First we get a couple of fill-in issues by Cullen Bunn. The first one sets up a Dark Trinity which was OK, although Lex Luther's characterization felt way off from how he's being portrayed in the other Superman books, here he's back to being a maniacal villain who hates aliens. Then we get a pointless Superman Reborn issue that's just confusing and doesn't add anything to the rest of that story. Basically DC just needed some filler for that month.

Then Francis Manapul comes back for a three issue arc that I quite enjoyed. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman get called to the Watchtower where aliens have taken over the members of the JL. Now they have to get to the bottom of what happened and stop the damaged base from crashing to the Earth and spreading the infection. The art is gorgeous. I love how Manapul pays homage to Will Eisner and incorporates the arc titles into the art.

This was so good omg!

We see the beginning of a dark trinity with Circe, Ra's and Lex and whatever has brought them together and then a story with Superman revealing to Bruce and Diana about Mr Oz and the silent hints of Dr Manhattan's manipulation and I freaking love the way its shown and like how the trinity trust each other more than anything!

And then a story in which we see the JL being attacked and overtaken by some beings called "The perfect" and who is this mysterious "Traveller" who has brought them here and the challenges of it all and also the dark twist here and maybe they aren't the bad guys and its the classic.. the watch tower is falling and all and how the trinity have to save their friends and I love how it shows the camaraderie between the league and its awesome! Plus that moment between Bruce and Barry and later on as he realizes his mortality was kinda awesome <3

One of the best volumes in the rebirth era and its big, bombastic and filled with Manapaul's art and goodness so definitely recommending this one!

A poorly assembled collection of mismatched stories, it has no flow for the first two issues, but settles into something somewhat worth your time by the final storyline. The core three mostly look great, and it’s their chemistry, plus Manapul’s art, which brings any semblance of quality to the rockiness.

this was a really good volume. The first two issues are clearly setting up for something else which makes me question why the creative team didn't include that at the end of the issues to be a setup but oh well. The art is still stunning in this volume. I love the trinity in general.

[Read as single issues]
Collecting some one-and-done issues as well as the titular Dead Space arc, the second volume of Trinity isn't quite as focused as the first, but it's darn pretty to look at.

We open with an issue that actually teases the next arc by Rob Williams; the idea of having an evil Trinity to combat the heroic one is good, but they don't last long enough to really have an impact. Then there's a Superman Reborn tie-in issue which is decent enough, showing how the Trinity deal with the fact that Superman's changed (again), but this again feels like filler.

Dead Space itself is a bit too complicated for the three issues that it encompasses, but it lets Francis Manapul lose on the entire Justice League so it looks phenomenal. This could have done with an additional issue to flesh out the fairly generic villains.

Good fun, but a bit uneven.

This book collects issues 7-11 of Trinity, the comic featuring Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

Issue 7 doesn't feature our heroes at all but rather some of their most noted villains: Ra's al Ghul, Circe and Lex Luthor they meet somewhere and talk and set up a story several issues down the line.

Issue 8 is a one-shot in the aftermath of Superman: Rebirth that is a very talky story between our heroes.

The final three issues find them on the Watchtower where mind-controlling aliens have taken over the other Justice Leaguers and another who was carrying them says the only solution is to destroy his ship and the Watchtower. This story's not bad. It's not particularly original, but it does have one interesting twist and a couple good moments.

Overall, a somewhat messy and mediocre book with some decent artwork.

This felt like a horror comic with the backdrop of a superhero story. Which actually worked pretty well.

The first two stories are stand alones, and were pretty entertaining. The great thing about this book is the art. If it's not Manapul (more on him a bit later) then its great artists like Clay Mann, who really bring their A game to the book. And for good reason, this is pretty much a Justice League book for all intents and purposes.

But the majority of the book consists of the "Dead Space" story. Which, as I mentioned previously, has a lot of horror story type undertones in it. It has to do with the JL being infected by space parasites, and the choice of whether to destroy the JL Watchtower (and their infected friends within it) or to try and somehow cure them all while the Watchtower is rapidly falling into Earth's orbit. To add to this fiasco a mysterious cyborg tells them that all hope is lost and the only thing to do is to destroy the space station. It really impressed me that Manapul handled.... well everything in this book. He writes, draws, inks, and colors, and man, the art is fantastic. I really enjoy seeing anything this guy puts out art wise. Its a visual treat.

The story is well paced and interesting as well. Good to see Manapul growing in all aspects.

An entertaining read, with good drama and damn good art. Recommended for JL fans.

Volume 2 is a little all over the place and Manapul, who is probably my favorite artist working in comics right now, has such a unique style that it's jarring when other artists have to colaborate with him as they did in this collection. The peaks of this collection, like the staggering art that opens the Dead Space story line, are still incredible but I'd be lying if I said there weren't valley's too.

How many times is the Satellite going to crash on the earth? Maybe they should just build a Hall of Justice or a base on the moon?

A little step back. 3.5.

World: The art for this series has been so far fantastic. I love Manapul and the framing that he does. It's so heroic I love it. The world building here is also very solid. The dark Trinity is awesome and really builds towards something that will be fun. The prices of the world used for the Watchtower is also good giving us a larger grander sense that these three fit into the greater post Rebirth DCU. Good stuff.

Story: The dark Trinity issue was great, interesting banter and wonderful art, I look forward for more of this trio. The Reborn tie in was alright but didn't really do much but set up for Oz. The splash page of all the versions of the Trinity was great though. The Dead Space story was solid, it was not super creative or memorable but it was fun with great art. Each member acted like they were supposed to and tell story with all the cameos was fun.

Characters: Little snippets of character development in the dark Trinity book, I still wanna see how they can fit in this new Lex as I want him to be consistent. The Trinity were great in Dead Space further informing their character and how they compliment each other and how different and the same they are. Solid small little moments of character work.

This series is fun. I like it. Especially the tone.

Onward to the next book!

Basic plot: We get hints as to shenanigans involving a dark trinity, then our trinity helps save the Justice League from an alien threat.

I love the teases about plots to come, but I am so darned curious about where they are going! I did enjoy the story about the alien infection of the Watchtower, it made use of the intelligence of the characters and their true, helpful nature. There were some really cool splash panels in there that gave a real boost to the action.

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman... an unlikely friendship that packs a punch. These are all characters who take their gifts and their talents and use them for the good of others and the protection of innocents--but they all do it in very different ways. The end result is a partnership that's both strange, but also strangely perfect. The respect and camaraderie that come from these three characters practically leaps off the page, and the stories in this particular volume gave us, not only that, but some pretty awesome action, too. I'm going to focus on the main story arc ("Dead Space"), but I want to touch briefly on the other two tales--Superman confiding in Batman and Wonder Woman about the "New 52" version of himself in his dreams and how that reality and life is being lost. (Not that he completely understands that's what's going on, but still....) It actually made me feel sorry for New 52 Superman... for a moment, at least. (Sorry, I just really couldn't stand that take on the Man of Steel.) I liked how this story continue to open up the idea of other realities, not just for Superman, but for all of the DC characters, as that's something that obviously is playing a big role in the Rebirth arc as a whole, across titles. This tie-in was nicely done, and just continues to increase my curiosity about how it's all going to come together. The other story--about Lex Luthor, Circe, and Ra's al Ghul finding some sort of ancient power destined for the three of them was also interesting. An "evil trinity," as opposed to the "dark trinity" introduced through "Red Hood and the Outlaws." (I feel like I could spend a lot of time comparing and contrasting these three different "trinities" with the characters and their motivations, but this doesn't feel like the time or place.... but I am very excited that this comic does provide me the diving board to start doing that, if I want.) I'm curious to see where that will go, too. But the best story was obviously "Dead Space," as Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman had to fight to save the Watch Tower and the Justice League from a mysterious alien virus--which turned out to not be a virus at all, but an innocent species begging for help. A nice twist that I saw coming, but it was still enjoyable because it made the plot a bit more layered. The three of them working together and refusing to give up on their friends was done in a way that any fan of these three would enjoy. Plus, we actually got quite a bit of Flash and his super-optimism, too (which meant also a few laughs). All in all, this is the perfect comic book adventure, and I'm eager to read the next volume.

Collects Trinity issues 7-11.

This collection starts with a “Dark Trinity” of Lex Luthor, Ra’s Al Ghul, and Circe. They are drawn to Pandora’s Pits which spew forth a terrible monster, forcing the three to work together.

In the next issue, Clark talks with Diana and Bruce. Clark has nightmares where he is battling himself and only one Superman will survive. Bruce scoffs that it’s just his nerves but Diana believes him and together they’ll wonder what has changed in the world they live in. No doubt, this is also a continuing storyline.

The last three issues have a space adventure! Diana, Clark, and Bruce are teleported suddenly from near Smallville to the Watchtower. The tower itself and The Green Lanterns have been infected with an alien virus and Cyborg’s arms and legs have been ripped off and he’s dying. Diana, Clark, and Bruce must work together to save their friends. The virus looks like a monstrous head over the head of the infected.

This was an entertaining collection. I really enjoyed Manapul’s art in the last three issues and he also pulled a little twist at the end. I think the two first issues are set-up for future stories. But it was great to see Lex, Ra’s, and Circe together. They have such different motivations so I’m sure they’ll create lots of problems to our heroes.

The last story had also some small uplifting moments, reminding me why I read these stories in the first place. Looking forward to the next ones.

This collection is very disjointed. The first issue sets up an interesting parallel in a dark trinity of Lex, Ras and Circe, but then the plot is immediately jettisoned to return to the actual trinity, who spend an entire issue talking about one of Superman's dreams. Really.
Fortunately the main story in the collection, about the Trinity battling a compromised Justice League on a falling Watchtower space station, makes for some exciting reading, even if it isn't the most coherently plotted story you'll read. All three get moments to shine, although Batman's side story spends a lot of time treading water (he explains what he's trying to do in the big at least once an issue). The other members of the League show up but, aside from Flash, they don't really do much besides be victims. The conflicting alien species story tries to throw a curveball, and succeeds to a minor extent. The art is good throughout, which helps a lot.
It's a step up from the first volume of the series, but still not something particularly special to search out.

Coming off of Mongul's nightmare, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are coping slowly, but there is no time to waste as a boom tube summons them to the Watchtower. What's happening? The Watchtower, has been knocked out of orbit, is plummeting to Earth, and has been invaded by an alien virus. Only their determination and teamwork will help them to overcome.
Two other stories here: 1) A story covering the epilogue and aftermath of the "Superman Reborn" storyline. AND 2) A strange team up between Lex Luthor, Ra's Al Ghul, and Circe, who discover a very odd power in the discovered "Pandora Pits". I wonder where that story will lead...

Another title seemingly chewed up and spit out, but reasonably decent during its run. Recommend, kind of.

It doesn't seem like Manapul really knows what to do with Trinity. The first volume wasn't super great and this one is just a mess. We get a story about the trinities' greatest villains fighting a ridiculous looking monster with one boob, then we get an entire issue of the trinity standing around and talking about dreams (please, no more lame dream plots), and we finish it up with what is essentially a Justice League story that is so pointless and cliche' that I was convinced that they were in yet another dream.
There have been a lot of Rebirth cancellations lately, and I wouldn't be surprised if this series joins them soon.

Trinity vol 2

Vol 2 showed more of the trinity working together both as a trio and as a part of the larger justice league. It showed individual strengths and weaknesses and how they are better together.

That said, the story did not really grip me the way it did in Vol 1, but it is still a decent read. Most of the time they were working alone and mostly in their heads, fighting a forgettable enemy. I would have wished to see more of the three baddie equivalents to the trinity but I assume those are part of a larger story in future.

Also, the art is gorgeous and each cover had me pausing to admire it.

I liked this a lot more than I expected to. While the book still has "DC" issues (lack of exposition and too much going on from other books) but I was entertained. This was a solid action adventure that shows how the Trinity can work to overcome a big threat. Firs Cullen Bunn gives us a very cool meeting of the villainous minds which hopefully leads to something cool. Then a somewhat confusing portion of Superman's new status quo but then Francis Manapul tells a cool alien story. Its not going to go down in history but it was fun. The art was very good throughout especially Manapuls. Overall, a surprisingly good time.

I didn't care for that Poison Ivy twist in Volume 1 so I wasn't sure what to expect here. Dead Space turned out to be extremely satisfying. The narrative turns darker and there is ground work for something bigger on the rise. It's the kind of material that should've been written for the Justice League run.

It almost makes me want to go back to Volume 1 with a fresher look.

Thank you, Manapul.

WOW, I loved this volume !! The writing was great, the art was amazing. This volume follows the Trinity battling an intergalactic force of evil. Not the traditional evil that you’re thinking of, but interesting nonetheless. The dialogue was perfect to me & encapsulated the characters so well. We even get a sort of happy ending to the entity (Poison Ivy’s “child”) introduced in the first volume.

Overall, a must-have for my collection. I can see myself reading it again & again!

This was fine, but nothing great. There are a pair of one-offs at the beginning (the first setting up a dark trinity of Lex Luthor, Ra’s al-Ghul, and Circe, the second a coda to Superman: Reborn), then a quick storyline in which Superman, the Batman, and Wonder Woman save a bunch of aliens and the Justice League Watchtower. Like I said, they were all fine. I liked that the White Mercy from the first arc is still a thing, but Manapul doesn’t really do much with her yet.

Nice art overall, but the story in the first part of the book (2 issues I think) is filler and goes nowhere at all, as the payoff is presumably elsewhere ?
The last three issues are fairly ho-hum Watchtower in peril stuff that we've seen several times before, though it made me smile several times.
Not bad, but considering the talent involved it feels like it should be so much better.

Another Excellent, Beautiful Book

Most of Trinity: Dead Space is a story about an invasion of the Watchtower, although there is some obvious setup for another story involving Lex Luthor, Ra's Al Ghul and Circe. The book is well written and features beautiful artwork. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Really quite poor sadly.

A completely forgettable story with minimal consequences. The writing not only holds your hand throughout the story, but grips it so tightly it's unnatural. The only reason this book is two starts and not one, is the artwork.

Other than that, I see no reason anyone should pick this up.

Not as interesting as the last volume. Trinity, Vol. 2 involves an alien parasite infecting the Justice League. The volume begins with Luthor, Ra's al Ghul, and Circe teaming up as an antagonistic Trinity. The story didn't feel as compelling as it should. Still, it was okay. We'll see if the next volume picks up.

First issue is a gathering of three big bads and I liked it! (even though there's a challenge in it which seems solved in 6 seconds) And the second issue is very confusing and I didn't like it!

But I did like the in and out 3 issue arc at the end of this with aliens and such. Also the art is pretty.
