Sasha and Leo return in IMMINENT PERIL, the pulse-pounding tenth novel in the USA TODAY Bestselling Sasha McCandless Legal Thriller Series.
When civil litigator and Krav Maga fighter Sasha McCandless pummels a harasser into a pulp during an altercation in a bar, she's sentenced to an anger management diversion program for first-time offenders. Sasha chafes at the sentence, arguing that she was defending herself from imminent danger. But her law partner Will Volmer and her husband Leo Connelly both beg her to go along with the program to protect her license to practice law and her family’s privacy.
Sasha's cell mate from her night in jail is also in the program, and the woman complains bitterly that she's being set up to discredit her. She claims she’s a whistleblower with explosive dirt on her employer. When the woman goes missing and then turns up dead, Sasha suspects she may have been telling the truth.
Sasha and Leo set out to investigate and discover a cover-up with the deadliest of implications. Sasha has no choice but to pursue justice, but in doing so she puts herself and her family in the crosshairs, endangering not only her livelihood, but her life.

This 10th in the series is less legal and more drama in this contemporary thriller featuring Sasha McCandless and her husband, Leo Connelly.
Sasha is unwinding with a friend at a bar when she decides to interfere with a guy there who seems to be harassing some young ladies. After she beats him up, he brings charges and Sasha is remanded to an anger management diversion program. There she meets a young woman who claims that her forced attendance in the program is due to her employer because she brought an issue about product safety to their attention. Then the young woman goes missing. Meanwhile, the other attorneys at the office are trying to litigate a sale between two toy companies because Sasha is on probation. Of course this is all connected and soon Sasha finds herself in the sights of a killer.
Well, again, this is a lot of Sasha in fights and way too much about home with twins domesticity. Although I like the characters, I’m tiring of the constant way Sasha noses her way into dangerous situations. I miss the legal details and the courtroom action. I think I need to take a little break.
Great, fun read for a good mystery after some heavy thrillers...
I have always enjoyed the Sasha McCandless series for a quick read of lighter mysteries involving a nice attorney and her family. Sasha can't help but get involved when she sees anyone being taken advantage of, even when it gets her in a little trouble. Here she finds out all problems arising around her actually have something to do with a company her law firm is working with. Read and feel right beside her as Sasha works to uncover a mystery that may cause her harm.
Always like the Sasha McCandless books and this was no different. Sasha is juggling new twins with her husband and working on a big money buy out of a toy manufacturer by another toy company which her firm is working for. The company being bought is dragging its feet in providing information for the buyers due diligence investigation. The sellers have a problem and they have hired a shady consultant to help them out. While Sasha is meeting a friend at a bar she becomes involved when she sees a big beefy man harassing a trio of young women and goes to send them on their way and give him what for. Sasha, not quit 5 feet tall and maybe 100 lbs takes him on and prevails only to be arrested and sentenced to probation and anger management class. Even while on leave from the firm she continues to do her own investigation and uncovers more dirt on the company being purchased. There is more to it than that but I will leave it for you to discover. For those who like a female lead character and light mysteries, look up Melissa's books.
Another interesting plot with glimpses into immigration law, consumer protection laws, and backroom dealings in corporate takeovers. And, of course, everything spirals out of control and events happen. Just as an aside, I didn’t know Pittsburgh had a Trader Joe’s. Lucky them! A fun read populated by old friends and new acquaintances. Just as an aside, I’m having trouble getting a handle on the twins’ age. They seem to be none too steady on their feet, but they’re talking in complete sentences and setting a table that they probably can’t reach with dishes they probably can’t carry. I’m definitely willing to read more to solve this apparent contradiction.
Sasha steps up to protect some women being harassed in a Pittsburgh bar, and ends up in an anger management class, feeling alienated from her law firm colleagues who have sidelined her to protect form interests. She discovers a missing woman from her class might be connected to a litigation she was working on, concerning misrepresentation of potential dangers in children's toys in order to turn a corporate profit.
She is worried about Fionna and Finn playing with something dangerous. As the plot thickens, she has more direct things to be worried about.
I love Sasha's legal thrillers and this one was great. Finished it in one evening, it was so exciting. This was Ms Miller's 10th book in this series so would recommend all interested readers read her earlier books in this series for better familiarity with the characters but if you love mystery, thrillers and suspense you will love this entire series of legal misadventures Sasha managed to get into. 5 stars given because I loved the book.
This is another great book in the series it's works well as a stand alone or a follow on. The characters were developed as was the storyline. Let's just say didn't know about all those regulations alluded to were necessary to sell children's toys.
These books are similar to binging a favorite TV series - fast and entertaining. "Imminent Peril" was one of the more interesting premises as Sasha gets herself in trouble for coming to the aid of a young woman who is being threatened by a bar patron. At times, the plot borders a bit on the "eye roll" side but still fun to read.
Excellent book. Stayed up really late reading. Ms. Miller does not fail the reader at all. Sasha gets into the most interesting and convoluted problems, thinks them out, and moves onto the finish. Really hope you continue to write stories with this character. Thank you!!!
I just love Sasha and Leo and the rest of the crew, they've become like family! This book was quite a thriller that kept you guessing right up to the end. I couldn't put it down! Please get the next adventure out soon!!
Wow .just become your fan.superb plot & very contemporary plot.i was mesmerized & kept on thinking how you were going to end because it was known who the villain was.super narrative & a beautiful way to end the plot.thumbs up.
The story starts with Sasha doing actual legal work but quickly turns to Krav Maga, as usual. Plenty of mystery, intrigue and detective work ensues, and guess what, more Krav Maga! Suffice it to say, another excellent novel by Melissa F. Miller.
What starts as a bar fight takes a twisty path to a plot to discredit Sasha to allow the smooth sale of a corrupt toy company. Loved the story and never tire of Sasha and Connelly and their cast of coworkers and friends.
With things seeming to come out of left field, Sasha is unsure how deep the conspiracy goes. A simple act of helping a stranger explodes and her family is threatened! Fast-paced excitement!
Excellent read! Melissa Miller never, ever disappoints! Very well written and an exciting read! She can weave the threads of a story together exceptionally well!!
Another well written story of Sasha's exploits. Even in motherhood she can prove to be a Wonder Woman. She clearly has more on her plate and Leo is a blessing.
It wouldn’t be unreasonable to worry that by novel number 10, the Sasha McCandless series could be at risk running out of steam: after all, how many legal conundrums can a writer conjure up, especially when the titles need to start with the letter ‘I’?
Worry not: you’ll be relieved to know that Imminent Peril is one of the most twisty-turny, most gripping novels in the series so far. The familiar elements of this popular series are all there, this time under the guise of an unscrupulous toy maker, a scientist with a conscience and, of course, a fierce attorney proficient in Krav Maga. Indeed, it’s exactly Sasha’s combat skills that get her into trouble at the beginning of the story - but I’ll stop here to avoid spoilers. Suffice to say, there are enough twists in this story to keep you holding your breath until the last page.
Having read all the novels in the series so far, I can certainly say that I haven’t encountered a disappointing one so far; but the last two, “International Incident” and “Imminent Peril” certainly stand out as favourites, through a combination of social issues, a suspenseful plot and a superb cast of characters who keep evolving, book after book. Readers in search of intelligent entertainment that combines plot, suspense and heart will find that “Imminent Peril” ticks all the boxes, and more.
