I was born the youngest princess of a tiny country in the Alps, but I've never been any good at being a princess. I'm shy and bookish, and I don't know how to flirt. The only man I'm comfortable around is my best friend, Alex. I used to have a crush on him, but I don't anymore.
I absolutely don't.
Right now, I'm interested in a handsome French millionaire, but I need Alex to help me learn how to be attractive to men. He agrees because he's my friend, but he doesn't seem happy about it.
And I need to remember that Alex is just giving me lessons. He isn't the man I'm trying to win.
Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English, reads any book she can get her hands on, and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.
I’m not a huge fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, but I loved Alex and Lisette’s story.
Lisette was introverted, socially shy, and reluctant to look outside what her life currently was. When she had the opportunity to utilize her best friend’s help to gain the attention of another man, she struck gold. Watching it all unfold was fun, sweet and had me smiling.
Even though we don’t get Alex’s point of view, it was obvious what he was feeling and his reasoning behind most of what he did. This author has a true talent of writing the hero in a way that his motivations are detected without being blatant, leaving enough uncertainty that I can imagine whatever I wish. That always adds to the deliciousness of the story.
This series satisfies my bone deep love of romance. So far, each one has been light, low angst, sweet but steamy with something about them to throw me back into the feelings I used to have when I first fell in love with the genre. They feel like coming home.
Henry is next and the timing is perfect as it’s a Christmas story!
This is a delightful, light-hearted, heart-warming, friends to lovers romantic comedy novella (113 pages) that is brilliant for escaping into to brighten up your day! Whilst this is the third novel in the series, you don't have to have read the others to appreciate and enjoy this one but you may be tempted to do so after reading this one - I certainly am!
Lisette Rothman is the youngest of four, she's shy, dislikes being the centre of attention and this is all made worse by the fact that she's also a Princess of a small alpine principality so has royal duties to perform. Her best friend and supporter throughout her life has been Alex, the handsome son of one of the family's employees. He's also brilliant at cheering her up and giving her confidence but has made it very clear that he's only a friend after she revealed a secret crush on him when she was sixteen. Now her Mum, the Queen, is trying to matchmake and has brought along Stefan, the son of a wealthy French couple. Lisette asks Alex for advice on how to attract a man and, reluctantly, Alex agrees to help her. The only trouble is, the only man Lisette really wants to attract is Alex and, secretly, Alex really wants her for himself. This sets the scene for a fun romance, with plenty of twists and comedic events to keep the reader engaged. The sparks between the two are vivid but as they strive to avoid spoiling their friendship love just has to keep throwing spanners in the works. The story is told from the point of view of Lisette and is a brilliant, endearing royal romance.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and chose to read it. This is my honest review.
ARC Review: A Princess in Waiting (Rothman Royals) by Noelle Adams
With A Princess In Waiting, Noelle Adams flexes some serious comedic muscle. Lisette is awkward, unsure and sweet. Not necessarily the conventional picture of a princess, but a totally irresistible fit for a heart stealer. Alex is the man of her heart. Best friend, childhood crush and love tutor are all roles he has played in her life, but could the clueless princess be missing out on the man of her dreams? I love to read authors who are always finding new directions to explore and Noelle Adams is always growing. From angst to inspirational and comedic, light hearted fair, I couldn't help but fall for A Princess in Waiting.
Lisette has always loved her best friend Alex, but as she thinks that he doesn't like her that way, never tries to pursue him. When her mother talks her into considering a relationship with the millionaire son of a family friend, she decides to give it a try but first she needs someone to teach her how to flirt, and Alex is the one to help her. As they go on with the lessons the feelings they always had for each other but kept secret for a lot of reasons becomes more hard to ignore and they end up getting together. Now they have to find a solution that will make it possible for them to be together for real and with the aproval of her family, after the truth of their acquaintaince is exposed. Cute romance.
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
You always know what you are going to get with a book from this author. A little spice, good clean characters who you can't help but route for and a male character that can sometimes be a little slow on the uptake.
I loved reading Lisette's story and and the will they won't they get together angle and wondered if her mother had anything about pushing them together finally.
Certainly will not be my last book from this author.
A Princess in Waiting is a good, enjoyable read. I received a free copy through Fantastic Flying Book Club provide a free copy in exchange for review. During a time when I am inundated with work and books that used to take me 1 to 2 days to read now take me 4 to 6 days to read because I am always working, this was time well spent. It helps that the characters are very likable. A Princess in Waiting is the third story in a series about the Rothman Royals. Although I did not read the first two I was able to jump right in and understand the characters and a bit about their history.
Lisette is the youngest of the Rothman Royals. She is extremely shy and introverted except when with her family and her best friend Alex. When strangers are around she withdraws and, when possible, flees the scene. She has been in love with Alex, the son of a staff member of the royal family, since she was a teenager. They literally grew up together and always share everything. Lisette's mother has visitor's coming and one of them is the wealthy, successful son, Stefan. The queen wastes no time working to bring Stefan and Lisette together and they seem attracted to each other. Lisette has never dated and is unsure how to show Stefan she is interested so she seeks Alex's help. Alex is willing to help but, he appears to not be too happy about it. It is quite unusual for someone to make it through college and still be so shy, but, the story gives a good feel for how hard it is for Lisette to come out of her shell. She steps out and tries to make some changes and things go a bit haywire. This is definitely a series I would like to jump into and read the other books. If you are in the mood for a light romance with royals A Princess in Waiting will definitely suffice. Review can also be seen at LadyTechie's Book Musings
Lisette is quiet and shy and quite different from the rest of her family. Lisette often finds herself attending functions as part of her royal duty which she finds quite difficult considering her introverted personality. The person who always there for her and makes her feel better is her best friend Alex.
They have been friends ever since they were young but Lisette has been in love with Alex ever since she could remember. The only problem is that he doesn’t feel the same way plus her Mother is match making her with the single rich man to come and stay at the castle.
Lisette involves the help of Alex to help her gain attention to the new guy. Alex is reluctant as he has feelings for Lisette. Overall, Alex helps her gain more confidence in herself but they end up falling even more for each other in ‘fake’ attempts to make the new guy jealous.
This was a nice and simple friends to lovers story with added princesses.
I liked the second in this series the best. This one was okay but felt a little too similar in the reluctant hero with a heroine who had to do more of the pursuing. Somehow it felt a little more organic in the second where this one got overly drawn out.
I had to struggle through most of the book. Didn't even like the MC which was a huge disappointment considering I have a soft spot for bookish, introverted heroines.
The third story in the Rothman Royals series sees the youngest daughter Lisette realizing that the man of her dreams has been right under her nose her whole life. Best friends with Alex, son of the Rothman’s administrator, Lisette laments to him that her shyness will prevent her from ever making a good marriage match. When her mother has a French family come to visit with an eye to a marriage between Lisette and their son Stefan, Alex offers to help her improve her confidence. But in close quarters, Lisette soon finds herself thinking of Alex as more than just a friend. Will this Princess choose her best friend over a Prince?
I am really enjoying this series by Noelle Adams, with its fairy-tale like kingdom of Villemont nestled in the scenic Alps. Lisette is a really lovely character, a young woman who is very shy and struggles with the constant public appearances required by her family status. Her friend and confidant Alex is equally likable, a smart young man with a good head on his shoulders who plans to start his own business once he finishes his schooling. It’s one of those situations where they’ve both developed feelings for each other over time, but neither has wanted to admit it to the other. Lisette fears rejection and the loss of her friend, and Alex believes that he isn’t of a high enough social class to be an acceptable match for Lisette, from her parents’ perspective.
Alex’s attempts to help Lisette catch Stefan’s attention include giving her conversation advice, some fun shopping (in which Lisette makes some more daring clothing choices than her usual laid back and casual ones), and eventually suggesting that they pretend to be intimately involved to make Stefan jealous. That last bit backfires, though, as it sparks flames between Lisette and Alex that can’t be easily ignored. They share some sexy scenes together and make some choices that could end in heartbreak, if not for support from some surprising sources. There is a delightful, happy ending for this well-matched couple and a sweet epilogue. If you like lighthearted and sexy novellas with modern twists on royal romances, you’ll enjoy this series.
This book is a friends to lovers story. Lisette and Alex are friends. Lisette mother pushes her to date Stefan so she enlisted the help of her friend Alex to teach her how to flirt and gain Stefan's attention. Lisette has no idea that Alex has feelings for her too. What happens when fake turns into real? Will they take a chance on each other or will they stay friends?
4.5 stars. I was so excited to read Lisette and Alex's story, and it was just as great as I'd hoped! I love a good friends to lovers story, and you could clearly see the sparks fly between them from the very beginning. Lisette is the quiet sister, and other than her sisters, she feels that Alex is the only person who really understands her. While Lisette has loved Alex since she was 16, he has always made it clear to her that they are just friends. Alex is a great hero--loyal, smart, and understanding...but never believing that he would be worthy of a princess.
I liked the plot of this story, and the pacing moved well. The characters are so engaging and like-able that you can't help but love them. I also loved checking in with the other sisters and hearing how their lives are going! I will admit that I was hoping for a bit more from the epilogue. It did do a good job of setting up Henry's story (at least that's what I'm assuming is next, and I can't wait!!) but I was hoping to see a bit more of Lisette and Alex together.
This has been a very enjoyable series, and I really hope we get to see what Ms. Adams has in store for Henry! He hasn't played as much of a role in some of the earlier books, so I can't wait to learn more about him and see his HEA!

Contemporary royal romance mixed with friends to lovers and a bit of off limits
A Princess in Waiting is the third book in this series but can be read as a standalone, although having read the previous book adds that little bit extra understanding and familiarity. This book takes on the theme of friends to lovers between a princess and her best friend who she has grown up with who, along with his father, works for her family.
Told solely from Lisette’s point of view, there is an incredible chemistry between her and Alex despite Lisette being the reserved, quiet and innocent sister who wants to please her family. As a result, despite being best friends, because Alex works for her family she figures him off limits and instead tasks him in helping her find love with someone more acceptable in terms of social circles. However, Lisette soon finds out that chemistry can’t be taught.
A Princess in Waiting s is a short novella that is well written and moves at a fast pace but it works given the set up of the book. There is just enough heat and twists and turns to watch as the plot evolves making this a nice contemporary royal romance read for those who enjoy a royal romance.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
Lisette Rothman is a shy princess and dislikes centre of attention. But, when her sisters have met their beloved man, Lisette too want her man. But how can she get it if she don't know how to talk with a man ?
So, here her best friend, Alex, a handsome son of one Lisette's father employee come to help.
Actually, Lisette likes Alex. When she is sixteen/seventeen, Lisette tell Alex her feelings. But Alex decline politely and he said to Lisette they just friends.
Now, Lisette is twenty one. There is handsome French millionaire come to Villemont. Lisette see this opportunity and asks Alex to teach her how to flirt with a man.
You can see that plan is backfired. As we expected, how Lisette and Alex deal with their social obstacle. There is no much drama. This story is a heart-warming about friends become lovers.
Lissette and Alex have always been close. They've been each other's best friends, and biggest supporters. Taking the pressure to find a match had Lissette getting advice from Alex, which really got him to decide to show and act on his feelings.
But it wasn't an easy road, it took tabloid pictures, chance in his employment and her families blessing for her to put her heart on the line- even though she wasn't sure her feelings were returned.
Thankfully though both we're in love with the other.
I think the Queen and her sisters knew the entire time.
What better match then someone groomed in royal shadows, and your best friend.
I enjoyed this book about Lisette as a young princess who is nothing like her other sisters. She is just like a normal everyday person with Alex as her best friend. The more you read you wander if he sees her as more than just a friend, but he seems genuine.
Lisette is total opposite of her siblings. I think that is what makes the story so interesting. There is nothing bad about them, but she is the one that wants the normal life and not the princess life. I think it is so sweet that Alex is helping her so she can try to get a guys attention. I can't wait to see what else will happen in more stories ahead.
This is the third book of the Rothman Royals series, but can be read as a standalone. However, the series is so good that you will want to read them all. Lisette is an introvert princess, very shy and bookishy. She always had a thing with Alex who is an employee of the palace and a longtime friend. They get along great, but Lisette is getting the pressure to assume a more active whole in the family and is introduced to the son of a family friend. From then on begins a sweet story of two friends that turn into lovers. Only Noelle Adams can bring to the table such a wonderful tale of love, friendship which is sexy too! I recommend the series and this book and you will not regret it.
This was so incredibly cliched. Yes, most rom-coms dabble in cliches but this was too predictable. The only redeeming factor was Lisette - she was so sweet and adorable. Alex - I could not care less for.
