More like a pamphlet

This exceedingly light treatise on the final battle of the war is under 50 pages and can be read in about an hour. Accordingly, it is scant of analysis, details, maps. The writing style is simplistic, almost like a children's book. If all you want is a brief and simple summary, this might meet your needs. But halfway serious students will be better off reading something more substantial and giving this a pass.

The Final Battle

The final major battle of the American Revolution is explored, with proper assessment of the role of the French in the victory. A good read and one that humanizes the battle and players.

A good reminder of US history!

Wish I'd had this "100" yrs ago when I was in school &/or studying for SAT or ACT exams! Probably useful for GED, too!

For me it was just a review of a part of our history, told in an easily read & understood manner (There were 2-3 typos I noticed, "the" instead of "they", but it didn't detract from the message. )

Mr. Freeman has several other of these historical books that are on my list to read! That's how much I enjoyed this quick review!

If you're like me & enjoyed history as well as reading fiction, or if you're currently studying it & need quick review, or if you're just curious about US Revolutionary War, take (probably) an hour or so & review! (Admittedly, it took me about 3 hrs, but I had to re-read some due to interruptions... definitely not Mr Freeman's fault!)

&, for those wondering about this review. NO, I didn't receive anything for it (but I'll happily take grocery store Qs for my favorite coffees, lol)!

Siege of Yorktown review

Fast paced written story telling of the end of the Revolutionary War. Minor typos in a few places, but provides interesting perspectives that are rarely covered. Overall, well worth the reading. The Revolutionary War is given scant coverage in many history classes. But it is a story well worth knowing. This book is a good intro to the end days of the American Revolutionary War. Highly recommended.

Really good synopsis of the battle. My husband and I both majored in history and had read many things about this battle. But it never really jelled in our heads until we actually went there several years ago. Being there, we could really see how everything worked together for the Patriot victory. This little book brought it back to life for me.

Easy read without too much military rhetoric

Easy read Gives a lot of history and looks at this important battle from a viewpoint that is easy to understand. The analysis at the end poses some interesting thoughts. The story about Alexander Hamilton is something I have never heard before. I hope it is used in the play about Hamilton

It was a brief synopsis, which would be good for younger readers. There were some misspelled words and a few grammatical mistakes, but overall, a good read.

Clear, concise narrative of events leading up to the battle and the Siege itself. It also covered the ramifications of the outcome and the possibilities if a different outcome occurred.

Short but detailed

I've read one other longer book about this event and it seemed that compared to that the author did a better job of detailing the naval battle between the French and British. Also other details added that I didnt know before made this book enjoyable.
