This is a wonderful paranormal story that involves Gods and magic. I would also classify this as a romance book. I think this is the first time I have read anything by this author and I'm not sure if I will continue the series. I enjoyed it, but I think I read this at the wrong time (emotionally-wise).

Let me begin by explaining That I think many authors use sex to lure in women....I want a good story and it was so annoying to have to skip pages and pages of sex scenes all throughout the book it had to be half sex..Makes me wonder at what point can we not imagine a personal experience… Do we really need to hear the blow-by-blow’s? And why would we even want to read that it is not true in real life even with the best man. It makes me feel like that is the only reason I woman is a woman and that’s wrong. This is just my opinion and many women love you and you’re writing. So you will not starve because of me. The storyline was fabulous and I wish it was just the story if it were you would’ve gotten four stars. And 2 Thumbs Way up. For me when I hear of sex scenes I feel embarrassed like I am not supposed to know that about anyone but my own self. It embarrasses me.

First in the Siren series

Ellie comes from Scotland to the US to pack up her grandfather’s store after he passes away. She gets an unexpected surprise when a man appears out of nowhere. She is about to get a crash course lesson in magic, witches, and legends she thought were nothing but stories. Alec is part Siren and part water magic. He and his brothers have been buying herbs from Ellie’s grandfather for years. They live on their own island that is magically enhanced so other supernaturals cannot come in. He is instantly taken with Ellie but she was hurt bad in her last relationship and doesn’t want to get in that kind of predicament again.
A witch has stolen three magical torches and the guys are asked to retrieve them, cause that’s what they do. With these new powers the witch can bring the dead back and can possess other peoples bodies. Ellie is realizing she has powers of her own and after the guys are taken, her and another Goddess goes to get her torches back and rescue the guys.
Alec is about to lose his soulmate after she is badly injured. After going to another realm where she gets healed she returns to Alec but it could be too late.
Great story but I don’t know if my review makes any sense but I didn’t want to give away any good parts. Sexy story. Funny. Heartbreaking. Made me tear up a little.

I feel like an English teacher trying to grade a paper written at the last minute. This book tries so hard to be everything that it ends up being nothing.
I felt like the story was being told by Luis from Ant-Man: lots of little side stories that have nothing to do with anything.
The romance (which is steamy) is pretty much looking at each other's asses and having sex. I guess since they are "soulmates" they don't have to actually develop a relationship.
Is there anything good about the book? The basic premise is good. Male sirens are original. The scene between Eilidh and Hecate deciding on how they are going to save the brothers is good.
If I had seen this before it was printed, I would have said pick one horrible childhood factor instead of her parents never understood her, per parents died, her grandmother died, her grandfather died, her grandfather lied to her, and her grandfather (or grandparents) deserted her and moved to The States. Axe the abusive ex-fiancé. Abused women don't head to the underworld to save someone. DO NOT WRITE OUT THE BROGUE. Write your villain like she's a main character and not an accessory. Don't add in characters that don't move your story forward.

This was a terrific book. Packed with magic, possession, Gods and Goddesses, suspense, a scary trip through the underworld, and a forbidden love. Alec is the son of a siren and as such, has abilities. He and his three brothers are working for the Gods. Mostly finding lost or stolen artifacts. They are also forbidden love by Zeus. They can have all the trysts they can handle, just no love or commitment. Too bad Alec forgot about that. Ellie has come to the US from Scotland bury her grandfather and unknowingly inherited his magical powers, along with his magic shop, Speak o' the Devil. Needless to say, she had no idea magic even existed. Alec and his brother pop into the shop and learn of her grandad's death and Elle's new magic. Alec is trying to help her learn about her magic, but of course there is gonna be trouble. The boys have a job for the Goddess Hecate and trying to do their job and keep Ellie is getting to be a bit much. This is an intriguing and fun read. I loved Ellie's response to Alec when he sang for her. That was too funny. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.*** I’ve always been a fan of Helen and this book just makes my obsession even more! You get a great new look in Mythology into today’s world. This story is about the romance of Alec, 1 of 4 of a set of brothers that are Sirens, and Eilidh (Ellie). Ellie just comes upon her own magic and she needs to learn how to control it. Alec does everything he can to protect Ellie, even though he knows he should leave her side. She is forbidden to him yet he is so drawn to her. Duty however calls to him and his brothers to protect any that are in the sights of the Gods.
This book is written really well, the characters come together really well, it’s just the perfect amount of everything you want in a book. It’s not over dramatic, spaced out carefully, and not over written. You couldn’t ask for a better story to read.

This is the first book that I read written by Helen Scott. Bravo to her for this one. When you lose someone you love like your grandfather, there are times when you just want to shut down in life and just get away. But when you find out you have some sort of magical powers that you never knew, life can throw you even more curveballs than before. When you don't know how to control them and other prenatural creatures come face to fact with you, what can you do? This is a well written book, the story itself was very interesting and captivates you from the beginning and the characters were great. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

I'm a mystery novel reader, and this book was recommended to me. I was a bit apprehensive to read it as it normally isn't a genre I would gravitate towards.

What a delightful surprise! Helen Scott is an excellent writer! I could visualize her descriptions and I read the novel as if I were watching it on the big screen. (Make note Hollywood.)

Mythology, mystics, magic, love, bravery and a young lady who surprises herself and becomes a heroine. Really, what more could you ask for? Throw this in your pool/beach bag and enjoy your summer. There are more books to come!

It was a nice story, I liked the way the story was enriched with Gods and fae and magic.
I just couldn't help feeling that it was a bit too much. Sometimes too much information and too many details. Sometimes it also felt like some 'solutions' were only made up so the story could go on, it was a little bit forced.
I wonder what happend with Circe in the end, did she get an extra punishment for trying to kill Ellie, did Alec go after her?
It was also left open as to what Ellie had to give the fae in return for their help....
But these are only small details in an over all good story!

Electrically Charged

My first book by Helen Scott and I would like to say I was not disappointed. This book started out with kind of just average expectation and now I really hated to put it down to work.

Getting to know the brother, Circe, Hecate and Ellie really helped pick up the story to the point you get so engrossed with what is happening you don't want to be interrupted.

Can't wait for the other brothers stories.

What an entertaining read. I loved all the different worlds that are out there just beyond what we mere mortals see. A great blend of paranormal suspense and romance that grabs you and says hang on for the ride. I also am loving the fact that ALL the brothers will have their own story! Awesome!

I enjoy paranormal romances that include a variety of supernatural characters and this book includes many different types. There is a lot of action and adventure as they battle a deadly enemy and try to earn the right to pursue their love. It is a fast paced read with great character development and a storyline that keeps your interest with each turn.

Interesting mix with Greek gods and goddesses and Celtic mythology as Alec the sirens son's and Ellie who is defended from the Fae find love .
Lots of action as Alec and his brothers fight the witch Circe who is intend on revenge. And a bit part for Morrigan the queen of the Fae .
Enjoyable read that draws you in , you can't help hoping for a HEA for them even if it doesn't always seem possible .

Inconsistent

If you are going to go for a Scottish brough be consistent with it, don't switch between ye and you and others. It drove me crazy that every time Ellie spoke I didn't know what I was getting and couldn't move past it. I could have worked with either but the inconsistency of it made me stop reading.

Listen to the song.

There are plots and counter plots, problems and solutions. Just when you think you have it all figured out something changes. I couldn't put it down, so I had to finish it in one sitting. I am sure they'll get over dinner being late.

This was an interesting book but I felt like there were parts where something came up that wasn't there before. However, I could be wrong.
Overall it was an interesting idea and I'm getting the next couple for my Kindle Christmas haul.

Now I know what a Siren is.

It is interesting to watch different lores converge together in a story. When you think you are familiar with a mythical creature, your perspective gets blown away even bigger and brighter.
