really liked this so far. this was so not what i was expecting, but jojo never is lol. cant wait to see more of johnny and zeppeli and cant wait for some Diego sksksks

People said this is Araki's best work. I base on this volume I'm not still sure to consider that. But I'm glad that he decide to remake the JoJo universe and create something new to it yet still very similar.

Año 1890, Estados Unidos. Aventureros de todas partes del mundo se reúnen para participar en la primera carrera a caballo de la historia a lo largo del continente norteamericano, la "Steel Ball Run". Johnny Joestar, un ex-jockey prodigio que perdió toda sensibilidad en la parte inferior de su cuerpo, ve una luz de esperanza cuando descubre por casualidad la habilidad de Gyro Zeppeli, y decide participar también en la carrera.
¡Comienza una batalla entre 3.852 participantes por el gran premio de 50 millones de dólares!
¡¡Me encantó este primer tomo!! Desde que leí la sinopsis me llamó mucho la atención. Cabe aclarar que esta parte transcurre en un universo alternativo diferente al de las anteriores. Sin embargo, Araki hace algunas referencias al universo original.
Estas referencias se hacen muy evidentes por medio de sus personajes. Sin embargo, los mismos son muy diferentes y siendo el nombre lo único en común.
Algo que me llamó mucho la atencion fue que Johnny Joestar (el jojo de turno) tiene un rol más de personaje secundario o co-protagonista a diferencia de las partes anteriores. Mientras que Gyro Zeppeli es quien resulta ser el protagonista.
Un personaje que me gustó mucho es Sandman: un indio que participa en el Steel Ball Run para ganar el premio y comprar las tierras de sus ancestros y así evitar que el hombre blanco se adueñe de ellas.
Otra cosa que también me llamó la atención fue que en ningún momento aparecieron los Stands. Si son fans de la franquicia sabrán de que hablo. En cambio se muestra la habilidad de Gyro Zeppeli y en forma de esferas que le permiten deformar la forma objetos y personas.

- right off the bat, I'm confused by everything
- the events are set in the US, but that's not the confusing part, it's that this main character we're introduced to is native american, and I thought he might be the new Jojo but maybe not?
- sir, are we resetting the Jojo series? it certainly feels like resetting
- Dio and Zeppeli...descendants? reincarnations? don't know, don't care. I welcome them back!

Due degli elemeti che odio di più in una storia di finzione sono: l'ambientazione nel Vecchio West e le corse, soprattutto di cavalli. Cercare di restare obiettiva e godermi la lettura nonostante questi due ostacoli sarà complicato, soprattutto visto che sono due elementi fondamentali della narrazione di Steel Ball Run.
Però io adoro Jojo e adoro Araki, che poche volte mi ha delusa, quindi eccoci qui. Di SBR ho sentito sempre parlare un gran bene ma cerco di tenere le aspettative basse, altrimenti finisco per essere delusa anche da una storia valida. Per ora posso dire che si vede che Araki ha ben sfruttato la possibilità di pubblicare a cadenza mensile, invece che settimanale. I capitoli hanno un respiro più ampio, sia a livello di sceneggiatura sia a livello di disegno. Questa settima parte è un trionfo di panorami vasti e non così desolati come ci si aspetterebbe, la rappresentazione della corsa di cavalli è a dir poco cinematografica e si spinge subito l'acceleratore su personaggi esagerati e ben definiti.
Per ora tutte le mie preferenze vanno a Diego Brando ma faccio un tifo sfegatato per Sandman, mentre aspetto di vedere Hot Pants e sapere di più su Lucy Steel. Johnny mi sembra interessante e con parecchio potenziale, mentre per ora J.Lo non mi ha preso granché. Ma è solo il primo volume, non mettiamo il carro davanti ai buoi, ho sedici volumi di tempo per affezionarmi e poi piangere sconsolata, quando Araki comincerà inevitabilmente a fare una delle sue carneficine, ops.

ok im like a third of the way through and i honestly thought it was boring as hell untill johnny got his stand now things are getting interesting but i'm still not completely sold. i really am enjoying now so theres the 4 star rating i guess. in conclusion, i am taking a huge L every day of my life.

В истории мы встретим знакомые имена для людей, знающих ДжоДжо: Абдул, Джонни (Джонатан) Джостар, Дио, Цеппели.
Но это уже не те персонажи, которых мы знали. 7 часть берёт начало с альтернативной вселенной, в которой мы наблюдаем, как Араки переосмыслил героев (кстати, вполне хорошо.)
"Steel Ball Run" можно читать отдельно от других частей "Невероятных Приключений ДжоДжо". Оно не имеет никаких связей с предыдущими работами автора.
Прочитав первый том, вы не поймёте, кто же является главным героем, а кто злодеем, но интерес не пропадает до конца тома.
Я не скажу, что это плохо - так мы понемногу узнаем всех героев, как характер, так и их замыслы.
Автор сумел раскрыть и показать историю ДжоДжо за одну главу, хоть я бы его и не назвал главным героем.
Персонажи поменялись кардинально.
Джайро Цеппели, который является альтернативной версией Уильяма Цеппели(1 часть), перестал быть мудрым, но не перестал быть рассудительным. Джонни Джостар, в первую очередь, перестал быть хорошим и честным человеком, но остался таким же упорным, как Джонатан Джостар из 1 части. По крайней мере его история про потерю ног показана не с лучшей стороны, где он выглядит, как лицемерный богач.

Рисунок Араки - один из самых необычных и интересных рисунков, для манги и аниме индустрии.
Для фанатов Бизарных Приключений обязательно к прочтению. А для читателя, который не знаком с ДжоДжо совсем, будет читаться не менее интересней, чем фанатам.

Este primer tomo de steel ball run me pareció bastante entretenido, he de decir que es un poco lento el inicio, la carrera tarda en empezar, sin embargo se nos introduce de muy buena manera a nuestros personajes principales, Johnny, Gyro, Diego y en si la carrera. Un inicio algo lento pero bien ya que esta historia es más larga que la anteriores partes y se enfoca mucho en el crecimiento de los personajes, por lo tanto para mí sí fue una decisión correcta primero presentarnos los personajes, el concepto y ya después ahora si iniciar la carrera. Le pondría a este tomo un 7.5 (ojo) este tomo no la historia completa, ya que no hay medias estrellas ni nada aqui pondré 4 que es lo que más se acerca. Les recomiendo mucho iniciar esta maravillosa historia yo leo la versión en español de panini manga pero también el manga esta traducido en digital.

A paraplegic horse jockey and a cowboy from Naples with steel balls go on a cross country race for millions of dollars only to find themselves on a scavenger hunt for the scattered body parts of Jesus Christ against the flamboyant president of the United States.
It doesn’t sound like it should make any sense, but it DOES.
Discover friendship, family legacy, what it means to be a person, and TRUE POWER through the Fibonacci spiral, espresso cups made out of hair, and napkins. I said what I said.
This is the best Jojo’s Arc.

Una parte increíble, la historia, los personajes y las nuevas habilidades son de las mejores de toda la saga hasta ahora. El autor aprovecho muy bien esta especie de reboot de la saga para crear otro universo de forma exquisita.
Lo mejor de toda la saga se mantiene aquí, como los poderes "realistas" y con fundamento, es decir, superpoderes que se basan en algún factor científico real o que tienen una base en su funcionamiento que es explotada por el usuario de dicho poder para alcanzar su limite en cada pelea.
Una parte increíble, la historia, los personajes y las nuevas habilidades son de las mejores de toda la saga hasta ahora. El autor aprovecho muy bien esta especie de reboot de la saga para crear otro universo de forma exquisita.

REVIEW FOR THE WHOLE MANGA
JoJo is an exhibition of Araki's creativity. It's unrestrained by any norms and chooses to be bizarre at every turn.
The art is phenomenal. The magic system is insane. The characters are wacky. There's nothing else like it.
The story is basically a 19th century Rat Race, where contestants race across America for a cash prize of millions. It soon evolves beyond that by introducing amazing villains with strange philosophical plans, becoming highly unpredictable.
Definitely the best JoJo part.

Peak fiction, massima espressione del genio di Araki. Anzi, avrebbe senso chiedersi si sia stato davvero Araki ad aver scritto questo capolavoro. Almeno non l'Araki delle prime 6 serie.
Steel Ball Run non è un manga, è un miracolo.
(Tranne per qualche metafora, qualche metafora di pessimo gusto stilistico.

Perchè paragonare il destino ad una palla da tennis che cade sulla rete? Cos'è sta roba? David Foster Wallace?)

The first volume of this edition finally arrived last month to my country and since this is not only my favorite JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part but also one of my favortie stories ever I needed to get it for my physical collection. I love the slow pacing for the new characters introduction and still amazes me how a static horse race can get me so excited and it hasn't even started diving into its most important topics and messages.

Una gran introducción a esta parte y también a JoJo's en general, el dibujo está como siempre increíble y es bastante emocionante. Gyro es más protagónico que Johnny ya que este último es una inserción de la audiencia, algo que no pasaba desde, diría yo, Jonathan en Phantom Blood. En cada parte un secundario introduce al JoJo, acá es al revés y se vuelve curioso y distintivo.

This is the peak of storytelling. This amazing piece of art has the best sum of characters I have ever read in any entertainment medium. Araki is a God.

Se sabe que es la obra más elevada de Araki. Se me hizo lento se leer, pero en defensa es primer tomo que leo en físico, eso puede afectar. Pero pero pero Gyro es un personaje bacan.
