I am such a sucker for romantic suspense!!! I just LOVE how the tension and danger of the situation enables the romance to blossom in such a passionate way! Kakadu Sunset is the prime example of a FABULOUS romantic suspense! I absolutely loved it!
Ellie is a helicopter pilot in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. She grew up in Kakadu but following her fathers suicide, her remaining family have all moved away. Flying over the old family farmhouse, she notices that there is some excavation happening on the property. Concerned because Kakadu is a national park and mining is not allowed, she decides to investigate. She soon realises that there are some powerful people who will stop at nothing to keep the work secret. Adding to this, she also has a new co worker Kane, who happens to be the step son of the new owner of the farm. As sparks begin to fly between them, she needs to know if she can trust him. What exactly is going on at the old farm? And was her father’s death really a suicide after all?
I thought this book was fantastic! I loved the premise of the book! I haven’t read many books where the main character was a helicopter pilot, let alone a female helicopter pilot. I thought it was really original and I loved reading about her flying high above Kakadu, I was imagining what the sites would be like! I have never been to Kakadu National Park, but it is on my bucket list – higher on the list now after reading this book! Do yourself a favour and Google some images of Kakadu as you read this to get an even better idea of the beauty of the landscape!
I thought the characters were all fantastic! Ellie was strong, smart and independent. I loved the passion that she has for Kakadu. I thought Kane was fabulous, with his troubled past… The tension between them was lovely and believable.
It had everything I love reading about, all rolled into one fabulous book! Suspense, drama, romantic tension, a great plot, a bit of heat, a bit of violence, and CROCODILES!!!
I was actually surprised by how suspenseful it was, especially towards the end. A lot of the time I find romantic suspense books tend to focus more on the relationship between the characters, rather than actually developing a compelling suspense plot, but Kakadu Sunset does both! It had me on the edge of my seat! I stayed up till 3am finishing it because I couldn’t stop reading!
So glad to have found another fabulous Aussie author! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kakadu Sunset for any fans of romantic suspense and gorgeous Aussie settings!
Many thanks to the publisher Pan Macmillan for an advanced copy of Kakadu Sunset to read in exchange for my honest review.
“‘Trust me, I will do whatever is necessary. I want this finalised in two weeks.’ ‘Are you threatening me?’ ‘Not yet. I am merely protecting your career.’
. . . The man clearly needed a reminder of precisely where he stood in the scheme of things. In short: under his foot.
. . . ‘Do you know that I’ve been reading the most terrible things about childhood accidents in the papers recently? I do hope you look after yours very well . . . .’
This Aussie romance takes a darker turn as the World Heritage Area of Kakadu National Park in Australia’s Northern Territory is a target for mining. But first, the romance.
Ellie Porter is one of three sisters who grew up on a property neighbouring Kakadu, but it was sold after her father died, and her mother and sisters have moved away. She missed the area and is now a helicopter pilot, taking tourists out and rescuing those who get stranded.
Kane McLaren is an Afghanistan vet, a pilot, suffering from PTSD who doesn’t believe the doctors’ mumbo-jumbo, being a pull-up-your-socks-boy kind of hero. He signs on at Kakadu as a mechanic, not a pilot, but the first time these two meet, there’s an emergency requiring both of them to go up to do an aerial search.
While their meeting is bumpy (he’s gruff, she’s annoyed he doesn’t want to fly with her), the author lights the first sparks. When he first sees her, he notes:
“Cargo shorts, heavy lace-up boots and a khaki shirt didn’t hide the curves of the hot little package standing in front of him.”
After she gets him up in the air, she notes he’s sweating, in spite of the cool breeze coming into the cabin.
“Not to mention the fact that his shirt was unbuttoned. It was hard to ignore the glimpse of muscled arms and tight abs when she looked across to his side of the chopper. It was a long time since she’d been up close and personal with a body like that. Maybe never, if she was strictly honest about it.”
So, we can see where this is going. Alongside their obvious interaction, there’s her best friend, Heather, an Aboriginal girl whose father, Bill, has been like an uncle to Ellie all her life. And there is a young politician and his family, whom we come to care about.
The mysterious circumstances of Ellie’s father’s death and other goings-on on their old property prompt Ellie to begin asking awkward questions which lead to all kinds of trouble. Her mother had been collecting material for a long time.
“. . . it was easy to see why Kakadu was such an attractive location for the process. In most areas, water had to be trucked in with tankers; in Kakadu it fell from the sky. Her mother had listed links to hundreds of articles on the carcinogens and toxic chemicals that had to be pumped into the wells. ‘The contamination of the ground water would spell the end of Kakadu.’
Facts and history are sprinkled throughout: “visitors often found it hard to believe that the park was almost half the size of Switzerland.”
Plenty of crocodiles and croc stories. (Always scary!) Plenty of angst about coal seam gas exploration. Plenty of dark and dastardly “lobbying” (see first quotes). No disturbing graphic sex or violence.
This is the first in the Porter Sisters Series, and I expect the others will be equally enjoyable.
Always love reading Australian Women Writers (AWW) and even more so when they reside in familiar necks of the woods. Mid north coast of NSW. I hear this author travels to research, I think this is apparent and well written. I’m thankful my Goodreads friend Mel, leant it to me.
Loved the ‘easiness’ of the read, just enough romance and suspense to make it an enjoyable and fast pace rural romance story. It’s easy to pigeon hole these types of books, but what it is, is a well written Aussie story with enjoyable characters. I love the chemistry between two clever and well-adjusted adults, and even better when the female protagonist is feisty and switched on.
I’ve been to Darwin, and reading this book bought back memories from this girls’ week away and makes me want to go back. It’s good when a book evokes memories from fun times. So to all you fellow readers out there, I enthusiastically will safely say to embrace this AWW theme, you’ll be sure to be rewarded.
Driving back to Makowa Lodge in the Kakadu National Park, Ellie Porter realized that while she had enjoyed her time off work, she was keen to be back doing what she loved. A helicopter pilot, she took tour groups across and through the park, with sunset trips being extremely popular. After a phone call from her boss, she learned that immediately on her return to base, Ellie was to put the chopper in the air to search for a group of missing tourists. The adrenalin was pumping; the crocodiles would be out in force – it was not a good time to be lost in that environment. But as Ellie soared over the boundary that used to be her parents farm, she was shocked to see huge gashes in the earth; it looked to be excavation of some kind and Ellie was uneasy.
Kane McClaren had been hired as an engineer to service the choppers and see they were fuelled and ready to leave for each trip. But he was also a qualified pilot and Ellie couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t accept that role as well. Kane had a past which he didn’t share with anyone, least of all the bossy woman who piloted the choppers. But as Ellie and Kane were drawn into the intrigue of secrets that were threatening to become unravelled, an insidious danger was threatening the Territory and its inhabitants. Would they be able to uncover the truth before it was too late? And who could Ellie and Kane trust?
Let me just say first of all that I absolutely love the cover! It’s glorious! Kakadu Sunset by Aussie author Annie Seaton is her first in the romantic suspense genre, and what an introduction it is! I absolutely loved the story; the plot was intriguing and fast paced, the tension was up there with the best and the crocodiles were terrifying! Gripping and compelling suspense laced with a tender romance, I have no hesitation in recommending Kadadu Sunset highly to all lovers of the genre.
With thanks to Pan Macmillan and the author for my copy to read and review.
I enjoyed this one. The main character is a female helicopter pilot which is pretty original and there is a good bit of mystery, suspense and action as well as some romance. The setting is the Kakadu National Park, near Darwin and the author describes it well. She chooses some very topical issues to fuel the main plot line and adds some attractive characters to keep the interest going. All very well done and wrapped up in a beautiful cover! I am looking forward to reading book 2.
Kakadu is a great setting for this romantic/suspense and the descriptions of this amazing scenery and it's people have a really authentic feel. Ellie Porter is a helicopter pilot at a tourist resort who takes tourists on sightseeing flights so she gets to appreciate the beautiful scenery every day. Ellie grew up in the area on a nearby mango farm but when her father dies her mother sold the farm and they moved away. However, Ellie's love for Kakadu has drawn her back to the Territory. Usually Ellie makes it a rule not to get romantically involved with her work colleagues but there is something about the new mechanic, Kane that sets her senses tingling, although he seems hesitant to talk about himself and make friends.
Ellie is also concerned that there is some strange activity going on at the old family farm and has no idea how much trouble she could get into just by nosing around. This was an enjoyable well written romance with a good mystery plot to keep up the suspense. Kane and Ellie were very real characters and the resort felt like the sort of place that would exist in the Territory. 3.5★
I am always up for an Annie Seaton book, she writes fabulous stories and this one has been sitting on my TBR pile for a while, I have read books four and five in the series and I knew I needed to read the first three and I was not sorry, only sorry I have waited so long to read this one. It is another fast paced edge of your seat story with a fabulous cast of characters and I loved it from start to finish.
Ellie Porter is a pilot and she loves what she does she works for Makowa Lodge in Kakadu National Park taking tourists for scenic flights, she has spent most of her life here, firstly growing up on a mango farm until the death of her father which has always haunted her. Ellie has just returned to Makowa Lodge after a holiday with her mother and sister and on her way home she sees lots of trucks pulling into the old mango farm so the next time she is in the air she flies over and does not like what she sees. Ellie is determined to investigate and find out what is happening she is sure things are not right.
Kane McLaren has moved to the area and been hired as an engineer not a pilot his past is still too new for that, but he is here to help look after his mother and do his job looking after the choppers, meeting the strong willed Ellie may be just the thing to help him get over the past that is if the danger from Ellie’s investigating leaves them both safe.
Ellie needs someone she can trust and Kane is that man, it doesn’t take long before they are getting closer and opening up to each other danger is getting closer all the time as people are getting killed and the intrigue gets deeper.
This is an awesome story so much tension as the scheming of one man grows and more people are pulled in, Ellie does not give up not matter how much danger there is, the setting is totally fabulous even with all of the crocodiles, this is a must read book, I loved Ellie and Kane they deserved to find their HEA, I can’t wait to pick up book two. I do highly recommend this one.
Being a Darwin girl of some 40 years – and knowing the Kakadu Park area very well, I have to say I approached the setting very critically. I need not have worried – Aussie author Annie Seaton nailed it!!! Other than one little quibble about the location of her MacDonald’s in Darwin City and Darwin’s Mitchell Street being called Mitchell Avenue everything else accurate – as is the magnificent scenery and the ever present danger of Crocodiles – don’t go swimming in the rivers here!!! But every beauty spot has its snake; and KAKADU SUNSET’s snake is human with ruthless henchmen, political corruption and the very topical subject of mining and fracking.
The pace moves quickly with the tension steadily building as the reader gets to know what’s going on and where the danger is coming from before Ellie and Kane. That doesn’t mean to say there aren’t a few twists and turns just to prove that maybe you didn’t know it all. Each of the characters are realistic – including the support cast – you can feel the worry, the fear, the sickness and the anger. The building up of the romance between Kane and Ellie is not the main focus, it is part and parcel with the suspense – one doesn’t overpower the other. Another of the layers to the story is the fact that Annie feels passionate about conservation and the environment. It comes through the story strongly – but she doesn’t pick you up and shake you about it. Indigenous land rights also add to the tapestry of the story.
KAKADU SUNSET is the first in a trilogy based on the three Porter sisters – and I have the next one – DAINTREE – in my hot little hand. In all honesty, if you like romantic suspense that grips you and won’t let you go, then do yourself a favour and get yourself a copy of this book.
Kakadu Sunset is book 1 of the Porter Sisters series by Annie Seaton. Ellie Porter was a helicopter pilot at the Makowa Lodge near the Alligator River. One day Ellie was called back to work one day earlier from holidays to look for missing hikers in the National Park. Kane McLaren was hired as the second pilot and engineer at Makowa Lodge from the start Ellie and Kane clashed. On the way back Makowa Lodge Ellie flew over her childhood home and seeing something that was not right. The readers of Kakadu will continue to follow the twist and turns trying to find out what was going on at the back of Ellie's childhood home and to start to wonder what is going on with Ellie and Kane.
I was recommended to read this book by a friend of my and I so pleased that she did. I enjoyed reading Kakadu Sunset so much that I forget about going to sleep. Kakadu Sunset is the second book I have read by Annie Seaton, and I like the way she describes The Northern Territory to her readers. I like Annie Seaton writing style and the way she portrays her characters. Also, I enjoy the way Annie Seaton intertwine all her characters together. Reading Kakadu Sunset, I learnt about working in a holiday resort in the Northern Territory.
Readers will learn what consequences to ex-soldiers who are suffering from PTSD and some ways to help them to overcome the symptoms. Kakadu Sunset highlights what people will do to achieve their dreams when a significant amount of money is involved. Also, readers will learn about blackmail and how it can destroy families and friendships. Readers of Kakadu Sunset will learn about political corruption.
Annie Seaton captures the essence of the Northern Territory in this exciting romantic suspense. I live in the Northern Territory and thoroughly enjoyed the familiar landscape of Darwin and Kakadu. The topics of fracking and indigenous land rights were handled well. As for the crocodiles.... Beware of the crocodiles! If you ever come up here to visit, remember that they don't only live in Kakadu, we often have some in the lake at our local park in the suburbs.
I loved the dynamics between Ellie and Kane. They were both well developed, likeable characters. The romance and the suspense were well balanced, keeping me turning the pages.
I won a paperback copy of Kakadu Sunset through a giveaway on the Books, Babies, Being blog. I loved the fact that I began reading in Darwin, then finished reading on holiday and what turned out to be Annie Seaton's hometown. Small world! Another awesome Aussie author on my favourites list.
Kakadu Sunset is my first read by this author. Holy smokes! this was really really good perhaps, even better than really really good! I will now add Annie Seaton to my favourite authors list.
Ellie is a sweetheart, kind and endearing, she enjoys her job as a helicopter pilot taking tourists on joy- flights to experience beautiful panoramic views of Kakadu National Park.
Kane is aloof and a bit of a cowboy, a new colleague working with Ellie but on the ground as a helicopter engineer, he has a teeny problem, taking orders from a woman plus under no circumstances will he step into any helicopter, however no one else is available and when the bossy pilot speaks Kane has no choice but to get in and, well, everything is not as it seems. Kakadu Sunset also includes matters concerning the environment, land rights, mining and political corruption - a part of the book which had me seething, anything to do with bad-arse politicians gets up my nose.
Aah, The Northern Territory… Kakadu National Park… this story has inspired me to add this to the top of my bucket list and I seriously have my fingers crossed that in the next two years we’re exploring this stunning place and God willing we don’t run into any of those humungous crocodiles. Kakadu Sunset’s storyline had me engrossed in the suspense, crime, adventure and romance and navigating the physically challenging walking tracks along with Ellie and Kane.
A wonderful suspense romance thriller you can sink your teeth into.
For anyone who adores Helene Young’s romantic suspense books will also adore Annie Seaton’s book.
The Northern Territory is one of those places I’ve longed to visit for some time now so I was very excited to pick up Annie Seaton’s first romantic suspense novel and discover that she had placed her characters within this terrifyingly beautiful landscape with not only the crocodiles to contend with.
Ellie is still trying to come to terms with the death of her father as well as the loss of her much-loved family farm – the only home she’d ever really known. Trying to put the past behind her, she puts her everything into her work as a helicopter pilot at Makowa Lodge, taking resort guests on flights over the breathtaking expanse of Kakadu National Park.
Kane has arrived in town to not only try and overcome the anxiety he suffers as a consequence of a horrific incident that took place whilst he was in the military, but also be nearer to his ill mother who is living on the old mango farm that Ellie’s family once owned. Hired by the lodge to service and maintain their helicopters, he’s not expecting to come face-to-face with the tiny but sassy and determined Ellie and even more unprepared for the way she makes him feel.
Then of course, there’s the fact that Ellie has discovered that something sinister appears to be afoot at the property bordering the park and has taken it upon herself to investigate why the landscape has changed in such an unnatural way. As the sun sets on Kakadu, Ellie finds herself in rocky waters with her only saving grace being a man who can hopefully put aside his fears!
This is the first I have read by Annie Seaton and I was quite stunned to discover that it is also her first in the sub-genre because her writing is so impressive. Her descriptions of the landscape and life in Kakadu National Park and its surrounds are vivid, her characters practically leap off the page, emotional scenes are intense and her love scenes are just a little bit (read *a lot*) sexy - and all this while she ratchets up the suspense aspect to pulse-pounding perfection!
On the surface, this is a story about love but at the heart of that romance is an even deeper desire to protect our natural environment for generations to come and Annie has woven a truly suspenseful tale touching on contemporary issues which seem to increasingly be plaguing Australia and its people on a daily basis. Some of those issues include coal-seam gas mining, PTSD, suicide, corruption and greed whilst also touching on Indigenous land rights.
It’s quite clear that Annie is passionate about our environment and conservation and, while the conservation message in this novel is strong, it merely adds an extra layer to this well-written novel, never detracting from the romance that is playing out before the reader’s eyes, as Ellie seeks answers and Kane tries to overcome his fears.
With a well-crafted plot, a backdrop that shines in its intensity, believable characters, a passionate romance and great suspense, Annie Seaton will have you eating out of her hands as you devour this novel. Balancing out each aspect perfectly, she keeps her reader engaged, thus making it easy to become invested in Ellie, Kane and Kakadu’s story.
If you’re a fan of romance and its sub-genres then Kakadu Sunset should definitely be on top of your list as this is a promising beginning to, what looks like it could be, a successful series.
Kakadu Sunset by Aussie author Annie Seaton is the first book in The Porter Sisters series and what a fantastic start to the series. Fast paced, gripping, page turner and a beautiful cover. Romantic suspense at its best. Highly recommended.
It is great to read competent books with an Australian setting. The Kakadu resort setting worked particularly well - especially the helicopter team. The Territory emerges as a real place. The inclusion of an Afghanistan veteran and all the baggage that brings helps the story and is one of the book's strengths.
It was the setting and a mystery/suspense label that drew me to read it. It is more suspense than mystery. There is never much doubt about what is going on and who is involved. There is suspense around who will rescue who. A very convenient croc attack and a bit of fancy footwork by the heroine when she is not piloting her helicopter help to save the day.
This is a neat and well-told romance story with strong, well-drawn characters and plenty of action in a great setting. It would make a good movie.
WARNING: Kakadu Sunset is a sumptuous page turner that you won’t want to put down.
I read a lot of good books but every once in a while there will come a book that will make me go wow! Kakadu Sunset is definitely one such book. The setting, the characters, the pacing, the gripping suspense, romance and friendships are all excellently done. Annie Seaton always tells a good story but she’s out done herself with Kakadu Sunset.
The setting is fabulous, Kakadu National Park. Through the eyes of her characters, Annie Seaton, shows you the sweeping grandeur and atmosphere of the land and what it’s like to live there. She also shows why people will fight to keep it safe and beautiful.
The plot is taken right from the headlines. The environmental dangers of fracking and the immense amount profits to be made on such minerals rights and the lengths some will go to get that money.
The characters are well drawn and you can’t help but care about them all. Ellie Porter sparkles and she has a lot of heart and integrity. She loves the land but is still struggling with the loss of her father and the family farm and her grief makes it hard for her to open herself to love and loss. Then there is Kane, a former military pilot suffering PTSD. He’s feast for the eyes but, despite the damage of war is still tough and honorable. War and loss has closed him off from emotion. The romance between the two is fraught with emotional and physical danger and secrets, but it’s good and it mattered to me, as the reader, that they take the chance. You’re cheering them on. Ellie’s friends and Kane’s mother were also great characters. The villain is well done and three dimensional and I not only loathed him but wanted him squashed—for him people were things to be manipulated and tossed away like so much rubbish. He did quite a bit of tossing away. The dangerous stakes involved also made me question my own principles; how far would I go to protect my family?
The story moves fast and the tension and danger builds with each scene. The author does a great job of making the characters matter. What makes the story even better is just when you think you have it figured out the author ups the stakes and throws in a few surprises. The ending was very satisfying and well done.
If you like romantic suspense that grips you and doesn’t let go, this is the book to read this summer! I’m eagerly awaiting the next two!
Setting: Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Ellie Porter is a helicopter pilot at a holiday resort in Kakadu, taking tourists for scenic flights over the National Park and its surroundings. Her father owned a struggling mango farm nearby and eventually committed suicide, although her ill mother is convinced that he was killed. Flying over the old farm one day, she notices excavation work going on at the rear of the old farm near the border with the National Park. The new owner of the property assures her that he is building a new dam - but Ellie doesn't believe him. Returning to her base, Ellie meets new recruit Kane - he is qualified as a pilot but refuses to fly as says he is only there as an engineer. Nevertheless, Ellie finds herself drawn to him... Against a background of corruption at the highest level of State government, where politicians and committee members are being threatened by a powerful businessman trying to get approval for the coal extraction he has already started, Ellie and Kane pursue a relationship and revel in the wonderful scenery of Kakadu.... Really enjoyed this book, my first by this author. Loved the beautifully-described locations and I remember the wonderful N.T. sunsets from a brief trip to Alice Springs and Ayers Rock in the 80's - makes me want to visit there (although, like Ellie, I'm not so keen on the crocodiles, even though they came in useful towards the end of the book!). Also liked the characters and storylines, which led to a fast-paced and gripping ending. My enjoyment was spoiled somewhat by the terrible editing in the Kindle edition of the book - missing words, additional unnecessary words and poor formatting on the page, which meant that different characters' speech was shown on the same line, creating a bit of confusion at times. Nonetheless, I will be looking forward to reading more in the Porter Sisters series and others by this author - 8.5/10.
I must say Annie Seaton has outdone herself in this romantic suspense story. I love Australia but I've not traveled to the Northern Territory and her descriptions of the places especially the sunsets make me wanna visit and explore.
I definitely enjoyed the suspense and Ellie couldn't have been more fitting as the female lead in this read. Kane also held up on his own and I enjoyed the build up between him and Ellie. I commend on the detailed research done on knowing not just the history of the locations, the politics but also in the handling of the helicopters. The story was fast paced, intriguing and those crocs definitely kept me on the edge along with the suspense. There's no reason to miss out on checking this book especially since it has strong characters, compelling storyline and a great ending.
A copy of this book provided by the author in exchange for a honest review.
Sit back and enjoy the sunset in a romantic suspense story that will whisk you away. Ellie Porter is a successful helicopter pilot. Flying above Kakadu National Park everyday, doesn’t feel like work but does it with a heavy heart. Her father’s suicide and the drama with the family home is always on her mind. When there’s some mysterious going’s on near the property, Ellie believes she should investigate. But to add to her problems, outspoken co worker Kane McLaren has decided to interfere. Not only is she attracted to him but he is the son of the current owners of the farm. As she continues to get deeper involved in her enquires, danger is lurking and Ellie may have made one enquiry too much. Kakadu Sunset is book one in the Porter sisters series, released back in 2016, it’s been on the shelf for far too long and way overdue to be read. A leader in the genre of destination fiction, Annie continues to bring readers quality stories that take you away on a armchair holiday to some of Australia’s captivating places. A wonderfully written saga with a splash of romance and a well woven mystery throughout. Annie’s passionate love for conservation and the environment shines from the pages and grips the reader right in front of your eyes. A plot that ticks off the satisfaction checklist in an intriguing and interesting romantic charade. A tale of love, friendship, trust and crocodiles all set against the backdrop of beauty and essence.
This is my first Annie Seaton - only recently getting into "Rural" or "Outback Romance" genre. I was a bit wary as I usually find it a little on the light side - okay if you are after an easy and light read.
I was pleasantly surprised to find Seaton weaves a fair amount of intrigue and suspense into her stories and in fact, I would have viewed it more towards mystery and suspense - which is of course right up my alley!
I love her descriptions of the outback and our beautiful Kakadu National Park. The pace is fast enough to keep the pages turning and while the book is classified as a romance, the build up between the two main characters does not overshadow or seem trite against the dark twists the story takes at times.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more adventures with the Porter Sisters
A great mixture of romance and suspense. Loved the easy read and the descriptions were perfect. It made me feel as though I was in the story with them. Read it and find out. It captivated me and kept me there.
I would have given this 4 stars if there hadn’t been so many many many formatting issues that made reading this sometimes rather difficult. Still, liked the story.
I was engaged from the first page of Annie Seaton's new novel "Kakadu Sunset". I stepped very easily into the story of Ellie Porter and Kane McLaren's quest to find out what was happening to her old property on the border of Kakadu National Park. There were many layers to peel away, many secrets to uncover, taking us deeper and deeper into the story. Annie's ability to transport the reader into the landscape is evident throughout this book. Her appreciation of the beauty and the Spirituality of that part of Australia seeped from the pages and touched my heart and my soul. A wonderful book with all the elements combined. Not simply a romance, but a heartwarming environmental story about the Northern Territory, with suspense and political intrigue to keep the reader on their toes.
Oh how this book made me want to visit Australia so much!!!! Annie Seaton is such a brilliant author, and the way she describes her settings, as well as her characters, makes you feel like you're actually a part of the book. Such a great book with all the right themes: suspense, mystery, friendship, love.. The perfect mix!
A fresh voice in Australian Romantic Suspense, Annie Seaton takes us into the heart of Kakadu National Park where we meet feisty helicopter pilot, Ellie and the damaged war veteran, Kane. Weaving between political corruption, mining development, and crocodiles, Seaton brings us an enjoyable romantic and tense tale.
With thanks to Pan Macmillan and the author for my copy to read and review.

This is the first of Annie Seaton’s books that I have read and it didn’t disappoint. Set in the tropical and pristine area of Kakadu National Park and with realistic and intriguing characters, the suspenseful romantic story kept me going until the last page. Annie Seaton writes with passion for Australia’s wilderness areas and brings to life the characters and scenery that are unique to this part of the world. Looking forward to reading the next two books in the Porter Sisters Trilogy.
This was a good read, it is hard to believe the lengths people will go to for money at the detriment to our beautiful country. I found the first half a tad slow, but once things started moving I had trouble putting it down.
