Lisa Jackson is the number-one New York Times bestselling author of over ninety-five novels, including the Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya Series, the Pescoli and Alvarez Series, the Savannah series, and numerous stand alone novels. She also is the co-author of One Last Breath, Last Girl Standing, and the Colony Series, written with her sister and bestselling author Nancy Bush, as well as the collaborative novels Sinister and Ominous, written with Nancy Bush and Rosalind Noonan. There are over thirty million copies of her novels in print and her writing has been translated into twenty languages.

Before she became a nationally bestselling author, she was a mother struggling to keep food on the table by writing novels, hoping against hope that someone would pay her for them. Today, neck deep in murder, her books appear on The New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly national bestseller lists.

With dozens of bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity—and back—in novels that buzz with dangerous secrets and deadly passions. She continues to be fascinated by the minds and motives of both her killers and their pursuers—the personal, the professional, and the downright twisted. As she builds the puzzle of relationships, actions, clues, lies, and personal histories that haunt her protagonists, she must also confront the fear and terror faced by her victims and the harsh and enduring truth that, in the real world, terror and madness touch far too many lives and families.

Pretty good. Lauren Regis has been looking for her children for over a year after her ex husband ran away with them. After using several attorneys and private investigators there are still no leads whatsoever. She finally approached Zachary Winters, a hardened lawyer with a ambiguous past, to try and locate her kids. Hesitant at first to accept the case, Zachary takes one look at Lauren’s desperate and saddened eyes and agrees to help her. But they find more than they were looking for….
Cute, and sweet. A little slow because for a majority of the book they had absolutely no leads in their case and just talked about how badly they needed to find the kids. But it resolved nicely and not too much conflict, fairly simple.

Lisa Jackson lebt in Oregon. (Quelle: Droemer Knaur)

It's clear Lisa Jackson was drawn to the emotional/dark aspects of plotting as opposed to romance. The sex/sensuous scenes are pretty tepid. But while this is a pretty dark plot for a romance, I mostly enjoyed it. The writing is good, and she does a solid job of portraying how little this woman, whose children were kidnapped by her ex husband a year prior, is taken seriously. She is offered very little support by the men (boss, lawyers, friends) around her, and she has to be tough and tenacious herself. I commend the depiction of the main heroine as tough, but also loving and intelligent. So that leaves us with the hero, Zachary, her new lawyer. Zachary is dark, brooding, and takes the heroine's case more from attraction than belief that her children can or even should be found. Their scenes/dialogue, monologues are good and the relationship is built up fairly well; both have dark pasts/trauma which they slowly work to overcome and are portrayed movingly in the book. The main issue is how neatly resolved and rushed the ending is. The heroine's alcoholic, abusive, unemployed ex-husband refuses to give up the kids (of course) once they are located, and Zachary shockingly suggests that the heroine should not sue for custody, that she should just keep things the way they are. This seems like it is motivated by his desire to have her all to himself and have his own children with her. The heroine is righteously furious and leaves him, but fortunately a near death experience for the ex husband resolves everything neatly....too neatly. Zachary rushes to marry the heroine, move her and her kids to his house, and buy a dog a mere two weeks after the return of the children. Like really? There couldn't have been a year or even 6 month time jump before the kids are re-introduced to a new step parent, a new house, and a pet when they were kidnapped for over a year?

Lauren Regis hires an attorney to help her find her children who were stolen from her by her ex-husband. She has been looking for them for over a year. She is on her third attorney Zachary Winters, who was recommended by the bank's attorney, who did not have any luck in finding them. Zachary at first refuses because he thinks they might be dead or out of the country. She decides to go on TV and announce that her ex-husband has stolen her children and has disappeared. Zachary decides to take the case and promises he will not stop until he finds them. They get a lead from a woman, who had an affair with Doug while he was married. She gives them a phone number he gave her if she changed her mind about coming with him. Zachary has an idea of placing an ad in paper in Idaho on her daughter's birthday. The school they children go to call her and they headed for Idaho. They get Doug's address but he refuses to let Lauren see the children. She tells him she will sue for custody. They leave Idaho and go back to Portland. A few weeks pass, when she gets a phone call from Becky and tells her Doug was in a terrible accident at work.

This book has a good premise, but it has two fatal flaws. First, it is highly unrealistic that someone would kidnap children and no one throughout the entire book seems to think that the police should be involved and prosecute him for kidnapping. Second, it is highly offensive and ableist That what redeem the villain in the end is becoming blind. This is terribly offensive to blind people and anyone with a disability, like becoming disabled somehow makes you worthy of pity and being forgiven for kidnapping because your life is so terrible now.

The concept was interesting, but there a certain type of romance novel using words frequently like: "tenderly", "gently" "offering comfort","passionately" "eyes filling with unshed tears" which I see and very cringey and makes me want to puke. This was one of them.

This had the potential to be a great book, but fell short with a very boring, lingering story line. I only gave it 3 stars because I love this author and she has written so many 5 star books.

Always love Lisa Jackson, so when I saw this book on disc at my local library, I had to give it a try. Zachary's Law, is about a Lauren Regis, a young mother whose children get kidnapped by her ex-husband. After more than a year of searching, she turns to Zachary Winters, a supposedly creative lawyer in town, to try and help bring her kids home.
The story was a very nice, easy read. The characters are personable and the story is simple to follow. Jackson's books are always an easy read for me, but usually her female leads are strong willed. And while Lauren is a strong woman is some respects, I felt as if she was completely weak, niave and crazy in others. In what sounds to be a weeks time, Lauren falls head over heals in love with Zachary, the man trying to help her locate her children. It was just a little too much, a little too soon, and not at all realistic.
Zachary does have some ideas on how to help locate the two children, but I didn't feel they were as creative and interesting as the book jacket made it sound. Simple detective work at its luckiest perhaps?!
All in all, the book was an easy read with a predictably happy ending. But again, I think Jackson makes Lauren out to be a naive young mother which somewhat annoyed me. I would think a woman who had her children ripped away from her would be much more skeptical of everyone than Lauren turned out to be. But, if you are looking for an easy weekend read, I would suggest Zachary's Law! 3/5 stars

I wounder if author Lisa Jackson is a name I should recognize. It's a missing children story and they're pretty hard to read. Not sure (I'm on page 100 or so) if I'm buying into the story. That is, is it accurate, authentic ... not too "romanced" up.

Edited to say it was OKish until the end. Here's the deal -- her former husband disappeared with her children and 16 months later, when the children are located, her lover/lawyer says we have to go slow on reclaiming the children. Which may be psychologically sound but it was such a weird 360 degree turn. What is it about the men in these books (I'm thinking of "Cry No More") "thinking" for the mums who have had their children ripped away from them?

Good book. Lauren was so torn up over her missing children she was willing to do whatever it took to find them. She had been told that Zachary was the best, and when she couldn't reach him by phone she went to his office and waited. He didn't think they could be found, but something about her made him want to try. As they worked together she healed his heart, and she got stronger in her belief that they would find her kids. This was a very emotional story.

divorced mother of 2, Lauren Regis knows only lawyer Zachary Winters can help her located her son and daughter who was kidnapped 13 more than ago by her ex-husband. there is a lot of gossip surrounding Zachary after the death of his wife and his law partners suicide. Zachary is losing faith in himself and letting his law practice slide until Lauren forces her way not only in his office but in his life and heart
