Valuable in particular for personalizing experiences such as currency reform and the Berlin airlift, which are hard to appreciate on a day-to-day level otherwise. Also, the ease and regularity with which people disappeared was chilling - as well as the fear of not being able to see the end of it all. Worth reading.

Diary of a Berliner from the end of the war til '48. Interesting insights on living in very bad conditions.
