Wonderful book that makes scientific learning of the earth fun and exciting. I even learned something new! Great book to read with an elementary age kiddo which will help provide a way to start them thinking and asking questions. Makes for great child-parent conversations!

It makes for good conversation while eating out, that's why Chick-fil-A gives these out to children. One thing that is incorrect and there should be a correction in later editions of this book is that in the last page it says in North America we call grasslands "prairies" and in South America, they're called "Pampas." But that is not true, they are called praderas. Pampas is only used in Argentina and Argentina is not the entirety of South America.

Genre: Informational non-fiction
Grade range: 1st grade-4th grade
This book is so fun and engaging! There are pages where you can shine a flashlight underneath, and it shows a secret picture that shines through the page. I put the grade range a bit higher, because it is a longer book, with some counting activities and bigger words that kindergarteners might not be interested in as much. I think that this would keep even some older students engaged and on the edge of their seat. This would also be a really good book to introduce the topics of a study over earth or on earth day! I really enjoyed this book, and I think it would interest children as well.

This wonderful story is about our planet, Earth. The author takes the reader on a traveling tour of Earth and talks about the different features Earth has to offer. I liked all the illustrations because they go with the text and are big and easy to see. The simplicity of the pictures is great too because it helps the reader to focus on the words on the page and gives hints as to what the reader will be reading about.

I’m glad that a book fair was held at my daughter’s gym class which gave me the opportunity to come across this shine-a-light book which is pretty rad and a delight to our story time! I’m looking forward to having more of them in the future! She especially loves holding the flashlight to search for animals and other secrets hidden in the pages! We love it!💖💖💖

I like these 'shine a light books.' This is one is no exception. Simple statements complemented by simple illustrations. Great non-fiction for younger elementary age kids.
