Teenage bodyguard Connor must survive the wilds of the African savanna in a life-or-death mission--perfect for fans of Alex Rider, Tom Clancy's The Division, and James Bond!

With two successful missions under his belt, Connor Reeves is quickly rising up the ranks of the covert teen bodyguard organization known as Guardian. So he’s the natural choice when a French diplomat seeks Guardian’s services to protect his family on a safari in Africa. With no obvious threats at hand, it sounds like the vacation of a lifetime.

But deep in the savanna, the safari turns to chaos when their convoy is ambushed by brutal gunmen seeking bloodshed and riches. Fleeing through the bush, Connor and those under his protection become the prey in a deadly hunt across the African plains.

Combining pulse-pounding action, diabolical enemies, and an insider's knowledge of the tricks of the trade, the Bodyguard series is the perfect target for fans of Alex Rider, James Bond, Jack Bauer, and Jason Bourne.

Praise for the Bodyguard series:

Similar to AR series, but still a great read for spy/undercover lovers. Things were coming together and then the ending struck. Hope to find the next part of the series and will look for the rest soon. Quite a good read; fast paced.
Fear the loss of Amber and Henri’s parents. Felt one of the leaders on the convoy is in on the return of Black Mamba. Cold-hearted and blood-thirsty killers they have to fight against. Didn’t expect the president to be killed and didn’t know the enemy knew him quite well. Hope Conner can help these people out.
Can’t wait for the next one!! 😉

Because I currently own the US edition, I'll review both books 5 & 6 at once. If you're wondering why or you aren't familiar with the series here's why; long story made short these two, US edition books is equivalent to book 3 in the UK edition. For this entire series each UK edition book has been split into 2 US edition books. (So, Ambush and Survival, books 5&6 in the US is really book 3 in the UK edition titled Ambush.)

Publication: October 24th 2017

Synopsis: Connor’s mission: to protect a foreign ambassador’s family on safari in Africa.

Considered the perfect assignment, the holiday turns to hell when their convoy is ambushed by gunmen.  Fleeing through the bush, Connor and his assigned family become the prey in a shoot-to-kill hunt across the African plains.

As they fight for their survival, Connor realizes the gunmen are the least of their problems. For no amount of bodyguard training can prepare him for the wilds of Africa and one prowling hungry leopard…

Review/Thoughts: These two books never really dragged on for me. There was always something that happened that held my attention. There was some time skips that I weren't overly fond of, it wasn't huge time skips more like a day or two. Things like that. I didn't mind them, but I wished that they weren't throughout Connor's birthday. I would have liked to see more of what they did for his birthday that's all.

I still love Alpha squad training exorcises. They're just training exorcises but they're wonderfully written and a certain aspect is brought to the scenes making them feel very urgent even life threatening to Alpha squad, at least to me as the reader they did.

Connor had his hands full in these 2 books, I mean he always does but this... He had to ensure his principals safety, avoid all the dangers that roam Africa, avoid the enemy, and make sure he, himself lives to keep the principals safe! A nice touch that was added was the fact that, while Connor is a great Bodyguard and great at all these other things he's still human. Meaning he's not invincible, not unbeatable and that he has an a phobia...that terrifies him! Yes, I'm sure all things are hinted and mentioned in the previous books and in the ones I have yet to read, but they were more highlighted in these books. I...I don't want to sound cruel towards our main character, but I enjoyed seeing that. I enjoyed seeing that he was...a teenager.

This Dr. Grey is creepy. I know we haven't seen the last of him, and I don't know whether to be concerned, or terrified by that thought. I don't want to be on this guy's bad side, and I get the feeling I also don't want to get caught making a deal with him. He's just creepy to me.

~Till the next Chapter~

As a replacement for a member of Guardian who is ill, Conner goes to Africa to protect the son and daughter of a French diplomat on safari. During an early evening trip into the wild, the expedition is ambushed by a group led by former general from their recent civil war, General Pascal, or as he is more famously known, The Black Mamba. Conner must now figure out a way to protect the two children.

The description of the the wilds of Africa in this book is stunning, including not only the danger, but the beauty as well. Conner is once again in the center of the action, but also when he goes home to see his mother and grandmother, Charley comes along, so there is a little glimpse into his friendship with her as well as his relationship with his family. Overall, another action packed entry in the Bodyguard Series.

I love how Connor isn't supposed to go on this mission. But then Connor's teammate gets some type of disease that is in his appendix. I also like how the mission has two principles, brother and sister. Also at the beginning the sister is a little frosty toward Connor, because she has just gone through being cheated by her boyfriend with her friend. Then towards the middle of the book Amber the sister starts to have feelings for Connor.
I also like in the book that the Connor gets to do some crazy driving to get away from. I also like the way Connor freezes when he sees a black mamba and Amber has to save Connor and her brother henri. I also like how they eat the Black Mamba for dinner.

Another very exciting action packed book from th Bodyguard series!!!!You Definitely like you are right there feeling the heat, danger and terror that Connor and his charges are feeling!!! It is the Vince Flynn books for children. I am also impressed how in depth Chris Bradford's research is to prepare him to write these books. Already have a customer at my library who can't wait for 7 and 8! I am totally in agreement!
