Riders on the Storm

WHEN A SERIES OF EVENTS SEND DARIAN INTO A DOWNWARD SPIRAL, FRANKIE WILL DISCOVER WHAT IT TRULY MEANS TO LOVE A MAN WHO’S LOST IT ALL.

Dear Francesca,

I’m writing to let you know I’m going to do as you asked. I’m going to leave you alone and hope that one day you’ll come back to me.

But I can’t sit in this house another minute. The absence of you is stifling. So I’m leaving for the island. Indefinitely.

I’m sorry, Francesca. I’m so very sorry. Please try to forgive me. And if you ever change your mind, I’ll be waiting.

I love you, Darian

Utterly Unputdownable!!

I say this with complete sincerity and confidence, Robin, you have arrived and have no doubt your name will climb way up on the “Who’s Who” list of romance authors!!

Just a quick backdrop ... I thankfully stumbled upon this author’s writing talent a few years ago when I was reading her book reviews on Goodreads. I kept thinking, ‘she needs to be writing her own novel,’ and much to my delight, she was already working on “Waiting For The Sun.”

I’ve been chomping at the bit to read since it’s release, but waited until I had a huge chunk of time where there would be absolutely no interruptions, and thank the stars, because I devoured it in one sitting!!

Have mercy, my emotions were all over the map. The peaks and valleys of Frankie and Darian’s relationship put me through the proverbial wringer, but it was worth every heart stopping moment, every ‘oh, please no’ moment, and every ‘aah’ moment!

Honest to goodness, I could just keep gushing over how much I loved the storyline, the characters, the witty banter, the writing style, the ... well, you get the point ;)

I will end with this simple advice. “Waiting For The Sun” and “Riders On The Storm” is definitely a romantic duet you won’t want to miss!!

I’ve been anticipating ROTS for quite awhile. Frankie and Darian have been in my thoughts ever since I finished book 1 - Waiting For The Sun. That’s a testament to the author and her excellent writing and storytelling. Riders on the Storm is pretty damn amazing. Robin Hill’s debut is fantastic and with this, her second book, she cements herself as an author to be reckoned with. Her writing and prose speaks to me. It truly is exquisitely told. The characters became people to me. People I was invested in and cared about. Frankie, Darian, Jane and Drew to name a few captured my heart.

The story of Frankie and Darian is the tale of falling in love and second chances. To embrace that second chance, accept and let go of the past. Frankie and Darian are two incredible characters, equally vulnerable and trying to make this very new relationship work but it’s not easy when both keep holding back and are not communicating properly. I enjoyed them navigating through their new relationship especially seeing it from Frankie’s POV. Everything is new, foreign and overwhelming and the only thing that she’s certain of is her love for Darian. He has his job and a whole different world compared to Frankie’s but they want to make it work. Their chemistry and connection is poignant and captures the early stages of love and a relationship beautifully. It’s not all bliss and they make mistakes. It’s a strong story of being human and going through life with all that encompasses.

There’s no question that I love Frankie and Darian but the secondary characters are pretty remarkable too. Frankie’s BFF Jane. She’s one hell of character. I love that woman. She’s not just Frankie’s BFF. She’s her family. She and her son Jacob is. Some of Frankie and Jane’s scenes hit me so hard. Their history and love. Phew... unconditional no matter what.
Darian’s BFF Drew was terrific too. Through ten years of pain and grief Drew stuck by Darian. Never giving up. Gloria and Evelyn. The two older and wiser ladies with so much poise and heart.

Riders on the Storm leaves me feeling so content and happy. This shining story is unforgettable all thanks to Robin Hill and her impeccable writing and storytelling. With her plot and characters she’s created a Duet that I truly will treasure and read again.
I’m ready for what comes next. This author delivers the goods.

5+ STARS!!

This was a sequel that was a long time coming. In reward of that wait, sheer perfection. I enjoyed Waiting for the Sun (book 1), but I abso-freaking-lutely LOVED Riders on the Storm. I had expectations, but this book was leaps and bounds better than I had ever anticipated. Riders was so crazy well-developed and thought out. Not one detail was overlooked. I was completely invested in Frankie and Darian’s romance, their struggles, and missteps, that I actually felt the physical ramifications. A wildly beating pulse, heart-sickness, and euphoric relief, to name a few. The story was full of sweetness, angst, and some shock, but never cliched or contrived. In the end, it was extremely well-written and satisfying with a moving story line and flawless dialogue. I have no doubt that Riders on the Storm will remain a 2019 favorite.

It's no secret that I know this author, that I'm friends with this author, that she helped me through the worst experience of my life, etc. etc That doesn't change the fact that she can write. This book is an emotional, up and down rollercoaster through the tumultuous relationship begun in Waiting for the Sun. Riders picks up literally where WFTS left off and Darian and Frankie's story is one of heartbreak and loss, healing and love, and ton of wit and intelligent, and authentic interaction between characters that feel like living, breathing people. People you might meet and want to have chicken and waffles with. (vegetarian chicken patties--they' ve made huge strides in meatless meat products, don't knock it until you try it :P )

But I digress.

Robin's wit and loving soul comes through every page, and I'm so proud to have watched the evolution of this duet into the full-blooded story it is today.

5+ "I'll follow you anywhere" stars!!

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of Riders on the Storm. I've been eagerly awaiting its release since I finished reading the last page of Waiting for the Sun...

Needless to say, it was well worth the wait! We get to peak in on Frankie and Darian's love story to see how they are progressing. I'm so attached to these two characters...not that I don't want to give them both a stern talking to from time to time. They both have some baggage to deal with though. Darian's is very obvious and large (like an oversized suitcase that is bulging at the seams) and Frankie's is a bit more tucked away (like a carry-on bag). That said, it's a lot to work through, they are horrible communicators and they are still new and insecure in their relationship. Combine that with the fact that Darian is battling numerous issues around the 10 year anniversary of his most heartbreaking loss and it's a recipe for trouble.

"Jane said loving Darian wouldn’t be easy, but she was wrong. He’s easy to love. It’s watching him hurt that’s hard..."

As much as I loved this story, one should be aware, it is titled Riders on the Storm for a reason...it gets stormy!!! It is not a sweet little story. It is loaded with some intensely emotional and angst-filled moments. There were a few points in the book, when I was so worked up over what was happening that my stomach was cramping. Some people may say I'm being a bit dramatic. However, I believe that when an author possesses a talent strong enough to make me feel something completely amazing with just their words, they have an incredible ability. Robin Hill is an author of this caliber and I look forward to reading more of her beautiful words in the future.

Y’all! I rode the storm and barely survived! Things got pretty intense and I almost had a coronary, though. Gahh this story was fantastic! It was so well written and flowed so well . Hard to believe this is only RH’s second book. WHAT?! Written like a seasoned pro! The storyline was perfect and Darian’s and Francesca’s connection was undeniable. Great playlist and song references made it even more enjoyable. Loved the secondary characters too..and hope to read more about them down the road. Capiche Robin?? One of my favorite duets ever. Looking forward to more awesomeness from Robin.

There is no doubt that this is a 5 star read. I just need to pull my thoughts together first.

I wanted to stop the world and just read. And I kind of did. I read this in one day. It was just that good. And it picks up where Waiting for the Sun ends. Darian and Frankie gripped my heart in a tight squeeze and didn’t let go until the very last page. I loved every minute of it.

Darian is again so dreamy, careful and tender with his Francesca. He’s kind and considerate and a little prickly at times too. He’s been through so much but his love for her is undeniable. I feel it but I also feel his pain and he’s got a ton of it.

There are times that Frankie shows her age but she really is an old soul. She’s beautiful and strong and just what Darian needs. She’s so selfless with such a big heart. Like Darian, she took my breath away.

Plus we get some amazing supporting characters. Jane, Drew, Evelyn & Gloria are the kind of people you need in your corner. When an author can even create a character you love to hate and hate to love, they’ve done it right.

The writing is simply wonderful. Filled with rich and warm prose there are also fun scenes, text messages, sweet questions and music. Lots of music. Though I may have to disagree with the Sammy Hagar pick. David Lee Roth all the way. ;)

Love and life are scary and exhilarating all at the same time and their love story captures it perfectly. There is no doubt heartache is interspersed throughout the pages. What true love story doesn’t? But it’s crafted in a way that doesn’t overwhelm. Robin Hill carefully cradled my angst-weary heart and wrote a love that left me equal parts smiling and sighing. It’s a stunning debut. I’m left feeling totally blissful and with a full heart.

I went in to this straight after a re-read of book one Waiting for the Sun, heavily invested in Francesca and Darian's happiness.

What a journey! This was a turbulent ride and I wasn't sure my little heart could take it. It was a gut punch, I just wanted to wrap Francesca in a big hug. I don't want to get spoilery so I will just say: you need wine, and tissues for this one, trust me!

The secondary characters are so well developed that I long to know about their lives and I will keep everything crossed that they get their own stories, especially Jane. She's the friend that we all need to be!

Once I started I could not put this book down, I loved it so hard. Another amazing read from Robin Hill, I cannot wait for more!

5*

OMG, am I tired. Warning, do not get near the end at 10-11pm. You'll be stuck reading and not wanting to put the book down. Downside? I'm sleepy after staying up to finish the book. Seriously, the end angsty spot got me sucked in until I wanted to say "screw sleep".

That said, it was what I had hoped their end story was. I loved all of it, even the male POV since it was done in such a way that it didn't break the angst when we didn't know what was going on.

Both books in the duet are available so go read this!

Tell me again why we can only give 5 stars???

Last year I read a debut novel by this chick Robin Hill called Waiting for the Sun. It kept popping up on my Goodreads as "if you liked this....you might like WTFS" and I saw it a couple of times mentioned in some FB groups, read the blurb, thought ok - let's give it a whirl.

I was just in awe that WFTS was Robin's debut...and damned if it didn't end in a cliffy...(refer to my review). I then kind of perused social media - lo and behold found this kickass FB Group Robin Hill's Books, Boys & Booze and I just had to join. If anything, I needed to know how things were coming with ROTS and found some pretty fabulous people in this world!

Ok, back to ROTS....extremely honored to be able to read this book before it's release.

ROTS picks right up where WFTS left off...what is Darian going to propose and what is Frankie's reaction to that proposal? We continue to get Jane, Drew, Gloria and we meet Evelyn and Amanda...I immediately loved almost all of the supporting cast...one took a little longer...LOL But Robin's characters are relatable, I mean, I would totally want to learn how to play cubilete with Gloria, have margaritas and tapas with Evelyn! Jane is your typical BFF and we should all be lucky to have a Jane in our life! Then there is Drew....he is just the bees knees of friends.

We see more of Darian's struggle to deal with his past; learning to love again and Frankie's strength to endure and "ride out the storm". Yes, she is considerably younger than Darian, but she is an old soul and she loves that man something fierce. Ms. Hill gives us all the feels with these two...quick wit, food & drink, steam and without a doubt chemistry.

I have been very lucky with the books I have read this year and am happy to put ROTS as a top read of 2019 for me. This duet will remain with me for quite some time and I know that when I am missing these two, I can jump right back in again and will feel all the same feels I felt the first time around. Congratulations Robin Hill...well done!

To anyone who's read Robin Hill's debut Waiting for the Sun, it's no secret that she can write, but when you read Riders on the Storm, you realize that she can write. And she can do so with the best of them.

Riders picks up where WFTS ended, and then it takes off in an emotional story full of angst, romance, heartache, and hope as Frankie and Darian try to find their happily ever after. You accompany the couple through their ups and downs as a young woman without a lot of relationship experience questions whether she can be enough for a truly broken man. Then as the story progresses, you can't help but root for Frankie and Darian, no matter how badly each of them messes things up.

Frankie and Darian are one of my favorite couples ever, and Riders will be on my list of top reads for 2019. I was glued to the pages, inhaling them to find out what would happen next, yet at the same time, I never wanted it to end. If you're looking for a love story that grabs on to you and won't let go, I highly recommend Waiting for the Sun and Riders on the Storm!

If Waiting for the Sun was a 5 star read (which it was), then Riders on the Storm would be an 11 star read (which it is). Robin Hill toiled over these characters and this storyline for a long time in order to bring us what she lived with in her mind for years. And she has done an amazing job. The writing is witty, the characters are genuine, the situations are realistic. The angst is real and the heartbreak...well, it hurts. You can literally feel Frankie and Darian is if they were close friends you were watching go through all of this. I am always about the hero in any story, but in this duet, I was Team Frankie all the way. I adore her and darn it if I don't want to be more like her. Her love is pure, she is wise beyond her years, and she has such a funny inner voice (much like Robin).

So, Ms. Author (yep, you're truly an author), wrap yourself in a tight hug, celebrate doing this writing this so very successfully, and get your butt back in that writing chair soon, because I can't wait to see what you bring us next!

I was anxiously waiting for Frankie and Darien's story to continue! I was not disappointed!

The beginning of the book seemed slow and steady for me, but I was just waiting for sh!t to hit the fan! I have to say, I was not happy with Darien and his actions at certain times. And I wanted to shake Frankie a few times! Lol!

The last 50% had me flipping the pages....I needed to know how it would end!

Special shout out to Jane and Drew.... great best friends, and Evelyn.....she is surely the type of person everyone deserves in their life!

Now, I love The Doors, so all the references, AWESOME! And seriously, no lie, about 20 minutes after I finished the book, I got in the car and what was playing.......Break On Through by The Doors! Seemed so fitting, right?!?

Congrats to Robin and thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! So, when's the next book? Haha!

”Because that’s what you are to me, Francesca. My life was shadowed by something dark before you came along. I wouldn’t call it a black cloud; it was more like an umbrella because I held on to it—I carried it like I needed it. But then I met you.” He smiles. “And I was finally able to just…let it go. You changed everything. You brightened everything.”

The long awaited conclusion to Waiting for the Sun was SO WORTH THE WAIT! Riders on the Storm was everything I hoped it would be. More swoony Darian with a side of grumpy and irritable, more quirky, beautiful Frankie with a side of laugh out loud wit and humor. All the secondary characters we loved from the first book with the addition of Evelyn. I ADORED her. (And her love of tequila) she was no nonsense but not meddling. She was sweet but very direct and very witty. I just loved her character.

Riders on the Storm picks up exactly where Waiting for the Sun ends...we are whisked into the lives of Darian and Frankie who are moving very quickly in their relationship. The story delves into the tragic pasts and the current complexities of both the main characters. We see how the past and present effects their relationship moving forward. Plenty of swoon, plenty of angst, laughs, tears, misunderstandings, and truths withheld. The story is so well written, the characters so well developed, the story becomes an addictive page turner right out of the gate.

I became an instant fan of Robin Hill after her debut novel Waiting for the Sun...and I became even more impressed with her after Riders on the Storm. She is a truly gifted writer and storyteller. Her humor and wit is top notch. I am a forever fan and cannot wait for her next book! This duet was an amazing journey, Riders on the Storm was the perfect conclusion. Five phenomenal stars!!

While Darian and Francesca are trying for their relationship to work, secrets and misunderstandings arise testing their feelings and trust.

The writing is beautiful, the pace has a well-build pace and the characters are very well developed.

This was a beautiful, heart aching duet and one of my favourites for this year.

Mariana‘s paintings graced both book covers, sending so many messages through the visual. Both characters are portrayed with their back sides, representing the concept of introversion and the fear of what the future will bring. At the same time, both visuals are respectively connected to the titles.

The heart pounding conclusion to Waiting for the Sun!!!!!! 5+++ stars!! I tore through this in 1 glorious day! You know the kind of read where you literally have a strong hold on your kindle - as if things will happen the way you want them to if you grip harder!?!?!?!!

Yes this is book 2 picking up where 1 left off on a semi cliffhanger, and you can not read it without reading book 1. Have both books ready to go for maximum enjoyment - both available now!!! Borrow for free on Kindle Unlimited!!

I absolutely loved this duet ~ book 2 surpassed my expectations!!! Francesca and Darian had so much to navigate, yet the struggle was just so real! Throughout it all ~ the highs, the lows, the funny, and the serious - the banter remained magical!!! I love good fun banter!!! The whole setting surrounding Darian and Francesca was a breath of fresh air! The Florida Sun, the breeze, the island, the music, Jane and Drew, Gloria and Evelyn - and so many tender moments that happen in a grieving process!!! Gosh I am really going to miss all these characters and I am hoping someday we get the backstory on what Jane did in that decade!?!?!?!

Still can't believe this was a debut - You go Robin Hill!!!

I am so happy! My heart is full. I finally got to read the book I’ve been waiting not so patiently for for so long and it was everything I hoped it would be and more.

In Riders on the Storm, Robin has created a wonderful story of moving on from the past while still accepting and embracing it as a part of yourself. It’s an amazing tale of humans acting like humans sometimes do when they’re hurting, and of the deep love between two people overcoming all of that. It’s a turbulent ride filled with moments of deep emotion that tug at your heartstrings in the most exquisitely painful way.

Robin writes both knowledgeably and sensitively about the agony of loss and the difficulty of moving forwards while keeping your past with you always. I was touched constantly by the deep love between Frankie and Darian that allowed her to see beyond his out of character behaviour to the torment he was trying to hide. I laughed with them, cried with them, and would have liked to hit the alcohol with them at times.

I love the sharp, witty dialogue and the deeply rooted relationships we can see between characters, feeling like a part of their pasts despite only knowing them for the length of the duet.

In short, this book was everything Ive dreamed it would be and a million times more. It was a perfect and fitting end to a story that has touched my heart and left an indelible mark there.

I was excited to read the conclusion to Darian and Francesca’s love story. I enjoyed the first half but the second half didn’t quite wow me. It was too predictable and I didn’t care how in the end, every issue was so easily resolved. Darian was a very troubled man (who I came to dislike) who seemed to heal himself overnight and Francesca forgave too easily.

I must say that I thought the writing was well executed, it was just the direction the story took that didn’t sit well with me. Too much miscommunication and too much ugliness on the part of Darian didn’t give me the romance part to make me believe in these two. Maybe if I had more POVs from Darian I might have felt more for him. I do look forward to reading more from this author in the near future.

Riders on the Storm picked up right where Waiting for the Sun left off, and what a wild a ride this duet conclusion was!!

I have really loved my time with this duet. I love some good angst and drama in romance, and boy did this deliver. I think in book two I didn't have quite as great of a balance of good vs bad times for the couple, BUT the "bad" was still really good (what does this statement say about me, yikes lol). Some of the conflict was a bit too "miscommunication" heavy for me, and that is ultimately why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I just wanted to yell through my kindle "talk to each other!!!", but I think for me to feel that strongly shows how gripping and engaging this couple/story was. Overall, this was amazing though, and I hate saying anything even close to negative about it because I loved it so much. Frankie and Darian were such an amazing couple to follow along with. They were frustrating in the best way that made them feel real, and I loved watching them grow as both individual people and partners throughout the duet.

Anyways, in hopes of not sounding too redundant, I seriously cannot say enough great things about this duet. I'm confident these characters will be in my head for a long time, and I know I'm about to say hello to a massive book hangover because of it. I would strongly recommend piking up this duet to literally anyone who enjoys romance. I cannot wait to see what this author does next.... Jane's story, maybe? *sends prayer to the book gods* ♡

The fact that I stayed up until 1:30 AM to read this (in one sitting, no less) SHOULD tell you everything that you need to know, but I’ll go on nevertheless.

First of all, this is NOT a standalone. If you haven’t read the first half of Frankie and Darian’s story in Waiting for the Sun, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Instead, go back, read part one of the duet, and then return to this book... And know that I’ll be jealous of your because you get to read the duet as a continuous work. I had to wait for 15 painful months for part two to be released.

So, what makes Riders on the Storm so special? Exactly the same things that made Waiting for the Sun the same:
-Simple, honest writing.
-Lovable, relatable characters (including a quirky heroine and a damaged sexy AF hero).
-A strong supporting cast (who I had better see again!).
-All of the above.

Robin Hill may “only” be a debut author, but she’s already set the bar high for herself. I, for one, cannot wait to read more of her work!

I absolutely loved Riders on the Storm! It picked up where Waiting for the Sun left off with Frankie and Darian’s story while also introducing a couple of new characters as well. I can’t even explain how much I love Frankie and Darian! They both have a past that interferes with their future, but they love each other so hard! Riders is full of angst, swoon worthy moments, laugh out loud moments and moments where you can literally feel their pain. I felt like I was living their lives with them!
Seriously, the way Robin writes is so good and she will take you on a journey with this duet! It is everything and a must read!

Riders on the Storm is absolutely the perfect extension of Francesca and Darian's story. It brought all the angst one would expect from the tumultuous relationship between two people who are each fighting through the trauma life has thrown in their path.

Robin Hill has again used her magic to transport us into the center of the characters' emotional universe. Her carefully chose words and skillfully crafted scenes enable the reader to experience the depth of feelings that Francesca and Darian navigate.

Through the journey of these unforgettable characters, one learns the unimaginable pain of loss, the very different paths individuals take through the process of grief, as well as, the courage it takes to love and trust again. I ached and cheered for Francesca and Darian more than any two characters I have encountered in a very long while.

The beautiful conclusion to Riders on the Storm more than makes up for all the turbulence encountered along the way. Robin Hill is truly talented at weaving real life elements along with fabulous pieces of the fabric from which dreams are built to create a work of art. The way she colors her creation with humor and music makes it truly gallery-worthy.

I have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion to Frankie and Darians story. Ms. Hill does not disappoint and I highly recommend this book!
Once again from the first page I was captivated by the writing style of Robin Hill. She has a way of weaving all the feels within her words. This time around things are not any simpler for Frankie and Darian, in fact, they are even more complicated. Real life together is not a happily ever-after-ride off into the sunset.
After Darian convinces Frankie to move to Miami with him, life takes a decidedly down turn. Frankie is homesick and more and more is feeling shut out of Darian’s life. Darian is also feeling overwhelmed by work and real life stresses. All of this ultimately leads Frankie along with the reader, to believe Darian has done the unthinkable. The heartbreak and angst explode from there.
I will also say I don’t usually like epilogues that occur years later, but Ms. Hill did a great job of addressing what has occurred over the years, while also building the reader’s interest in the next *hopefully* story.
I do hope Ms. Hill does write some novellas and spin off stories that address what has occurred between the last chapter and epilogue of Riders and also how Riders ended could be an extended epilogue. Also Drew deserves a story. ;)

I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to read the conclusion to Frankie and Darian’s story. Waiting for the Sun had me hooked and I wanted more.

Riders on the Storm picks up right after the previous book left off. I was right there with them. All the feels came rushing back. I missed these two so much.

This book is - in my opinion - is way more angsty than the first part of the duet. I was holding my breath waiting for the next shoe to drop.
Our dear Darian continues to battle his demons, and it’s tough to read at some points. It’s very real and authentic and my heart just broke for him and Frankie.

It’s a bumpy journey for Frankie and Darian, one the author did an amazing job in capturing every emotion.
Riders on the Storm is witty, emotional and very well-written.
It had all makings of a beautiful memorable romance. I don’t want to let these characters go.
This was the perfect conclusion to this duet.
I can’t wait to see what Ms. Hill has in store for us next.
