Taming a Rogue Earl is the sixth book in the Taming the Heart series, and as with the prior books it can be read as a standalone novel. With this one, more so than the prior books, I would certainly suggest picking up the prior books if you want the full experience of the story. Each story is connected through the characters, yet this one is based quite heavily upon events in prior books. There are enough references for you to understand the story without the prior books, but a much deeper understanding occurs if you’ve read the prior books.

In Taming a Savage Gentleman, we were introduced to Loudoun. I wasn’t crazy about his character at first, but he developed so much throughout the story that I was left super interested in seeing how his story would play out. With the preview into his story given at the end of Taming a Savage Gentleman, I knew I would have a lot of fun with his story.

As expected, Taming a Rogue Earl was a lot of fun. It had all the high points of the prior books, whilst also ensuring I came to really enjoy Loudoun as a character. It’s this development between the two books that leaves me believing a much better experience of this story can be had if you’ve read the prior books. In addition to Loudoun becoming a much stronger character in my mind, I really enjoyed finding out more about May. May was always there in the background, and it was great to get a story of her happily ever after.

As with the prior books in the series, it’s a read you can complete in a single sitting. Despite the length, you’re pulled completely into the story. The characters grip you, the events entertain you, and the romance will leave you experiencing the necessary highs and lows. Although Taming a Laird’s Wild Lady is my favourite book in the series, Taming a Rogue Earl is certainly up there is my favourites. The subtle changes made to the story – the change of scenery, the history between the characters, and the way it linked back so well to the prior book – left me enjoying this one is a vastly different way to how I enjoyed the prior books. All the books are wonderful reads, but this one feels different. Not a bad kind of different – it simply leaves you experiencing a different range of emotions.

As I’d hoped, this was a wonderful addition to the series. It was so nice to revisit a character who wasn’t originally a favourite, watching the changes take place that allowed me to enjoy him much more.

As a final note, I would like to thank Aurora Publicity for allowing me to read this in exchange for a review: I had a lot of fun with this one, and look forward to Tammy Andresen’s next release.

Taming A Rogue Earl by Tammy Andresen is a fairly quick historical romance, a great choice for those with limited time for reading. Ms Andresen has delivered a well-written book. Lucius and May's story is loaded with amazing, lovable characters. You have to admire May's determination. There is plenty of drama, humor, action and sizzle to keep readers engaged in this fabulous book. I adore the characters and enjoyed reading Taming A Rogue Earl. I look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Taming A Rogue Earl is book 6 of the Taming The Heart Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I received this in exchange for an honest review.
Lucius Loudoun is an Earl, as well as a drunk and a womanizer. He first meets May on a transatlantic journey from England to NY when she is only 13 years old in 1860. Jump ahead to 1866. Lucius has managed to stay sober all these years and has become a successful businessman. May once again comes to NY, only now she is all grown up and beautiful. When they reconnect May realizes she is in love with Lucius and wants to marry him. He does not feel worthy of her and doesn't believe he can love anyone. Throw in a sinister father & son and a kidnapping and you have the makings of a delightful summer read.

Lord Lucius Loudoun was a drunk but six years later & he’s running Barrett Maddox’s American businesses & he hasn’t touched a drop of booze in all that time.
May Stanly has loved Loudoun since she was a child, but he looks straight through her, still treating her like she's a girl of thirteen instead of a woman of twenty. I thoroughly disliked Lucius in the previous book & wondered if he could redeem himself. I needn’t have feared, he’s a changed man, he now works hard & enjoys it. I liked May as a young girl & continued to like her as a young woman. This was a lovely read which I read in a sitting.

May, at a young age, has seen Loudon at his absolute worst – a drunken man who needed to detox. Now May is no longer a young girl but a beautiful young lady who wants to stay in America. Her adopted father, Barrett, wants to see her married. May has her eyes set on one man, Loudon, and she has to figure out a way to make that happen. Loudon, whose parents used him as pawn, doesn’t know love. Will May be able to show that he can love and deserves to be loved? “Taming a Rogue Earl” is another great read in the Taming an Earl series.

A bit too repetitive for my taste.

I don’t love you, oh but I want you, oh but I’m not good enough for you, oh but I can’t love you, oh but I want you, oh but I’m no good for you ad nauseam. Then finally, imagine this, he does love her, he still wants her and she’ll have him anyways.

TAMING A ROGUE EARL by Tammy Andresen is a compelling but heart-wretching story of a young lady and a past alcoholic who became friends in the previous book. While, book 6 it can be read as a stand alone, I'd suggest reading the previous book first, for a bit of back story of May and Lucius. But not necessary to enjoy this book.

This is the story of May Stanley, a 20 year old lady and Lord Lucius Loudoun, an alcoholic, who is now a shrewd businessman. This story takes place in America, in 1866. May has returned to America with one of her guardians, the Duke of Manchester, who is a friend of Lycius and he works with him in the shipping business. The Duke of Manchester has always believed in Lucius. May is seeking a husband, one who will stay in America. ....so begins her struggle to gain Lucius' heart.
A story of an alcoholic, who has changed his life, to a better one, and a naive, impressable young lady. Lucius tried to stay away from May, but she'll have none of that. Lucius believes himself unlovable. May is out to prove him wrong.

Fast paced, quick read, approximately 162 pages, but very heart-wretching, with well-developed and engaging characters with a few unsavory characters, as well, although May is a bit naive. The plot was interesting with elements of mystery, drama, a bit of action, a bit of suspense, lots of romance and passion. Ms. Andresen manages to weave a bit of humor throughout this story.
Ms. Andresen never disappoints her readers, but she manages to write topics readers can relate to, about people who feel realistic and are believable. I enjoyed Lucius and May's story. It had to be a difficult story to write, so, many strong feelings, in writing a story of an alcoholic and a young lady. I have a bit of a soft spot for alcoholics, their struggles, their circumstances and their will to overcome. My hat goes off to Tammy Andresen for writing a suburb story! Strongly recommended.

Lord Lucius Loudoun has had a hard time in life and love, a man down on his luck a reprobate and a drunk.
After a failed attempt at marriage for all the wrong reasons - to replenish the coffers for the Earldom. Luckily for Lady Flora Segrave she married the man she loved! He fell deeper into drinking and it almost killed him, if it wasn't for Barrett Maddox the sixth Duke of Manchester who gave him a chance to turn his life around, boarding The Destiny on the voyage from England to America his only recollection of the trip was May Stanley who was his nursemaid and his only true friend.
Six years later he's turned his life around, hasn't touched a single drop of alcohol and made a success of his end of the business. He excelled at everything he was known as the hardest working man on the East Coast his only vices now were women and work. No Gambling, no drinking and no commitments of the emotional kind.
Fast forward six years and he once again comes face to face with May. And boy has she changed no longer the little girl who kept him company and nursed him at one of his life's worst moments. The connection is instant May accepts and confesses her love to him even though he truly tries not to give in she has become his obsession.
Lucius can't accept her being someone else's wife but he can't be an obstacle for her happiness. What is he to do? An attempted abduction seals the deal for him. His life isn't complete without May in his life.
This was a relatively short read, it grabbed my attention from the previous book really wanted to see how his Happy Ever After came about, I wasn't disappointed it was a page turner and enjoyable with the right amount of steam, the chemistry between May and Lucius definitely felt real, my heart broke for poor Lucius and May was young but she knew that he was her soulmate.

I received a complimentary copy from the author for my honest unbiased opinion.

Earl Lucius Loudoun is aboard ship traveling to New York. A peer in need of money, he had hoped to marry the rich Baroness Flora Segrave, but she married someone else. Traveling with Lucius are Barrett Maddox the sixth Duke of Manchester and his niece, 13-year-old May Stanly.

New York - 1866

Loudoun is a man who misses drinking but as it is something he could never handle, he must never drink again. It has been six years since he has had a drink. Loudoun works for Barrett Maddox running the American branch of his shipping company. Now, he needs to find a local railroad to work only for them and tonight he is playing cards with the owner of the Jefferson Railroad hoping to do business with him.

Barrett arrives unexpectedly with May Stanly who has now grown into a beautiful young woman. May loves America and has no regrets at missing her London season. Barrett has come to audit the business and May is delighted to be allowed to accompany him and would love to stay and live in America. Her parents died in an accident when she was quite young and she has been living with her uncle, Barrett. However, he wants May to return to England and marry the Earl of Rutland. However, the Earl is a pompous man and May is not interested in him.

While they are in America, they are staying with Loudoun at his home. May wants to meet some people but Loudoun is quite protective of her as he knows that some men are rogues. May loves his caring and concern for him and is attracted to him, but he thinks she is too young for him. As he had a sad childhood with parents who did not love him, he has a hard time accepting love. Oh, but May is one determined woman.

Will she be able to open his eyes to her love and can he allow himself to return that love?

This is a nice romance with some good characters that I am sure readers will enjoy.

This book is the last so far in a fun series by an author who writes a compelling and entertaining story. It is about a young woman, May, who sails to America with one of her adopted guardians from Regency England to check on the family business being run successfully by Lucius, a redeemed earl saved from the evils of alcohol. May and Lucius knew each other eight years ago and were friends on his voyage to live there.

For one so young, she is a woman who well knows her own mind and what she wants, a marriage and family of her own. He is a man who does not see himself worthy of a loving relationship with any woman since his own parents had no use for him or each other. These two people spend a lot of time with each other at Lucius' home in New York, after this particular trip of her guardian and hers, with much dissension along their path. They are an interesting pair and definitely a fun addition to the group of family and friends in the series. Ms. Andresen's books continue to be a pleasure to read!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review of it.

This book features the drunk Earl, Lucius Loudoun, from the previous book, and May, the younger cousin from Lizzie's book (two or three books ago). Six years after Loudoun nearly ruins Flora's life (yeah, I hated him in that book), he is in New York running the American branch of the Maddox shipping company. Barrett comes for a routine audit, bringing nineteen year old May along with him. May, being barely more than a child, has a fanciful idea of finding an American husband so she doesn't have to return to England, where she feels like an outsider....despite a loving upbringing by Lizzie and her husband Chris. And who does she decide she's in love with...?

This installment was just okay. The plot was alright, but I still didn't like Loudoun, and the creepy factor of him marrying a much-younger May, who still acts very childish, was a little too much.

I received a free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Lucius is one guy I have been wanting to learn some background info on. His serious drinking problem almost killed him in the last book I read. Now he is working in America for Barrett Maddox. During his "work", not only does Barrett show up, but he brings along another ghost from Lucius's past. The girl who basically nursed him back to health on his voyage over to America: May. That was six years ago. Now she's a woman of 19 and secretly looking for a husband so she doesn't have to return to England, where she feels she doesn't belong. Lo and behold, she and Lucius have some serious chemistry. However, he thinks he's no good for her and May just wants a chance to find somewhere she belongs. I really enjoyed learning more about Lucius, even if his past is rather heartbreaking. His and May's story was a great read!!

This is the 6th book in the Taming the Heart Series and is a story of a tortured soul and the woman that tries to save him. Lord Lucious Loudon is trying to outrun his addiction and takes a ship to America from England with his friend Barrett, the Duke of Manchester and Barrett's ward May. Granted May is only 13 but makes Lucious's journey bearable and helps him with his problems. Years later, Barrett and May come back to America to visit and Lucious is stunned at how beautiful May has grown. May has never forgotten Lucious and finds her heart is his and always has been. Tammy Andresen's writing pulls you in from the first page and does not let you go until the last. Strong emotions, suspense and even danger erupt and keeps the reader entranced. I truly could not put this book down and I know you will feel the same way.

“You’re innocent….And I am ruined in all the worst ways”
I have enjoyed all the stories in this series. The latest book, Taming a Rogue Earl, takes place in New York City in 1866. The main lead, Lord Lucius Loudoun, was not a favorite character of mine from the prior book but Ms Andresen soon had me rooting for him. She believably turned him into a successful business man. He was redeemed in my eyes and a hero – well done! He is suffering with thoughts that he’ll never be what any woman needs and that he’s not lovable. May is young but full of spunk and determination. She soothed him without him realizing it. As expected, Ms. Andresen has written well-developed and engaging characters. The plot was interesting with drama, action, unpleasant characters, romance and passion. I enjoyed Lucius and May's story. Easy, quick read. Enjoyable, another good addition to the series

Miss May Stanly and Lord Lucius Loudoun met aboard The Destiny bound for America, she was a lovely thirteen year old, travelling with the Duke of Manchester, and he was an impoverished earl who was feeling ill, suffering from seasickness and alcohol withdrawal. They struck an unlikely friendship.

That was six years ago, Lucius, who manages the Maddox Shipping in America, has been sober for all those years. May, has come to New York to look for a husband. A gorgeous man and an exquisite woman, one resisting the other, when they finally gave in to their feelings for each other, it was beautiful.

Tammy Andresen gets better every time. This is a standalone and a perfect summer read.

Taming A Rogue Earl by Tammy Andresen is the 6th book in Taming The Duke’s Heart series. Tammy is a brilliant writer and you just fall in love with all her bold characters. Her descriptions are so visual that you have no problems seeing the story and where it is going. This story has a recovering alcoholic, a child’s romantic dreams, business deals, infatuation, uncertainty, loneliness, unworthiness, joy, abduction, attempted rape, kindness, misunderstandings, gambling and love. Another must read by Tammy Andresen, I highly recommend this book and all of Tammy’s books. Travel across the sea to America in 1866 with Lucius Earl of Loudoun and May Maddox.

Ugh! So glad to be through with this annoying book. The unworthy and insecure yet alpha male vis~a~vis the crusading self~sacrificing maiden has been a "done to death" theme already. It actually had a very promising Prologue then it got to be painfully tiresome but because it is relatively a short read, I plodded on through Loudoun's tedious long winding angst and the sexy scenes (which is by the way, what this book is mostly about) and to be fair there were some Truths in there but those did not excuse the Annoying whole.

I really enjoyed this story concerning Lucius and May. Lucius was in the previous book and I didn't like his character at all. However he more than redeemed himself in this book and he fitted the character of a hero. May is quite a determined and headstrong character and there were some sizzling scenes between them. This was set in America, a change from England or Scotland. I look forward to the next book.
I received an arc and have voluntarily reviewed it. This is my honest review.

Lucius gets his HEA

Lucius (the drunken one from previous stories) finally gets himself sorted out with the help of May.

I really enjoyed this story and was very moved by Lucius’ history with his parents who had used him as a means of getting at each other, this resulted in Lucius not trusting in his ability to love.

One TINY gripe- the plural of father-in-law is fathers-in-law and not father-in-laws.

How to like a bad guy!

I was impressed by how you could take not very nice man from the last book and make him into the hero! awesome I like how she maneuvered to make it all work out . you really felt sorry for him and you wanted him to get the girl not to ruin the story ! I enjoyed her writing.

Historical English society romance with two English people making their way in New York city.
Lord Lucius Loudoun, an English Earl is a recovering alcoholic that has succeeded in a new life in New York after getting the kind help fo his friend the Duke, Barrett and his wade the young Miss May Stanley.
Miss May wants to marry someone American so she can stay in America and out of the snobby English high society, but she does eventually marry someone in America, but it forces her further into English high society so she gets half her wish.
Cute fluff story about people helping deserving people to get a better life.

Review originally posted on Ctrl, Alt, Books!

Taming a Rogue Earl was a short and sweet historical read. It kept me reading throughout and I couldn't wait to finish it. When you think of an Earl, you think of England. However this story takes place in America, which was a nice change in pace. I'm not much of a history buff but it is always fun to read historical works no matter how accurate they are or not.

Loudoun is a man who has made many mistakes in his past. In order to start fresh, he gives up the live of an Earl and leads the life of a working man. It has been many years since he last saw May. Since then, she has grown into a lovely woman. He tries hard to ignore this fact but he slowly develops feelings towards May. May on the other hand, has always had feelings for Loudoun. Now that she is a grown woman, she tries her hardest to land the perfect husband.

I read this book in a day. It was a combination of it being a relatively good sized book and a huge attention grabber. I loved it! It was a very easy read and highly enjoyable the entire time. For those looking for a historical read that is just the right length and has just the right amount of steam and romance, then this is for you.
