Hawke Family #2

Tortured Skye

Rate this book
***Tortured Skye is not a standalone and is best enjoyed after reading Savage Collision***

Falling in love with Gabe Anderson was as easy as breathing. Fighting my feelings for my brother’s best friend was agonizingly hard. I never imagined giving in to my desire for him would cause such a destructive ripple effect. That kiss was my grasp at a lifeline—something, anything to hold me steady in my crumbling life. Now, I have to suffer with the fallout while trying to convince him it’s all worth the consequences.

Guilt overwhelms me—over what I’ve done, the lives I’ve taken, and more than anything, over my feelings for Skye Hawke. Craving my best friend’s little sister is insanely self-destructive. It never should have happened, but since the moment she kissed me, I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind. If I take what I want, I risk losing everything. If I don’t, I’ll lose her and a piece of myself. The raging storm threatening to rain down on the city is nothing compared to the one that will come from my decision.

Love can be torture, but sometimes, love is the only thing that can save you.

My feelings are mixed regarding this story. I would like to point out the opening scene is hot AF! It's definitely worth cool points! Gabe is pierced yummmmmmmmyyyy! I don't think it should be considered a standalone, however. As a reader, I was a bit lost in certain scenes.

Tortured Skye is what I refer to as a taboo trend novel. Gabe, hero, falls for best friend little sister. Skye, the heroine, is in pain. Tragedy has struck and she is suffering. Her actions and attitudes in the first 40% of the novel are comparable to a young girl in mid to late teens. Imagine my shock to learn she is twenty-eight! Skye and Gabe had one brief encounter (previous story) that ended in disaster although they've always had feelings for each other. I could not buy into their HEA because of the cheating.

On a brighter note, McNamee spins one hell of a story. Barring my hard limit and pet peeve, it's a really decent story. Without the two issues, the story is a strong four star story. Unfortunately I can't ignore the cheating.

Tortured Skye gave me all the feels and also the hots.

Gwyn McNamee writing is exceptionally good, the plot sucks you in from the first chapter and keeps you fully engrossed until the last page.

Gabe and Skye's journey was a roller coaster of emotions,it is not so easy when you're attracted by your best friend's little sister.
If you've met Gabe in the first book of the series I'm sure you already love and appreciate him,Skye on the other hand will surprise you showing for the first time her mind and heart.

I need next book in the series like yesterday...I'm so curious about Stone's story.

Tortured Skye, A Hawks Family Novel, by Gwyn McNamee. This is the 2nd book in the Hawke Family Series and it was most definitely a 5 star read for me!! It had everything I love in a book, love, drama, laughs, tears and most importantly we can not forget really good sex.
Skye Hawke has been in love with Gabe Anderson since she was 16. Gabe Anderson is best friends with Savage Hawke, Skye’s protective older brother. Gabe is practically part of the Hawke family. Except the feelings he has towards Skye are anything but brotherly. The last thing either one of them wants is to destroy the bond between Gabe and Savage but is true love worth the risk to gain the biggest and best reward of your life?
Skye has always had this pull towards Gabe but with the loss of her sister, the pull became stronger. She knows what and who she wants, and it is Gabe. She will do anything and everything to be with him, even if it means losing her brother. Gabe has been there for the Hawke family through thick and thin and doesn't want to lose the only people he considers his family. He helped Savage and Dani and now look at them, they are happily married and expecting, after everything Gabe has done in his life, doesn't he deserve the same happiness.?
I could not put this book down from page 1. The dynamics between Gabe and Skye kept me glued to the pages, waiting to see what was going to happen next. If you haven't read Savage Collision, I think you should do you can better understand the story. We also get a glimpse into Stone and he has somethings going on in his little world to. I can not wait to see what is going to happen there.
I am hoping that you love this book as much as I did!!!

Tortured Skye is the second book in, The Hawke Family series. It's written by Gwyn McNamee. This is a great series. I would recommend reading book one, Savage Collision first. Skye Hawke is in love with Gabe Anderson. It was so easy for her to fall in love with Gabe. But Gabe is her brother's best friend. She has loved him for so long, she tries to fight her feelings for Gabe. But she can only take so much. Skye ends up kissing Gabe. She just needs Gabe, like she needs her next breathe. Skye's life isn't going so well, she's suffering. She wants Gabe more than anything. Gabe already, has so much going on, he living with guilt for what he did. His life isn't going as planned either. But one day, Skye kissed Gabe, and now he's more confused than ever. Gabe has feeling for Skye. He craves her. Gabe wants her, but she is his best friend's little sister. But he can't get Skye out of his head. He feels guilty for letting this with Sky get so far. Gabe does not want to let Skye go, but he could lose everything. Wow! This book is filled with so much emotions. Felt like I was on a emotion roller coaster. I could not put this book down. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. To find out more about this great book. I recommend purchasing it. You will not regret it. This is a great story. I really enjoyed it. Thank you, Gwyn McNamee. Great work on this book. I am looking forward to reading more from you. 5 Stars! :)

This was my first book by Gwen and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. We meet Skye and Gabe who are dancing around their feelings for each other but Gabe is not sure if the risk with worth the reward. Whereas Skye is confident that it will all work out. Follow them on this journey of ups and downs to see who has the right conclusion. This book is full of the feels and some seriously sexy scenes. Enjoy. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Tortured Skye is the second book in the Hawke Family series. Skye Hawke and Gabe Anderson we're first introduced in Savage Collision. After years of avoiding each other, Skye does the inevitable and it changes everything. When Gabe finds out how she truly feels, he struggles to let it go any further because his best friend is her brother. He secretly feels the same way about her. Because of his stubbornest, it makes things extremely difficult and at times life threatening. If you thought Savage and Dani's relationship in Savage Collision was hot, Skye and Gabe's relationship is off the charts smoking HOT!!! My favorite scene is at the club, in Gabe's office when he didn't know Skye was watching. Oh yeah!!! This story is full of surprises. From beginning to end, I couldn't put it down. I loved it! I can't wait to read Stone's story next. <3

Gwyn knows how to get me in the feels. In Tortured Skye she brings us once again into the world of the Hawke family, this time with Skye Hawke and Gabe Anderson. If you think this is your typical best friends' sister, forbidden romance, you'd be wrong. If you've not read a Gwyn book before, nothing is as it ever seems. This story is sexy, thrilling, funny and emotional. For the full experience of Tortured Skye, I'd suggest reading Savage Collision. They are interconnected. 5 stars aren't enough for this book.

Tortured Skye is the second book in the Hawke Family Novels Series by the supremely talented Gwyn McNamee. It is a very spicy and erotic contemporary romance that will tantalise you from the very first page and hold you enthralled right till the end.
Skye Hawke comes across as snarky, sassy, hot-headed, independent and a little on the stubborn side- but most of that is a façade she puts up to hide her pain and vulnerability. You see, Skye has endured a heartache that most people could never fathom and more often than not it takes all her energy to just get through each day. She harbours a lot of guilt for what transpired and living with this regret is slowly devouring her soul, piece by piece.
She was attending a special family function where everyone was so joyous in their celebration- which only serves to remind Skye of everything she had lost, and caused all her suppressed feelings to come bubbling to the surface, all at once- triggering an overwhelming emotional meltdown. Skye feels like she’s barely holding on, her life is crumbling around her like sand banks pounded by the ocean. She is distraught, completely adrift in her private sea of pain and desperate to tether herself to something before she is completely swept away. Then in walks the man she’s felt a powerful connection to for so long now. The man she has had a crush on since she was a teenager. She clings to him and kisses him passionately, and felt him kiss her back…..but then he just walked out, leaving her there in pain and now also suffering the sting of rejection. She has avoided him ever since, but how long can that last. After all he is her brother’s best friend and an honorary member of their family.
Gabe Anderson has his own demons that haunt his days and torture his nights. This has led him to ‘self-medicate’ on a prescription of alcohol and sex. He doesn’t do commitment, just a lot of hooking-up. He has always been closer to the Hawke’s, than his own family and values his friendship with Savage. Gabe has always felt a strong bond between himself and Skye- and appreciated that she had grown into a beautiful woman, but had never really thought about it- until that kiss. Now he can’t get her out of his mind and the memory of it is consuming him.
He feels that he would be risking everything- completely jeopardising his relationship with Savage, as well as his job and his heart - if he were to get involved with Skye. He also feels that because of his demons, he isn’t worthy of her. But now that he’s had a taste of her lips, he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to resist her.
With other factors at play in this story, as well- Ms. McNamee masterfully wove a story that absorbed me to a point where reality ceased to exist. I would love to tell you more, but I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you- so please do yourself a favour and discover the wonderful world of the Hawkes for yourself- you really won’t be disappointed.
Even though we met Skye in the first book, we didn’t really get to know her very well. I had decided that I didn’t really like her very much- but since getting to understand her more from this story, I really have come to appreciate her and think that she and Gabe really are a perfect match. I loved Gabe from the moment he is introduced in the first book, he intrigued me and I wanted to know more about him. This book gave me all the answers I was looking for, plus some.
Ms. McNamee has a real talent for writing with emotion and the ability to connect her readers to the story and characters. I felt for Skye and Gabe and everything they’d been through- and I was with them every step of the way as this story transpires….. There’s so much emotion that at times Ms. McNamee had me free-falling through the spectrum of feelings, like a base jumper chasing an adrenalin high. Wow, what a ride!
One thing Ms. McNamee seems to be able to do better than most, is a raunchy, spine tingling, knee tremblingly HOT sex scene- and this story sure doesn’t disappoint. You have been warned, spare panties will be required!
I have said it before and I say it again, Gwyn McNamee should be on everyone’s MUST READ list- her books really ARE that good. She has found her place on my favourite author list and I can’t wait to devour her next book.

Thank you Ms. McNamee!

I fell in love with Gabe in Savage Collision, and was excited when he got his own book. The forbidden romance between Gabe and Skye is heady and will leave you wanting more. Filled with excitement and angst, this book will, like Savage Collision, leave you breathless. Get McNamee has done it again. I can't wait for the next in the series.

Tortured Skye: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 2)
By: Gwyn McNamee
5 out of 5 stars

The story Tortured Skye: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee is the second book in the Hawke Family saga. It revolves around the romance between Gabe Anderson and Skye Hawke. It all started with a kiss. A kiss that brings conflicted feelings and guilt. Skye has always felt a connection between her and Gabe and when she acts on these feelings she is crushed when he pushes her way. Gabe knows that it is asking for trouble, falling in love with his best friend’s sister. Savage has always been like a brother to him, so how can he start a relationship that he knows will tear their friendship apart? Will Skye and Gabe continue to fight their feelings for one another or will they throw caution to the wind to be together?

This book is amazing! I loved the first book, Savage Collision, and this second book is just as awesome. I love that author’s writing style and she makes the characters come alive. This story shows that we can’t always control who we fall in love with, so you have to make a decision on either hanging on to love or letting it go. I absolutely love the characters of Gabe and Skye. Skye is still in pain because of the death of her twin sister. She feels guilt over his sister’s death and lashes out at everyone, always making her feelings known and causing conflict within her family. She is also hurt that when she makes her feelings known to Gabe he pushes her away. This causes a rift between them. Skye knows that Gabe is conflicted regarding their relationship and also finds that he has demons from his past that torture him. Is she willing to hang on to Gabe and convince him that their love is worth the consequences it brings?

Gabe is the best friend and business partner with Savage. He is a loyal friend and business partner. He has shown this time and again, even putting his life and well-being on the line. Gabe is also well known as a player. However, his feelings for Skye are so intense that he finds himself not able to push her away anymore. He knows what is going to happen when the truth comes out. Gabe’s life has never been easy. The Hawke family took him in and treats him like he is one of them. He has his demons from the past and is constantly trying to rid himself of them. Is he ready to put everything on the line and hold onto the woman that he loves?

I don’t think that I have all the correct words to properly explain why I love this book and series so much. The deep emotions that I feel when reading this book sometimes overwhelmed me. That to me shows that the writer has touched my heart and soul. If you haven’t read the first book in the series I have to recommend you do so. It introduces Skye and Gabe as well as the other Hawke family members and I feel is the foundation of the series. Just reading these two books I already feel like the characters are friends that I want to drop in on from time to time and catch up on their lives. I can’t wait to see which family member the author writes about next. This book does have adult themes and situations which would make this a book for those 18 years of age or older.

Tortured Skye:A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 2) By Gwyn McNamee

Tortured Skye is the second book in the Hawke Family series.I loved this story,it's packed full of ,love, trust, forgiveness, and little suspense. From the very beginning to the very end I absolutely had a hard time putting it down. In this story  it's about Skye Hawke and Gabe Anderson.who both are extremely attracted to each other Can they fight off and overcome this attraction?

Skye has been in love with Gabe since she was sixteen years old,her attraction for Gabe only grows stronger as she gets older. At her brother Savage and Dani's wedding she literally has a breakdown, she's missing her twin sister terribly bad,Gabe finds her and Skye all but attacks him.He wants to comfort her but then there's the kiss,he fights himself to back off.i mean this is his best friends little sister. The Hawke Family pretty much is his family.Skye grows very tired of Gabe ignoring her she can't get him out of her mind He pushed her away and she's a little hurt. Can they get past the hurt and move forward?Gabe is and has been in Skye life for as long as he can remember. He pretty much lived at the Hawke house.Him and Savage are not only best friends but also work together as well.Gabe can't get that night of the wedding out of his mind. He's constantly thinking about Skye, but he keeps talking himself down.its his best friends sister.Hes so worried Savage will not be happy with him or Skye.He decides he's going to go and talk with Skye thinking this will get her out of his system. Boy is he wrong, once he arrives at her place neither one can keep their hands off the other. The sex is off the charts Gabe feels guilty for not saying anything to Savage. There's a bit of suspense .Can Gabe  forgive himself enough to move forward with Skye?I loved this story and the characters had amazing chemistry. There both hard headed and stubborn. This is a must read especially if you want to know what happens with Skye and Gabe.I absolutely look forward to reading more from this author.

Tortured Skye is the second book in the Hawke family series by Gwyn McNamee and this author has done it again! Absolutely outstanding! Her first book Savage Collision was one of my top reads of 2016 and this one was just as good! I was hooked from the opening page, her writing is just infectious, and I loved every second of what I was reading. I still can’t believe this is only the author’s second novel – she is truly one talented person!
So onto the book – yes you could read this book as a standalone, it’s easy to follow but in all honesty I would definitely recommend reading Savage Collision first because firstly there are spoilers in this book that could ruin the big story line from that book if you haven’t read it and secondly it is also an AMAZING read! This book is told from both characters POV.
We saw Gabe feature quite a lot in the first book being Savage’s best friend and I liked him so I couldn’t wait to read his story and he didn’t disappoint! He was super-hot and I mean SUPER HOT!! Due to the fabulous descriptive writing in this book it’s not hard to imagine exactly what Gabe looks like! I loved that we were able to read things from Gabe’s POV; it really enabled me as a reader to understand him more.
Skye was a funny character for me, I liked her even if I did find her frustrating at times but then again I can’t understand the pain she is going through. I think as the story progressed I liked her more. She has loved Gabe for as long as she can remember and the pain of his rejection is hard for her to cope with. I do think her and Gabe were a perfect match though!
I loved reading about Gabe and Skye’s relationship – it wasn’t an easy one for them and it certainly had its ups and downs but it was a fantastic read! It was full of emotion and heartbreak but also a lot of hotness! I am sorry to say though Savage is still my favourite!
I really have truly fallen in love with this series and I can’t wait for the next one in the series! I wholeheartedly recommend this book and the first one – they are truly amazing reads!

Tortured Skye by Gwen McNamee a breath-taking five-star read. This is the second book in the Hawke family series. It follows on from Savage Collision, a book that when I get asked for a book recommendation no matter the genre they read I tell them that Savage Collision is a must read, I now have two to go on about. I get asked all the time for recommendations and very rarely will I recommend a book, I love reading, and I enjoy most books so found it hard to decide on one, until this series.
Skye Hawke was devastated four years ago, along with the rest of her family, a family that includes her brothers best friend Gabe Anderson who has always been a part of her life, and a member of the family. After what happens none of them will ever be the same again. Skye has been working hard as a nurse practitioner at a small clinic attached to a larger hospital that her friend with benefits Lucas works at, a way to work out the stress she is dealing with on a daily basis, at least that’s the way she sees it. Sky sees this as the only type of relationship she can have, as she can’t have the man she has wanted for the last 12 years, Gabe. One fateful kiss at a wedding is all she can have with him. Despite how hard she tries to change his mind.
Gabe Anderson feels many things, guilt being the most overwhelming. Guilt of wanting his best friend’s little sister, guilt of killing people as a soldier and protecting those he loves. Guilt if not being able to be there for the oncoming storm, and not just the hurricane that’s about to make land. Will Gabe be able to accept the consequences if he decides he can’t live his life without Skye? will love conquer all? Or will they decide it’s not worth the fight and torture they will face?
I can’t wait for Stone sober the third book in the Hawke Family series cannot come quickly enough for me. If its half as good as the first two books in the series I will be amazing. Gwen McNamee is a great writer, it’s not just the content that she writes, it’s how she writes it, she has a unique talent to write character’s that you want in your life, and people who you miss when they aren’t around anymore, the interactions between people are also very realistic and true. You need this book and this series in your life.

Tortured Skye written by Gwyn McNamee
5 stars

This is the second book in the Hawke Family Series. As the author recommends (hello she knows what's she's talking about) you should definitely read Savage Collision first. It will explain the dynamics of characters, references and part of the storyline in Tortured Skye. You'll want to get to know the characters from book one once you fall in love with them in Skye's story as well. I'm so excited that there are at least two more books in this series...crossing my fingers for more.

I love the Hawke family's loyalty, protectiveness, struggles and strengths. They are a close family of siblings with a mom that holds them together along with a childhood friend Gabe who is an honorary Hawke.

Gabe has grown up with Skye and has known she's off limits being she is his best friends little sister. He has struggled with his feelings for her for years, but loves her and would protect her with his life as he wound any of the Hawke family members.

Skye has been through an incredible loss and is finally coming out the other side. She went through a dark period of lashing out and trying to protect herself from any further pain and heartache. She is going after what she wants….and Gabe has been in her heart for years. Skye knows Gabe is afraid of what her older brother Savage would think and she's determined to break through those walls he's built up.

When Skye and Gabe are near each other there is chemistry, understanding, friendship, frustration, guilt, obsession and desire that is off the charts. They both are struggling with issues from their past and there is quite the push and pull between the two of them. While Skye is trying to get through to Gabe she finds herself in the middle of another disaster. Gabe has always saved her in the past, but will his determination to stay away from her bring more devastation to the Skye family?

Tortured Skye
By Gwyn McNamee

Five Stars

Tortured Skye by Gwyn McNamee is the second book in this series and another amazing book. Not only did you get to see all your favorite characters but you really get to know Skye. Someone you had wondered more about in the first book. (Savage and Dani’s book you see her off and on.)

PLUS you get to really see more of Gabe, the beloved best friend of Savage. I don’t know about others but Gabe was someone that I absolutely fell in love with in the first book. Not that I thought that he would start some love triangle but I loved him so much that I was glad that book two was about him mostly. You got to see Gabe shine in this book!

The book is not all hearts and sunshine (did you expect it from a story with Gabe in it?) But you really get to see how their story unfolds. Skye is not just the little sister in this book but you get to see her as a person. Her work life is something you can tell is important to her in the first book, and you get to see that in motion in the second book.

Skye is young you can tell in the book but there is something more. You can tell from the beginning that there was something there between her and Gabe. Gabe attempting to do the right hting tries to fight it. And does everything to push Skye away. Skye knows how much that Gabe means to her older brother and tries to fight it too.

You can tell they are soulmates.
They love each other even in the beginning. I did not like how some of the stuff went down but love is messy sometimes and this is no exception.

I loved this book even more than the first book. You get to see Savage and the control freak he always is. You get to see Dani, be well Dani. You get to see some more of Storm of course and you kind of wonder what is going on with Stone. Hoping and praying another book comes out because I am really, really wanting to get to know more of Stone. He is such a mystery!

Keep it up Gwyn, you are doing amazing with this freaking series!

Gabe is Savage's best friend and business partner. He is basically part of the family. Skye is Savage's baby sister, and Star's twin, the family member they lost years ago. Skye has loved Gabe for years and he finally woke up and started to see her in a different light but man that boy is freaking stubborn! I was like really, i just wanted to shake him through most of the book because no matter what happened he kept saying they couldn't be together.
Just like the last book there is some action and serious surprises throughout the story and it definitely kept my interest. Filled with excitment and hot sex,the forbidden romance between Gabe & Skye wilI leave you wanting more and having a hard time putting this book down.
Gwyn McNamee has written a amazing story that will capture you from the first page and keep you in until the last.

Tortured Skye by Gwyn McNamee is the second book in the Hawke Family Saga. This books finds us some time after Savage Collision and some things may have changed in the family but the heat that Gwyn McNamee gives with her writing is definitely something that has NOT changed in the least.

We find ourselves finally learning more about Skye Hawke and what drives her. She has always been considered the irresponsible twin, the one most likely to mess up. She is snarky even with her own family and although she portrays a certain aloofness and cold exterior, she is much more than that inside.

“And I need this. I want this more than my next breath right now.” The need is what this story is all about. The want…the must have…it drives everything these two do in their lives.
Gabe Anderson is her oldest brother’s best friend. He may not be a Hawke but he was essential raised as one. Having feelings for this man is wrong in so many ways. Gabe has demons….so many demons that drive him away from any real relationship. He does not do permanence. He will be loyal to his friends, to his Hawke family but otherwise wishes to remain unencumbered. That is until Skye kisses him. Now he finds his world turning on its axis and he doesn’t know what to do. He risks losing everything, his family, his best friend, his career, his heart, himself and quite possibly his life.

Skye knows what she wants and she wants Gabe. Gabe has been in her life for so long. He has always been there whenever she or her sister Star, or anyone in her family has needed him. Although she knows Savage will be upset, it never dawns on her that one simple kiss could cause this destructive ripple effect.

Do these two have what it takes to weather the storm that is coming their way? Is it love? And is love enough?

Tortured Skye: A Hawke Family Novel ( The Hawke Family, book 2 )
By Gwyn McNamee
5/5 Stars

This is the second book in The Hawke Family series. I do suggest you read Savage Collision first. But you could probably read this book and understand what's going on. But why would ya do that? If you could read the first one beforehand and get to know the characters better. You'll love the characters, just as much as I do!
Now, let me tell you…. I have been waiting for this book for months. I absolutely loved Savage Collision!! I couldn't wait to read the second book in the series, to see what happens next. I was thrilled to finally be able to read this book!! I did love it, just as much as the first one!!
Skye Hawke is a deeply broken soul. She hides behind liquor and animosity towards anyone who approaches her. She is used to hiding her pain and anger from everyone. But only one person, can truly see her… can see her pain and anguish… Gabe Anderson.
Gabe Anderson is Skye’s brother, Savage’s, best friend. Savage and Gabe have been best friends, well.. since forever. He helped Savage at his lowest point in life.( Now Savage, is married and expecting his first child) . But Gabe has demons of his own. A troubled past, he tries to bury with booze and sex.
Skye has secretly loved Gabe since she was just sixteen years old. But he's forbidden!! Because he IS her brother’s best friend. But the connection and chemistry is undeniable!!
Can two broken souls find love, once and for all? Or will their pasts come back to haunt them ?? Sometimes, love truly does conquer all!!
You must read this book ( and series ) !! You won't be disappointed, I promise you that!! I will now patiently wait for the third book!! Well, I'm hoping for a third book anyways!! Wonderful job, Gywn!! Xxx

Tortured Skye- Gwyn McNamee

5 Stars Review

Tortured Skye is another 5 stars book! It is the second book in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. It starts off exactly where Savage Collision left off, and it is told in both the main characters POV’s. Honestly I loved this book so much more than Savage Collision, which is saying a lot. This was such a fabulously written story and so many tears were shed while reading this one.

This story follows Skye Hawke and Gabe Anderson. We were introduced to both of these characters in Savage Collision. Skye is an incredibly feisty no nonsense kind of gal. She has been in love with Gabe (her older brothers best friend) for so many years. And after a night she’ll never forget she really starts to pursue him. While Gabe feels the same way he doesn’t want to risk his friendship with Savage and tries to push Skye away. However, Skye isn’t one to be easily pushed away, she stands her ground and lays it all out there. Both Gabe and Skye are battling their own demons but will need to decide together if they should risk it all for their relationship and future.

I definitely didn’t like Skye in the beginning of this book. She seemed so cranky, cold, and ungrateful. I felt so frustrated reading her parts in the beginning. Even though I felt so strong with my anger towards her she managed to change my mind over time. She definitely grows on you. And eventually I really started to like her. Now Gabe on the other hand was a totally different story, I liked him from the very start. That being said he definitely has his moments where you want to knock some sense into him but ultimately he had my heart!

This was an incredible story and I loved every minute of it! I can’t wait to continue reading this series with the release of Stone Sober in Summer 2017!

Another amazing 5 Star book about the steamy Hawke men!!
Gwen McNamee did it again! This book has all the feels, hot steamy scenes love, and action to keep you guessing and at a constant struggle with the urge to throw your kindle across the room. Tortured Skye is the second book in The Hawke Family series. I can see where it could be read as a stand-alone but would highly recommend that the first book Savage Collision is read first. Some points in the book will make more sense and well this series is just that good! This picks up about a year after the first one ended, with Skye and Gabe as the main focus. Skye is Savage’s baby sister and Gabe is his best friend. Skye is very much treated by all the family as the baby, one to treat with kid gloves as if she may break. Having lost her twin in a tragic accident doesn’t help matters. Gabe is ex-military, and has major ptsd issues. He is barley keeping it together and turning to his form of coping, booze, girls, and ink. Gabe has always been there for all of the Hawke kids but he’s especially had his eye on Skye. “You’ve always been my rescuer. You’ve always been there for me, even when you were thousands of miles away. I need you now more than ever.” Can Skye and Gabe help each other? “Whatever is happening, it’s part of why he’s fighting this so hard. It’s not just because of Savage. There’s something deeper there, something that’s eating away at him. He’s not talking to me about it. I think part of him still sees me as the immature, irresponsible, little girl he used to rescue whenever we would get in trouble.” Or will they just end up tearing each other apart more than before? Will it tear the entire family apart? This book will be one you can’t put down!

Tortured Skye: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee

Please, please, please read Savage Collision (Book 1) first. This is one of those series that you really want to read in order. Also, please note that in my first review I said Savage was my new book boyfriend, well I’ve moved on. Gabe Anderson is now my book boyfriend (Sorry Savage).

Skye Hawke has had some tragedy in her life and has worked like the dickens to overcome and move on. It’s not easy and everyone looks at her just a little differently. Skye is a grown woman who still has some bratty tendencies. She is a professional in the work place and is still trying to find her “new place” in her family. Her new reality is a little hard for her to take sometimes because of guilt and part of her soul being missing.

Gabe understands about soul connections because he and her brother Savage have a similar connection. Herein lies the problem. Skye is Gabe’s best friend’s little sister. Ruh roh - you see where this is going, right? Gabe served several tours of duty, suffers from PTSD as well as a few other issues and tries really hard to work on himself and move on in his life. He knows right from wrong and struggles with decisions.

I was so excited to read this book. I just knew there was a story behind Gabe and what makes him tick. I was not disappointed in even one page of this story.

Once again, I go on record as saying Gwyn McNamee must be a pen name. Her sophomore book does not read as someone who is still honing her craft. If this really IS only her second book as a writer, I cannot imagine how awesome Stone’s book will be. I will wait patiently for the next book in The Hawke Family Series.

Tortured Skye is the second book in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn NcNamee.
Skye has been in love with Gabe for years. The problem with that is that Gabe is her older brother’s Savage best friend and if anything ever happened between them he wouldn’t be happy and that is putting it mildly! Skye can’t keep it to herself anymore and finally has a mind blowing kiss with Gabe, it’s so hot that neither can forget it. Gabe feels guilty, so much guilt he can hardly look at Savage who is not only his best friend nut his business partner as well. He tries everything he can to stay away from Skye but he can’t stop thinking about that kiss and the more he tries the harder it is. If he gives into his feeling he knows he will not only loose Savage as his best friend but also Skye’s family who is the only family he has ever known. Can Skye convince Gabe that the two of them together is worth the risk and will Gabe finally take the leap?
This is the second book I’ve read by Gywn McNamee and although I enjoyed the first one I absolutely love this second instalment. The chemistry between Gabe and Skye is off the charts and the sex scenes that Gwyn wrote were so good they had me heavy breathing with the couple.
At times I felt like punching Gabe and others I wanted to kiss him but all in all I totally loved him. I really recommend reading this story and leaving yourself time to read it because if your anything like me you’ll be reading it in one sitting and forgetting all your other responsibilities. I definitely feel you need to read the first part, Savage Collision to truly understand what’s going on in some parts of the story. I can’t wait for the next one to come out!

Tortured Skye by Gwyn McNamee
5 Stars

Tortured Skye is the the second book in this series by Gwyn McNamee. I really loved this book since it drew me in from page one and I didn't put it down until the end. I would recommend reading book 1, Savage Collision before reading this as it does contain spoilers revealed in book 1.
Skye Hawke has been the hurt, defensive and dark sibling in the Hawke family. After the loss of their sister, all members of the family feel the loss, but for Skye, she lost her best friend and confidant. Turning to work, she is just going through the days with a chip on her shoulder. Harboring feelings for her brothers best friend Gabe doesn't make things any easier since he's always around. When the feelings become too much she finds a friend with benefits to take away the ache for Gabe that she'll never be able to rid herself of. After fighting feelings for so long, Gabe and Skye finally give into the attraction and then feel guilty because they know Savage will never understand. Will Skye get to keep her long time crush and her family or will the have to pick sides?
Gabe has been part of the Hawke family for as long as he can remember. He's kept his distance from Skye as she's forbidden, since she's his best friends sister, but that doesn't stop the feelings stirring inside. When Skye's friends with benefits turns out to be not such the nice guy they thought, Gabe is sent on a wild chase in a storm to find her. Can Gabe keep his girl and his friend or will he have to choose?
This book had it all, drama, love, a little crazy and a whole lot of steamy bedroom scenes! I can't wait to read more of the Hawke family!!

"Love can be torture, but sometimes, Love is the only thing that can save you."
Skye Hawke is struggling with her sister Star's death. She often blames herself for the accident thinking that if she was with her and Savage maybe it would not have happened. She feels so lost and alone at Savages wedding, the first event since Star's death. Gabe finds her on the patio broken down so be scoops her up thinking she needs to rest so he takes her to his room. Skye clings to Gabe, she has loved him for most of her life but never acted on those feelings until now. Skye says Gabes name and he realizes what's about to happen and she reaches up and kisses him before he can react Skye kisses him. She needs him in that moment and he bolts from the room leaving her hurt and heartbroken. That kiss changes everything for them they just don't realize it yet.
Gabe Anderson grew up with the Hawke family and Gabe is his best friend, business partner and the brother he never had. He knew getting into a relationship with Skye would be all kinds of messed up, and would end up hurting the family that took him in, and it would devastate Savage. Gabe was afraid he wwould loose everything that was important to him and he tried his best to stay away from Skye. Skye was always afraid Gabe would always see her as Savage's little sister. Will these two be able to save each other and get past their fear of hurting their family and what everyone would think. Will they be able to survive the fallout that is sure to come especially from Savage.
This is my first book from Gwyn McNamee and I loved loved loved it. Cannot wait to read what else she writes.

The serious book hangover that I'm currently suffering has me very emotional as I write this review. Like I mean very intense angst that kept my heart lodged in my throat the whole time, while my eyes leaked a time or two. Skye has been in love with her brother's best friend, Gabe, since she was sixteen, but he never gave her the time of day. As adults things were getting a bit dicey everytime they are in the same room, so he does his best to keep her at arms length by hurting her. And as she tries to move on, he is telling her that he misses her. Will Skye ever convince Gabe that they are perfect together without destroying her heart in the process? The push and pull of Gabe tried to kill me, and I wanted to junk punch him more than once, for his crazy decisions at how to try and push her away. Their chemistry was palpable, and seeped out of my kindle, which led to some serious sizzling sexy scene goodness guaranteed to melt panties everywhere. I love Gwyn McNamee's talented writing style, as she had me fully captivated cover to cover, ready to beg for more when the last page came way too fast. Between the serious HEAT, and intense angst, there are some big twists that had me screaming f-bombs in every direction, and it took everything in me not message this author with colorful metaphor name calling. I cannot wait to see what she puts out next, so I'll leave you with this, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Tortured Skye to ALL!

Tortured Skye: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee is a hot romance that I gave 4 out of 5 stars. I feel that you really need to read this series in order to appreciate the history/connections between the characters, but it could be read as a stand-alone as well. This novel is written in alternating first person POVs by the two main characters: Gabe and Skye. This is the tale of their love.

Ahh forbidden romance, one of my favorite tropes! Skye is hot for her older brother’s best friend, and it is beyond mutual. It all comes crashing down when they kiss, and now the desire between them is practically obsessive. They attempt to fight through the haze of lust to see reason. Gabe is better at denying her, he thinks that any relationship between them would be doomed-and he would lose too much in the process. Skye is all in-she is optimistic that their love can defy all odds. Skye is also an emotional mess after tragedy befalls her family, and she needs something/someone-to help save her from her pain. Can Gabe become her light in the dark? Can they defy the odds? And what will happen when Savage finds out?

This book is everything: hot, steamy, frustrating, hopeful, and sad. The author knows how to emote, and hands down-you feel ALL the feels while reading! So good, it was read in one sitting! I really loved the first novel, and was a huge fan of these characters from the start. The characters are very relatable, and vividly written. The plot is fast paced, and leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the Hawke family!

Tortured Skye is book two in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. As I expected, these stories just seem to get better, with each story as unique and perfect as the one before it. It is really hard getting back to reality after reading a Gwyn McNamee story. I read with my emotions, so these stories just get to me on a whole different level, which is rare and so precious to me. They really are the ultimate escape to paradise.

Skye and Gabe are a couple that intrigue me. Skye loved Gabe for a long time, and Gabe felt he had no business having these deeply ingrained feelings for Skye. But no one can fight the inevitable. Their attraction is deep. Their attraction erotic and endless. The way they handle their sizzling chemistry will leave you breathless. The dynamic between the two is the most arousing. Their very essence drew me in and had me a bundle of nerves, as I i never quite knew what they would throw out next. It was a gift to read their exciting and boldly dramatic tale.

The further I get into this series, the more bittersweet it is. I cannot wait to read all the stories, but at the same time, never want to reach the end. I don't want this crazy ride to ever end. I am in a constant state of delirious joy at revealing each character and the story the have to tell. It becomes an addiction that gets satisfied but I am still endlessly curious as to what happens next. Always a pleasure reading this author's work. 5 stars.

Tortured Skye
Gwynn Mcnamee

Gabe wakes to find the remnants of last nights one night stand trying to bring it home again. Instantly he kicks her out and jumps in the shower. He has a barbeque and as much as he doesn't want to be there he knows that Skye will be there, and ever since he rejected her at Savage and Dani’s wedding he can’t get her off his mind. For Skye she can't ignore the electricity flowing between the two of them she knows when Gabe enters the room even if she can’t see him and today is no different. Soon though she is storming out and into Lucas’ awaiting car, he’s not boyfriend material but he is great for blowing off steam.

They play the sexiest game of cat and mouse there is they both want each other, and they both know it. Neither of them are willing to take that blind leap and just go for it. Finally at midnight Gabe takes matters into his own hands and shows up at her door step and those fires they had burning for each other turn into a raging inferno. Even worried about what they are going to tell the family Skye almost ruins it when she answers Gabe's phone the next morning when Savage calls instantly she has to come up with an excuse. Gabe’s PTSD returns full force with the new relationship, he thinks that Skye is the cause of it and tries to push her away. They both try to formulate a plan in how to tell Savage without him going off the deep end. How long can they hide their passion from those they love?

Gwynn has done it again. This book is amazing just like the first one!

Tortured Skye by Gwyn McNamee is a five star novel. Skye Hawke has had a rough go inner 28 years. Her dad died in the boxing ring when she was young. Then her twin sister dies on a trip that Skye herself should have been on. She blames herself for not being there but her love interest at the time kept her away from this ski trip. She has since then slept her way through multiple men but always makes sure they know that she is not looking for a relationship. Gabe is a very good friend of the family. He and Skye’s brother have been best of friends since they were six. Gabe has a very tortured soul because of his time spent deployed with the military. He has been to counseling and really found help there. His PTSD has been in check now for a while. That is until the night he decided he needed to talk over their relationship with Skye. This has been several months in coming because of the kiss they shared at the wedding. He needs to go to her and tell her they can't act on their feelings because he cannot jeopardize his relationships with her whole family just to have a romantic relationship with her. When he goes to her apartment, he realizes the mistake he has made too late. There is no way he is getting out of here without taking the relationship with her further. How far will they go before they finally get up the nerve to tell Savage?
