Brock Tandell is the new Mayor of New Orleans. Most are envious of what he has and what he's accomplished, but he will defend his Mate and rebuild his city against all odds, especially when a group of Human Supremacists come after them!
Gia Carosa is about to start her new job, as the administrative assistant to New Orlean’s newly elected mayor, Brock Tandell. Brock’s life is already interesting enough, being a Bear Shifter and all, but it’s about to get downright exciting as an anti-shifter group turns violent.
There’s a natural divide between the paranormal and the human and mistrust is commonplace. So commonplace that The Human Order seems to have no trouble recruiting in its protest against shifters. But Brock and Gia will need to learn to trust each other in the face of unnerving odds if they are to escape this threat, and if there is going to be any chance of them finding love. Brock and Gia are left scrambling to defend their loved ones, and each other, in the face of a quickly growing threat that seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of them. To complicate matters the chemistry between them is sure to put “SCANDAL” in the headlines.
This full length bear shifter paranormal romance novel has all the action, steam and true love that only a Fated Mates story can deliver! I've included some other stories as my thanks to you.

Will continue on with the series but wasn't thrilled by this first book in the series. Nothing of it was very exciting to read but it was okay enough for me to try the next book.
Gonna love this new series, even though I'm a City girl from NY, I've always had a soft spot for that New Orleans accent...I think it is sexy as sin and these bears are going to make it more so.....
Shifters have just been outed in New Orleans and bear shifter Brock Tandell is a very public figure, he is Mayoral candidate of the City, but he still wins just weeks from being outed. When he is confronted with his new temp assistant, he is taken aback by what he feels at the sight of her, but more so when he is attacked for what he is by a group who is prejudiced against shifters.
Gia Carosa, doesn't need to work her father is CEO of a very successful company that she works for, but now she feels the need to expand her knowledge and what better knowledge than working in the political sector where her father secured her a job. She was there during the incident at the airport that outed the bear shifters, but Brock proves to be quite the southern gentleman and she begins to feel things that were long dormant. But worse than her feelings for her boss is the realization that she has been used by the last person she ever expected.
Gia starts a new job away from the family business to get more experience. She loves her family and working with her dad, but wants to experience different parts of the business world ready for when she takes her dad's place. When she goes to temporary work at the Mayors office as a admistrative assistant, she didn't quite expect what she got. Liking the Mayor more then she should when she is working and then having to deal with shifter hating terrorists. Also learning about shifters. Gia is such a loyal caring person, she won't abandon her Mayor when things get difficult.
Brock, mayor and Werebear, is trying to educate New Orleans on Shifters. People are weary but he is honest, actually quite a good Mayor who cares. When shifter haters target him and those around him he has to fight to show they are not the evil the terrorists are claiming shifters are. Not only has he got to handle the terrorist, protect humans and shifter, he has to figure how to keep his hands off his assistant. He wants to claim her but he has been betrayed by women before not being ok with his shifter side.
These two have such fun chemistry, which intensifies when things get dangerous. When it comes out who had been funding the shifter terrorists? Well I kind of hand a feeling who it would be, but it was still heartbreaking to read when it comes out. I feel for Jules, he is always going to be known as the airport bear. I hope he gets to show people he isn't a beast but a good guy. I adore Brock and how he thinks, plus he is hot. I enjoyed reading this and look forward to what Becca comes out with next.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is a different twist on shifters (at least for me). It seems that shifters came out around the mid-40"s and this story takes place in the present time. Brock Tandell just became mayor of New Orleans even though his bear shifter abilities are public knowledge. He is committed to getting society to accept shifters as entitled to the rights and privileges of anyone else. And he has his hands full in attempting to do so. The Human Order is a fanatical group dead set on destroying and and all shifters. Brock realizes that this group is getting financial backing from an unknown source. He just has to find out who that source is. In the meantime a new temporary personal assistant, Gia Carosa, joins his powerful company to fill in for his regular assistant Marsha. When these two meet the attraction is immediate. All well and good but the mayor job must take precedence. This book reflects a lot of the real world's conflicts: prejudice and intrigue just to name the primary ones. Gia is a no-nonsense gal who wants her own independence from her father. CEO Giancarlo Carosa is a mystery surprise in this story and his backstabbing ambition is hinted at but never really revealed until the story's end. This book really is a showcase of Ms. Fanning's writing ability and not one to be missed. I was very happy to give this review my honest opinion.
A young woman who has worked for her father since getting out of school knows she needs to get more experience before the time when her father retires or dies and she takes over. Expecting him to get angry when she tells him she is leaving , she is surprised when he agrees and tells her she starts at the company of billionaire bear shifter and newly elected mayor that afternoon. She is afraid to work for the shifter since she was at the station when a bear shifter loss control. From their first meeting they seemed to have feelings but both knew it had to be controlled as long as they were working together. So with shifter problems, attacks from groups against shifters, kidnapping, and more than one time against the terrorist. Attacks against Brock's personal businesses, his mayorship, Gia getting shot and their discovery of who is paying for the terrorist leads to their realizing how important they are to each other. Does have a very HEA ending.
The plot twists and drama in this story had me reading late into the night. I loved Gia and Brocks chemistry and fierce work ethic. No matter what was thrown at them they did their best to face it head on, professionally and steer their response to a peaceful resolution. So many questions through this story, why was Marsha taking a leave of absence? Who was behind this hate group? Would they succeed in spreading their chaos and hatred? Gia was a bad a** business woman who knew what she wanted in life, to succeed on her own merit. She was sassy and capable as well as attractive, a positive representation of a heroine. Brock was determined, passionate, caring and cunning, the perfect politician. His constant responses and focus on the positive and need for change while still taking care of the people most important to him in his life were just some of the many things that made him a fantastic mayor in times of conflict. I loved getting to learn about the shifter cultures and customs in this world set out by the author. A recommended read for lovers of all things shifter 😍
I always enjoy Becca Fanning's Bear shifter romance and this one is no exception, other than it's actually one of the better ones, with more depth to the story along with plenty of action in it and a nice twist at the end is what makes it even better than her normal books. Brock is a bear shifter and elected mayor of New Orleans, but this story takes place when shifters are only really beginning to be known to the humans and mistrust is prevalent, along with a hater group appearing out of the woodwork called The Human Order, and they don't care how they get their point across even when other humans are hurt in the process. Gia is human and has worked for her father since leaving school. She is also looking to prove herself by taking work elsewhere. Her dad persuades her to take the tempt post working as the personal assistant to the mayor whilst his assistant is way on personal business. I won't tell you anymore as I hate when reviewers spoil the story for other readers.
Gia works as her father’s personal assistant. She’s worked for him for a couple of years but wants to learn from someone new. He gets her a job at City Hall as the new mayor’s assistant. Brock is the first shifter elected as mayor of New Orleans. He is a billionaire and a bear shifter. When a group of anti shifters start trying to take out shifters, it puts Brock and Gia in danger along with any shifters in the country. Story was pretty good, some of the dialogue didn’t sound real. Sex, mystery and shifters.
Overall cute story. Simple love story involving a human and werebear and politics. Gia is needing more business experience and her dad can only teach her so much so he gets her a job working for the new New Orleans mayor. The mayor is a self professed shifter and because of his admission, a hate group targets him. Gia is caught in the middle of this political and violent occurrence. Helping to solve a crime mystery is one of the many things Mayor Brock and Gia do as they fight their attraction.
The new mayor is a shifter. His temp assistant just started working for him. But before the first week is done, a hate group against shifters has threatened him and shot her. And things only seem to get worse. But one thing they both can agree on but must ignore, is the deep attraction to each other.
The story has a lot of romance, a few hot scenes and some violence. A great start to a new series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Loved it!!! How can a person not love it. It was written by Ms. Fanning who writes fantastic shifter stories. The characters and plot were well developed. I look forward to reading more from the series.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves shifters. Brock is a true hero and Gia is the perfect woman for him.
Since I am an avid fan of anything based in New Orleans as well as a fan of the author I knew I was in for an enjoyable read. The book was more about the characters than their location but I really liked the story and the characters. Now I'm on to Book 2. If you like PNR you can escape for a bit in this one.
Brock is the new mayor of of New Orleans and a bear shifter. Gia works for her father and she decides she wants to branch and get more experience, so of father sets her up with Brock. She's not happy since her episode at the airport and a human changes into a bear. Little does she know what of father is capable of.
Kindle Unlimited shifter story about a man who has been betrayed by many and was outed by his ex girlfriend. She's his new assistant. He wants her and she wants him but how can they make it work when politics and family keep getting in the way?
book was pretty good cause u get this one plus two more short stories. in the first book, Brock is a bear shifter who just became mayor of the city. and of course there is the human order who doesn't believe that shifters should have anything to do with major things like that. when Gia goes to work that day she is going to tell her boss, who is her dad, that she is leaving to find something to give her more experience in her field of work. when she does he tells her he already has a new job for her. and surprise it's with the new mayor. cute first story was kind of ok story like my shifters more manly and able to pretect their mates. next story is mars, who is a MC biker and goes to a bar to give some woman a story on a gang that is selling human women. when they stare at each other that is over cause wow, mates! the story was cute like these biker guys better they r rough tough and will die for their mates.. last story is about a girl her brother and a ex football player.. wasn't into it to much.. sorry..
Brock and Gia couldn't make for a better couple. She started off not wanting to go work for Brock but in the end even after everything she was so glad she did. She got the man, the job and so much more. Wish real life could be like this lol. Great job as always.
I enjoy shifter books and this was a little different than the others I have read. Most have the animals knowing who their mates are, this didn't. I am pleased with your style of writing.
Definitely deserved 5+ stars great attention to detail with the exception of one word. Great romance story line with plenty off action. More like a shifter romance suspense novel just loved it looking forward to reading more off Becca's books
I wasn’t expecting much from a FREE book but it was great. Good story line, good background and world and great characters. I’m glad there is more to this series but wish it was about Brock and Gia.
What a delight to realize that there were three different stories in “Brock” not one. Each totally different from the others. Each with a great heroine and a shifter bear that considered himself undeserving of the fortune that fate bestowed upon him.
