"It’s...amazing to think that the books I’ve worked on are in the hands of kids who will themselves be Star Wars fans for decades. I grew up with books such as Han Solo at Stars’ End , and they meant everything to me; it’s gratifying and humbling to think there may be fans who will wind up feeling the same way about Rey’s Survival Guide or Bomber Command ." — Jason Fry , author of Star Wars VIII The Last Bomber Command

This is the companion to the Cobalt Squadron book. In this case the companion turns out to be so much better then that actual book. Yes the book is written for younger readers but it is, good straight to the point, and I learn more about the character in the (A5 size) 100 or so page book then I did in much bigger and much slower Cobalt Squadron book. yes the book has many pictures and foldout sections, these add to the fun of the book.
This book is written as a journal extracts by Paige Tico. The older sister of Rose Tico, even though she did not get much screen time in the movie definitely showed her metal in the time she had. The books talks about her history, her own though on the resistance the leadership, her unit, and of course her sister. With as couple of extracts from Rose herself. Personally because of her part in the movie this was definitely a story that needed to be told. It had me from the start the first page. She lives bubble, the only people she can see are the enemy fighter trying to killer her before she kills them, and her only feeling is the recoil from the guns she is firing.
This is the book Cobalt Squadron should have been, I think that book should have been written in Paige's point of view. This book cover their mission in the book as well as others, and condenses it down and give the important details so much quicker. My advice is do not bother with Cobalt and just read this one.
Great follow up read to the Cobalt Squadron novel for the Last Jedi tie ins. This is more of a journal of the late bomber pilot, Paige Tico, including schematics, sketches, journal entries, of what it was like to be part of the bomber squadron.
I really enjoyed CObalt Squadron, and this references that book though pics and little info tidbits. Very cool making the galaxy a little more detailed.
Some things I noticed: I could NOT read a page of this book. There was a page of black background and red text. It was too difficult to read and I got a bit frustrated. Another thing, the journal was a little out of order. It referenced a mission that happened later early on, so it broke me out of the whole "I'm read Paige's bomber journal" thing.
But all in all, a great quick read with lots of details.
I wasn't too interested in all of the heavy details on Paige's bomber ship and her tactics, but I liked the added backstory we get to Paige and Rose's childhood and what led them to the Resistance. The ending got me, honestly. It's not bad - I'd REALLY recommend checking out Rose and Paige's story in Star Wars: Age of Resistance - Heroes! That ending literally gives me chills just thinking about it.
A replica of Paige Tico's journal. It is a companion to COBALT SQUADRON and frankly far better.
It is geared for an even younger audience and much shorter, but it conveys the same key information in a more engaging format.
Paige didn't exactly get much time oncreen in The Last Jedi but she left a lasting impression with her heroic death. Both COBALT SQUADRON and this book cover the history of Paige and Rose from when they were kids to how they got involved with the resistance. We meet their unit, Cobalt Sqaudron, and the various members that became their friends and allies.
This book simply does a better job of telling the story and the facts about Paige, Rose, and their missions.
I really love books like this that a) give us a chance to get to know minor characters like Paige, and b) show us day-to-day minutiae of the Resistance. I picked up Poe Dameron's Flight Log for those reasons, and I'm really glad I picked this one up, too!
Lolz ok so I’ve never been into reading Star Wars books but with all this new Disney shit being canon now I have to read it all. Anyway, this book is lame and poorly written but it was interesting for the few things I learned. Namely about Rose & Paige’s Home territory Hays Minor, the First Order’s slow rise to power and subsequent take-over of many territories, and the Resistance side of Leia pleading with the New Republic for aid and the day-to-day goings ons. There was a lot of touchy-feely stuff that was just dumb but it was cool. Oh, and the graphs were good.
This is a novel starring Paige Tico, sister of Rose from The Last Jedi.
Jason Fry digs into Paige's character in this all-ages novel, as is the traditional style of the movie tie-in. Kids of any age will love this story, a brand-new adventure with a terrific hero in the time frame of The Last Jedi movie.
The illustrations and the haphazard, fun journal-style design of the book will pull in younglings who are not quite ready for page after page of text.
All books should have design schematics for space bombers. There, I said it.
As a Star Wars nerd, I love reading about characters we only see for a second on film. Getting to know Rose Tico's sister, Paige, was a fun read and great insight into Rose. This is an excellent read for younger readers, especially for the super geeky ones who want to know all the details of ships, creatures, and characters of the SW universe.
Some interesting back story of Rose's sister Paige. If you don't know who she is, she was at the beginning of the movie. Some cool backstory about the two sisters that I appreciated. Was obviously written for a younger reader as a journal. But there was some cool info about the resistance and other things in here.
Buen complemento para Cobalt Squadron y The Last Jedi, pero, el uso de imágenes recicladas, y un diseño que no corresponde con el papel que usaron, hace que deje mucho que desear.
I love reading these types of books. It’s just a fun an fascinating way to explore these characters deeply. The first type of novel like this was Rey’s Survival Guide and after reading that I had a way better understanding of her, so reading this and learning a lot about Rose and Paige was such a delight.
A companion to Cobalt Squadron, this gives us a better perspective of Paige Tico and her history as the big sister and her love for a Rose that has a hard time to understand that she´s brilliant and needs to start shining on her own.
The last page is heartbreaking and I hate Jason and Rian for doing this to us :(
Filled in some interesting back story elements around a couple of characters in The Last Jedi. The mixed media format was cute but some of the supporting documents were dry and added little to the story.
Good companion piece to Cobalt Squadron, though not sure if you should read this first. Initially, yes, but it does end up summarizing the CS’s plot. Also, if you haven’t watched the movie, there are spoilers.

the author was in a tough spot. he had to take a terribly introduced character and make her interesting. for his effort, 5 stars. for the actual character, 2 stars. the book was meh. not the author's fault.
Even though Paige Tico is only given a little screen time in The Last Jedi, she made an impact on me. I enjoyed reading a little more about her in this book.
