A lot in one story
Blackmail, murder for hire, kidnapping, ghost, cannibals, shape shifters, alien species, disease, poisons, and more are all included in this first installment of the Middlemarch Capture series. For those who have read the original Middlemarch Shifters series, this one begins very confusingly. You must read a little ways in to the story to get the background necessary to clear this confusion. This Saber, a descendent of the original Middlemarch Saber, is the oldest son that is helping this group of Mitchell's set up a life for themselves on the planet Tiraq. Partially with the same problem that existed in the original Middlemarch, lack of females, Eva is the first female "captured". Add all of Eva's personal issues, with Saber's and you have a very interesting, complicated story.

I love a good giggle at some ridiculous alien smut but I'm starting to run low on freebies so I decided to give Snared a go, despite being underwhelmed by My Scarlet Woman. The inspiration for Scarlet was interesting - an amalgamation of two news stories in the New Zealand Herald, one about panther sightings, the other about the Middlemarch Singles' Ball. It was not, however, strong enough to carry a dozen or so more books in the series, let alone this spin-off series.
Technically, the writing is fine. I didn't notice any grammatical or syntactical errors. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the plot. The attempt at stringing together some story between sex scenes was very poor. When the author evidently got bored of the protagonists hiking through the jungle, she threw in the most deus ex machina of dei ex machina: a property, inhabited by an incorporeal species, who will magic absolutely anything you want out of thin air out of gratitude for having some house guests. It even conveniently disappears when you no longer want it. I mean, seriously - this is such intensely fucking lazy writing. Almost anything would have worked better. Perhaps some friendly aliens without unlimited magical powers. Or a shelter built by the resort owners. Or, even simpler, just make the walk a bit shorter! This was just a poor excuse to have some more sex scenes in a bed.
The apparent drama written in to create a plot fell very flat. It was hard to care about the fate of some restaurants owned by a dead guy, or indeed proving the nefarious villains killed him when 1) the heroine obviously had somewhere else to be 2) she wasn't bothered enough to cancel her girls' weekend 3) she didn't love him or seem to miss him anyway and 4)

Great romance! Saber and his family of feline shifters have fled Earth due to a virus that was killing off their kind. Now they need to find mates before the male members of the pride kill each other. Starting a resort where they can attract single women that wouldn't mind being "captured" by the right man is a good start. Now they just have to find the perfect women to capture and convince them to stay and mate with them.
The first "capture" doesn't go very well. The two women they picked have no family to miss them if they disappear, but at least one of them is not going to be kidnapped without a fight. Eva already has plenty of problems and being woken up by a man determined to carry her off is not going to be one of them. Well, maybe it is, but he will know her wrath. Though Felix was supposed to be the one to tame Eva, it seems that Saber is going to get the honors when she is snatched by a huge bird while trying to escape. Saber grabs her legs and goes along for the ride. Now he just has to get them back to the resort, but not before convincing Eva that he belongs with her and she belongs with him. He is up for the challenge, and it will be a challenge.

I loved this book from page 1 it had captured me and wouldn’t let me go until the end. Saber opened up a fantasy resort for women on a planet far from earth, he’s hoping the males there will find their mates. There was a feline disease that killed the females of his race including his fiancée, Saber isn’t looking for another mate for himself but when he ends up being captured with Eva and taken to the other side of the resort he and Eva’s adventures begin. Eva is now a single woman after the death of her husband and she is determined to do things on her own until her best friend suggest that they go to this planet and play out their fantasies. This story definitely has the wow factor, a very sexy cat shifter now who wouldn’t want a fantasy with one of them?, well my hand is definitely up!. Fantastic throughly enjoyable read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read and this story deserves more than 5 ⭐️.

Bonds are formed by shared experiences.
Reading this caused me to realize why a " capture " could be successful. As Saber said in the story, it's the sharing of experiences that cause a bond to be formed. Our failure in current "dating" experiences could be what's being shared. If stressful experiences are shared successfully, there's a good chance the relationship has good chances of being a success. If all that's shared are meals, movies, entertainment, what foundation is there the bond will hold? Life is not always entertainment. It's often multiple stressful experiences, often layered on one another.
Perhaps people considering a longtime relationship would have a better indicator of success if they signed up for 'a capture".

The scene is set at a luxury resort owned by a family of feline shifters that had been forced to relocate their family and business to Tiraq after a virus nearly wiped out their species on Earth. Eva Henry and her best friend, Casey Seonaid, have traveled to the Middlemarch Resort, Ione Island on Tiraq to relax and enjoy the pleasures promised by this resort. When Eva is kidnapped by an unknown assailant and then she and Saber are dropped into a hostile jungle, the real adventure begins. Saber's attraction toward Eva drove him to protect her while they worked together to survive all of the unseen dangers in their new environment.This amazing story with its captivating jungle creatures was exciting and thrilling. Of course, Saber and Eva steamed up the already hot jungle and made an impressive team. I just loved the characters and that affectionate, tall-legged Bluebird. Such An Enthralling Story. Great, Great Read!!!!!

🐾 This was a fun twist to your typical sci-fi shifter reads 🐾
I do not want to do spoilers which makes this just a bit harder
I really liked the main characters - both were strong of will and intelligent
Our heroine was a bit of a kick at times and I enjoyed the more playful side of their relationship
There are a lot of hidden gems and surprises within the story - We get Action - Suspense- Romance and a little Magic (which I really liked)
Great world building and plot ideas - being first in series the author set a strong foundation for future books
I did have a problem in certain areas where the story seemed to lull a bit and others where a scene or idea was started but the author failed to carry us through it
Overall - an enjoyable read that was entertaining

For a birthday present, Casey takes her good friend, Eva to a resort catering to capture/sex fantasies. Eva is on the cusp of finding out who killed her husband but her friend decides to destroy her cell. They check in and go to their lodge. Sometime that night both women are taken although Eva puts up a really good fight. When she awakens, she heads out as fast as she can to get away from whomever took her. She's snatched by a big yellow bird (haha no not Big Bird) and Sabre tries to get her back only to have both of them taken away. Thus begins the adventure of a life for Eva and an awakening adventure for Sabre.
Fantastic story and read. Chuckles are ok occasionally as you read...

Wow! Wow! I wish I could give it 10 stars! It has a fantastic plot and a wonderful storyline! It grabs you from the first word to the last! It has everything murder, mayhem, mystery, greed, really strange and wonderful animals, scary situations, danger, drama, and deadly creatures, and lots of magic! Also it has a wonderful family and friends, who will do anything to protect and help each other; along with a very evil family that will stop at nothing to get what they want! With the help of a handsome hero and courage to comfort the evil, will justice and true love conquers all? I guess you will have to read and see! Loved, loved it!

I must admit to being a fan of Shelley Munro's stories and, this is no exception.
This book is really thinking outside the box and, this is way outside the box, in a great way.
I thoroughly enjoyed this short story, reading it all in one sitting and, wanting more, much more!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I also purchased a copy.
This was a great book. I don't normally read books that take place on another planet or outer space but I love shifter romance. This was fairly easy for my simple mind to comprehend. The descriptions were not over the top; they were just enough for my imagination to create the scenes in my mind. I did enjoy this story.

A group of puma shifters has fled Earth to escape a plague that is killing them.
The plague struck the women harder, so a set of brothers running an old resort set up a way to get lots of women to their resort so they can choose a wide each. What they forgot were that these women had other things going on with their lives their first choice has ex-in-laws trying to steal her restaurants and kill her. Whoops.

Eva and Saber
Visiting a resort that specializes in Women’s capture fantasies Eva is freaked out when she is awakened in the night, drugged and spirited away. (What did she expect?!)
There were a lot of subplots in this story but I felt Eva wasn’t at all the strong women she is mentioned to be. She sounded like a brat in the jungle. She took way too much from her in-laws before she stood up to them.
Basically, I liked Saber, Eva not so much.

Engaging
I have to say this is a very interesting story. There is a lot going on, we have kidnapping, jungle full of large birds of prey, hungry natives and unusual animals.
I enjoyed reading how Saber and Eva get to know each other during their track back to the safety of the resort.

I loved this book! Saber was a great character and I enjoyed his interaction with Eva. Eva was also likable and the two had hot chemistry. Lots of action and lots of sexy time as the two spend time together. This book had shifters, kidnapping and alien touches that also had the flavor of Shelley's Middlemarch thrown in. I look forward to reading the next in this series!

If like me you enjoy a good shifter romance then you should definitely give this a go.I really enjoyed it.It is a really good action packed read that had me sucked in from the very start.I just loved that it was a bit different from the usual shifter read.A super start to the series I cannot wait to read more

Fun and different
Being catnapped may not be everyone's idea of fun but it was not meant to be dangerous apart from maybe their hearts. A full on adventure that will keep you entertained and reading long after you should have been doing other things so be earned this book is addictive

This book kept you wondering what the next interesting animal was going to be. Saber and Eva's adventures make you want to keep reading. Eva's looking to make her husbands death mystery solved takes you to get another planet and you get more than you thought. I can't wait to read what happens to the next brother, Felix.

Here kitty, kitty, kitty!
I have to be honest, being a cat lover, I chose this book for the pretty black panther on the cover. By the end of the first page I was hooked. So much action there was something new around every corner. A must read! Thank you Shelley Munro.

The first book in Middlemarch Capture and a fast book to read enjoyed reading and looking forward to reading the next book.I found myself laughing at some things there is also danger a well-written book well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and I also bought it.

This was really good. So many interesting characters. I’m definitely going to read more of this series. The resort, surrounding areas, animals and flora was so vividly described. I really HATED those wack curse words the heroine kept spouting. It almost ruined the story. As soon as I was immersed in the story the heroine would think them and ugh, so annoying. I don’t know what the author thought this would add to the story. I’m giving the five stars purely on story. I highly recommend this book.

Why is rape/capture a thing? Still? Ever? That there would ever be a resort geared to this asinine idea is off-putting.
That said, the interplay was fun at times and we all knew it would end up with a happily ever after.
