Now that BFL founder Bill Phillips has jumped off the EAS train and started a new company, it appears the company which brings you Myoplex and a host of other supplements has rephrased the original BFL book. This time, we follow two champions, one a Marine and one a daughter of a BFL Champion (who is also a personal trainer. Gee. Guess she'll succeed with that sort of training.)

The stories are interesting, and the tips from other BLF Champions are helpful at times. But frankly, there's a point where the book seems like a giant EAS ad. In short, if you're interested in BFL, read the original BFL and Eating for Life books.

I've read and tried stacks of fitness articles and books, mostly articles in fitness magazines (Self, Shape, Yoga Journal) and the Western canon looking to translate yoga and tai chi. The problem with me is that I always thought that if I lifted weights, I'd gain muscle too fast.

This book has inspired me to try again, but mix it with the flow practices that I enjoy so much on cardio days. I'd like to focus on the muscle groups that align in the workouts somehow, and I.think it'll be an advanced exercise in systemic thinking.

Not on the exact program, but I have no desire to look like a body builder!

We'll see!

Champions Body for LIFE by Art Carey follows up on the original Body-for-LIFE book (by Mark Phillips) with motivational stories from past champions. Inspiring tales include how both Kelly Adair and her daughter Alexa became champions. Each champion shares the life events that led to starting the program, how they overcame obstacles during the challenge, and favorite healthy recipes. Body-for-LIFE is much more than a diet and exercise plan - it's a transformation. When you begin the 12 week program, you can say Goodbye to hunger; as you follow the program, say Hello to increased energy and fitness. Frequent small balanced meals of nutritious food, plus daily exercise, is the formula for a strong healthy body.

I prefer the original Body For Life by Bill Phillips. This was good for getting me motivated to eat better and exercise the BFL way. I am already seeing results and am feeling so much better. This version was OK but I wish I still owned my copy of the original. This one was all over the place and not as orderly as my mind likes to read things. Still, it's a good book but if you've never read the first, I recommend it.

Meh...perhaps the original Body For Life would have been a better read. There were very few pages in the book with actual information on the eating plan. It did explain, in detail, the excercize plan. Plus, I am not a fan of testimonials, which makes up about 85% of this book - no lie! I will head back to the library for the original version.

This book does seem to lack the personal touch that Bill Phillips book had. It instead seems to be by the "good people at Abbott Laboratories" who bought out EAS. In either case, the book is not as bad as that makes it sound. It is a decent companion to the original book and follows the week by week progress of two of the champions.

This book was good to get the basic work out and eating plans. However, half of the box I just flipped through since it was mostly participant testimonials. The real meat and potatoes of the program are in the back of the book.

I liked the book, a bit too much of promoting the supplements.

Skip this one and get the original book if it's your cup of tea. The program in general seems a little outdated.

Mostly testimonials and hard to navigate. Stick with the original.

Great book. You may want to read Body For Life first to understand the program, but it is very encouraging to read the weekly updates.
