A continuation of Melissa Haag's short story Escaping the Lutha comes its sequel, Facing the Lutha.

This novel is such a diamond hidden in the rough. It hasn't caught wind for some unimaginable reason, but let me tell you, it's gold! It strays away from the typical and stereotyped Male Alpha dominated werewolf stories. In this universe, the Alpha is a badass woman that GIVES POWER to her mate, and not the other way around! It is incredibly empowering to read!

The plot, as always, is such a treat. It flows nicely, everything having it's purpose and no useless fluff that fills pages until the good stuff happens. ALL of it is the good stuff! The characters are so unique and interesting, and seeing the dynamic between Tink and Rogan change from the first novella, where they were strangers transitioning to new mates, was so interesting. You get a glimpse inside this very mafia styled world where you do NOT want to piss of the Head Bitch of the household.

It was also amazing to see Tink interact with both her own people in the community she as created, as well as the Lutha and the community both her and Rogan have shunned. You get to meet new characters, like both Tink and Rogan's parents, and you get to witness how vastly different their childhoods were growing up!

Overall, it was a fast, easy, and yet AMAZING read. Don't let this book slip you by, its everything!

This story was off the chain HAWT!! I adore Tink and Rogan and cannot get enough of them. Facing The Lutha is a must read. The closeness and connection that they share is utterly amazing and Tink's self control for being so newly mated is astonishing to all who know her. Their one true power is each other and with that they can face anything! Do not pass up this second novelette in the Lutha Saga by MJ Haag!!

This was a short read at only 96 pages and I finished it within two days. This is the second short story in a series and it was... Well there was a lot of sex whereas the first book was just at the end. I'm not saying this to complain, it's just an observation at the biggest difference between the two books. I like the female werewolves being the most powerful, it was a wonderful take on werewolf heirarchy.

I think I'm in the minority here as I didn't like it as much as book one. I didn't like the atmosphere, the dialogue, Tink and Rogan, etc. Hopefully book three will build my faith in this series again.

It is not often that I find an author who completely sucks me into their story; to the point that I get so wrapped into it that my rational brain is even willing to ride in the backseat; allowing the writer to truly create a new world with their own set of rules. Melissa Haag has done this to me MANY times.

The Lutha Chronicles is different. This book picks up where the first left off. I liked the way this story plays out. I liked the fight for restraint, the passion and perspective of Tink. The interesting attitudes of the mothers and even the reigning Lutha. The matriarchal driven society causes me to cringe, treating the men like second class citizens and focusing only on power and position. Several actions and conversations sickened me. I really wanted Tink to lose it with her mother, who just didn't seem to get it. There are some deep conversations to be had about that alone.

The story is well written and flows smoothly. I do not recall grammatical errors or typos that would take away from the story. I thought the pacing was also appropriate. This series is not like anything I've ever read, but I'm not one that usually jumps on bandwagons to notice commonalities from more popular books. I have noticed that Haag has consistently constructed her own worlds with her imaginative twists that take a well used concept and develops it into something new and fresh. I look forward to reading more from this series and author.

If this series was too...weird for you, I do think you should try her Judgement of the Six Series.

Facing the Lutha by M.J. Haag is the second book in the Lutha Series, and happens to have a different take on the wolf shifter stories. I loved the concept! Women are the dominant gender.

It continued the story of Tink and Rogan. The very quirky, Tink, is tough, strong, caring and dedicated to her inner-city neighborhood. She had left behind her world and moved into a human city, but in this book, she must face her past.

Rogan is a great male lead and a hottie. He is strong, honorable and caring. He accepts that Tink is the woman in charge, but also knows when he needs to step up.

Tink and Rogan were awesome together. They have great chemistry. I loved that they rely on each other.

There’s a lot of action and the end of the books allows for more in the series, but leaves the reader satisfied if there isn’t another book. I love this author and have read all of her other books. This book was really good and I didn’t want it to end.

Ambrey and Rogan

First, let me say that I adore Melissa’s writing and creative genius. She’s been my favorite author since I read her first series, Judgement of the Six. She has a way of making you connect with her characters and that’s what we get again with Ambrey and Rogan. You can feel how fierce Ambrey/Tink is and how loyal Rogan is to her. You can almost physically feel that spark between them. Truly great continuance of the first book. I can’t wait to read what else is in store for them.

I really like this author, but this is third set of stories that start great and then kind of fail. There is lots of mystery, romance, intrigue in the first. The second is like a follow up. If she would have combined both books as one and didn't give it away, (I get that the first gets the reader to buy the second) It would have been a better book. The mated pair of Rogan and "Tink" present themselves before the Lutha, hoping that this will end peacefully. It makes me reluctant to start another series.

Book Two: Rogan and Tink

What a great 👍 addition to The Lutha Chronicles! This book gives the reader insight into the society in which Rogan and Tink fled and came from and did not wish to return. The development of the characters was outstanding. It was very interesting to meet and get to know the parents of Tink and Rogan also. The Lutha and her daughter, let's just say, Rogan has his reasons. A great HFN for Rogan and Tink but what of the girack?

I hated to see it end. Tink is awesome. Women power all the way. I love a good read about a strong woman. No crying and whining, just putting on your big girl panties and getting to job done. Her mate Rogan was also strong in his own right. Together a power couple. Once again thank you Melissa for another great read.

I really enjoyed this book! MJ Haag has created an interesting world, in this world women are the leaders and then men essentially do whatever their mates tell them. I am also hoping this isn't the end to Ambrey and Rogan's story, There are so many things I am waiting to learn about them :). Crossing my fingers there is more to come for them!

It picks right after the events on escaping the lutha book 1. And it delivers such a short gripping amazing action love story. Tink is so freaking awesome! She is not scared of anything or anyone and will protect the ones she loves at no cost. Even the queen of wolfs. Must read to conclude the chronicles!! Ps. Rogan is a bonus. Shes the cherry on top. Their chemistry makes you swoon.

Just when I thought I'd read every story take on the pack mentality, MJ Haag comes along and busts it up. I read several of the author's YA paranormals written under a different pen name and loved them. I thought I'd probably like her adult novels. I was right! This author writes kick ass female characters and it's so refreshing. Thank you! And five stars for the great story!

Tink saved Rogan from a forced mating to the Lutha's deranged daughter, but now she has to defend him. He's okay with leaving the old ways behind and living with her human community, but how is she going to survive if the Lutha gets him eliminated?
Can it get any better? Yes it can. I wonder when book 3 in the series is coming out.

I borrowed a copy from Kindle Unlimited.
Many gory details (such as how a beheaded would look like...), too many bedroom scenes - the story wasn't about that, so why put so much? Very dark all through. Two places were really funny but it might have been because I was so stressed. Finishes on a sort of cliffhanger but there is no more books afterwards. It is not for the faint of heart.

If you did not read book 1 of the series, stop and start with that or this book will make no sense to you.

This book is good, as expected from the author. It is very interesting to follow what happens with Tink and I am hoping for a third book in the series at some point.

This is a fantastic follow up to Escaping the Lutha and it's action packed. Melissa is skilled at writing novellas, she packs so much into this short story and it flows seamlessly. I really hope we see more of Rogan and Tink in the future.

I normally stay away from short stories, but this was a great quick read with a different twist on the mating role.

Wow, what a great story. Only thing I would have liked better- if it had been longer, I hated that it ended. But to fully appreciate this story, I believe you would need to start with the first story, "Escaping the Lutha". Definitely a fantastic continuation to the first story. It kept me riveted to my iPad even though I'm loopy on cold medicines. I couldn't put it down, fast paced with such a riveting story that twists in ways I didn't see coming. I still love Tink & Rogan, they are still quirky & very likable. So many things about this story were great, but I can't mention without spoiling it for other readers.

Tink knows someone in her neighborhood has been hurt, and she will figure out who did it before it is too late.

She and Rogan are enjoying being newly mated, and when they get a summons from the Lutha things get even more complicated.

They both are going to confront the past before it gets out of hand.

This book was okay. I enjoyed Rogan and Tink together, but I was wanting a little more to the story.

I did like how Tink showed what she was really made of, and I liked the plot line. I wish there was more to this series.

In Facing the Lutha, we see a side of Tink that we suspected of her at the end of Escaping the Lutha, her protective instincts extending from her home and neighborhood to the one she's claimed as her own, Rogan. But things aren't as easy as they should be for them. There is danger lurking in their small piece of society, something that is more frightening than anything they have faced. And we find that some of the things from the past are not as easy to let go of as one would believe.

As with all of the books I've read by Ms Haag, I found myself on the edge of my seat, experiencing a range of emotions and hungry to discover where her heroine was leading us.I think we're seeing a bit more of the author's brilliance each time she pens a new work. Every time I pick up one of her books, I find it almost impossible to set it down until I'm finished, and I'm looking forward to reading what she has in store for us next.

Facing the Lutha is such an exciting conclusion to The Lutha Chronicles, and I am very pleased that Haag completed the story that she began in Escaping the Lutha. The characters are fascinating… especially Tink.

The original installment was released as part of the collection Shifters and Spice, which featured stories from twenty different paranormal authors. Haag’s part of the collection is extremely well-written, and has now been released separately from that collection as Part 1 of The Lutha Chronicles.

Facing the Lutha, is well thought out, and the perfect conclusion to Tink’s and Rogan’s story. Haag adds complexity to their world, and creates thrilling new layers to Tink’s character.

I highly recommend The Lutha Chronicles to readers who love paranormal, shifter stories. 5 stars for Facing the Lutha.

Arya isn’t ready to let Rogan go and so she attacks a member of the community by way of revenge. Ambrey isn’t an easy target though, and it doesn’t take her long to figure out what she has to do. Unfortunately, in order to keep her community safe, she’s going to have to go home and face the Lutha.

I was excited for the release of this novella and I wasn’t disappointed. I moaned about the price in my last review, so I’m going to skip doing that again, as I do so hate to repeat myself. So… I loved Facing the Lutha and find myself hoping that book three won’t be far behind. Since we are still left with a few unanswered questions by the end of this story, I’m assuming there will be another instalment in the future.

Tink/Ambrey is a really interesting character. She still holds my interest and I still find myself wanting to know more about her. We get a glimpse of the life she ran from in this book, and while I can’t say I have much love for her mother, I can say that I appreciate her, as she made Ambrey who she is. Rogan’s family are lovely, and his mother provides the perfect contrast to Ambrey’s. I love the relationship between the pair and hope to see more from them as they settle into it.

Suggested Audience: Mature readers of Paranormal Romance
Perspective: First person, as told by the two main characters
Profanity: Infrequent
Sexual content: Frequent but not overly graphic
Violence: Frequent and descriptive in places

We're back with Tink and Rogan. Everything you read in Escaping the Lutha escalates in this one. I really enjoyed their dynamic. It's unique to this story, Tink is dominant but doesn't want to be. She's animalistic in nature, but again, doesn't want to be. Rogan is submissive and loving every second of it, and he bring out Tink's humanity, but it is because of him that she's reverting to her primal nature. Very interesting dynamic. There's a face-off with Rogan's supposed ex, and that's when the ish hits the proverbial fan.

It's an enjoyable but short read, definitely a good follow-up to Escaping the Lutha. My only complaint is the fight scene. It left me wanting more. :) But then I'm like that about most everything. I love me some MOAR!
