Michael Knight is an excellent undercover cop and could take a joke. However, the recent jokes and pranks from his co-workers in regards to his name went too far when they messed with his truck. 1.5 stars rounded down because the MC is a misogynistic douchebag.
This book was a miss for me. A complete miss. I've learned a few things since I started "writing" reviews, and I try to be more diplomatic about my ratings, but there were so many issues with this book. I was leaning toward a 2 star rating until Knight started with this gem:
“You came from Fish’s office so I can assume you were there about Slade.” Eddie glanced at Knight. “I was,” Knight confirmed and his temper flared again. “Why the hell you guys sent Slade to meet with Fernandez with only a woman for backup, I don’t know. I’m not putting down female agents here, but they are better suited to surveillance or as honey traps.”
How, pray tell, are you not putting down female agents? That was the last straw for me. I overlooked Knight's treatment of his fellow female trainees, and I excused his disregard and lack of respect for two female instuctors, (because you know, he's a genius and he knows everything about the organization he was just recruited into) but the honey traps comment broke the camel's back.
I did not like Knight. At all. He's always angry and quick to use his fists. Slade finds this sexy, but it soon became annoying for me as the reader. His anger and his supposed genius intelligence were mentioned so often that it made him seem one dimensional.
It took me much longer to get through the book than it should have when considering the page count. The POV shifts are mind-numbing. The author goes from one character go another and back and forth - often in the same paragraph.
There was no excuse for his lapse of anticipation of an attack, even if he thought his opponent conceded defeat. Just because Knight was his new partner, didn’t mean he knew the man. Nor should he have automatically trusted him. Knight’s attack had caught Slade off guard and he was ready for Slade to retaliate. There was no doubt Slade would and he welcomed it. At least Knight thought he did until he saw the gleam in Slade’s eyes.
“Fuck!” Slade cursed. Hearing Knight gag on his cock was the hottest thing he had ever heard and seeing the man’s eyes water was all it took to make his gut tighten. “You like gagging on my dick don’t you, my little cocksucker,” Slade panted out breathlessly. Slade’s filthy words made Knight’s cock twitch. The first time he gagged on Slade, his spent dick decided it wasn’t that spent and hardened again. Every time he gagged, his orgasm took another step toward release.
There is a serious dearth of editing here. Errors that could have been caught by a proofread are plentiful. (You're - your, past - passed etc.,)
If you're a stickler for procedural accuracy, you'll probably have issues with this book.

This review will contain minor spoilers and possibly be considered offensive to some people. However, these are my honest reactions. 1 1/2 stars really, rounded up to 2.
I.N.E.T. International Narcotics Enforcement & Tracking really didn’t work for me. The premise was certainly right up my ally; 2 alpha male LEO types negotiating a relationship while committing random acts of legally sanctioned violence. It sounded hot; but sadly didn’t pan out for me. Something about the story and the characters just felt…inauthentic. Not flagrantly implausible but not entirely credible either.
It also didn’t help that I really, really did not like one of the main characters. Detective Michael Knight is an arrogant ass. It’s not his disparaging comments about women that got me worked up. I wouldn’t exactly say he’s a misogynist because Knight is condescendingly rude and disparaging to almost everyone. Michael Knight’s problem is that he thinks he’s a special snowflake. He has a photographic memory, a near genius IQ and not one shred of humility. His anger issues – which his partner Slade seems to think are so sexy – seem to be rooted in nothing other than the fact that he isn’t universally recognized as a special snowflake. There is a one line mention of an issue with his sister; but mostly he seems angry that he doesn’t get special treatment. He gets recruited to the I.N.E.T. and he absolutely can NOT fathom that he is expected to go through their training course like everyone else. Then amidst his cocky attitude, temper tantrums and chronic complaints, we get to see how amazing and special he is as he “one ups” his instructors – except that his instructors are presented as complete and total buffoons. I realize it’s an effort to show off what a special snowflake he is – but I think it just took away from the general credibility of the plot.
Then there’s the connection between Knight and Slade. I almost had it. There were points where I was getting on board and then they lost me. Like the scene where Knight is giving Slade a blowjob and realizes he likes gagging on his partner’s dick. Gagging, repeatedly; like to the point where his eyes were watering and suddenly all I could see was Knight hurling all over Slade’s dick and there just isn’t enough eye bleach to cleanse that visual. Finally, it was the eleventh hour personality change that totally threw me. One minute they’re all gruff, alpha manly men and the next minute I felt like I tumbled into a Harlequin romance and they’re all “the heart wants what the heart wants” and “partners don’t break each other’s hearts” and instead of Knight and Slade now we’re suddenly “Mike and take me to bed Aaron and it’ll be our pleasure” and I’m all “OMG what happened to their penises? Their penises fell off”!!!! On top of which – there was no actual sex in this book (and yes, I’m using the Bill Clinton definition) – so now – if there’s going to be a sequel, how can there be any hot, gay sex when they lost their penises????

Aaron Slade has worked solo in undercover work with International Narcotics Enforcement & Tracking. He doesn't want a partner, but he has been put in the position of recruiting Knight as his partner.
The two men do not start off on the right foot, in fact there is a great deal of animosity between the two, but a sparing match, leaves them with grudging respect for each other, among other feelings.
This was a solid book which was enhanced by Knight's character. He's got a chip on his shoulder, a bad attitude toward woman in the force, anger management, none of those good qualities, but his trickster mind is a marvelous thing to behold. I look forward to reading more.

The middle part of the book, everything that revolves around Knight's training, is pretty entertaining. The way he manipulates his fellow trainees during a surveillance assignment was definitely worth reading. But I could have done without the rather blatant misogyny, the angry caricature Knight became, and the lackluster romance.
Then there were the mistakes that made this book scream for an editor. There's a mistake in the second sentence.
"Detective Michael Knight was having a shitty day. Shitter than usual for a Friday."
"Slade knew calling Knight a rookie would get in his caw."
"...Slade just shrugged noncommittedly."
"... hairs-breath... "
There's a handful of other errors, relatively minor, but when added up, they form an unappetizing casserole of lazy, ignorant writing that pulls you out of the story.

Review by The Blogger Girls.
Michael is a detective dealing with harassment in his unit for his name (“Michael Knight” from the television show Knight Rider), as well as homophobia once it becomes clear they found out he was gay. Before he has a chance to really do anything about it, he is contacted by Slade, an agent with the elite unit I.N.E.T. I.N.E.T. has recruited Michael and paired him up with Slade.
Michael has some clear anger issues. He’s ready to blow his top at any moment, but thus far, has gotten the job done. He hasn’t had a partner, and it’s been a while since Slade has had one as well, so neither are really looking forward to the pairing at first. But, it quickly becomes apparent that these two share some major physical chemistry.
Michael has to go through training before anything else, which he finds extremely boring. He has an amazing memory and a really high IQ. Unfortunately, his temper keeps getting in the way. Slade has found a way to work around that though, by distracting Michael with sex. It gets pretty hot at times, as these two are both big growly alphas fighting for dominance. There are questions as to why Michael was wasting himself with that local department when he is obviously capable of so much more. Couple this with his anger issues, there is definitely a hint there is more to Michael’s story than meets the eye.
Unlike Michael, I really enjoyed the training. It was fun to watch how he works, from assessing his fellow recruits, to putting the instructors in their places. I loved the way he turned the entire assignment around to make it entertaining to him while still coming out on top.
You do have to suspend your beliefs a bit for this one though. There are quite a few things that just simply would never happen. But, if you take it for what it is, a sexy piece of fiction, you will enjoy it as much as I did. It was a fast-paced exciting read that had me quickly turning pages. These guys are just getting warmed up, and now that training is over and they are ready to go, I can’t wait to see how things progress. I’m definitely looking forward to the next installment.

I really enjoyed this one and as the first book in a new series it was a great introduction to I.N.E.T. and the world they work in.
I actually reviewed a shorter version of this story in Uniform: A Man in Uniform Bundle and this is what I wrote:
Brenda always writes about tough alpha males and Slade and Knight are very tough and all alpha. Knight is having the day from hell on the vice unit and it’s not the perps that are making his life difficult. The rest of the office, in fact the rest of the station, is getting a buzz winding him up over his name. It went past funny weeks ago but when someone messes with his truck it’s a step too far.
Slade is witness to the disregard and bigoted attitude Knights boss shows him and he doesn’t blame the man for storming out. Slade is there to give Knight the good news that he has been recruited for a new job but can’t get the man to calm down enough to tell him. Between punch bags, sizzling attraction and a little bit of dominance Slade needs to show Knight he is on his side and he’s not the bad guy. This pair are hot together!
In this full length story we get to see what happens after Knight is recruited and he is definitely not the easiest trainee the training facility has had to deal with but he may well be the smartest. He is hot tempered, frustrated and spends much of his time amusing himself and preventing boredom setting in by setting up his classmates in their assignments. He is also strongly attracted to his partner, in fact strongly doesn’t even begin to cover it, their sparring sessions are epic.
I can’t wait to see where Brenda takes this series. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out and I have my fingers crossed we get to see more of Slade and Knight on the way.

It was an enjoyable read about 2 law enforcement guys, Slade and Knight, that get to become partners and can't keep their hands of each other. It’s full of fun, sarcasm, hot MCs, dirty talk and some action. And it’s hot.
What is original : the story occurs during the training of Knight on his way to become an agent and the partner of Slade. What annoyed me a tad : too much teasing about kinky play (but not delivered) and the abrupt ending.
The potential for a nice series is there.

Disappointed once again
I read Guns-n-Hoses early in my MM reading career and it was kinda fun and sexy PWP. The sequel was just okay. I think I read one other that was bad. This sounded like it could be a little fun, too. Not. It doesn't even qualify as PWP, since there was very little sex. I wouldn't call the characters alpha types, since Knight was 32 going on 3, walking around having temper tantrums. He was shown as incredibly arrogant, like the gods gift to law enforcement. Although the term law enforcement barely applies, since there was little that resembled actual police/agency work. A direct supervisor that knows and approves of sex between partners? Slade, the veteran of the mythical drug agency was a rather thinly drawn character. He would fight with Knight and get horny. Other than that? Oh, sucked at undercover work.
There was a little humor and some of the training scenarios were close to realistic, just not how Knight supposedly accomplished them. So I gave it two stars, since I didn't hate it. It was also irritating in the lack of good writing or editing. It was unclear if this was supposed to be set in the recent past. Knight is said to be 32, and Slade two years younger. Then Slade says he was recruited in 2001, as a sophomore in college. (??) POV's switched constantly, sometimes from sentence to sentence, making it sooo difficult to follow who was speaking. There was also a plethora of grammar and spelling errors. After all the books under the author's name, one would think that quality would improve over time.

Am I gonna find another book this week worthy of my stars?
By chance I saw the synopsis of this book and immediately I - forgive me father for I have sinned - put the other book I was reading away and dug in. This was another sleepless night. For some reason midnight has become my reading hour.
Anyway, undercover agent and smart guy extraordinaire Michael Knight - cue Knight Rider music - has had it up to here with his fellow colleagues pranks. It all came to head and he found himself on the verge of quitting when his luck changed.
He got an invite to join I.N.E.T and he met his future partner Aaron Slade.
The meeting was not the best, but the guys had one serious instant attraction that carried on throughout the book.
There was major "Quantico" research and even an undercover sting that whoosh, had me on the edge of my seat.
A must read. Just be warned...this is part one.

I shouldn't have liked this book. I know that but I can't help it. Knight should have pissed me off because of his attitude towards women and his OTT anger issues. The police procedure (or lack thereof) should have pissed me off. The intimation that you have to have a genius level intelligence to work for the Feds should have pissed me off. And all of those things did piss me off...sort of. I knocked off a star for that. BUT! These 2 together just...knocked my socks off. The dirty talk, the pseudo-incest, the semi-public sex just about made me explode! I have a weakness for OTT alpha males especially when they're getting it on together.

I think this is a good start to a new series. Lots of characters that can be explored, especially Slade and Knight in future books. While parts of the training were a boring and I wanted it to move on, Knight's adventures with the other recruits was funny. I can just imagine what Slade and Knight could get into as partners. I had a feeling it was coming, based on how much was left to read, and while it wasn't exactly a cliffhanger, I really didn't like how the book just ends. Ending like that when you don't know if or when there will be another one is just wrong. Makes me leery of future stories by this author. I am hoping there is another one.

Really enjoy the stories that Brenda Cothern writes. Strong, dominant men who are so appealing that I find myself talking to the pages of the books I'm reading. Things like "no, don't do that, you assh*le" or "OMG, you're going to break his f*cking heart". The only thing wrong with this book was it was too short. I need more of Slade and Knight!!! Look forward to the release of the next book in the I.N.E.T. series.

I got this with Unlimited so that's something. First off let me say I liked Slade, he and the other team members I'd like to get to know. I could not find one likable thing about Knight. Nothing. Not only was he too perfect of a cop/agent, he was a complete asshole about it without a single redeeming quality. I had to force myself to finish this.

This book could be used as a case study in how not to write duel POV and what happens when you don't have a competent editor.
It is terrible.

I did not care for this one. I didn't care for the narrator & I don't like music that just randomly pops up either. There was a lot that I didn't care for in this book, too much for me to list out. I don't know if I will be continuing on with this series or not.

This is #1 of the I.N.E.T.: International Narcotics Enforcement & Tracking series. I've started to read this book a few times but didn't get very far with it as I found MC Michael Knight really irritating. However, this time I persevered beyond chapter one and I was so glad I did. There were parts of Michael's personality that I didn't like very much, even to the end of the book but that made him more human and somehow more likeable. In particular, I liked the part during his training where he entertains himself by duping the other trainees (and the trainer setting the assignment) by giving away (untrue) information in such a way it was believable. His new work partner, MC Aaron Slade, is a much more straightforward character and acts as a foil for Michael's unpredictable nature but he needs all the strength and cunning he has if he going to keep Michael from losing the plot. The world building was interesting (you have to keep in mind this is fiction, though) and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see where Ms Cothern takes it and the characters she's introduced here.
The book is quite fast-paced, as is the relationship between the two MCs and the sexual tension fairly sizzles off the page at times. Definitely worth a read.

Some good, entertaining suspense, action, violence and sex. I like this series, looking forward to book 2. Def like it better than Undercover Lover, by the same author.

Well…let me you tell you, I thought some of the other books I’ve read from this author were great, but even the best of them kind of pale against this newest work from Ms. Cothern.
Saying I loved the story line, the characters, the plot, and oh, I don’t know, everything about the book, would be an understatement. I’m really really loving where she is going with this one. I’ve always been impressed with Ms. Cothern’s voice, which comes out in her writing, but this one is a new high.
We first meet the unfortunately named Michael Knight when his coworkers at the Tampa Police Department have been riding him terribly about his name, because…for those you not old enough to know it, Michael Knight was the name of David Hasselhoff’s character in the television show in the early 1980’s called Knight Rider. The car in that show was named K.I.T.T. and it was a tricked out Trans Am if I remember correctly, which was computer controlled, and had a snazzy red light that ran back and forth in its grill. This is important, because that is what finally causes Knight to explode. The other officers have messed with his prize pick-up truck and replaced the flashing police lights in the grill with a red bar like on the car in that show.
When he goes to complain, he finds out his Lieutenant hates him, and not only that, the Lieutenant is a total homophobe and everyone in his department has found out he is gay. That is why they are tormenting him, and the Lieutenant refuses to do anything about it. Knight doesn’t notice the other man in the room when he is yelling at the Lieutenant, but that man surely notices him.
Aaron Slade is an agent for an elite international organization called I.N.E.T. which stands for International Narcotics Enforcement & Tracking, and he was there to inform Knight’s boss that Knight has been recruited by I.N.E.T.
After a ton of confusion, Knight ends up at the training facility for I.N.E.T., and the story only gets better from there. We have drug dealers, we have snotty instructors, and we have some definite chemistry between our two MCs. But enough on the spoilers! Take my advice, hit one click right now. I.N.E.T is book # 1 in a new series by author Brenda Cothern and I will start by saying WOW!!!!!!'
I'm in love, lust, and obsessed with this book I could not put it down and when it ended I screamed for more. Brilliant amazing doesn't even come close to how I feel about this book.
Michael Knight ( yes you saw that right it's his name ) is one bad a** undercover cop with a temper to match, all heck breaks loose when the harassment about his name went to far and his fellow workers targeted his truck all bets r off now and when he confronts the top brass and realizes he won't get anywhere fast because of the homophobic co workers and he takes matters into his own hands.
Aaron Slade works for I.N.E.T ( International Narcotics Enforcement & Tracking ) as one of the best undercover enforcement officers, he's used to working alone but is suddenly told he is getting a partner... Well here's where the fun begins.
Knight is beyond pissed after leaving the office, he is confronted by Slade and is none to happy so when both meet at the gym to discuss what's to be lets just say sparing will never have the same meaning again.
These two are almost identical in looks and build with each fighting for dominance and together they are hotter than an inferno, scorching and explosive.
Knight is being recruited to INET and will soon become Slade's work partner amongst other "inserts wink" he has to endure training and we all know that with Knight's anger problems he gets restless fast and Slade is there to deter his fits and dayum !!!!
We get a glimpse at how a case goes down and Knight is right there doing what he does best and gets a hands on feel at what's to come with his new job. It's angsty but so well worth it I can't wait to get more into the reasoning behind Knight's temper and see how these two pair off working together so please Brenda hurry and give me more of these two alpha's that I've claimed as MINE.

AUDIBLE REVIEW:
Stuck on bed rest and trying to clean out my TBR list on my audible. This one has been sitting for a while and mostly because I didn’t see many positive reviews. If you have read some of the reviews then you may see a trend.
First.. The narrator is Michael Vasicek, and to be honest I cringed through the whole listening of this. I just couldn’t get into the book with his voice. That was one major turn off.
Second, Knight was an ass. He was always angry and nasty. And look, I get it, not everyone can be fluffy rainbows, however, you want people to like your main character.
Third, the way this author put down WOMAN AGENTS, burned me up! When Knight said the only thing they were good for was being honey pots and that they don’t belong undercover in the field, are you kidding me?!?!?!
I am going to assume (yea I know) that more woman than men are reading this book,Which I hope I am wrong on that, and to put woman down like that was uncalled for.
Another thing, the book was rushed, the things I liked, I wanted more of. The ending was way to fast and the love part well, I can forgive that to a point.
I feel like things were left unsaid and unanswered. Though being a series, hopefully they get answered.
And I get that Knight and Slade to a point is a genius, but to make him the best of the best of the best, seems far fetched. Again I get it’s a book and not real life.

First! Please edit and then re-edit. The flow of the story kept being interrupted by errors.
I loved Knight just because he was unlovable. Slade worked alone. Two solitary assholes who were brilliant at their jobs.
His eyes never left Detective Knight even when he wanted to glare at Daniels' blatant harassment and discrimination, so he didn't miss the change that came over the man. If Slade thought Knight's fury was intimidating, and he wasn't intimidated easily, then the man's sudden calmness was downright scary in a dangerous way that teased his arousal ... The fact that the asshole behind the desk hadn't informed Knight that he had been recruited to the International Narcotics Enforcement and Tracking agency pissed Slade off almost as much as the homophobic discrimination he had witnessed. He could only rak up Daniels silence as a sign the asshole was a jealous fuck.
Knight and Slade had met. They did not want to work together but they had no choice. But other , hotter sparks flew when they were near each other.
I like bad boys so loved these two and loved them together. The story just needed some editing.

I'm not sure what I just read. I see it's the beginning of a series but if the series doesn't continue with the same 2 MCs then that would just suck. We didn't learn much about them. A lot of things were touched on but nothing has come to light yet. It's a solid start if it does continue with these same guys but didn't feel like a complete story....(had to print some concert tickets) Okay, anyways, they did have some hot, sexy as hell dirty talkin' and some kinky play was eluded to but nothing has happened with that yet. Like that! A bunch of things started. We did get to meet others in the team so I think this will really pick up maybe in the next book.

was quite enjoying this book and then I turned the page and was like "What?? Where is the rest of the book?" It stops rather suddenly and at 91%. Be warned. Will I read more from this pairing? Absolutely yes. There is so much more to this partnership that needs to be explored. We are teased with the potential of a little light bdsm at the beginning of the book that is not seen to fruition and the little action we did see (and I don't mean bedroom action) was hardly fulfilling given the nature of the I.N.E.T. work. So yes, I felt a little short changed but the potential is there for a great series.

Knight and Blake - guys we need to get to know better.
A good start to what looks like it will be an interesting series.
The main focus of this first book is Knight trying to survive his induction with the I.N.E.T. as well as make sense of zing that he finds with his new partner Blake.
I gave four marks for the introduction of some interesting characters including the boss man Fish. However, in the next book I am hoping for more action in the field and getting to know more background on the main protagonists.
