Born and raised a Jersey girl with easy access to NYC, I was never short on ideas for stories. I started writing when I was 11, and my passion for creating worlds exploded from that point on. Romance writing came later, since kissing gave you cooties at 11, but when it did, I embraced it. Since then, all of my heroes and heroines find their happily ever after, even if it takes a good fight, or ten, to get there.

I currently live in Central Florida with my husband, our four children, and two parakeets. I work part-time as a PCU nurse when I’m not writing or traveling between sports and other activities.

I usually listen to Nocturne Falls Universe books as my light-hearted reads in the car as I'm running errands or stuck on the highway. They're fun and the easy-going romantic stories are good balances for some of the "heavier" books I read and podcasts I listen to.

However, this one never resonated with me. The action was spaced too far apart and the ultimate resolution was a snooze-fest. No, really. I had to go back and listen to the last 2 chapters again because it was so boring my mind kept drifting.

I gave it three stars because my 2-star rating is usually for books that are just next to gosh-awful; however, I think fans of the NFU books will still like this installment.

When Kaylae is told by her uncle to get in the car and run away, she does just that and follows the clues in the letters that she finds along the way to get to Nocturne Falls. She meets Zareth in Nocturne Falls and he immediately knows that there's something special about her.

As soon as Zareth realizes who Kaylae is and who she is related to, he understands his pull towards her. She is his keeper and his lifemate. A keeper is the eyes and ears of the dragon out in the world and Zareth is a dragon shifter. He's been on the run from an enemy who wants him dead and also killed Kaylae's family. The enemy would also kill her if they get the chance to do so. So he and his clan have no choice but to prepare for the enemy to make an appearance because they know they're out there trying to find all of them.

The enemy were called The Baroqueth and they wanted the dragons powers. They found out that if they killed the dragons, they could take in the dragon powers as their own. Of course one of the Baroqueth found them in Nocturne Falls and Kaylae finds herself in danger. This doesn't end on a cliffhanger but they aren't able to take out the Baroqueth so I'm sure we'll see more of them in subsequent books. I really like how this ended and I really like how Zareth and Kaylae find themselves so attracted to each other. I found this book to be a really fun one.

It took me a while to read A Dragon Speaks Her Name. At first I couldn't put my finger on the reason for it. I just kept reading other stuff instead of the novella. I found I lost complete interest at some point and only read on because, well I felt obliged.
I am glad I finished it. It does have some great ideas. I love the idea of keepers and dragons. Buthe world building feels incomplete and a not completely thought-out. I am not sure if this is because of the pace of the story, I will talk about it a bit later. I just found myself a bit unsatisfied with the bits we are given, I kinda wanted more.
The character building is my favorite part of the novella. Though I was not a huge fan of Kaylae in the beginning, I did feel for her and I got where she was coming from.
I like Zar, a lot, he is the perfect swoony shifter love interest.
The support cast however felt a bit incomplete - a bit too cliche? - I found myself not connecting to any of them
The reason I rated this only as ok, however is the fact that I felt the pacing of this story was all over the place. It like Nyte had a bunch of things she wanted to go through and she ticked them off as she went along. It isn't a straight a to b to c thing however, she started on strand of the story, put it aside to indulge in the romance, then when that was sorted we went back to the "main"story.
It felt disruptive and makes the story feel choppy. But also left me thinking that it was all too convenient and so planned out.
Though I like the idea of the story line, I found the execution of it left me wanting. I do think that's connected to the pace. But there were things, we were not explained at all. I was left with questions, a couple plot twists felt to convenient and planned and the end felt rushed.

Though I like the idea, the novella didn't really work for me.

The compelling force that draws the romantic principles, Kaylae and Zareh, of this tale are so complete, so flawless that it reads like stylized fairy tales with archetypal love. This is not a bad thing, but author Nyte introduces a very large story arc with the dragons age old enemies and then resolves it with, literally, a good witch who comes out of the forest, like a fairy tale ending. This is not a bad thing necessarily but it lacks the archetypal resonance of fairytales to be able to have such a lack of real tension in the plot or in the romance. This being said, the backstory of the Firestorm dragons and the world creation that predates the story is fascinating and well thought out and promises more in a future book.

Having a dragon in any story ups the entertainment value in my book. This read was very interesting and had a unique flavor to it. I enjoyed it very much.

Kaylae is on the run, she doesn't know why, just that a mysterious box was on her passenger seat and a scavenger hunt to follow of sorts. Ending up in Nocturne Falls she decides to see the sites and have a bite to eat. Except she hears voices in her head and when she is touched by a stranger she blacks out. Zareh has been around for years, a very rare, almost unbelieved in, shifter, he's been hiding out in Nocturne Falls for a while now.

This was a darker story than we are used to for the Nocturne Falls Universe, however underlying it all is Kaylae and Zarehs love story. Kaylae has thought herself crazy her whole life, but then after her run in with Zareh everything changes. Kaylae's story has scary elements, she is on the run from something she knows nothing about, for that reason she strikes me as a brave amazing woman. And Zareh is a protective and kind alpha male I couldn't help but love.

A Dragon Speaks Her Name by Kira Nyte

From the kindle world of Kristen Painter.
Nocturne Falls is a safe haven for paranormal beings. They celebrate Halloween year round to help hide the unusual in the open.

Kaylae is following mysterious instructions that lead her to Nocturne Falls. She is in Keeper and her dragon soon finds her at Howlers.

A bit of an adventure since the dragon population is under threat by their enemy. This book includes the encounter of the enemy, but is incomplete in resolution.
I liked the characters and their immediate connection, but I want the end. This is a beginning and middle. Not a cliff hanger, because nothing happened at the end. Cute love story though.

Excerpt about Nocturne Falls:
“You found a great place here, Zar. The people are quite incredible. They band together in times of need. For that, you should be grateful.”

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author in return for my honest review.

A Dragon Speaks Her Name, by Kira Nyte, is another fantastic entry into the Nocturne Falls Universe series. Ms. Nyte does a wonderful job of matching the 'tone' of the universe created by Kristen Painter, and the characters she's created are sympathetic, fascinating and at times, heartbreaking. By the end of the book, I found myself rooting for Zareh and Kaylae and wishing I could read more of their life together.

While I will always love Kristen Painter's stories best, this was another entertaining romp in the universe she created and I enjoyed it very much.

The Nocturne Falls Universe stories are just the best. This book had adventure, suspense, and romance...a little of everything. The characters were engaging and relatable. Also, the story brought in original characters from the Nocturne Falls books by Kristen Painter and were spot on.

I loved this one as we followed more along the journey of the dragon. We felt his love and lust and struggle as he was graced with his life mate only to find she knows nothing of his kind or who she really is. He knows she is his but how does he prove that to her when she hardly knows herself?

This is a story about a dragon and his potential lifemate, Zareh and Kaylae. I struggled to finish it. The writing was good and the story was fairly interesting, but the characters were not very tolerable.
Let me start with Kaylae, a prototype of damsel in distress, a woman who cannot lift a finger to protect herself, constantly on the run until she meets a big strong protector to take care of her. And Zareh is barely keeping it together, almost loosing control from all the desire for Kaylae and overwhelming need to protect her and mate with her. Zareh's best friend is Alazar, a compulsive gambler, and a dragon, of course. Kaylae's late father thought that the best way to protect his daughter would be to teach her to run, not trust anyone and keep her completely in the dark about anything relevant that might help her protect herself, like history of her clan and family, maybe some self-defence, or any knowledge of who is after her and what is she up against. She is up against Baroquet, but it is not clear who they are or why they are after until nearly the end of the book. Furthermore, Kaylae moans from pleasure when eating any food, like she never eat food in her life. Makes no sense.
The writing style is good and the way the book starts, it is gripping, interesting and suspensefull, then it becomes flat, and after about two thirds it picks up in a completely different, almost cheerful tone and faster pace, that it almost feels like I have missed something, although the end was somewhat better. And there is a very abrupt appearance of relationships and feelings that were not explained and properly constructed, there is no build up, just nothing and then suddenly something. It was not one of my favourites in the series, however, it features Willa and Nick, which is a plus.
The Nocturne Falls reading order is: The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls #1), The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls #2), The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3), The Professor Woos The Witch (Nocturne Falls, #4), and The Witch’s Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) in Spell of the Ball Anthology, The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls #4.6) in Hex the Halls Anthology, The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls #5), A Vampire's Valentine Surprise (Nocturne Falls #5.5), Miss Frost Solves A Cold Case : A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #1), The Shifter Romances The Writer (Nocturne Falls #6), Miss Frost Ices The Imp : A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #2), The Vampire’s True Love Trials (Nocturne Falls #6.5) in Taming the Vampire collection, Miss Frost Saves The Sandman : A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #3), The Dragon Finds Forever (Nocturne Falls #7), The Vampire's Accidental Wife (Nocturne Falls #8), and ever growing series of Nocturne Universe Novels, which surpassed fifteen by now. Great world to get yourself immersed in.

This is a great book; this book is part of the Nocturne Falls Universe and is written by Kira Nyte. The Nocturne Falls series is written by Kristen Painter and I was so happy that these new books by new authors were asked to write a story in the town. Nocturne Falls is a town that celebrates Halloween every day of the year and also a place that paranormal’s can live and not have to hide what they really are. Kaylae Drayce is convinced she’s crazy. She hears voices in her head and dreams of fiery apocalyptic wars. That’s nothing compared to the terror she feels when the only people she loves are taken from her and she’s forced to run for her life all the way to Nocturne Falls. The town promises her one of two things: Answers to her madness or a one-way ticket to an asylum. Zareh Lutherone is shattered to discover the Firestorm dragons’ ancient enemy has found and murdered his Keeper. He is plotting his next move in preparation for another war when a beautiful stranger literally falls into his arms. He doesn’t know who she is, only that the dragon inside him demands he protect her at all costs. It doesn’t take long to understand why. Faced with a daunting task of convincing Kaylae she isn’t crazy—she is his Keeper and lifemate—just got complicated. Their enemy is hot on their tail and will stop at nothing to get their hands on Kaylae in order to destroy the last of an ancient dragon race. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.

Series: Nocturne Falls Universe
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Kaylae Drayce is on the run and has ended up in Nocturne Falls. While in Nocturne Falls she finds the truth about her heritage and why people are trying to kill her.

This was a pretty enjoyable dragon romance. As always, I love the setting of Nocturne Falls, even through the eyes of other authors. Kaylea and Zareh were pretty good characters and I enjoyed their fated mate romance.

My issue with this book is that while the concept of the dragon keepers was very fascinating, it wasn’t explained very well. The explanation given is adequate but it does leave you with a lot of questions with no expectations of finding the answers. I feel like this story needed a prequel book to better explain why the dragons and keepers left their world.

Overall this was a fun and enjoyable story, but I do wish the characters backstories and heritages had been better fleshed out.

Hmmm, from all kind of shifters, I found myself like dragon shifters more. Most of the time, when they’re the protagonists, they are pictured as fiercely beast, big and sexy, with tender heart. So, whenever a dragon shifter appears on a book, I’m eager to read it.

The story here was unique. Kaylae was a dragon keeper, Zareh’s keeper to be precise, yet she had no idea about his kind nor herself. A journey of convincing someone that she’s belonged to him, along with saving her, was the backbone of the story. It was interesting, although this is not the first time I read a book where there’s a particular destined mate for a shifter.

The book was quite enjoyable, yet I felt like the story wasn’t going smoothly. Not really a book where I can’t put it down. I also felt that the background story needed to be constructed more detail. All in all, a nice read.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

《WHEW!!》

What an adventure.
Poor Kaylae, FMC, had no idea what was happening to her.
Her whole life, she thought she was schizophrenic and was about ready to commit herself to an insane asylum.
A week before her dad and uncle were murdered and she went on a strange scavenger hunt and ended up meeting Zareh, MMC.
She finds out that her father was a Keeper, who was a companion to Zareh, who was one of the original and oldest dragons. And she was now his keeper and potential lifemate.
This story in Nocturne Falls is different from the others. It is a lot more action & intrigue and
A LOT less heat, but definitely a good read.

A Dragon Speaks Her Name by Kira Nyte is a Kristen Painter Nocturne Falls Universe Story.

And it's a good one.

Kaylae believes she is crazy. Certifiable, needs the padded room full of med's, straightjacketed, crazy.

She hears voices. All the time, all the voices.

Then she's sent on a whirlwind scavenger hunt that ends in a strange town called Nocturne Falls, in Georgia, she falls basically into a Dragon's arms, and it gets weird from there.

This is a really good story, fits well into the Nocturne Falls Universe, and I enjoyed it immensely. Definite need to read.

A Nocturne Falls Universe Title- Kristen Painter allows other authors to play in her univers and this title felt more like Kristen's books than most others I have read. A mysterious past, a flight to find safety, a dragon in search of his keeper. What more could a Nocturne Falls fan want? The book could have been a little longer, a hint that Alazar has a mate out there... but I enjoyed this book which was a little more than a novella, a little less than a full blown novel size. I enjoyed it.

A Dragon Speaks Her Name is the story of Kaylae, a Keeper (unbeknownst to her) and her dragon Zareh. This was a beautiful romance. It had a slightly darker edge than some on the other NFU books, but that in no way detracted from the story. The characters were developed well. The story wrapped up well with a cliffhanger at the end. I hope to read more in this series by this author, especially if future heroes are Cade or Alazar!! Loved them too!!

I guess I'm a bit biased with this one as I love dragons. Of course it helped that I liked central characters Kaylae and Zareh and the whole concept of dragon and keeper.

Would love a sequel though as the ending seemed to leave things quite open, with Kaylae and Zareh still under threat from their enemies the Baroqueth.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the story and felt it fits well into the Nocturne Falls Universe despite being different...indeed that was part of it's appeal for me.

Oh My HEA!

This story has so many twists and turns it will keep you from putting it down. I could not get enough and when I read the last page I was left both happy and sad. The HEA ending was so sweet and the chemistry of the couple is wonderful, they keep the heavy content from being too heavy. I sincerely hope that there will be more stories to follow. Definitely an author worth checking out. I will be looking for more.

I adore this book very very much, it's an amazing read and very in depth with story and history truly want to read alot more about them and more about them in future, I most definitely would love to hex their foes in to the seventh level of hell and leave them there for preying on good people.

I am very close to obsessed with them and very much looking forward to seeing more about them in future.

Thank you for writing this it's amazing Kira.

so there is a new world with no world building in it at all. Why even do that? Yea we meat some of the Nucturne Falls people like Alice etc but what happened to those dragon hunters? They where gone.. really? Did they got away, did they arrested them? Are they a life or not? What is this?!
This is between 2 and 3 stars for me, just like the other one
A Dragon Gambles For His Girl....
Just not enough there to want to read it again or keep reading books about the dragons if there should be more to follow.

I have enjoyed all the Nocturne Falls Universe books, however this one is one of my favorites! This story is about Zareh a rare fire dragon and Kaylea a dragon keeper. I really enjoyed this story and I wish it was a full novel. I came to love the characters and want to visit them more. I hope Kira writes more with Zareh, Kaylae, and Alazar!

Dragon Delight

Ever since I read my first Pern novel by Anne McCaffrey, I've been enamored with dragons, and I'm so thrilled to have found another author who is skilled enough to capture my imagination so thoroughly. This is a wonderful addition to the Nocturne Falls universe and I can't wait to read the next book from Kira Nyte!

Hot!

The love and stories continue with this series additions by wonderful authors. Kyra Nyte adds to the Nocturne Falls Universe in the spirit started by the original author. Incorporating the original characters she writes characters whose personalities emerge, stories unfolding in such a way to keep the reader entranced while painting a lovely picture with her prose.

A wonderful, enchanting read.

Written with grace.
But sadly, I stumbled over the names of the two main characters for the entire story.
Forgive me. This may seem very trivial in light of the talent and enviable imagination of this author.
I tried to get passed it. I tried multiple pronunciations but it was still a snag in an otherwise seamless tale.

A nice short story from Nocturne Falls Universe.
If you look for light paranormal romance stories, these are really good.
You can read as solo, but I would recommend at least read the first one to understand the dynamic of the city and its characters.
It is not from the same author of the original series, but it goes by the same path.

I really liked this story but wish it didn't end in a sort of cliff hanger. There were times I wish things would've flowed better but I loved the characters and the idea of keepers and dragons. Who could resist a book with that?
