Gabby St. Claire Thomas has been given the opportunity of a lifetime: heading up a privately funded Cold Case Squad and handpicking the team members. Persnickety Evie Manson and nerdy Sherman Gilbert join forces with Gabby to bring justice and solace to families who still want answers.

On their first case, the Squad discovers that the murders of Ron and Margie Simmons are more than cold—they’re frozen solid. The couple’s anniversary celebration ended as a double homicide, and ten years later their daughter still longs for answers. But who would kill the loving couple? What kind of secrets hid beneath their cheery, All-American exteriors?

With every new lead, someone tries to sabotage their investigation . . . but the team might just end up being their own worst enemies. As a deadline presses in, can Gabby and her Squad bring the heat? Or will this cold-case killer make a clean getaway?

Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

CLEAN GETAWAY is book 13 in Ms. Barritt's popular Squeaky Clean Mysteries, but book 1 in the Cold Case Squad part of it.. Needless to say that except for Gabby's husband and circle of friends and coworkers this book stands alone.

Written in first person, the reader is in Gabby's head and knows all her thoughts and suspicions. This can be good as the attacks toward Gabby and her coworker Evie start almost immediately. It definitely keeps the reader reading.

I did guess part of who-dun-it right away when the person was introduced in the story, but only because I know the genre and the formula. I did have to keep reading to find out why, and then of course, I discovered much more to the case than I initially thought. Ms. Barritt is a master at keeping the reader guessing and with her wacky sense of humor, this book is read with a smile and many chuckles.

If you like cozy mysteries, then don't miss CLEAN GETAWAY by Christy Barritt. You'll stay up all night reading this page turner.

I was given a free copy. All opinions are my own.

The Squeaky Clean Mysteries were my first introduction to Christy Barritt's writing, and the series has a special place in my heart. I enjoy and get excited when I hear that Barritt is writing another book in this series. Currently, there are thirteen plus books in this series with a couple of spin-off series or books. So there are plenty of stories out there to wet anyone's appetite for more. With her newest release of the Squeaky Clean Mysteries, Clean Getaway, I really enjoyed the hunt for justice. Gabby is once again on the hunt to solve a mystery, but this time, Barritt places Gabby in a hunt for a Cold Case that happened ten years. With her many chances at someone trying to kill her and her team, Gabby learns to keep trusting in God and trying to accept Evie as a friend. The mystery keeps getting deeper and deeper as I traveled through the story with Gabby. I really enjoyed this addition to the series, and as always, look forward to what Barritt comes up with next.

I received a complimentary copy of Clean Getaway by Christy Barritt from Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.

I was looking forward to a brand new "Gabby Book" coming out, as she is probably my favorite person out of all of Christy Barritt's fictional characters, and I have enjoyed seeing Gabby mature and grow. I like the idea of the Cold Case Squad, and enjoyed the new team members, Evie and Sherman, but I have to say, I truly missed the collection of friends who lived in Gabby's apartment building in the earlier books. Even though Gabby talked with Riley on the phone, it just wasn't the same. Gabby is just getting her feet wet in this new venture, and can't decide if she even likes her team members, but they do end up working well together when trying to solve a ten year old double homicide. I debated about giving it 4 or 5 stars (wish there was a 4.5), but only because I missed the interaction between Gabby and her husband and friends, so some of the quirky humor and familiarity seemed to be lacking, as compared to earlier books. I did enjoy this book though and look forward to the next Cold Case. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are my own.

Christy Barrett's Books are Addictive!

All of Christy Barrett's novels are page turners... This one is no exception! I love her humor, her character development, and great mysteries and romance. I'll credit Christy Barrett with my lack of sleep, not because her books are terribly scary (though they ARE suspenseful!) but because I can't stop reading them late into the night. Gotta find out what's going to happen next. I also love the realness of her characters. I feel like I know Gabby personally and Riley and all the characters. I want to know them better and find out what happens next. It's a great way to take temporary escapes from my own stressful life and delve into a great story! Be careful reading her books... They're truly addictive! I may have to start a self-help group for people, like me, who can't stop clicking on her books and reading them when they should be sleeping.

Another suspenseful book in the Squeaky Clean Mysteries and the first in the Cold Case Files. I saw that a number of reviewers had said that they had guessed who the murdered was when the murdered first came on the scene but I was blindsided. I did not guess. In this book Gabby teams up with Evie and Sherman who were introduced in book 9 Broom and Gloom. These two people were at the forensic conference Gabby attended in Oklahoma. I'm looking forward to more books with these two in it. I thought Evie was not very likeable. She was difficult to get along with but you find out later in the book the reason she acts the way she does. She has a mystery in her life of her own that I hope will be explored in a later book.

Lots of twists in turns in this book. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series. Only one more for me to read so I hope the author will keep writing them.

This Author continues to amaze me with every book she writes. I love this new spin off to the Squeaky Clean series. Gabby and Evie are shaping up to be an interesting pair. It will be fun to see how their relationship develops over time. This murder was a little easier for me to figure out than some of her other books but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it. In fact, I am sick and should be sleeping but couldn't put it down once I got towards the end. Great book, amazing detail and description, fun characters! I loved all the song references and the mention of kopi luwak coffee. I'm not of coffee drinker, at all, but I learned of kopi luwak coffee watching the movie The Bucket List. Funny, but disgusting. Can't wait to read more in the Cold Case Files!

Heading a newly-formed cold case team, Gabby St. Claire flexes new skills to provide answers for unsolved crimes. Her first case is beyond complex. Ron and Margie Simmons' deaths 10 years prior on their anniversary was a local tragedy.

Gabby's stacked the deck with gifted teammates who are unfortunately low on social skills. Will they solve the crime or implode the team? With small town dynamics at play, danger hides behind every corner.

Looking for great mystery with an attitude? Then Clean Getaway should be at the top of your list. Christy Barritt meets that need with another twisty mystery.

I received a complimentary copy of the book. This review is my own opinion.

This is another action packed suspenseful story by Christy Barritt.
Wow....! Can she write amazing books.
It seems like trouble follows Gabby around wherever she goes. This time she's just trying to start her new business, the Cold Case Squad. Unfortunately, nothing seems to turn out right and every time they get new information something happens to slow them down.
This story has lots of action, suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat, drama with more twist and turns, as well as, fun bits of romance.
Christy Barritt is a fantastic author and every book she writes I will always buy. I highly recommend this book.

Jessie Simmons' parents were murdered ten years ago. Her boss, Garrett Merced, hired Gabby Thomas to reopen the case. Gabby and two friends, Evie and Sherman interviewed people, got in some sticky situations, and were nearly killed a few times. Finally the mystery was solved...with a twist nobody expected. The author gave me this book in exchange for an honest review. I really believe you would like this book. It is number 13 of the Squeaky Clean Mystery Series. Try them all! You won't be disappointed.

It Certainly Keeps You Wondering

I really enjoyed this book. While I must admit that I fought myself confused at times, it wasn't in a bad way, just that every time I thought I knew who the culprit(s) might be, the story took a different turn. Ultimately, though, I discovered that my first inclinations were correct, but I never would have figured out the motive until the moment it was actually revealed. Clean Getaway is a good read.

Gabby gets the ultimate professional opportunity to head up her own team investigating cold cases. Full of herself Evie Manson and geek Sherman Gilbert join her team and Gabby is found balancing a new career with new colleagues.

I absolutely love that Gabby has a partner in Riley that she can confide in and who supports her. It is a great example of what a couple should do and how hard it is to do sometimes.

I can't wait to go on another adventure with Gabby!

So one series has morphed into another... and I like it! Gabby is finally doing stuff she loves and with the man of her dreams. It was such a journey as a reader, following her ups and downs and I must confess I am hooked!
I like her sidekicks (I liked them when they were introduced in an earlier book) and I am glad they are back. So colourful and varied.
Looking forward to more from this author

I have just finished this book and Christy Barritt does not disappoint. I have been following this series from the beginning and this one was just as good, in my opinion, as the first one. The storyline moves quickly, I can totally relate to Gabby and I love how the characters relate to each other. I'm not leaving spoilers, but for anybody who hasn't read this book or anything of Christy Barritt's, you must if you like mystery, suspense books with relatable characters

Book one, Clean Getaway, in the Squeaky Clean Series: Cold Case Squad Trilogy, is a great beginning to the series. I love the three main characters, Gabby, Evie and Sherman, that begin to make up the cold case squad. The squad works well together to solve the case . There is a lot of investigating that they do throughout the book which keeps the reader guessing, who done it? I really enjoyed the way the squad worked together to solve this mystery.

Love reading Gabby mysteries and this first cold case mystery really was a good read. It was hard to put down as the clues unfolded and I must confess this is the first Squeaky Clean mystery I guessed right. It will be interesting to read the next cold case with Evie and Sherman working with Gabby again. This book was a gift rom the author and the review is my own opinions.

I really enjoy all the Squeaky Clean series and this one as well and can't wait for the next installment. Gabby makes you root for her at every turn and she's pretty good at making herself forgive people even when they don't deserve it. The only small complaint I have for this book is it seemed that it wrapped up quickly at the end.

You would think Barritt would have run out of ideas for the squeaky clean series, but no! She’s done it again with another fabulous book! A must read. Slightly different from the previous books in that she begins a “Cold Case Squad”, but this keeps the story even fresher and we still get to enjoy the Gabby we have come to know so well.

The daughter wanted answers, about the night and how her parent were killed.Gabby and her team start asking questions, and accidents are happening to delay them. Had a lot of twists, mishaps and they kept at it.
A good surprising ending. The daughter thought it was him all along. Well written, good characters

A new spin on the Gabby series. I love it. It was great to find old characters joining Gabby.

Gabby has been hired to form a team to solve cold cases. Can they solve a 15-year-old cold case in a week? Apparently, someone is intent on scaring them away...or maybe be just killing them.

I love this new side of Gabby as she works at solving a cold case. She teams up with some of her old colleagues and then the fun begins. She puts to use many of the things that she has learns over time and does not give up even with all that is thrown at her.

Mystery ...Humor

Mystery plot ...with just the right amount of humor mixed into the story. Some authors pull in some humor but this author is still pulling in fresh humor in book 13, well done

Sad that I think I have come to the end of Gabby books. I loved them all. Great series. If you like a mystery that isn’t obvious, but shirt, quick, quirky reads, this series is for you. I like the authors style and will most likely read some of her other mystery books.

Great Read

I couldn't put it down! All Christy's books have an unexpected ending. I sort of wish they were longer, yet if they were longer, I'd never get to bed at night. I keep reading till I find out who dun it!

Loved these books!

The characters were fun, the stories were well written, fast paced and very intriguing. I could really relate with Gabby learning how to work out her faith and standing strong in the Lord no matter what we face.
