a very colorful children's Atlas. Includes both Illustrated and photographed animals. love the way it breaks down each species by continent. the maps get a little busy with country names, capitals, and Illustrated habitat types all included. appreciated the habitat key on each map since it was a little confusing. Wish the borders of each country were a little more pronounced as it was confusing to tell where the countries were separated. Needed this book to help list animals in different countries for a major homeschool project I'm working on. also there is a little quiz and FactFinder at the end which is an added bonus.
This book introduces various animals that live on different continents of the world. My favorite was the Green tree frog.
Green tree frog Depending on its mood, this little frog is either bright green or dull khaki in color. It inflates its vocal sac and screams if picked up—which can save its life, since the scream makes a lot of predators drop it in surprise!
Frogs change their appearance depending on their mood, just like humans do. We humans change our clothes, shoes, hairstyle, make-up, etc.
When I was a child, I bought a green frog as a pet. The frog had big eyes, and when I touched it, it twitched and pulled back, which was very cute.
I didn't like the pictures where they edited photos of animals all into one scene. But I think that's just a personal preference as opposed to a critique. There is a lot of great information here and I like that Antarctica, the Artic Circle, and the oceans and seas all get their own sections.
