Offers a detailed introduction to archaeoastronomy, the study of ancient monuments as astronomical observatories, using such examples as Stonehenge and Abu Simbel and interpreting the artwork of the pre-Columbian civilizations.
Would be a 5-star rating but a couple chapters spend a lot of time on "this person did all these tests and then turned out to be wrong". I get it, archeoastronomy is an emerging field, but I think this really dates the book (which came out in the 1980s) for modern readers.
