Jenifer LeClair is the author of the award-winning Windjammer Mystery Series set on the coast of Maine and featuring homicide detective Brie Beaumont as the series protagonist and detective. "Rigged for Murder" and "Danger Sector" are the first two books in LeClair's gripping mystery series and are set aboard a historic windjammer and on the islands and coastal areas of Maine, where she has sailed since 1994. LeClair brings a remarkable authenticity to the remote and beautiful setting of her action/adventure mystery novels and has won Independent Publisher Awards for Best Regional Fiction for both "Rigged for Murder" in 2009 and "Danger Sector" in 2011. "Rigged for Murder" also won the 2009 RebeccasReads Written Art Award for Best Mystery/Thriller, and "Danger Sector" was a finalist in the 2011 Midwest Book Awards. Jenifer LeClair lives in Minnesoata, but has adopted Maine as her second home and spends time there every year researching, travelling the highways and byways, doing photography, and sailing to various destinations in the Gulf of Maine and beyond. Her adventures aboard the Maine windjammers have taken her from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to Gloucester, Massachusetts and Mystic, Connecticut and to dozens of islands and coastal villages in between. You can visit and write to author Jenifer LeClair on the web at www.windjammermysteries.com and watch for her new book, "Cold Coast," coming in July of 2013.
The last sail of the season certainly was full of new twists and turns and more excitement and intrigue. It was like a made-for-TV series that had you going right up to the end and definitely wanting for another season -- SOON, very soon. Jenifer LeClair is so good with her sailing terminology that you can almost feel the Maine Wind pulsing through the water as you're reading along. And, then there's George's cooking! Oh my. Loved the new characters and the storyline -- and talk about an exciting conclusion as Brie solved another thrilling mystery. What I wouldn't give for a ride-along on a Coast Guard RB-M.
I really do like this series and the characters. I enjoy visiting the islands around the coast of Maine and it helps that the setting is my own backyard. Though it is becoming somewhat repetitious. I feel bad for the poor people on these cruises that always have to endure some huge storm. Believe it or not, there are calm days here in Maine as well. I know it's supposed to add to the tension, but LeClair needs to mix it up a bit now and then.
Dead Astern is the first book that I have read in the series, and I can't wait to read the rest. The mystery takes place on a charter boat off the coast of Maine, where detective Brie Beaumont is serving as a second mate, while taking a break from her job in Minnesota. I loved the characters, the description of living on a charter boat, the food! and the mystery. Don't miss this great series.
This is the 5th of the Windjammer mystery series. It features a detective, Brie Beaumont, working aboard a Maine sailboat. When a man goes overboard, a series of twists and turns ensue as the story unfolds. Loved the characters, plot, and the interesting twists and turns! Ready for the next book!
A murder takes place aboard a Windjammer schooner sailing off the coast of Maine. Luckily, one of the crew is a reserve police officer. She has to try and determine who committed the murder, along with the challenges of sailing under rough weather.
I really enjoyed this series and can't wait until the next one. I'm from Minnesota so enjoyed a local author even though it was set in Maine. I'm going to Maine next month, so now I am really looking forward to it. Good mystery.
Easy reads but a very fun, romantic, mystery series of 5. Loved it taking place on an old windjammer around Main and islands I never knew existed. Another one coming out soon will take place on Lake Superior!
I have read several books in this mystery series as I love reading about the Maine coast. This was the best one yet. I love the characters and the descriptions of the meals cooked.
