Clara’s to learn magic tomorrow. Finally, she’ll begin to understand who and what she is. A witch. A magician. Something in between the two, something new. No one’s ever been able to access magic like she does.
But tomorrow doesn’t come.
The merworld claims Clara instead.
There’s only one person that can save her from the merworld’s devious illusions. But first he has to return from the edge of death, and even then he may not get either of them out.
That’s not even the worst of their problems.
An immortal count, with a heart fueled by darkness and death, intends to take more from them than the merworld does, and he has centuries’ worth of power to make it happen.
Lucía Ashta is the internationally top 20 bestselling author of young adult, new adult, and adult paranormal and urban fantasy books, including the series Magical Creatures Academy, Witches of Gales Haven, Smoky Mountain Pack, and Supernatural Bounty Hunter.
When Lucía isn't writing, she's reading, painting, or adventuring. Magical fantasy is her favorite, but the action, romance, and quirky characters are what keep her hooked on books.
A TOUCH OF GOLD!!! When Lucia's hot, she's sizzling. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Every story I've read of that Lucia's written I've love her creative bent. I truly believe she pours her heart and soul in each piece. She totally rocks this read just like the others. Her creative talents along with her imagination and insight are limitless and hold. Her characters are so realistic and believable she brings them alive before our eyes. Their personalities are spot on with human characteristics that will blow your mind and leave you breathless. Her descriptions are graphic to give you a full understanding and realism that seems to breathe with life. As always Lucia did an incredible job bringing this read together beautifully. Great job Lucia, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
After reading book 1 I went and bought book 2 as well and this is even better than book 1, it’s better than fantastic and I can’t wait to get book 3. In this book Clara finally accesses her magic but it’s dangerous and unstable. Clara and Marcelo are living together in a castle that has all kind of traps and Clara goes missing in one of those traps for 3 years, Marcelo just cannot find her but he is having troubles of his own. When the castle is under attack all of the creatures in the castle come alive to defend it. Clara is even more of a kick butt heroine and I’ve always loved a take charge kind of woman and she has matured a lot more since book 1. Fantastic characters and very well written story and the covers on books 1 and 2 are beautiful, I highly recommend this book.
The Five Petal Knot is the second book in the Witching World series. Ms Ashta continues from where she ended Book 1. She has continued to develop her magical world and well as developing the characters into interesting, loveable individual to a level that fits this second book. Ms. Ashta has the unique ability to bring her stories to life with the written word. You do not feel like you're reading about this story but that you are a part of the story experiencing the emotion and what is happening. There were many twists and turns, some I saw coming others that caught me by surprise. I am excited to begin the next book in this adventure. I highly recommend this phenomenal story and series. Don't pass it by. I received a copy and this is my voluntary and hones review.
The first book started off good with the heroine discovering who she was. I liked that one but this one has taken a slight dive. The target audience for this one are children and not the young adult that the main characters are. There's a lot of telling here. Then add the powerful damsel in distress. If she is that strong she should be able to save herself. Needless to say, book was rather slow and almost boring
This book 2 in the series is even more awesome than the first!
I love Lucia Ashta's writing! It seems as if each sentence is so thought provoking. I had to reread many of her sentences in order to absorb their meaning. I wonder where she comes up with her ideas. Very creative. I recommend this book to all ages.
The Five-Petal Knot is book two in Lucia Ashta’s Witching World series. This book continues on from where book one Magic Awakens ends.
A prodigy pygmy owl. A possessive firedrake. A booby-trapped castle. Gargoyles come to life. Who said magic would be ordinary?
No one can access magic like Clara does, but her powers are unpredictable and dangerous. She has to learn how to control them.
When she falls into one of the castle’s many traps before she can, becoming a prisoner of the merworld, there’s only one person who can save her. And he’s already fighting for his life.
But that’s not the worst of their problems. An immortal count, with a heart fueled by darkness, intends to claim the souls of everyone within Irele Castle. The castle and all its creatures come alive to defend it, but will it be enough to defeat the count’s army of gruesome creatures and save Clara before it’s too late?
Finally at Irele, Clara is unsure of the fate of herself and Marcelo. After being attacked by Winston and trying her best to get to Irele to save Marcelo, Clara has been running on adrenaline with the only thought of getting to Mordecai and Albacus for help. Clara’s training into magic is about to begin but the future is unclear with darkness approaching.
I really enjoyed this book, it was so much more exciting then book one. Clara grows and matures in this book, her acceptance towards her magic abilities is admirable. The bond and connection between Marcelo and Clara is beautiful and strong, with everything going on around them they are able to except what is going on between them and not question it. The brothers Mordecai and Albacus were bit of a mystery at the beginning but as the book goes on they become role models and father like figures.
This book was filled with action, suspense, mystery, magic, love, revelations, battle and death. I was hooked from the beginning and read it in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down and was disappointed when it ended, I rooted for the main characters and was shocked at the end of the battle. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these characters.
I really enjoyed this one. It was neat to see all the creatures she came up with to defend the castle for the darkness that was coming. Loved all the new powers Clara develops. SPOILER ALERT: The gift of seeing the future & the past. The fact that she knows there are 5 elements not 4. And it gives her confidence. I can't believe though that she hadn't thought th the older version of Marcelo could be his Dad. I also couldn't believe that as powerful as she was she froze in battle. Especially, after claiming how confident she was. I can't believe she didn't tell Marcelo she loved him before the battle started. She had 2 opportunities to do it! This book was finally longer than the others, I loved that! I can't wait to read what happens next.
I enjoyed reading this story before, after and during breaks at work. I think the story line is intriguing, and I wish it was a little bit longer so I could get to know the characters better. I laughed when the connection between all (magic - earth - air - water - fire) elements —> (the 5 petal knot) was made. This unique perspective of magic/life is how I understand how God made all things. I was happy to see someone else’s view so closely connect to my own. Romance can add intrigue to any story. The budding/quickly formed relationship formed in this story spurred my interest and made me long for more.
At the start of this book I wasn't very excited but the more I read the better it became. Marcello and Clara seem to be destined for one another, the brothers have come to see Clara as family.
The darkness Mordecai saw coming sure enough did and from that came some serious revelations, but also severe losses. It's a good thing Clara had finally embraced her magic, even if she can't control it yet. The enemy is still out there, and there are several who will be returning to fight those who live on mount Irele.
I like fantasy. And I am an admitted book junkie. But this story is becoming one of my favorites. I am looking forward to where Clara and Marcelo go from here. Now that Clara has awakened the power within her, someone who looks like a younger version of Marcelo threatens to take away everything and everyone she loves. My favorite part, however, is seeing Clara acknowledge the four foundational elements plus a fifth - I suspect it is Light or something similar - that ties them all together. Time to go download #3 :-)
Lucia Ashta writes with power, intrigue, imagination and strong characters. I spent many sleepless nights driven to the next turn in the story. Being 65 +years old I am finally able to enjoy this magical genre - never before able to enjoy Ms. Ashta and luckily finding The Witching Word trilogy. I look forward to entering more mystical alternative realities from Ms. Ashta. I thank her with joy!
Another fabulous book! I have read everyone of Lucia’s is books that I have gotten my hands on it without being able to put them down or stop
The writing is fabulous the storyline completely entertaining. The magic absolutely fascinating. You fall in love with the characters wolfs dwarfs fire drakes in humans alike.
I highly current recommend everyone reading these books! You won’t be sorry I guarantee it!
This is the second book and even better than the first book. I was reading this before bed and I was like I will read one chapter a night, but found myself reading six or seven chapters and having to force myself to put it down. I did find one or two grammatical errors but you get so immersed in the story they are easily overlooked. Can't wait to start book three
This book is incredible in its ability to capture your attention, and keep you in thrilled in the story. it starts out with a young girl, who is quite sick, and a magician, who is hired to heal her. From there, it reaches. Incredible heights of mystery suspense, and a lot of action. It is highly recommended that you read this book and the others that come after.
The Five-Petal Knot follows Clara whom we met in the first book of The Witching World Series.Clara is at the castle with two wizards and Marcelo and with strange happenings and castles not being what they seem, and with something dark approaching, I didn't want to put this book down. I really like this series, its unique and very well written. I can't wait to start the next one!
This second book of the series was awesome. Magical creatures are introduced to us. With emotional ups and downs and plot twists and turns, our heros find themselves and each other.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters definitely leap off of the pages, and I'm enjoying getting to see how Clara evolves over time. I would recommend this book to fans of YA fantasy, witches/witchcraft and adventure.
This book was not like any book on magic that I read. This story was outstanding! I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book!!! Thank you for a great story and a great ending.
Clara is something else and she goes thru a lot in this book. We see merpeople, dwarves, elves, and other fantastical creatures. We find out new things about Marcelo too.
It has been awhile since I've read something so engrossing! Couldn't put this down! Can't wait to read the next book! Characters are well developed. Story left me wanting more.
This series is just getting better and better with each book. Marcelo & Clara's bond is growing stronger. Her abilities are getting stronger. And the fight against dark magic begins with it's triumphs and loses. I received this book while free on a retailer. I'm freely giving an honest review.
This story just keeps getting better. I love Clara and Marcello, Mordecai and Sir Lancelot, and am intrigued by the mermaids. The next book is called the Merqueen. I can hardly wait to dive in.
As usual something I would not have any problem reading to my grandkids. I do enjoy the fact that the love interests are not so young. Early 20s. This is very well written.
Just as much fun to read as book 1 Magic Awakens. The story continues to capture the imagination. The characters are just wonderful as they develop. Looking forward to reading the next.
