What I Liked:
This book follows the story of Levi and Brooklyn, both of whom were present in Ties That Bind. Levi is Jack's best friend, and Brooklyn is Cora's best friend (and roommate). This book involves lots of dogs, cats, and crime that seems fun and noble (oddly enough)!
Brooklyn, a private investigator, has been struggling to get jobs that pay well. She needs the money to pay for the extravagant mortgage of the house she lives in with her roommate Cora, especially since their third roommate Jessica moved out. When a rich but horrible client throws a bunch of money at her in order to investigate the theft of his job, Brooklyn doesn't hesitate, even if the job is unusual. It turns out that Levi Turnbull is most definitely guilty of stealing the dog... but why? And how is Brooklyn going to get inside Levi's home to get pictures? Levi knows exactly why Brooklyn was hired, and he knows why she wants in his house. That doesn't stop him from wanting her, and wanting her close. Brooklyn agrees to go on a date with him in order to get close to find evidence, but she doesn't expect to like him. Or want to break laws for him. Or return Fisk's money and not investigate the theft anymore. Levi is more than a dog thief, and Brooklyn can't help falling for him.
This book was so fun. It is short, possibly even shorter than Ties That Bind, but it was such a fun novel. Levi is a strange and charming guy, and Brooklyn is the type of girl that doesn't want to be bothered. But something about Levi definitely bothers her, and in a I-want-to-jump-him kind of way.
I'll start with Levi. He is easily my favorite character of this book - of this series, even. He has cats and dogs and an iguana, and he lives with all of them in his enormous mansion. He is such a sweetheart and he seems playful, but he is also charming and a little wicked. He doesn't hesitate to ask Brooklyn out on a date, even though he knows exactly what her game plan is (without her having to tell him). He knows what he wants and doesn't hesitate to go after it (or her, in this case). He has a dominant, powerful side, which makes sense because he's basically a bearded, mountainous lumberjack. He's a sweetie though!
Brooklyn is the human equivalent of a cat (Levi's words, not mine!). She likes to do her thing and she doesn't like to be pushed around. She is in a tough spot financially, when she accepts the job to investigate the dog snatcher. She doesn't want to fall for him, but she does. Levi is so different from Brooklyn, but he is actually who she needs.
Their chemistry is so hot! I love how the two of them connect, and then collide. Brooklyn is more skittish and doesn't always follow her heart, but something brings her back to Levi, every time. These two are such a fiery and passionate couple, even with Brooklyn's task of investigating Levi lying between them. The sexy times are so steamy! There is a lot of good intensity and buildup. And the progression of their relationship is sweet, even with Brooklyn being unsure of if she should go into a relationship with Levi. She likes him so much - too much, in her mind. But she works through this and realizes that it's okay to like him "too much".
This book is getting five stars (as opposed to four stars), and it's because of the climax and ending. There is very little drama in this book, which was good. There is the cliche "breakup" thing at the climax, in which Levi is hurt by Brooklyn, and Brooklyn has a decision to make, about her task. This book is getting five stars because Brooklyn is the one to fix her mistake. She is the one to grovel and apologize. I love this. You know why? Because often in romance novels, we see the male apologizing and groveling, even when the woman is the one who messed up. I was so happy to see Brooklyn trying to earn back Levi's favor. It's so good to see a woman in romance fiction stand up and own her mistakes. It isn't healthy when the woman is in the wrong but the man is the one apologizing and groveling. Good on this character for being better.
The ending is a wonderful HEA! But of course, right? I love HEAs.
What I Did Not Like:
I have nothing to complain about! This book was lovely. I may reread it soon (already!), because it was quite wonderful. And steamy!
Would I Recommend It:
I'm pretty much always going to recommend Katee Robert's novels. I don't think I've read one that I didn't like. This one is ranking among my favorites of hers though. It was such a good romance story, the climax and ending were perfect, and there were lots of adorable pets! This is a short novel, so if you're in the mood for short and steamy and to the point, try this book!
Rating:
4.5 stars -> rounded up to 5 stars. I rarely round up and I rarely give 5-star ratings, but this book was great. I always have high expectations when it comes to Katee Robert, and she never disappoints!
Pre-read:
Another new Katee Robert book, whaaaaaaaat? :D Another book I've created on Goodreads!
What’s better than one Katee Robert release? TWO Katee Robert releases in ONE day. Yes, you read that right! The author wraps up her Hot in Hollywood duology with Brooklyn’s story in Animal Attraction. I thought I loved the first book, but this right here epitomized everything that I love in a feel-good romance novel!
Brooklyn, a PI, is hired to find evidence that Levi, a video game/tech millionaire, has stolen a giant million dollar dog. When Levi catches her snooping into his home, he turns things around by asking her out on a date. Brooklyn is a great heroine. She’s funny, sarcastic, and super witty! As much as I adored her, it’s Levi who stole the show in Animal Attraction. O.M.G! What a specimen! He’s a total sweetheart who LOVES animals (he has like 50 billion cats and dogs), is unapologetic about his love for Britney Spears, and loves his family even though he complains about how big it is. He’s a soft-hearted hero who is impossible to dislike. I swear guys, I could not stop swooning and sighing over him any time he was in a scene. I just loved how humble he is despite being so rich. And his genuine love for animals, and him saving Barbaras, albeit through eyebrow-raising ways, made me want to melt into a puddle, because *sobs* where will I find a guy like Levi in real life?!
The romance that builds up between the Levi and Brooklyn is one that undeniably sizzles with the fan-yourself hot chemistry, but it’s the witty banter that makes them a couple that you just want to read on about forever. Though Brooklyn is reluctant to go out with him at first, Levi’s persistent ways breaks down her walls eventually. They are so cute together, I just wanted to smush them together! They were definitely a couple that fit gorgeously together. I really really wish their book had been a full length novel because I could have read more of their interactions forever. Cora and Jack also make several appearances in Animal Attraction, and I loved every scene with them too.
I love a lot of books by Katee Robert but Animal Attraction might just be one of my favorites from her. I need everyone who loves a happy, feel-good and deliciously swoony romance to read this book so they can meet one of the best male heroes ever!
Hired to discover if billionaire video games creator, Levi Turnbull, is guilty of stealing a dog purported to be worth a million dollars, private eye Brooklyn James ends up climbing a tree to spy on the accused billionaire. She was reluctant to agree to investigate this but really needs the money! However, as she is promptly discovered the attraction between her and the accused dognapper is volatile so now the danger is he will steal her heart as well!
Torn between what she should do for the client and what she feels for Levi, this is never going to be a straightforward investigation for Brooklyn. Indeed, it has so many twist and turns with hilarious incidents around every corner that it is a steamy yet humorous read to escape into. The banter, asides and drama between the main characters is laugh out loud worthy. There's plenty of steamy action in and out of the bedroom, too, making this an adult read. Get ready for angst as Brooklyn has to decide just what to do with the information she discovers and see if a million dollar dog can bring these two to their HEA together!
Both stories contain scenarios that make them suitable only for adults. I requested and was given a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.
Sooooooooooooo much fun you guys! Another sexy fun read by Katee Robert. The story-line was really cute and Levi and Brooklyn were ridiculous fun to read. Their banter had me laughing thru most of this book! And they were so darn sexy too! Another great afternoon read for me with a really strong hero and heroine! WELL DONE!
This was the second book in this duology, and I liked it just as much as book 1. Levi was a gentle giant, and Brooklyn didn't know what to do with how smitten she was. So fun!
Brooklyn Jameson is the roommate and best friend of the heroine in book 1, Cora. She's also a PI, and she's taken a case she doesn't like, but she needs the money. A smarmy, rich jerk has hired her to prove that his neighbor stole his million dollar dog. She doesn't like her client, but she doesn't have to like him to take his money. So. she goes about proving the case. But she is NOT expecting Levi, and she's definitely not ready for her reaction to him.
Levi Turnbull is the best friend of the hero from book 1, Jack. He's also a brilliant, billionaire, video game developer, with a sensitive streak, and a big love for animals. When he saw the condition of the dog that had wandered on to his lawn, he didn't hesitate to act. Yes, TECHNICALLY, taking a dog that valuable is grand theft, but the dog had been mistreated and malnourished, and he's always felt rules were somewhat flexible. Plus his neighbor is a giant a-hole. So, he's been keeping the poor dog hidden while he nurses it back to health. But, he's not counting on the sexy PI sneaking on to his property, and trying to prove him a thief.
Levi and Brooklyn had chemistry like whoa, and I loved their witty, sexy banter. Their conversations were always funny, and entertaining, and I loved watching them interact. Neither seemed to know quite what to do with this connection they were feeling, and it put them both at a loss. Brooklyn knew she had a job to do, but she was hesitant, for the first time ever, to actually do it. Levi knew what Brooklyn was looking for, but it didn't stop him from pursuing her. I liked how out of sorts they both were about the whole thing. It was quite endearing.
These 2 short, sexy books were fun and entertaining, and I really enjoyed my time reading them both. All the characters were relatable, in different ways, and I enjoyed watching their relationships bloom. These were short novellas, and quite fast paced, and I had a great time with them. I always prefer a HEA to a HFN, which is what we get here, but that's just a personal preference. They were still extremely enjoyable and I'm so glad I took the time to read them. As always, I look forward to what's next from this author.

Animal Attraction is a cute, sweet and naughty read. I really enjoyed it, especially the quirkiness of the hero and the snarky nature of the heroine. I felt they were perfectly matched and although short the story felt complete.

I was half in love with Levi from the minute I saw the cover for this book. That beard. Unf. He lived up to all my book boyfriend expectations as I read Animal Attraction, too. Brooklyn was also wonderful. I admired her spunk. Levi and Brooklyn met under unique circumstances, but it so worked for them. Their chemistry was wicked hot from the very start and, since the book is just a little over 100 pages, there wasn't a lot of wait before things really got going between them.
Animal Attraction was a great story with characters I couldn't help but love. It was sexy, sweet and funny. I'm sad to see this duet end, but it was fun while it lasted!
I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
FAVORITE QUOTES
"I'm not saying you should go steady or start drawing hearts with Levi+Brooklyn in them. I'm just saying that—one, Levi Turnbull is hot enough to be a quirky forest god who wandered out of the Pacific Northwest, and you haven't had sex in long enough that you really need to clean the dust out or you're going to start developing teeth down there."
"He looked at me with those sexy Santa Claus eyes, and it was everything I could do not to fall on my back with my legs spread."
Animal Attraction takes a more comedic turn with an intrepid Private Investigator and a tech geek billionaire who happens to be maybe a dog thief. Brooklyn and Levi's story is definitely one for the dogs! It's weirdly funny, with a gentle giant for a hero and a snarky PI for a heroine. Doesn't hurt that their animal attraction for each other can burn a house down. This also throws a wrench on Brooklyn's plan to get her evidence that Levi is the man accused of dognapping. But stuff are rarely what they seem at first glance. Animal Attraction will have you smiling and laughing and maybe shedding a tear or two for the wonder that is Levi and Brooklyn plus his menagerie of rescue animals. Sexy, sweet and funny this one shows the cheeky side of Ms. Robert to perfection.
Levi totally stole the show for me with his love and passion for animals, and the fact that he's a huge family guy (dude built a huge McMansion so that all his family can gather together on holidays, what even), and the fact that he's a total geek and unapologetic about his interests (BRITNEY SPEARS OH MY GOD) and he's just wonderful. I mean I love Brooke too but I'm sorry, I was completely enthralled with Levi throughout the book.
A fantastic read which I loved, the characters were likeable and their dialogue both witty and racy it was great. Private Investigator Brooklyn's new case is to watch millionaire Levi Turnbull as he's suspected by a neighbor of stealing his dog. Levi discovers Brooklyn stalking him and protests his innocence, which turns out to be a lie. A great read. There's plenty of great, witty exchanges between fun loving Levi and Brooklyn. I liked this book very much, the only downer was I wish it was a full length novel instead of a novella so their relationship could be explored more.
The Hot in Hollywood series exposes a lighter side to author Katee Robert. Never has her sense of comedic timing been more evident than Animal Attraction, book 2 of this hilarious serious. Desperation and good intentions collide to make for an attraction that is as magnetic as it is funny. Who knew a dog could play matchmaker for two unsuspecting souls. Brooklyn and Levi are cinematic gold in this audacious romance.
This book centers around Levi, the best friend of Jack from The Ties That Bind, and Brooklyn, Cora's best friend, a private investigator. These two together had me cracking up and then fanning myself in the next scene. I'm all about dogs and what Levi did, was stealing, sort of. I'd do the exact same thing he did given the circumstances! And the notes Levi was leaving around the neighborhood had me snort laughing!!!
Anyway, Levi is a billionaire and Brooklyn is willing to do whatever it takes to get the dog back to its rightful owner, until she gets closer to Levi and their chemistry is out of this world! I flew through this story because it was just so engaging and I loved the how she fell in love with both Levi and the dog!
Overall, this was a great read and I fell in love with both Levi and Brooklyn!
A dognapping of a Tibetan Mastiff named ‘Barbaras’ valued at upwards of over a million dollars “and that’s not even counting stud fees.”
Who names their dog ‘Barbaras’...a potential client of questionable character does. Had he been chipped, Brooklyn could have undertaken his recovery in the minimum of time. “See for yourself” she’s told as she reluctantly looks at a flier. Whomever had taken dognapped Richard’s dog didn’t seem to like Richard much. The picture depicted the giant beast—the dog looked more lion-like than canine—next to a masked man giving the camera a thumbs-up. The caption read: “Have you seen your dog? He’s mine now. I love him”. Funny.
She was relatively confident stud fees were exclusively applied to the horse world, but she wasn’t exactly an animal person, so she could be wrong. In need of money she accepts the case as she’s being generously compensated.
Levi Turnbull is ‘suspected’ of the dastardly deed. His security detects an unknown female presence skulking in a tree, observing him in his state of undress. The bonus is man-watching....in a state of undress, surrounded by a menagerie of animals, no Mastiff. He sends his man Henry to invite her in and unorthodoxly proceeds to ask her out on a date. He knows the reason for her presence.
Taking flight, not certain if she’d be arrested had she stormed his fortress looking to recover a majestic lion-dog. Levi Turnbull didn’t have a girlfriend according to the rumour mill. Not that she’d looked it up since meeting him. She most definitely had not. Not her. Never.
Pop culture references of Gilmore Girls, Mean Girls, Marvel, Britney Spears...
“Did you… Did you just quote Mean Girls to me?” The fact she picked up on it so quickly had him grinning wider. “Nothing gets past you.” “You seem to have a deep affinity for nineties crap.” “I take deep offense at you terming it crap and Mean Girls came out later—so did 98 degrees.” “The early two thousands were a golden time.” “Only if you like boy bands with bad hair, equally bad teen movies, and chokers.” “Rude. Guess that means you don’t want to see my sweet choker collection.” “That depends.” “On what?” “On whether I have to have any clothes on.” Levi laughed. “House rules—only naked in the collection room.” He scooped her into his arms and waited for her to quit squawking. Brooklyn shoved her hair out of her face and glared at him, but he just grinned. “The stairs are very dangerous. I wouldn’t want you to turn your ankle.” “Uh huh. And I’m sure it has nothing to do with you being a big, burly man who’s just dying to show off how big and burly he is.” “You caught me. Let’s play caveman and Jane.” “You mean Tarzan and Jane.” “Do I?” He reached the top of the stairs and headed for his bedroom. “I think I make a better caveman than a Tarzan.” “I’ll say,” she muttered. Their bantering borders on cuteness.
Their postcoital bliss “Too much effort?” “Don’t sound smug. You didn’t sex me into submission. I’m just resting—I’ll be back to investigating you shortly.” “Good to know.”
“Being a private investigator sounded glamorous when she was eighteen but now, thirteen years later, the shine had more than worn off”. Wouldn’t that make her thirty-one? She says she’s “Twenty-eight and still rebelling”.
Brooklyn is a P.I. living with her best friend, Cora, an actress-turned-divorce-attorney, in a house on the beach in L.A. She loved the house with the soothing soft sound of the ocean that she could hear through the open windows. Brooklyn and Cora are besties. Jack and Levi are besties. Two best friends ultimately dating two best friends, dare I say, Brooklyn and Levi were entertaining together...from one felon to another. They fit!!!
His words warm her heart after she persuades her negligent client to relinquish his ownership of the horse-dog. “Come out with me. The whole kit and caboodle—a real date, a real first date. I like you. You like me. Let’s start this thing for real.” He leaned down and brushed a light kiss to her lips. “Let’s go steady.” Brooklyn ran her hands up his chest. “What’s the whole kit and caboodle date look like with you?” “A drive up the coast to my favorite little shack of a restaurant. They have the best fish and chips in the state, and you sit right there on the beach while you eat from plastic baskets. Then we’ll walk down said beach, preferably holding hands and looking deeply into each other’s eyes.” He kissed one corner of her mouth and then the other. “If you’re feeling squirrelly, you’ll run to me and we’ll do the Dirty Dancing lift.” She jerked back a few inches. “You’re kidding.” “Nope. I’m not saying I know the whole routine but…” He laughed at the look on her face. “I have sixteen girl cousins, Brooklyn. And did I mention that my mom never bothered with gender conformity. I was never interested in sports, but I did a few years of dance in high school—because I wanted to be golden with the ladies.” “It worked.” She didn’t say it like a question, but he answered anyways. “Everyone loves Dirty Dancing. It’s a classic.” “That’s the truth.” She laughed. “Okay, after dazzling me with your amazing upper body strength, what happens next?” “By that point, we’ll be so desperate for each other, I’ll break a few speeding laws getting us home. Then I’ll take you to bed and blow your mind seven ways to Sunday. “And in the morning, I’d make you pancakes.” “Damn, Levi, you really know how to show a girl a good time.” She laced her arms around his neck and smiled up at him. “Let’s do it. All of it. Let’s go steady”.
Too cute for words.

Animal Attraction is even better than Ties That Bind in my opinion, and I loved Brooklyn and Levi!
Brooklyn usually enjoys her job but it isn't always the most lucrative employment, so she finds herself contemplating her financial situation when a new client presents himself. She takes an instant dislike to the man, but her need to pay the bills overrides her instincts about him so she takes the case. The man seems convinced his neighbor is responsible for the theft of his dog, especially since a flyer with a picture of a masked man and the dog was left to taunt him.
Levi Turnbull cuts a pretty distinctive figure with his massive size and lumberjack looks in addition to his reigning status as the king of the gaming design world. He is funny, cocky and mischievous when Brooklyn meets him, and she is certain that he did in fact take the dog from the first time they meet- yet she is surprisingly reluctant to find the evidence to prove it. Sparks fly between the two of them, and Levi challenges her in a way that she both loves and is terrified of. Once they make it to the bedroom, she is even more certain that this man ruined her for anyone else. Unfortunately she is also sure he is definitely behind the dog's disappearance when she sees the virtual menagerie he has in the house and witnesses his love of animals firsthand.
She wrestles with her conscience for a while but in the end she has to decide how to resolve the case and wrap her head around the fact she seems to be falling for this man despite the ridiculously short time she has known him. Her instinct to run far and fast kicks in but fortunately Cora manages to talk her off the proverbial ledge. Brooklyn's solution to the situation is simple but perfect... now she just has to see if Levi feels the same way.
Levi and Brooklyn were two of the most likable characters I have read in a while with their snarky banter and smoldering chemistry. The animals were a welcome addition to the story for me and provided comic relief a few times along the way too. Animal Attraction should definitely be on your 1-click list!
"Animal Attraction" is a short and sexy Romance featuring a sexy geek animal-lover and an impulsive and reckless private investigator. Levi Turnbull's taking a month off of work before his latest computer game releases and he's bored. Even his menagerie of dogs, cats, and an iguana can't shake his ennui. Brooklyn Jameson's short on funds and desperate enough to take on a case to find a "stolen" dog. The man hiring her is a world-class douche canoe but she needs the money he's willing to pay. This story is a case of attraction and enemies-to-lovers. Brooklyn is hired specifically to go after Levi, as he's the chief suspect in the missing dog. Despite their intense and immediate chemistry, the couple's on opposite sides from the get go. Levi isn't sure if Brooklyn can be trusted. "Animal Attraction" has tons of witty banter, snark, and hot and spicy sex scenes. Yes, Cora and Jack from "Ties That Bind" play important roles in this short novel! Katee Robert works her magic making "Animal Attraction" wickedly funny and super sexy. Levi is delightfully quirky with his love of 90's pop singers and films. Not to mention his love of animals and sexy geek factor makes him virtually irresistible. Brooklyn is smart, snarky, fair, and just plain cool. This couple is fabulous together and the storyline is a joy to read! It just can't be said enough that Levi is irresistibly fun, compassionate, and seductive. He's amazing! Not to mention his pack of pets are tremendously endearing. "Animal Attraction" is a delightful must read! So, being a PI isn't all Brooklyn thought it would be, but hey, it pays the bills...sometimes. As right now is one of those not really situations, she can't exactly say no to a paying job offer. Which is why she's currently making like a Peeping Brooklyn and spying on a dognapping billionaire. Yes, unfortunately, you read that correctly.
Levi has essentially become a video tech genius, and while it was fun and he does love what he does, it's gotten kind of boring. He needs a challenge, or at a least a change. While he's waiting for the next game to release, he realizes his neighbor is neglecting their dog, so he decides to take the dog. It's not stealing, it's a rescue. What didn't foresee happening was a beautiful redheaded watchdog (LOL) being sent to spy on him as a result.
Levi may have found the perfect distraction to keep him occupied, and Brooklyn sees it as a way to get close to her target. What neither expected was their intense chemistry and quickly growing feelings.
What happens when their original intentions become so much more? Will Levi be able to keep the dog? What will Brooklyn tell her client? Can Levi and Brooklyn find their forever with the person that's stolen their heart?
One-click now and follow along as two people meet under unusual circumstances and find a love neither planned on.

Hmm.... he's not a crazy cat lady, but "demented dog man" just doesn't have that same ring to it. :P
Brooklyn is an extremely capable private investigator, as we discovered the companion book Ties That Bind (Hot in Hollywood Book 1). Each book is a stand alone, although this one does take place after TtB. Levi has it all... Meet the studliest billionaire video game programmer you could ask for. Also, he loves animals. And his concert t-shirt collection.
Brooklyn gets hired to find proof that Levi is hiding a missing dog, but he has no intention of letting the dog's abusive owner get him back. There's a strong mutual attraction, and while trying to work around each other, they opt for a game of seek and... distract. Levi eventually comes to realize that once Brooklyn has made a commitment (like, say, accepting a job) she's determined to fulfill her obligation, so he puts the ball in her court to decide whether the right thing is what's legal or what's moral.
Okay, so I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book because the basic fact is, Levi DID steal the dog, and laws are laws, right? But Brooklyn isn't just a pretty face, and our beloveds are not left waiting for conjugal visits. I love him, I love her, and I love their HEA.
*a few tiny typos *book is short and fast-paced *no epilogue
Heads up! I was given an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
In the second instalment of the Hot in Hollywood series, we reconnect with Brooklyn and Levi, whom we had met in Ties That Bind. Brooklyn really needs the money to pay the rent, but being a private investigator has its downside, such as the case she just took: a rich client’s priceless dog was stolen, and he knows who did it: Levi Turnbull. All Brooklyn has to do is prove it, and she has her paycheck. The problem is: Levi is the best friend of Brooklyn’s best friend boyfriend. Levi is beyond rich, why would he steal a dog?
I had a smile plastered on my face from page one, and it never left! What a great little story! Levi and Brooklyn are genuinely quirky, and sweet; they are a perfect match, if they can only find a compromise! Brooklyn is a clever one, as is Katee Robert who thought it all up! ANIMAL ATTRACTION is smart, a super quick read, not that it is that short, but it’s just so good and entertaining, it’s over before you know it; it’s just crazy, young, fun, with witty dialogues, cats and dogs, and two really cool characters. Levi and Brooklyn had nearly instant everything, and it worked because their chemistry is insane and believable; it jumped off the page. ANIMAL ATTRACTION is uncomplicated, angst-free; it's pure entertainment, and everyone enjoys having a good time!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Animal attraction is the second book in the Hot in Hollywood series. This one and the first book are been released on the same day, so I was happy I would get to read both books in one day. I am not sure if more books are going to follow, but for now, I am happy with these two. After all, both friends (Brooklyn and Cora) got their happy endings. I would have liked an epilogue of some sorts though if this is going to be a duet. Brooklyn is one badass lady and I loved her. She handled the situation she was put in in a great way. Levi is a sweetheart and I would love a man like him with the horde of animals he has (hence the title). The characters in this book are better developed than in The ties that bind. I felt like I knew Levi and Brooklyn in a deep way and not superficially. Honestly, I found myself thinking that this book should have been a full-length one, just having those two spending time together with all the animals and getting to know each other. Animal attraction is a great book for a novella and it's a fulfilling story. I am giving Animal attraction a nomination for my best reads of 2017 because it's a very good book despite its length. Most novella's don't have any room for a lot of things you will find in a full-length novel like character development, but in this book, I felt closer to the characters than I have felt for others in books with 400 pages.
Brooklyn James is a private investigator, which isn't a glamorous job, but it pays the bills. And since she's has serious financial issues come up, she has no choice but to spy on a billionaire who's accused of dognapping, which isn't her finest moment. Levi Turnbull made his fortune by creating tech combining exercising with video games, which now has him with more money than he knows what to do with, and extremely bored. And that boredom has him doing things that could be frowned upon, like taking a dog that's neglected, which leads him to meeting Brooklyn. He asks the sexy redhead out, and she accepts in order to get close to him to find the dog. What she didn't expect was to end up in bed with him. And since she's unable to resist his charm, will she get to the bottom of the dognapping before he steals her heart? OMG, Animal Attraction hit new levels of awesome, as these two were so entertaining together. Not only is their chemistry of the panty destroying variety, but the extremely hilarious moments kept me laughing hard. Add in some twists, and a huge angst level, and this book wins! The talented Katee Robert is such an amazing author, that I'll spend my time waiting impatiently for her next awesome book! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Katee Robert does it again with the second book in the Hot in Hollywood Series. The characters in this book we meet in the first book, and let me tell you, the connection between these two was scorching hot! This is the story of Brooklyn and Levi.
Brooklyn James is a private investigator, working for Cora, roommate of Cora and in desperate need of money to pay her bills and her part of the rent. In order to make money, she takes a job investigating the kidnapping of a very expensive dog. What she does not count on was that the man she is investigating is none other than the very hot, very sexy Levi Turnbull.
Levi Turnbull has mad a fortune creating amazing tech games. But this that is not his only passion. He also has a passion for animals, rescuing them and giving them a loving home. When his neighbors dog shows up, abused and malnurished, he does the only thing he can think of, he decides to keep him and taunt his neighbor. But when Brooklyn shows up at his door trying to find out if the dog is in his possession, he wants nothing more than to distract her. The best way to do that, seduce her.
As Levi and Brooklyn fall into a mutually satisfying arrangement, and begin to open up to each other about their families, their lives, their hopes and dreams, Levi begins to wonder if he is honest with Brooklyn, will she change her mind and help him with the dog? And as Brooklyn begins to get to know more about Levi, she begins to wonder if she can go through with investigating him, and potentially hurting the man that has come to mean so much to her.
I love these two characters. They had chemistry, they had a connection, and in the end, Brooklyn had Levi's back. Pulling out all the stops to make sure no harm came to him and to the dog that cared so much about. I love that Levi made his grandmothers pancakes for Brooklyn, something that he had never done for anyone else. If anyone deserves a HEA, it is these two, and HEA they get.
I knew this novella was going to be great, but it was even better than I expected. I absolutely love Brooklyn. She’s so freaking sassy and doesn’t hold back. Levi is the perfect match for her. He’s a bit sassy as well and goes after what he wants. Not to mention he isn’t afraid to show everyone exactly who he is and what he likes. I love that he unashamedly wears 90’s pop star t-shirts like Britney Spears and quotes classic movies from the 90’s. On top of all that goodness, the man is gorgeous and loves his family and animals. I mean seriously, I don’t know if he could get any more perfect. Why isn’t he real?
I loved Brooklyn and Levi together. Their banter was fun and flirty, sometimes a bit snarky. Their chemistry was off the charts. I laughed out loud a few times and fanned myself a few times as well. This book was so much fun to read and I was sad when it was over. These two are definitely going on my list of favorite Katee Robert couples. Hopefully, someday down the road we’ll get to check in with them and see how things are going *hint, hint*.
*I was gifted this ARC from the author and freely give my review*
Brooklyn is hired to find a dog and Levi is the thief that has said dog. When Brooklyn get caught trespassing in Levi's garden thing doesn't evolve the way any of them expected.
Brooklyn and Levi gave me more of a intensely love story than Ties That Bind so this is a good 5 stars story.
The writing style is easy and filled with dialogues. It's a fun, fast, sad and hot story.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and characters that's filled with emotions makes this very enjoyable.
Love scenes are hot and sweet without being over the top in any way.
I loved this book more than Book 1 which I liked a lot.
Brooklyn and Levi though - holy h*ll - what a steamy couple. You may need a fan or a hose to cool you off after this one!
I have to admit I'm a sucker for a male lead who is an animal lover and Levi's furry family is something to behold! I loved them all!
Brooklyn as you learned in Book 1 is a sassafrass and Levi is just the man to keep up with her. Although they meet under dubious circumstances since she's trespassing while investigating him - he quickly turns that around in the bedroom!! And when Levi makes her his grandma's pancakes - SWOON!!
They are such a cute couple and the steam is scorching!
I voluntarily requested and received an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved how sasst Brookyln was, "she gave a slow blink, and for a second he thought he had her. Then she laughed in his face. “Oh my God, has that line ever actually worked?” Levi has some big balls on him, “you. In my bed.” He glanced at his watch. “In roughly forty-five minutes.” Although I enjoyed Cora and Jack's story, Levi and Brooklyn blew theirs out of the water. Levi was one easy man to fall in love with.
I loved Brooklyn. She is snarky and badass and just take no prisoners. And her and Levi together is explosive. This was a fun and quirky story. It's had me laughing and at time made me want to kick a certain guys(no not Levi's) ass. When you read it you will see what I mean. And Levi is such a nerdy lovable man. Plus he is a huge animal lover so big bonus there. You will fall in love with these two, and the brood of Levi's animals, fast.
5 ANIMAL ATTRACTION STARS!! Wow, this is a fun cute sexy story that keeps you turning pages. I enjoyed the bantering between Levi and Brooklyn, these two were great together. If you are looking for a fantastic quick read, here you go. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Characters were funny and quirky. Loved the random T-Shirts of the nerdy lead Levi, and the funny banter between him and Brookly, the tough PI that just can't follow his rules.
