Deb Stover

At the tender age of four, Deb Stover declared her candidacy to become the first female President of the United States. She took a detour to play Lois Lane and penned her first Letter to The Editor at age eleven. The Lois Lane gig suited her, but she couldn't bring herself to blow Clark Kent's cover for the Big Story. At a relatively young age, she met and fell in love with her own real American Hero, so Superman was free to continue fighting for justice (seriously, what is Clark doing about the dearth of phone booths these days?).

Considering her extensive personal experience with real heroes (Dad, Superman, Husband), redirecting her passion for writing from journalism to Romance Novels seemed a natural progression. Since publication of Shades of Rose in 1995, she has received dozens of awards for her work, which includes over twenty titles in a variety of languages and formats.

A native of Wichita, Kansas, Deb and her family have lived in five states, but after her Hero Husband's death, she recently made the decision to follow the Yellow Brick Road back to be near her Hero Dad in Kansas. After all "there's no place like home."

Of course, there's still the unfinished matter of her presidential campaign, but first she has many more stories left to write....

Second chance slowmance

This just wasn't for me. It was slow and another 10 year long separation both with other partners and a big misunderstanding to boot. Too much thinking and not enough speaking. I hate that she didn't stay to confront him. Most women would have. Just to know why. It all ended well but was a slow boat all the way through. Loved the dog!

Always takes place in the Colorado Mountains in a small town. The town paid for the doctor's education and she needed to return to her hometown for three years as the town doctor. She had left just after high school without saying good-by to anyone, especially to Gordon, her boyfriend and lover due to a giant misunderstanding. Her return involves fire ants, bear tracks and mudslides before they find a way to forgive each other and learn to trust again.

The entire misunderstanding developed due to a lack of communication and trust. The story deals with these issues as the two main characters, Gordon and Taylor learn to trust the attraction for each other that have never left either of them for the ten years they were apart. This is a delightful story of love and forgiveness set in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The second love story of Sue and Jeremy made a good plot addition with Ryan adding his unique ten-year-old perspective.

Ten years ago Taylor and Gordon were madly in love until something happens to rattle their hearts. Taylor is left feeling confused and betrayed so she leaves her small hometown. While Gordon is left heartbroken and hurt because Taylor didn't trust him.
The present has Taylor coming back to the small town, who doesn't think that anyone would stay their whole lives there, and the people of her past must have moved on, right?
To her dismay and her deepest secret hopes, the first person she runs into is Gordon, who is having a bit of a hilarious situation. Is that spark still alive between them?
They both soon find out that they will be sharing an office space, temporality, forcing them together.
Can they manage to mend the broken trust they once had as young high schoolers? Or just leave it in the past and let it go?

Find out in this feel-good love story about how just because so much time passes doesn't mean you ever forget, or stop loving, your first love.

Taylor and Gordon belonged together. They did ten years ago...and they still do now. I loved this second chance love story. It didn't move too fast. Somewhat easy to predict, but that did not take away one bit of my enjoyment. I really liked reading about such nice people. Anyway, everything that had happened was from a misunderstanding and any act of jealous mistrust. Sue now works for Gordon and also Taylor, temporarily. She is a doll. Her dabbling in those tarot cards was a hoot! I loved her son. His contraption was hilarious! Dr. Dweeb seems like a good guy afterall. Mother Nature really lent a hand in this one...a couple of times, lol. I had a great time with this book. Such a cute story.

How about the story?

Huge thanks to Abrotok (http://bookrature.com/ ) for giving me the book

There is nothing wrong with the book per say. Everything required for the book is in equal measure. A story followed by strong set of characters and added flavors of narration and language. Every one of these ingredients is evident throughout the book but even so there is something which is not making the book the best read

The book has a story but in my opinion takes a lot of time to get developed and even so is done over the period of its final wrapping up, towards the very ending and in this abrupt treatment kind of kills the joy and curiosity of the plot

The book opens a little lukewarm which goes on to a level of stagnancy that is maintained throughout. The pace doesn’t waver from the path and just follows lazily on the same old track until suddenly it realizes that it has used up more than half of the book space and it is time to suddenly tie everything up and so it does over the last few chapters

The basic flaw I found is that the author had spent a lot of time trying to sketch the central characters, their relationship and past with each other and above all trying to work on the sexual tension between both our central characters that the basic plot or other aspects tend to go unnoticed and untreated.

The book basically revolves around just the two characters, their inner conflicts and monologues that you are unable to see anything above or beyond these two which should have been great had there been a strong backing of the story as well

For romance fan, yes this will be a fine read but only a fine read. There was a story in there somewhere which was molested badly by the central characters by revolving around each other’s sexual and all other tensions that at the end you only take away the names of the two central characters and nothing much. Not the real reason or base of the story, or the origin of the characters or anything in between that should matter but then again every individual’s requirements from each book varies do I guess in that way I would say it is a fair enough book.

A Matter of Trust is a classic romance read, telling the tale of Taylor and Gordon, a pair of childhood sweethearts who are unexpectedly thrown together again years after their first romance came to an untimely end. As life continues to draw the two ever closer, it's no surprise that before long, the old passion is rekindled and it only takes one small spark to ignite a fire that will change their lives forever...

The book is predictable yet comforting in its familiarity - there are no sudden twists or a lack of that all-important happy ending. A Matter of Trust is easy to get into yet engaging enough to keep you turning the page - the inevitability of Taylor and Gordon's reunion is certainly not an off-putting factor. In fact, it keeps you wanting to read on and discover just how things will pan out for the loved-up pair.

Filled with more than its fair share of passionate encounters, misunderstandings and betrayals, A Matter of Trust is a sweet summer read and perfect for injecting a dose of passion into your reading diet!

I've not read anything by Ms. Stover in the past. I was a little disappointed in the credulity of the story. I know it's fiction but I expect some level of believability, even in a time travel. The whole "move the execution to a remove cave in the mountains" was just beyond my level of acceptance.

For the most part, the two main characters are flat. Their main conflicts are lies and half-truths which isn't sustainable for a full length novel in my opinion but Ms. Stover stretched it out.

The other plot points - the disfigured survivor from the explosion that stranded out time travelers and the kid in the jail for killing his dad - seem more a separate story at times.

Another typical plot that turns into a so-so romance. I would have given the book one more star but towards the end, it felt like the author rushed to finish. All of a sudden there is a one month gap of time and a lot seems to have happened in that one month time frame. Why rush, after going through the minute details of day to day pieces up to this point?? This book is not "EROTICALLY CHARGED" as the cover states - so take the cover with a grain of salt!

Slow read for me with a mediocre love story that seems to take ages to come together and then finishes in a rush.

I'm not a fan of the "big misunderstanding" especially one that went on as long as this one. But I liked the characters and the moments of humor. And it was pretty steamy too.
