with no room for humour or outside suggestion, but he wasn't at all. Duncan is very loving with his family, and also very caring as an alpha to his pack. The bind between him and Jordan is not something recognized immediately and I enjoyed instead watching the feeling bloom into something more that Duncan noticed. At times Duncan was more thrown by what was going on than Jordan, so the two made for a good pair and a nice read.
While this was a good first book, there is open room for improvement. As things changed rapidly there were times when the plot became choppy. This was easy to iignore but in those times there would sometimes be these rapid tonal shifts, for sure and serious to light and fluffy, that made it difficult to read. Easily smoothed out with time, these faults weren't enough to detract from reading this book or keep me from looking forward to the next in the series!

It is ALWAYS a thrill to come across a new-to-me writer and discover a treasure trove of wonderful stories yet to be experienced. I met this writer in an LGBTQ+ book group on Facebook on a post she published to promote her novel. I read the synopsis and was anxious to immerse myself in the world she created. Narrated by the simply incredible Sean Crisden, the novel takes on a life my imagination could never have provided.
In 'Jordan's Pryde' we encounter Jordan Sutton who is drowning in bills when he gets notified that he is scheduled for an interview with immensely successful Duncan Pryde, a man he had been following through the media. He is accidentally sent to the home to interview for the nanny position instead of the personal assistant position he was hoping for. Getting along well with Pryde's nephew and niece, the mix-up sticks and he is set up in the household of the very successful man.
It isn't long before he discovers that the world of shifters, vampires, and fae exist. Generations-long enmities are present among the factions and between groups within each as is the situation he finds himself in. He discovers he is the result of a union between two different supernatural beings and is considered an abomination. That person wants him and his father's kind permanently destroyed.
Author Giovanna Reaves writes a story packed full of ALL that is essential in ANY wonderful book: great world-building (a world populated with supernatural characters), excellent character development (the leads grow together as lovers and as a mated pair with the opposition), distinctly defined conflict (as mentioned previously), and clearly delineated conclusion (which eliminates the immediate threat yet leaves the main couple intact). In addition, she checks off the additional boxes of impeccable pacing (the rate at which the writer introduces key elements in the story) and precise balance (the distribution of varying types of elements in the narrative)! She provides readers an incredible M/M romance that isn't dependent on the quantity or quality of sexual scenes. The book stands firmly on its own. Readers need more, much more from this exceptional writer!

This was a great read! I only wish that it had been a full-length novel so that the story could be expanded on more. It's a steady paced book with lots of action, twist, and turns. There is something for everyone – werewolves, vampires, dragons, witches, elves, and evil fanatical hunters. The scorecard is full of various creatures and I would love to see more about the other paranormal creatures as well. I'm hoping that the author continues the series so that all the great secondary characters can get a book as well.
Jordan gets a much needed job with Duncan Pryde the CEO of Pryde Industries. His world is turned up-side down in short order when he first walks into Duncan home. Jordan is secretly in love with his employer. He quickly gets pulled into a paranormal world he knew nothing about. Jordan suddenly finds out he too is a part of this paranormal world. After mating he finds out that he is actually a nyxian (type of elf) and a prince to boot. War is coming to the lykosians (werewolf) and sanguine (vampire) sects (packs, covens, etc.). How to fight this battle and win is going to take cooperation between the various sects which is going to be major undertaking.
These two have a rocky road learning about each other and how their relationship is going to work. There are many questions and situations that are going to have to be resolved. There's an HEA for the two lovers but they're going to have to work at it. I loved this book and I'm going to be on the lookout for other works in this series and by this author.

I'm hoping that the author continues the series so that all the great secondary characters can get a book as well.
Jordan gets a much needed job with Duncan Pryde the CEO of Pryde Industries. His world is turned up-side down in short order when he first walks into Duncan home. Jordan is secretly in love with his employer. He quickly gets pulled into a paranormal world he knew nothing about. Jordan suddenly finds out he too is a part of this paranormal world. After mating he finds out that he is actually a nyxian (type of elf) and a prince to boot. War is coming to the lykosians (werewolf) and sanguine (vampire) sects (packs, covens, etc.). How to fight this battle and win is going to take cooperation between the various sects which is going to be major undertaking.
These two have a rocky road learning about each other and how their relationship is going to work. There are many questions and situations that are going to have to be resolved. There's an HEA for the two lovers but they're going to have to work at it. I loved this book and I'm going to be on the lookout for other works in this series and by this author.

I went into this audiobook blind, or semi-blind. I knew it was going to be an Omegaverse based on the two previous ARCs I reviewed by this same author. Color me both HaPpY and surprised to discover this was a shifter Omegaverse.
The hero in our story, Jordan applies for a PA position but finds himself roped into a nanny, aptly named "manny," position instead. While not ideal to Jordan he adores the twins he is taking care of, and finds himself extremely attracted to their uncle, who happens to be a wolf shifter.
Duncan Pryce is not just any shifter. He is the Alpha of the sect and very influential in both the supe world and the mundane world.
Something or someone is killing supernaturals and Duncan fears for his pack and for the other sects, even if He doesn't get along with them. The sects all work together to keep humans, like Jordan the "manny," oblivious to supernatural beings.
Jordan however may be harboring some secrets of his own, even if he is unaware of their existence.
As with Reaves' other books, I enjoyed this one immensely. This one left me with a greater desire for more, so I will be continuing the series.
The book did NOT end with a cliffie, but it did dangle just enough of a HFN to push you toward book two. A job well done on the author's part. "Always leave them wanting more," right? !?😂
Sean Crisden did a fine job on narration. I did feel he was a bit too growly in parts, but over all I enjoyed it.

Jordan really wanted a job with Pryde Industries so he was thrilled to get an interview for a job as the CEO personal assistant. Jordan was confused when he was told to go to the CEO Duncan's house but he went along. When he arrived he found a house in chaos. The nanny had left and Duncan's nephew and niece were a little wild. Plus Duncan had an important call to take. When Duncan was free again, he was surprised to find his niece and nephew in the kitchen helping Jordan make breakfast. Duncan is impressed with how Jordan gets along with his kids because they have been horrible since the death of their parents a few months ago. He hires Jordan to be their nanny.
Jordan is a little disappointed about being a nanny instead of a PA but hearing the kids story convinces him. He is a little worried about working for Duncan since Duncan would be his dream guy if only he was gay. Duncan is having strange feelings for Jordan. If Jordan was female, he would be sure they were mates but somehow his wolf has picked a male. As Alpha of his pack this confuses Duncan since he is expected to produce the next alpha. Duncan knows you can't argue with fate so now he has to explain to Jordan about werewolves and that they are mates. Not an easy task.
This book is a little slow starting but it ends up with surprises, twists and turns. I really enjoyed the last half of the book. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

OMG you are going to Love this book! Gia has created a new, fantastic world, populated by shifter sects you know and new ones you don't. They blend together to form a world that sucks you in from the beginning and doesn't let you go. It leaves you wanting more.

When Jordan's true nature is revealed, the fur literally starts to fly. Their passion cannot be contained. Then an enemy that threatens everything rears it's ugly head, putting them in grave danger, forcing strange alliances.

Good start for a new author and series.
A good first book. I'll start first with a couple of issues I had. 1) the mix up of past and present tense. A sentence would start in past tense then half way through would change to present tense. It made it kind of confusing. 2) Not a whole lot of angst or real hardship. Yes there are baddies but some how thing work out without a lot of effort. Also, Jordan's and Duncan's relationship have a lot of issues but again they are easily smoothed out. It felt like the main characters didn't really have to struggle much. To me the struggle and fighting hard (sometimes not winning or things not working out) for a person or idea is what helps fuel a MC's growth in most books. Things I liked: A) the twins were adorable and seemed age appropriate. A lot of authors write children as much younger then they say they are. I believe the twins are 5 or 6 and they are written as such. B) loved the concept of the different sects and how they interacted or not as is actually the case. I wish they were a little bit more explained but seeing as this the beginning of a series there is time for that. This is great start for a new author and series. I believe Giovanna show great promise and will just keep getting better with each book.

Jordan’s Pryde by Giovanna Reaves starts off the Pryde Shifter series. I liked this one has a good pace to it. I liked the characters too they are strong and memorable.
Jordan applied for a job at Pryde Industries. Never believed in paranormals. He just wants a job.
Duncan has a lot going on in his life. Guardian to twin niece and nephew. He is also Alpha and has a company to run.
Then his mate applies for a job, a mate that doesn’t believe in paranormals. Going to be his personal assistant. Nothing could go wrong, there right?
Duncan might be bossy, dominate, and confident but he is not prepared for Jordan.
Duncan is a great guy, he has a huge heart. Jordan is also a good person who is going to get his entire worldview rocked.
But together they are amazing to read. I loved that they had a great connection. There are humor and love in this story. I really enjoyed it. I hope there are more in this series I would love to read more about this world and see who falls in love next.

This is my first review in a long time. I previous deleted my account because it seemed that people only came on Goodreads to smash authors. Though some of the books deserved it, others did not. That's my very unnecessary disclaimer.
So I received an ARC and though I didn't finish thought this story has potential. My problem was I kept coming across editing issues. Anyone that had ever written anything, including college papers has ran into an editing problem or two - but I digress.
Long story short, I picked up where I left off on my kindle. What a difference in the story, I actually went back to some parts in the ARC and compared them to the current edition. Enough on the editing - the story was fantastic, different but fantastic nevertheless. Without giving away any spoilers, I really enjoyed this book and the relationship between the main characters. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

These characters and their relationships with each other made this book for me. I adored Jordan, Duncan and the kids. Jordan was so sweet with the kids. I loved their scenes together. I just wished there were more of them. I also loved Blaize, Ryland and the other enforcers. I even liked Bronx (not always but toward the end I did).
I thought the world building was well done and liked how the different sects pretty much kept to themselves. I can't wait to see how that will change in future books.
I really enjoyed the book but there were some things that bugged me. The name of the woman Duncan hires at the same time as Jordan changes mid-way through. She starts off as Cassie and then all of a sudden, she's Carrie. And then at one point, it's mentioned that Duncan is going to spend the weekend with the kids because they fear he's going to send them away. But then nothing happens. It would have been nice to see him spending time with them. Other than Jordan making him have breakfast with them, he spent very little time with them.

I feel it is important to point out two things about my reading habits. 1. I only read m/m 2. I'm a very laid back reader.
I enjoyed this one. It's a 3.5 star. Typical shifter fare, but it was a cut above many m/m shifter stories. The author creates an interesting world, populated with lots of paranormal types. At times, I found some of the characters annoying. Then at other times I was pleasantly surprised when one reacted differently than I expected. The kids were adorable.
The timeline shifted awkwardly a few times. I found the lack of security at the mansion a little suspect especially with there being kids. Editing was better than a lot of m/m I've read, but not great especially in comparison to mainstream publishing.
I enjoyed the story itself and will probably read the next in the series.
