Everyone warned me dating him was the wrong decision. But I did it anyway.
Now that it's been three months I'm finally in a good place. I haven't started dating just yet but I know that will happen in time. Finally, I don't think about Ryker anymore.
But when I have a dream about Zeke, a very inappropriate one, I start to wonder things I shouldn't.
And I start to look at him in a way I never have before...

Pfffff
I loved this book! It was the perfect ending. It wasn't what I expected at all but I think that's why I loved it so much. It looks like there will be a book 4 but I'm hoping it's about one of the friends because I don't want Rae's HEA tampered with.
This is one fantastic series and it keeps getting better as you read it. This is the 3rd book in the series. Rae is so done with dating Ryker. At the start of the book, we find out that Ryker's father had passed away. Rae attends the funeral because she was close with Ryker’s father which leads to Ryker’s surprise to her being there. He tries to talk to her but she just says “Sorry for your loss” and walks away. Which is sad but all their relationship was seemed to be about sex. Ryker blew his chance. Rae's brother, Rex is proving to be something of a sexual guide for Rae’s friend Kayden. She is a quiet girl and is someone who doesn’t dressed to attract attention. Thing is, she is in love with Rex and is trying to get his attention. They start seeing each other on the down low without their friends knowing and things seem ok until Rae almost catches them in the act then Rex wants to break things off. When he does , Kayden get super depressed and starts sleeping around to prove something to Rex..what I have no clue but in the meantime, we see Rex start to get a clue. What an idiot, he needed to have gotten a clue a lot sooner. Then we have Zeke who is Rex's best friend since they were very little, he is in love with Rae. He starts to see someone else. Rex knows his sister is in love with Zeke and wonders if he should tell Zeke and finally opens his mouth and lets him know how Rae feels about him . Zeke is still in love with Rae although now he's in a relationship with someone—what a tangled web. Will Rae & Zeke be able to make a relationship when he is seeing someone else, Will Zeke end his other relationship for Rae? Will Rex & Kayden be able to find their way back to each other after all that has happened? OR (gasp) Or will Rae go back to Ryker??
There is so much angst, passion, anger, loss, betrayal, 2nd chances and love in this book. I loved the cast of characters and look forward to book 4 in this series to find out what happens next.
My rating: 4.7 stars **** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
I love Rae and Zeke and their journey towards love but it was a long ride, maybe a little to long for me. That's why it's 4,5 stars, almost 5. The writing style is easygoing and it makes me not want lo leave the world of this book. There is lots of dialogues and no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings so I enjoyed to the fullest. I like how the author describes the characters with all their emotions and faults, it makes them human to me. One of the best things in this story is that you get a secondary love story between two other characters. This is the third book in this series and it's so worth the read. If you want to read I recommend you start with the first. This is a wonderful story with a bonus story within it.
The book took a direction that I expecting at all but I think that's why I loved it so much. This group of people have a place in my heart I care about these people. I feel their happiness and sorrows. This book picks up 3 months after Rae and Ryker's breakup. Rae is slowly picking herself up and finally able to let go of him.Only to fall for another one of her brother's friend.Though Ryker is no longer Rex's friend after all the breakup stuff. Zeek just keep checking all the boxes. However I want them to have a chemistry stronger than the one she had with Ryker and that was what i am waiting for. But what I really am glad about is that Rex finally woke up about Kayden. I was pleased how this one ended and know that the next book is probably going to mess with the balance.
This series kept popping up in my Facebook Timeline, so I decided to give it an try and I'm so glad I did. I instantly fell in love with the series and read all three books in 2 days. Rae, Rex and their friends are highly entertaining. I like the fact that the Rae, Jessie, and Kayden own the fact that they are strong, confident women. That doesn't mean they don't get down from time to time. They do, but they don't wallow in self pity. And Rex and Zeke are the perfect Alpha-males. They are very protective of their friends and family without it being over the top.
This is my first time reading a series by E.L. Todd, and though I love the first three books, I'm a little hesitant about continuing the series. I saw where her Forever and Ever series is 47 books long. At $4.99 a book that's expensive. I hope the Ray series isn't as long.
I did receive Ray of Hope as a free ARC Copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 3rd book in the series.
Rae is done with dating Ryker. At the beginning of the book, we find out that Ryker's father had passed away. As Rae was very close with him she attends the funeral. Ryker is very surprised to see her. Ryker tries to talk with her but she just tells him so sorry for your loss. Which was a good move on her part. All they had in the relationship is sex. Sex, sex and more sex. He never opened up to her at all. I think he is hiding something from her.
Rae's brother, Rex is actually a sex guide to one of their friends, Kayden. Kayden works in the library and is a mousy quite girl. She seems like she would be a knock out and would be able to get any guy she wants. However, she's in to Rex. She tells Rex that she isn't that experienced in dating or being with men and she wants him to teach her. However, Kayden does like Rex. They are seeing each other without the other friends knowing. Rae catches them but they both make up something so she doesn't suspect anything. Rex thinks the best thing to do is break things off with Kayden, as he doesn't want just a sex relationship. Once he breaks things off Kayden goes into a downward spiral. Kayden is sleeping around with most of the men in Seattle, one night at a time to get Rex out of her system. Kayden is still in love with Rex. Rex does have feelings for Kayden but doesn't know what to do about these feelings.
Zeke who is Rex's best friend since they were 5 is in love with Rae. Zeke starts seeing someone also. Rex tells Zeke that Rae is in love with him and thinks about him all the time. Zeke is still in love with Rae although now he's in a relationship with someone, that he thought could take her place. Zeke seems to be in love with her but, he does have strong feelings for Rae.
Will Rae & Zeke be able to make a relationship into something more? Will Rex & Kayden be able to keep their relationship a secret? Will Zeke break up with the girlfriend to be with Rae finally? Or will Rae go back to Ryker??
I am utterly confused. Who am i supposed to root for? Is it Ryker, the bad boy and awesome lover or is it Zeke, the dude that has been in love with his best friend? I am rooting for Ryker because their chemistry is too strong to ignore. I will not settle for Zeke. I did not like this book. I did not like the fact that Rae got over Ryker in three months and then turns around and falls in love with Zeke. It doesn’t make sense to me. Zeke had a good relationship with Rochelle and he practically throws it away because Rae had sexual dreams about him. I loved book one and two and I just wished that Ryker wasn’t the main hero because now he is not even in the book for more than one page. Their relationship was too intense to just write it off as a fling. I don’t feel the chemistry between Zeke and Rae because the author did not write it that way. Their relationship feels totally platonic. The comedy is gone and I am just not feeling this relationship between Rae and Zeke.
The only relationship that makes sense is Kayden and Rex. I was glad that things worked out. I wish more time was spent on them because Zeke is boring to me. Bring back Ryker, dammit. This is not right. If the author would have left this book as the conclusion, I think it would have been better, but instead there is a 4th installment. Now I am depressed because, now, I have to wait. Why release 3 of the books and wait until a later date to release the 4th one.? If I did not love my hair so much, I would pull it out. ! Grrrrr.! I am dying of anticipation :(
** ARC kindly provided by the author for an honest review. ** 4.5 stars!
Can I say I have this huge smile on my face while reading it on my way to work? The feeling of disappointment left when I read it. Because, E.L. Todd, you did it great. I got it now, after reading it, everything makes sense.
I have to remind you that these books aren’t standalones. Well in that one, time passed by, and Rae is definitely standing on her own, thanks to her friends and family. I liked how the stories were kinda entwined and that one proved how all the stories collided for the best.
I don’t want to reveal much, but let’s just say that sometimes you need someone to make you realize all the things you can miss if you don’t care enough attention, of all the missed opportunities.
Because Rae and her tribe are in that situation, and altogether, and being all nosy like friends who really cared for each other, you know that everything isn’t going to be restful. Ray of Love was definitely more feeling oriented, focused on that part where all the main characters were most re evaluating their lives, with all these news information coming their way.
I really liked that one, even if their drove me a little crazy at times. All this mess of unsaid things and missed connections … but they all found a way! Great series, fun, sweet, genuine and endearing characters, I loved following their journey. And I definitely want more. And I'm on a binge read for sure!
The series is supposed to be a romantic comedy but I can’t say that’s the case for all the books, not all of them I found to have a comedy anywhere near it, book one for example. So why did I continue to read the series well honestly because I was on the ARC (advance readers copy) list. I read other books by E.L todd and I can tell you one thing she seem to follow the same format for her characters, they are youthful early 20’s and somehow live very soap opera lives.
Rea , oh Rea….she does what every girl should never do she falls not only the bad boy but her brothers best friend as well in one series. Like I said book 1-5 or Light – Heart focus on the relationship between Rea, Ryker and Zeke. While the characters were easy sometimes I found myself questioning their intelligence. While the books were good and I kept reading, You could easily tell what was going to happen before it happened. So the twists through that series really in fact were not really a twist but still written well enough that I still read on. But by the time you reach book 4 it goes from being on a good streak down to plop. Book 4 was just completely mind-boggling and not in a good way at all. The relationship that formed with Rea and Ryker was hot and steamy. But then Zeke happens and it fell flat for me. It just wasn’t there, you know what mean. That sparks. I didn’t feel it. I didn’t even feel it towards the end. I was so team Ryker and E.L. Todd was so set on Zeke and Rea.
There is a lot of back and fourths in these books, like all of them you’ll find it happening at least once in every book. Throughout the book you don’t find your usual run of the mill problems for young adult. Rea is scientist, Rex ( her brother also the comedic aire in the book) won the lotto and bought a crappy bowling alley, Ryker (guy number) was left his father’s company and is now Rea’s boss and Rex’s friend, Zeke (guy number 2) is a freaking doctor and Rex’s best friend, Kayden and Jessie are the best friends of Rea. So, i think that the summary doesn’t do this story justice but i guess that’s the point of reading a book. What we have here in this third installment is the evolution of Rae. and Ryker’s relationship once she admits how she feels. Mind you, she only shared how she felt to 1) be true to herself and 2) because she was certain that he felt the same. Everyone thought so. but i think that he’s just too scared and as a result, they’re dunzo.
We spend much of this book watching Rae get past her feelings for Ryker, and figure out what’s next for her. She learns about the way that Zeke felt about her for years and that makes a whole net path of complexity lay itself in front of her.
Add to that story line, we get to see things evolve for all the other characters. (well most). Zeke is in this great relationship with a girl name Rochelle and while they’ve moved fast, it seems like a great one. Even with how we know he feels/felt about Rae, he’s. still pushing forward and wants to take things to the next level. We hear him tell Rex about his plans to propose to Rochelle, and Rex still has his reservations since he knows that his friend can’t be over Rae so fast, but as a good friend, he knows he can’t step on toes here. So we watch that one play out.
Then there’s Rex and Kayden. We see what their friendship can evolve to, and friends with benefits becomes their thing. It’s not surprising at all knowing how we saw Kayden feel about Rex in the last book. He doesn’t pick up on that and really just think that he hits the jackpot. When he cuts things off though, we see this story take a depressing turn,
The only character that we don’t dive too deeply in with is Jessie and i’m not sure why. While she’s the fifth wheel here, she’s got all the potential in the world to have a great story line so i really. hope that’s coming soon.
This story takes us on a roller coaster of emotions – happy sad. Depressed, elated, romantic and ecstatic. All mixed with the right layers of naive/basic heat and passion. I can’t wait to see what comes next so i’m off to book 4.
I have to admit that even though I enjoyed this book more than the previous two, I'm not so sure that I'm happy with the way things turned out. Let me explain...
I love to see a heroine who is strong enough that she doesn't let herself die after a break-up, no matter how much she loves the guy she was with. That is what Rae is... a strong heroine who relies on her friends and shows she doesn't need a man to be happy. She was able to get over her heartbreak after the end of her relationship with Ryker and I was happy for that. BUT...she said he was the love of her life, her feelings for him were stronger than she had ever had before and she pictured a future with him...yet, it took her only three months to completely get over him and feel nothing once she saw him again...that didn't make sense to me...
She started to have romantic feelings for Zeke, her best friend since forever and although I love him, I'm not so sure that I pictured them together. I felt in the previous book that he was moving too quickly, and like Rex, I had a feeling he was on the rebound with Rochelle, but I don't know that I wanted him to break up with her.
I was glad to see Rex get his head out of his behind and acknowledge his feelings for Kayden. He was always so clueless when it came to her and seeing him get a dose of what he made her feel was very entertaining.
I was thinking this would be a 3 book series and I'm not sure how I feel to know there is at least one more book. I want to see the issues resolved, yet I have a feeling that we have not seen the last of Ryker. Just when Rae and Zeke seem to have 'found' each other, I sense that turmoil is still ahead.
I love Jessie. She is so open and not afraid to speak her mind. I want her to find her HEA.
It will be interesting to see what else is in store for this group.
SPOILERS! I think the author missed an opportunity to turn this series into a really good read. There were issues that could have been explored with the female lead character...Rae...with her mom's suicide and she could have gone into Ryker's past as well. I think that is truly what ruined the series for me. I felt Ryker was short changed in all of this. I am actually glad he did not end up with Rae...she was incredibly selfish and I was team Ryker all the way. Too much drama and manipulation with Zeke. The book just seemed like immature drama in between sex scenes. I actually skimmed through a lot of the sex because it quit being hot and began being repetitive. I am not a fan of these books at all. I did read five of them before reviewing...wish I didn't. I actually thought book five would unleash the deeper details...didn't happen. Don't get sucked into this nonsense...move on.
Damn, this series is excellent! Told from the perspective of brother and sister Rae and Rex as they each navigate their feelings for their two respective close friends, Zeke and Rae. (Zeke is Rex’s best friend, and Kayden is Rae’s). The group of friends featured in the series- Rae, Rex, Kayden, Zeke and Jessie - are such fun to read. The humor is brilliant throughout the story, yet the drama as Rex and Rae make their ways to Kayden and Zeke add just the right amount of tension. And woo doggie, the erotic scenes are hotter than hot! Fair warning, while the story arc in the book is a fairly complete one, it is part of a larger series and you do need to read the other two books to know the characters and history completely. And you will need to find out what happens next!
3´5 * Buena tercera parte!
Love this series so much and I can't wait till book 4 comes out.
Rae is such a kick ass heroine. She's strong and doesn't let much get her down. I love her and Zeke!!! I had to give them a big fist pump!!!!! I'm still curious about Ryker though and wonder if he will come back and try to redeem his stupidity in the next book.
Again my favorite person in this whole series is Rex! He truly is a imbecile but, I think I want to marry his dumb ass, lol. I love a goof ball and he's it in so many ways. I'm so happy to finally see him and Kayden actually together.
Jessie is a great supporting character too and I hope to see her with someone in the next book.
***ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review*** 4 stars for all 3 books in this series because it was such a fun ride. If you are looking for a very entertaining reading with lots of funny moments and spiced with hot scenes then you must read this! What I loved: the witty comebacks between Rae and her brother, the great chemistry between the characters and the fact that it made me wish I would have such crazy, sometimes embarassing, but always honest and loyal friends! Oh and that it was well written and easy for me to read since english is not my language. What I did not like : is that we never get to find out what Ryker`s issues were and that makes me feel bad for him.
Thanks E.L.Todd for your talent and for giving me the opportunity to enjoy your work.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...
POV: Dual POV (Rae and Rex)
Possible Spoilers:
This book starts three month later from the end of Ray of Hope and Rae is finally ready to move on. Unfortunately, Rae starts develop feelings for Zeke who is currently in a serious relationship. Rae does everything she can to overcome her feelings but nothing works.
Meanwhile, Rex decides to end his arrangement with Kayden before they start getting attached. However, Rex does more damage than good which leds Kayden down a dark path.
I love the relationships between all the characters and how much they love each other. I also loved seeing Ryker realize what he lost when pushed Rae away.
Book three in this series finds Rae struggling. Her struggles feel real and evoked real emotions in me. Her brother, Rex, has his own demons to wrestle with and those are written in such a way as to have a real ring of truth also. Ms. Todd's writing is amazingly seamless and invisible to the story. I mean that as the highest compliment. I care about these people. I feel their pain and joy, deeply. There are no beginnings and no endings, it seems to this series, currently at 5 books with the 6th due out in a few days. How will it all end? Happily for all, I hope, but judging by the real-life quality evoked here, I have my doubts. I'm in it until the end!
Honestly, reading these books felt like watching 5 seasons of the show Friends; except the characters and humor weren't as good.
The characters were all around 30ish, but pretty often their dialogue and thought process had me thinking they were in their early 20s. It had several moments where I was shaking my head at what was happening or being said, and thinking "Seriously?"
Rae was the main character and unfortunately I was not a fan. To me, she came off as a know-it-all who did no wrong. I actually liked Ryker more than any of them.
Overall it was just ok for me. It kept my attention, but I didn't love it like I hoped I would.
There's two many relationships going on in this book I'm only here for Ryder and Rae
This one was confusing it had too many relationships going on I'm here for Rae and Ryder's story not Rex and Kayden's story or Zekes and Rochelles . If Rae loves Ryder why does she all of a sudden have feeling for Zeke when he's in a good relationship .Is this a soap opera or a romance novel I'm disappointing in this book. The title of this book makes no sense . I'm going to read the next book because Ryder and Rae need to get back together and I could care less about the other relationships.
