In Eric's house there were too many elephants—in the living room, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, even in his bedroom! The elephants take up a lot of space, but Eric loves every one of them. So when his mom says they have to go, Eric comes up with a clever solution to a very BIG problem.
Ursula Dubosarsky is an award-winning author of numerous books for children and young adults. About The Golden Day, her first book with Candlewick Press, she says, "The little girls watch, wonder, respond, change, and grow — and then their childhood is gone, forever. This element of the story, I suppose, is at least partly autobiographical. But, as I say — all of our teachers come home safe and sound in the end." Ursula Dubosarsky lives in Australia.
"خانهای پر از فیل" که نشر کانون پرورش فکری کودکان و نوجوانان اون رو منتشر کرده. در سومین تلاش، بالاخره یه کتاب نسبتا خوب و بامزه پیدا کردم و حالا میتونم بخوابم =)))
I love this book so much. It's just delightful, like you've stepped into a child's imagination. It's fun to read, with a wonderful rhythm and dance to the words. It's simple, silly, and it never fails to charms young children.
Of course, my favourite thing to do when re-reading this book to my Kinders is to replace key words with completely wrong ones, because there's nothing kids love more than correcting grown-ups.
"Too Many Elephants in this House" by Ursula Dubosarsky - one of my favourites in my collection!
Another entertaining and fun read from Dubosarsky who shines in her role as an author continually. This one is involving elephants and how can you go wrong with a house filled with elephants? Despite the ridiculous plot the story is charming enough and another nice little picture book.
Not to copy another reviewer, but I definitely good a Seuss feeling when reading this book. The illustrations were in the same style and the subject of the story reminded me a lot of the Seuss classic story, "The Cat in the Hat." This book was very fun to read and would be great as a read aloud in class. I would like to check out more from this author because I think this would be a favorite in the class room!
I thought this book was a lot of fun. I would buy it for young relatives because of how fun it is. A bit of surrealism is a good thing to have in early childhood I think. Not so much political/social commentary here (unless you want to analyse the way mothers are frequently portrayed as the arch enemy of the imaginative and playful child) but good, clean fun. And anything with elephants is quite an attractive read don't you think?
It is a good story to use to discuss creative thinking and problem solving. Stop reading before the book's solution and encourage children to come up with a range of ways to solve the problem of having too many elephants in the house!
A clever and fun concept, written by Dubosarsky with no words wasted, as all good picture books should be. Expertly and joyfully illustrated by the talented Andrew Joyner. Colour, fun, an imaginative idea to think about and talk about with children. A very good picture book.
