Maggie Cox loved to write almost as soon as she learned to read. Her favorite occupation was daydreaming and making up stories in her head, and this particular pastime has stayed with her through all the years of growing up, starting work, marrying and raising a family. No matter what was going on in her life, whether joy, happiness, struggle or disappointment, she'd go to bed each night and lose herself in her imagination. Through all the years of her secretarial career she kept on filling exercise books and the "joy oh joy" her word processor with her writing, never showing anyone what she wrote and basically keeping her stories for her own enjoyment alone.
It wasn't until she met her second husband and the "love of her life" that she was persuaded to start sharing those stories with a publisher. She settled on Mills & Boon (Harlequin) as she had loved romance novels since she was a teenager and read at least one or two paperbacks a week. After several rejections, the letters that were sent back from the publisher started to become more and more positive and encouraging, and in July 2002 she sold her first book A Passionate Protector. Since then she has continued written.
The fact that she is being published is truly a dream come true; however, each book she writes is still a journey in "courage and hope," and a quest to learn and grow and be "the best writer she can." Her advice to aspiring authors is: "Don't give up at the first hurdle, or even the second, third or fourth, but keep on keeping on until your dream is realized because if you are truly passionate about writing and learning the craft, as Paulo Coehlo states in his book The Alchemist: "The Universe will conspire to help you make it a reality."
Georgia's parents died when she was young. As a result she raised her younger brother alone and worked hard to give him food and a roof under his head. Noah, her brother, urges her to work for Keir a handsome millionaire in the Scottish Highlands.
Of course Keir happens to be a brooding man with a pretty dark past but sweet kind-hearted Georgia manages to turn his life around with her unselfish, unconditional love.
Adorable, cute love story. The chemistry between Georgia and Keir was amazing. They were such easy characters to fall in love with!
It was a good read, liked Keir-Georgia,both have tempers but no one bends which leads to bickering and fights adding the attraction that they felt for each other, enjoyed it very much
Keir has suffered in the past at the hands of his parents, both were abusive,he and his brother both were treated cruelly by their parents,he even distances himself from his brother Robbie, he hides his feelings but in front of Georgia he always ends up displaying some emotions which disturbs him very much, slowly we get to know about his past that has left emotional scars
Georgia is a great character, liked her very much, she has her share of sufferring after her parenst die she inherits the house but its full of debts so she has to work and take care of her brother Noah, now her brother is grown up n settled she goes to work at Keir's office and slowly she falls for him fast n hard
really liked the poker scenes,Georgia is scared of the storm and on top of that Keir comes, she thinks its a burgler and charges at him with a poker and god the fight then they almost kiss but damn Moira comes
then there's coffee scene that one also i enjoyed a lot
Enjoyed each page of this book, Recommend it who love office romance
This was boring. The title is a bit misleading. The pregnancy doesn't happen until the end of the book, and doesn't play a big part in the plot. The writing felt choppy and abrupt. And, as another reviewer said, the ending felt to fast.
I didn't read much for this author so I cant't decide about her writing in general but . this particular book : It was fast reading sometimes too fast i fell that the book needs an extra chapter as if it ended suddenly I liked the H character she is kind and nice but i wanted to read more about her and her brother their relationship was beautiful as i said before this book would be much better if the writer did more work on the secondary characters some scenes need more pages like the party part for example .
I couldn't find my other book so I started another one last night not bad so far if you like bairds and sunlit lochs and are willing to believe that a virginal sister who raised her brother always just on the brink of poverty lands a temp job with a millionaire who on site finds her the most beautiful thing he has ever encountered then you will buy right into this one. The lochs and glenn craigs are a nice setting change though. :)
The virgin--Georgia Cameron has led a sheltered life. She raised her younger brother alone, sacrificing everything for his welfare. The boss--Keir Strachan is the most handsome man she's ever seen--and as her boss, he's forbidden fruit. And their baby! But Georgia cannot resist Keir's sensual seduction. To him the affair is only temporary, until Georgia discovers she's pregnant!
Georgia is hired as a temporary secretary to Laird Keir Strachan, and moves into his home to assist him in the running of his estate. The attraction is strong for both of them, but Georgia is a wary virgin and Keir was traumatized by his past and is trying to keep Georgia at a distance to protect them both. He fails obviously, as the two end up in bed together. Georgia realizes she's in love with Keir but also that there have been no promises of a future together...both just seem to ignore the elephant in the room hoping to keep things going as they are. But then Georgia suspects that she's pregnant.
Not much happening in this story oddly enough. It felt like a long read, but having written the summary above I realize that there wasn't much going on. Keir has to deal with his past and the effects of the decisions he made in order to cope with it. Georgia tries to deal with the manic personality that ends up being Keir - he's kind and concerned one moment and he's a brute the next minute, yelling and taunting. Keir was okay, despite his belligerent attitude. His stance on a relationship with Georgia confused me at times, like he wanted one and then he didn't, but there were no thoughts that suggested he was indecisive. Actually a lot of actions and such just felt out of the blue, like there wasn't enough build up beforehand for the action to make sense. That's just a feeling I had - could just be me. Georgia just seemed a bit too Mary Sue for my tastes...like how she smiles through and ignores his Keir's blustering and just sweetly steps around it. It also bugged me that she kept reminding herself (and thus the reader) about how she'd taken care of her younger brother and how selfless and self-sufficient that made her. The ending, with the final conflict and then the resolution felt a bit too fast . On the bright side, the romance was pretty sweet, bordering on corny (which I didn't mind so much). Also, the setting was absolutely beautiful and I wish I could visit...

Fue una lectura que me entretuvo pero la verdad no la disfruté, el protagonista masculino me pareció insoportable y a la protagonista tenía ganas de decirle que no dejara que le hablaran así.
Either this was written by light crime author Ann Granger under a different name or by her stylistic twin. We get many sentences which begin and end with It or There was. Many sentences end in question marks or exclamation marks, which most of us use sparingly. The heroine also gets into a claw-toothed bath. Shouldn't that be claw-footed?
The romance occurs in Scotland and the man has many hangups about his family. If the style hadn't been so novicey it could have been decent, though for a 2007 book I am astonished that this woman keeps going on about her sacrifices and astounded that nobody has a mobile phone or e-mail.
A re-read. I'm so not thrilled with it. I had it originally marked as 4/5. Not this time around. I just ... ugh, didn't like it this time around. Might explain why it took me over a month to read it. Same basic story, over and over. All of them. All of them over and over. I need to find some new stories to read. Seriously.
Poorly written, barely/badly edited. So many unnecessary exclamation points. The man is just unpleasant and there was no reason in the text for the woman to feel kindly toward him, much less fall in love.
Only thing detracting from the story, really, was perhaps even a short epilogue stating the sex and name of the baby. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book.
There wasn't enough dialogue between the two characters. Everything was "this is what happened to the two of them in their pasts, this is how they're feeling and why".
