3.75 Stars rounding up. A rather nice introductory account of haunted places in the USA. Admittedly, there are some typos and a lack of more information on certain hauntings, controversies connected to them, and investigations or how to learn more about the hauntings not even listing info on how to tour popular public places which now usually have websites. Also, there is absolutely no appendix or such and I felt like, while places were categorized in sections by region of the country, places in the same state weren't always kept together often times with a place in a different state or two coming in between. All in all, a decent introduction to the subject.
Disappointing, basic book with snippets of haunted house stories. Ultimately I find it inspiring: if I want a good book in this genre, apparently, I need to write it myself.
Haunted America is a hard to read book that is written in so many directions. It details haunted places or supposedly haunted places. Many of these places are either written in a dry matter of fact tone that states the facts, while others tell stories of the places yet not what actually makes them haunted. It builds up some interesting points, yet just ends without finishing it. The only part that keeps this from being a 1 star review is that some of the stories are interesting, they just need more.
I got this for Christmas. It is ok, kind of like a guide book to a few haunted places across America. But honestly, it is boring. It would be nice to have Photos of each place. I finished it because it was a gift, but it isn't something that is a fast or easy read. But, it is a decently informative book, just not something I enjoyed reading. It could use more formatting so each place starts on its own page so you can easily look up the next place, instead of just a heading. It is ok.
This was a gift to me from a friend that knows I love haunted things... and this book gave me that. It is a fairly basic run down of places that are haunted in America. I enjoyed the read and marked some 'to do' or witness places. This would be a fun start up book for those getting into hauntings and a nice reminder for those of us in hobby for a while
Decent! Basic highlights of some well known haunted places around the United States. Wishing this book gave more pointers on what tours to take and so on. But if you want to dive deeper into the stories mentioned in the book, Google will be your best friend.
Mostly read through this to help give me ideas/inspiration on a book I'm writing.
A fairly well researched look into the histories of various haunted locations across the country, 'Haunted America' separates fact from fiction, and relays a few significant accounts of witnessed activity in each area. I'd recommend for anyone with a keen interest in the paranormal, such as myself.
Wonderful read!! Very informative and makes you want to visit some sites!! Although my book say 2017 on inside cover some place no longer exists or changed names and are unable to find!!
This book was good! I enjoyed reading about places I have visited! It was fun to read about shows I have seen on t.v.! It's fun to read about haunted places!
Easy to read but misses out on so very many sites that should be in a book about haunted homes or businesses. Apparently I’m going to have to write these stories myself.
