The theory behind Writing Workshop is one that I can intellectually support, however, I prefer a more structured approach when I am learning how to teach a new way. I feel totally overwhelmed. I am hopeful that the following 4 weeks of peer coaching can help my writing instruction, because this book didn't help much at all.

I have loved this author for a long time, and I love her even more now. This book is super helpful with its highly specific language, describing how to implement the writing workshop in your very classroom. If you have ever considered trying to run a writing workshop, I highly recommend this book as a place to begin. You will not regret it.

I'm not an enormous Lucy fan, but this book was clear, concise, and powerful. This is from the primary units of study, but I think my students would have benefitted from me reading this even as a 4th grade teacher.

This book nicely goes over the different aspects of teaching writing. It discusses ways to help expand a child's writing, how to work with students who are not participating in writer's workshop, what god structures of mini lessons look like, different types of student conferences, etc.
