I have no problem attracting women. Especially a crazy one whose indecent proposal has me backed into a corner. The solution is simple; find a fake fiancée and save my job.
A chance meeting with a tall blonde seems almost too good to be true. Beautiful, sane, and she has a kid? We have a winner.
I planned everything except falling for her. A lie brought us together, but I have no intention of letting her go.
Laken
Whoever said hard work pays off never applied for an internship in New York City. I'm no quitter, but after five rejection letters, I'm still stuck playing nanny to the overprivileged.
One outrageous proposal later, I find myself fake engaged and lying to everyone. Just as I'm about to call it off, I realize my Irish "fiancé" is my ticket to Madison Avenue.
If I can hold on to this charade long enough, I'll get the job and the man. Game on.
Cora Kenborn is a USA Today Bestselling and Top 50 Amazon Bestselling author whose readers have affectionately dubbed her the “queen of plot twists that’ll ruin your day in the best way.”
Best known for her dark mafia romances, Cora has an insatiable bad boy obsession, which she believes started in the third grade when she chose Bruce over Todd in the Sweet Valley High books. To this day, give her an unhinged antihero who falls hard for a feisty heroine, and you’ve won her heart.
As a native North Carolinian, Cora claims the domestic Southern Belle gene skipped right over her. Her villain origin story was the day she tried making her mother’s famous biscuits and gravy, only to turn them into paste-covered dough bricks. That’s when she decided fiction was better than reality, and microwaved mac and cheese counted as fine dining.
Unsupervised is a story about a hot Irishman trying his best to raise his daughter and a woman who wants to get her dream job no matter what.
Well, if we’re going to have a fake engagement, then I figure we should be able to bypass the fake marriage and get to the fake honeymoon.”
I laughed every time Niall tried to charm Laken into getting cozy with him. He was relentless in his pursuit. I admire Laken’s self-control. Seriously. LOL. That accent and his love for his daughter would have been enough to seduce the heck out of me.
The lie by omission didn’t sit well with me, and I was dreading the revelation as much as Laken did. I was really hoping she’d confess the truth to Niall, but this story would never be as interesting as it is without that particular conflict. Other than that, Unsupervised was an enjoyable read.
Tropes: Fake Engagement, Single Dad POV: Dual, First POV
Not having read any other works by Cora Kenborn before, I was really impressed with the overall story and well was executed. In the story we get to meet Niall, a photographer whose career gets threatened when he refuses to do sleep with one of his bosses. He knows that his looks could get him any women that he would like, but some are crazier than others, and he happened to meet the craziest of them all. Now he has to find fake fiancee and introduce her at the company's gala to save his job. After working really hard to establish himself in the company, Niall is not about to mess with his future or that of his daughter. As a single dad he has tried to be there for his daughter, but his career is also important to him and it has been a struggle to maintain that balance. When he meets Laken at a park, he is immediately taken by her and of the little boy that he assumed was her son. After he finds out that she is looking to get an internship at Tate & Cane, the company that he works for, he proposes a friendly exchange. He would help her get the internship that she wants in exchange for her to fake to be his fiancee. What they weren't expecting was to feel so much chemistry towards each other that would ultimately cause so much trouble in the end. They knew that it wasn't going to last, but Niall is not about to give her up.
Unsupervised was a very entertaining read, it's evident from the start that the characters have an undeniable chemistry. It is through a series of events that it will ultimately get tested to see if they truly want to be with each other in the end. Niall is not only handsome, but his accent would literally leave you swooning for him until the end. Laken is a bit sassy and smart, she know what she wants and goes after it, but her internship with Tate & Cane is getting difficult to get. Her only way to step inside and meet the people that she needs to meet is by being Niall's fake fiancee and she will stop at nothing until she gets the job. When secrets start to resurface, they'll have to decide if fighting for each other is work it after all. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, it was quick and filled with romance that will leave you wanting for more. ;)
***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.***
Cora Kenborn is another unknown author for me and had i not taken a chance on the Kindle World Novellas, I have a feeling she would have remained a mystery to me. Like many of the books from this series, we're brought back to Tate & Cane, only this time, we meet Laken who had always wanted to work at the prestigious company only to be bypassed. She's forced to take a job as a nanny for Niall, the relentless man who wants nothing but to bed the girl who takes care of his girl. I laughed more times than i can remember and enjoyed this story. Hoping that Cora Kenborn's syle for her other novels are similar to this one (which i'll be finding out soon enough), i know i'll be keeping my eyes peeled for this author in the future.
An emotional rollercoaster with a happy ending! Intense, funny as hell! Loved these two! Laughed a lot! A vanilla girl who got addicted to chocolate ice cream! Lol ;D

What is not to love about this book, Unsupervised by Cora Kenborn. First, toss in Niall the Irish photographer then add Laken the Nanny trying to get a leg up on her career. Stir in bosses, kids, and a gala and then add a twist or two of the unexpected. How could I forget to add the steamy hot scenes that melted my Kindle. This book kept me glued to my seat. I have a few things that tell me if the book is good and Cora blew past all of them. This book made me laugh, cry, want to throw it and then hold on tight to find out what happened next. The Irish tone in this book was awesome! I just love the Alpha Niall.
I was pulled right into this short story. The story has laughs, and heartbreak.
This is Laken and Niall’s story. Niall is a single father. When his and his daughter’s future is threatened he knows she needs to find a fake fiancée. It’s not like he can advertise for one. When he meets Laken he knows he found the right woman. She even has a kid. Shame that kid is not her kid. She is a nanny. He just assumed and Laken went along for it. Now the truth needs to come out but hearts are involved. Will forgiveness come or is it all about to blow up?
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
Niall can be bossy, “no, I mean after the party. Keep the shoes on. I want you wearing them when I eff you.” I wouldn't say Niall abuses his authority power, but the man makes it his advantage, “Laken, I outrank you in this office.”I know he’s near losing control. His accent always gets heavier when he’s angry or painfully hard. “Turn around and open your feckin’legs.” I liked this novella I fell in love with Laken the girl was sassy.
This was a blast to read! Laken with her snarky banter and Niall and his filthy, bossy Irish mouth will have you reading this straight through. This has the whole package: an amazing storyline, hilarious yet also frustrating characters that you just got to love, and did I mention the Irish accent? Grab a glass, a bottle of wine and curl up in your favorite spot and enjoy! Cora once again delivered an above 5* star read.
Holy hotness Batman.., what the heck was that?!? Oh I will tell you what that was.. BRILLIANCE! Yes I loved it but at the same time I was angry because I did not want this story to end. Ever time I read one of this authors books I fall in love with love and the characters! Laken and Niall are perfect. Epically awesome and I would and do suggest this authors books because she writes everything for everyone.. Perfectly done!
This is my first book by the author that wasn't a rock star romance, and it was not a disappointment. It was a cute story, sweet, and a very quick read. I had trouble putting it down when I wasn't reading it, and so I zoomed right through it.
Niall is a photographer for Tate and Cane and has been working closely with the team which includes his best buddy Vince and the unfortunate Gloria. For months now, ever since Gloria did Niall a favor by getting his daughter Sophie into Ravenhill she has wanted to get in his pants. During her latest advance towards Niall, he blurts out that he is engaged and now Gloria can't wait to meet this fiancee and what a perfect occasion - the Tate and Cane Gala party happening in one month's time. Now Niall must find someone willing to go the extra mile and play the role of his fake fiancee. Enter Laken Cavanaugh, she is a nanny to Lady Hammerlee's son Preston and loves him like he is her own. During one of their outings, Preston finds himself in a fight with Sophie which leads to Laken's meeting of Niall. One thing leads to another and Laken agrees to be Niall's fake fiancee, but of course, things are going to start unraveling and spiraling down faster than you can say - I do as Niall is under the impression that Laken is a single mother. What will happen to their perfect arrangement when Preston's actual mother is revealed, and it is someone that they both know? Find out in Unsupervised by Cora Kenborn today.
I have twenty-eight days to find the perfect wife... As a sought-after photographer with a sexy Irish accent, I have no problem attracting women. Especially crazy ones whose position in my company have me backed into a corner. The solution is simple: find a fake fiancée and save my job. A chance meeting with a tall blonde seems almost too good to be true. Beautiful, sane, and she has a kid? We have a winner. I planned everything...except falling for her. A lie brought us together, but I have no intention of letting her go.
Laken
I can't buy my way onto Madison Avenue... Whoever said hard work pays off never applied for a marketing internship in New York City. I just received my fifth rejection letter, but I won't give up. I'll bide my time while playing nanny to the overprivileged. Then one outrageous proposal changes everything, and I find myself fake engaged with a fake new family. I'd tell him the kid isn't mine, but there's a problem. My new "fiancé" is a photographer for my dream company. He's my "in." If I can hold on to this charade, I'll get the job and the man. Game on.
Unsupervised I think is my second favorite novella in the Imperfect Love series. Maybe I am a sucker for a single dad or maybe it is because Niall is just so damn sexy but whatever the reason is I really liked this one. We all know that when you plot and lie for whatever reason even if it is with the intention of not actually hurting someone, someone gets hurt or it comes back to bite you in the ass. Well both happened in Unsupervised.
Both Niall and Laken have reasons for going along with the fake fiancé angle. Niall to protect his daughter and himself from a vile woman and Laken wants the in she has been desperately needing for a chance to work for Tate & Crane. Little do either realize is that they both have someone in common and that is the person for the reason for the charade. Sadly some assumptions are made and it adds to the drama of the situation. I was glued to my kindle I wanted to see what would happen between Niall and Laken.
Unsupervised is a book I can easily recommend and one that I really liked! Add this to your TBR lists!
Unsupervised by Cora Kenborn was a quick and enjoyable read with great characters and story. What can possibly go wrong when you are in need of a face fiancé, right?
Niall is a highly regarded photographer that has gotten himself in a bit of a tight spot at work. But he is also a professional and has a daughter he loves very much to raise. The perfect solution, find a fake fiancé to get everything back in order in his life.
Laken may have gotten rejection after rejection for an internship, but she is not a quitter. In the meantime, she is a nanny to survive. But a chance encounter with a beautiful single father and a crazy offer later, things may be finally changing for her. But what will happen when Niall discovers the truths?
Unsupervised by Cora Kenborn was a great read with charming characters and an engaging story. I laughed and swooned while reading!
Another really good addition to Imperfect Love World with some great characters. Although it was a little slow to start with, in the end it turned out to be a really really good read.
Unsupervised is part of the IMPERFECT LOVE Kindle World. In partnership with Kendall Ryan & these amazing bestselling authors: Kelly Elliott, Adriana Locke, Mandi Beck, T. Gephart, Kim Karr, Cora Kenborn, Magan Vernon & Natasha Madison. Sexy, laugh-out-loud funny, and sweet at times, this series is all about exploring romance tropes like friends to lovers, fake fiancé, arranged marriage, surprise pregnancy, budding office romances, and more, that all share one fabulous thing in common–they end in a happily ever after.
Single dad and photographer for Tate & Cane, Niall lives for his daughter Sophie, she's the reason why he's currently fighting off advances from the black widow Gloria, that holds the power to his daughters education in her well manicured fingers. The only way he can fend her off is by bringing his "fiancee" to the Tate & Cane charity gala in 3 weeks, did you get it, single dad Niall... a chance meeting in a park throws Niall and Laken together in more ways then one, little did they know that one small favour would turn into something more catastrophic, trapping them in a web of lies.
I wasn't familiar with Cora's works prior to reading Unsupervised, I really enjoyed her writing style and will definitely be looking up more of her books.
What can I say about Unsupervised by this absolutely talented, talented, accomplished, brilliant, and adept writer? Am I gushing? Yes. Why? Because this book is truly one of the most fun, sexy, down to earth books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. This book introduces you to Laken Cavanaugh, who is a young gal just trying to get by in life and doing all the right things to get there. Is it truly any wonder why she forgot to admit that the adorable kid she looks after just doesn't happen to be hers? I mean Niall MacKay, the seriously hot photographer from the company she has been trying to get into, just happens to have a daughter who bullies the kid she's looking after. He never actual asked in Preston was hers, so it isn't really lying right? He's bossy and trying to keep things together for his daughter. Why wouldn't Laken accept a fake proposal from this guy? He's hotter than hot and he says the naughtiest things to melt her to the core. Not that she doesn't show some wicked fun sass right back at him. This book has it all. Read this book to find out how everything unfolds. Niall is Irish too, did I forget to mention that? All I could hear in my head was this amazingly sexy hot accent whispering naughty things. This is a must read and you truly will not be disappointed! Definitely a 5 star book.
What's not to love about a sexy Irishman? Niall is a sexy Irish photographer. When reading him talk I could picture the accent Gerard Butler used in "P.S. I Love You". I'm a sucker for an Irishman and an Irish accent, like who wouldn't be.
Laken is a Nanny who's desperate to get her career jump started. I have no one to compare her to, because I just couldn't imagine an actress whom reminds me enough of her. But I love how she is witty and sarcastic!
I didn't want to put this book down, I powered my way through reading it because I was taken into the world that is Niall and Laken. Did I mention that there were some steamy hot scenes? Well, lets just say that who doesn't want to be in Laken's shoes during those!
This book has by far blown any of Cora's out of the water! Did I mention that I'm a huge Cora Kenborn fan? With every book I read of Cora's she outdoes herself and leaves me wanting more! As I read I was laughing, shaking my head, cursing at the characters, wanting to smack them upside the head, and keep turning the page!
I think we have all told a little lie, maybe even a big lie, especially when you think you will never see that person again. Enter Laken, she was just spending the afternoon in the park when she meets the handsome Niall. How can you not love a hot guy with an accent? And add in that he is also a great father, it doesn't get much better than that. This story will make you laugh, cry smile and maybe even a little mad. Just loved it!!
Loved Niall and Laken (and great names too)! All Niall had to do was find a fake fiancée and introduce her to his company folks in order to save his job. Laken was an educated, sassy woman, and no way was she going to settle for being a nanny. All of a sudden she has a fake fiancé and a fake family. Misunderstandings and humorously outrageous banter abound in this sexy, funny romance. You can't help but laugh out loud sometimes (I did). Great romance, and well done! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I was hooked on this story and its lively characters from the very beginning. I love Kenborn's books and the abundance of humor found within them. There were so many secrets and when they finally unraveled, it was jaw-dropping. The way things came crashing out into the open was intense and left me racing to read to the end. Kudos on an amazing story that had everything that I look for in a romance.
This story was awesome.Niall and Laken story was a win win. Un superivised By Cora Kenborn was awesome.Funny loving edge on ur seat.I coundnt put this down.Need more.Highy recommend this.Great concept.
This was the first story I've read from this author. It was well written and fun to read. Niall and Laken had this great chemistry throughout the story. I loved the way the two characters are speaking to the audience. Even though you know what's going to happen, the story is written in such a way that you want to keep reading to see how everything plays out.
This book was off the charts, bloody feckin amazing! One unsupervised moment... who could've guessed how this one moment would change Niall and Laken's lives forever. Cora Kenborn had me laughing, crying, and mad as hell throughout this book. She kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next. Oh, and it was so good, I've read it a total of 4 times now. I'm not kidding when I say "you don't want to miss this book"!
4.5 Stars - This was a classic rom com. It even started out with Laken drowning her sorrows in booze and ice cream before flashing back to the beginning of her tale of falling in love under some not so truthful circumstances. Isn’t it always the case where one little misconception and omission leads to utter devastation? Well, I could see Laken’s mistake from the moment she deceived Niall. She was going down and in a huge way. Already knowing that disaster awaited her, I was anxious to see how it all played out, and I wasn’t disappointed. I got to fall in love, cry, and rejoice right along with her. I also enjoyed delving into Niall’s character and watching him fall in love.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.
What began by chance, lead to chaos and heartbreak. A mutually beneficial arrangement between strangers could end up costing more than either are willing to pay. Unsupervised is as adorable as it is unbelievable. Niall and Laken are equal parts crazy and amazing. Each has managed to totally screw themselves over. The humor lies is watching them dig themselves out. Ms. Kenborn makes messy appear sexy in this over the top, yet entertaining hard to put down read.
Have you ever opened a book and immediately you are drawn into the story. You find yourself having one of those, "you had me from hello moments." That is EXACTLY the feeling I experienced upon reading the first paragraph of Cora Kenborn's Unsupervised, a light-hearted and quite comical take on a relationship of convenience!!!!
I have been a fan of Mrs. Kenborn's writing since reading her first book Fame and Obsession, book one of the Lords of Lyre Series. Her talents as a writer continue to completely amaze me. She blew me away with book one of her romance suspense series, astounded me with her 2nd book series that thrust readers into a dark world of a notorious drug cartel, then co-writing a romcom that left me literally laughing out loud!!! Being a fan, seeing her growth in writing has been amazing to watch and read. Her ability to write in numerous genre/categories of romance simply proves her talent as an author. Once again, she has given this reader a book that gave all the fills a romance reader could desire in her latest release Unsupervised!!!
We meet the incredibly snarky, quick-witted, romance comedy lovin' to loathin' Laken. All she wants is an in.....a flippin' nibble...a toe in the door at Tate and Cane Enterprises but with each 'we regret to inform you' letter she is at her wits end. Not to mention the job she HAS to work in order NOT to starve or be homeless with none other than satan's mistress in the land of bitchtopia. It's miraculous she has a tongue from all the biting it gets to keep her snarky comments to a minimum!!! If it weren't for the evil womans son she would've been gone!!
Niall is a single dad doing all he can to ensure his daughter has the best. A prestigious school for his daughter, his job as a photographer for Tate and Cane Enterprises.....yup, all is looking good for Niall. Well that is until the queen of grabby hands wants payment for her 'helping' get Niall's daughter placed in that oh so prestigious school. A little white lie won't hurt...nope, it'll get this circling vulture off his back. Well that's what he thought, now that little lie has to show up on his arm at the upcoming Gala.
A little eye candy at the park, a smackdown at the slide, a none to innocent convo as to the likes of being strictly a vanilla kinda girl and a teeny tiny white lie.... is that so wrong? Not to mention the witty rapport or white hot, lust driven pull Niall and Laken have towards one another!!!
"Well, Mr. Mackey....put your drink where your mouth is and prove it." "Play your cards right, and I'll put it somewhere else."
Laken needs an 'in' into Tate and Cane Enterprises.....Niall needs a fiancé to ward off the she-devil. This should be a piece of cake...spend a little time together, get to know one another, fool the venomous black widow trying to get her hands on his 'joystick', and a toe in the door for Laken. This is doable, what could go wrong!!! ALOT can, could and does!!!!
If you are a fan of romantic comedy movies and LOVE a good romance read, this is the book for you! All the feels you could ask for in a HEA romance!
First of all I want to say I've been wanting to read one of Cora's books, and finally made time, and I'm soo glad I did! I Loved this book! I was drawn in from the very beginning, and it kept my attention, and if I could have not put down and read it through non-stop I would have! Now on to the book... It starts in the middle of the crazy heartbreaking situation of Laken crying, eating ice cream out of the carton, and wine straight from the bottle, then retro back to the beginning.... Niall has found himself in the middle of a situation he's not sure how he ended up in, just by trying to get his daughter into a good school. He has a great job doing what he loves as a photographer for a large company, but with Gloria's pull he's as risk of losing it all. She's after him, and when they're alone the only way he can think of to get her to keep her hands off of him is he tells her that he's engaged. So now Gloria wants to meet his fiancé at the upcoming gala. So he has 4 weeks to find a fake fiancé. Laken keeps applying for the internship at Tate & Cane, and keeps getting the unfortunate rejection letter. She's a nanny for Preston, who she has a large soft spot for, since his mother's such a nasty fake woman. She keeps working for her because of Preston, and the possible foot in the door at Tate & Cane. Laken takes Preston to the park, and spots a handsome photographer, while she's trying to concentrate on her studies. All of a sudden Preston's screaming because some kid is punching him. Laken rushes over to his rescue, to find out it was Sophie (Niall's daughter). They get into a confrontation over the kids fighting, and then decide to go out for ice cream. Niall makes the assumption that Preston is Laken's son, and Laken does not correct him. Niall sees this as the perfect woman for what he's needing. since he can give her what she needs, a possible foot in the door at Tate & Cane. Niall and Laken have to learn each other in order to pull this off. Laken never corrects about Preston not being her son, and just gets in deeper. They feelings develop even, while talking rom com, kids, and listening to his wonderful accent. Then things go south they learn at the gala that Gloria who Niall is trying to fool, is also Laken's boss, and Preston's mom!!!! OUCH!!! Retro back to the beginning scene with the ice cream, crying, and wine! How will this end! This cannot be over! I love all the characters in this book, everyone fits together so well, it's a must read!!
