My name is Scarlett Smith. And I’m a vampire who was raised by a pack of wolves. Little crazy, I know. But let’s not get hung up on semantics here. Because I’ve got a story to tell.
There’s something inside of me. A darkness. And she’s really starting to make herself known, think Harley Quinn on ’roids and you might get the picture. She’s powerful and definitely unhinged, but I don’t have time to focus on that right now because I’ve got bigger fish to fry.
From the Alpha shifter on trial for breaking the unbreakable oath to a local vampire clan wanting me to party like it’s 1699, I’m in neck deep—pun intended. Have no fear though. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeves and some unexpected allies in my corner. Sure, there are bound to be a few surprises along the way, and I’m guessing they aren’t all good. But, no one ever said being dead would be easy…
Selene Charles is the pen name of a NY Times and USA Today bestselling author.
She is an avid penguin sweater knitter. She believes that unicorns really do exist and that skittles aren't really candy at all. She enjoys skydiving in the arctic, chatting with her polar bear friends around a warm campfire while sipping on warm cocoa, and she used to work in a travelling carnival which is where she got all these crazy ideas from. Only two of these statements are actually true.

So many questions answered, so many new ones swirling around. Finally Scar knows who she is, and what it takes to save the one she loves. I couldn't put it down couldn't stop turning he pages desperate to see what would happen, with these two veilers that are hopelessly in love but keep hitting obstacles that tear them apart!
Mercer lordy lordy swoon I'm in love he's true ultimate alpha a stop at nothing powerhouse when it comes to protecting Scar but sweet as sugar with those he truly loves. Scarlett the amazing woman that is both badass and sassy, but also vulnerable and really just a girl trying to figure out why the shifter she would raze the world for keeps pushing her away.
Plus the entire cast of secondary characters that are simply amazing. I truly enjoyed every aspect of this book and can't wait for the next one!
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Amazing as always! Characters are charming and easy to fall in love with! The story line is exciting and easy to follow! Can't wait for the next installment! Great job again!
Love, love, love how this progressed. It didn't feel rushed and it was very smartly written. I want to devour the next book already, though it doesn't come out till March. I truly hope this will be a long running series and not a short trilogy. These characters are worth being invested in!
Totally in love with this series. I couldn't put this one down. Actually, You're lucky I too a second to write this before I dive head first into the final book and get lost. Read the series, it's seriously addictive!
This book was such a delightful read. The truth finally comes out. Who Scarlett really is revealed. Mercer is finally able to act on his love for her, but he might be too late.
Scarlett has retreated into herself after being pushed away one too many times from Merc. When he gets permission to finally shows his true feelings, she won't allow herself to be swayed by his games anymore. For twenty plus years, he's done nothing but play games with her heart, and now she's done. Mercer has to prove to her that he's there to stay and that his love is genuine.
When Scar is forced to kill a vampire who attacks her little brother, Steven, the Master Vampire invites her to a ball. She knows that it's a trap, but if she doesn't go, something worse can happen. So she and Mercer attend the ball, but she has a surprise for them all.
The last book left me a bit... riled up. Not really liking Scar or Merc or Jamie at all. So I started the sequel with a bit of trepidation and it caught me totally by surprise, opened the floodgates wide and had me crying, and crying good within a few pages. My heart broke for Mercer and I forgave him everything in a New York second. I wanted to cuddle him and tell him everything is gonna be alright - but knowing that this was far from sure I gripped my tissue box and read on. And the story just got better, wonderfully tragic and tearjerking and oh no why do they doooo that rant inducing, playing havoc on my emotions but I absolutely totally loved how it played out, how everything I disliked in book one found a perfect solution only to dissolve into new problems. If you ever read R.S. Black's Night series you might be accustomed to Dean's shenanigans, if not, buckle up and be ready for a wild ride. Even though he is right, love is a weakness, at least for some, it's always worth it. The end left me with goosebumps all over and desperately needing more!
A Vampire, an alpha wolf and a ghost. This book has it all. Scarlett is back trying to figure out if she loves Mercer or hates him! And Mercer is tired hiding his feelings from Scarlett. And Boo? He's just there trying to help Scar when she needs him. It is a good book and a definite fun read! Highly recommend.
Oh the feels this series brings out in you. The struggle our two characters go through with their undeniable love that seems forbidden but can't be denied. Scarlett learns who and what she is along with a betrayal that will burn deep for her. I love the tad bit of a crossover with Dean and Pandora, it's fun to read about them again. The ending was fantastic and I look forward to the next book.
