Rate this book
Serad is the powerful, handsome pirate whose relentless plundering is the stuff of legend--but only few know that his true identity is Lord Alexander Wakefield. His kidnapping as a child by Barbary pirates changed the course of his life. Now Serad is master of the seas, accustomed to possessing whatever--or whomever--strikes his fancy. . ..

He Stole Her Freedom. . .

When Serad boards the vessel La Mouette to loot for treasure, he discovers a cargo more precious than any the heiress Victoria Lawrence. A raven-haired, emerald-eyed beauty, Victoria captivates Serad as no woman ever has before. But the fiery young lady doesn't seem to understand that she is now a captive, expected to honor her new master's wishes and desires without question. . .

But He Must Win Her Heart

When Victoria set sail from India, she expected the voyage to deliver her into the arms of her betrothed--not a heartless gang of pirates. Now captured, she refuses to bow to any man, even one as commanding as Serad. Sharing his cabin, Victoria can barely resist her overwhelming attraction for her captor. But if she gives in to her desires, Victoria knows Serad will accept nothing less than her total surrender. . .

Зло семейство, платено отвличане на другия край на света, (псевдо)пирати, живот сред чужда култура, завръщане на следващото поколение за възмездие, измами и интриги, плюс няколко засукани любовни двойки. Идеално.

The beauty of this story is that you’ll have multiple POVs and side romance from other secondary characters without overwhelming the main couple. It’s simply beautiful and steamy with the right amount of sizzle, you’d feel it coming across the pages.

The romance is so in depth and feels so nuance, the characters really come alive. Love the description of Algiers as the main backdrop of the story, as I’ve been to the place myself.

It's been years since I've read anything by Bobbi Smith. I remember enjoying the other books but this one just didn't cut it for me. Heck the hero barely made an appearance in the first 200 pages and the heroine didn't appear at all. The entire story was about his aunt, his grandfather, and his evil parents. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the plot centered around a despot's harem which is a theme that I absolutely hate. The last 100 pages were good but the build up wasn't worth the 8 hours of reading to get there.

I did have one major issue with the ransom note in the beginning. The thugs were only supposed to kidnap Alexander and I'm sure the note they left was written by Avery since in the 1700s thugs didn't read or write. It just wasn't possible for the thugs to have left a note claiming Alex and Catherine were kidnapped and asking for ransom for both of them when that wasn't the plan at all. Even if they could read and write, where would they have found paper (velum or whatever they used then) out in the Duke's backyard? Hmmmmmm

Not a bad read although to much emphasis was on the male character as a young child. He is kidnapped along with his aunt and held for ransom. A ransom is sent to the Duke and even though he pays neither his grandson nor his daughter are returned. He assumes they are dead. Years later, the boy now a man is a powerful Barbary pirate whose plundering is legendary. He captures a ship containing a woman who is betrothed to a man that is disguised as the missing grandson. She escapes and returns to England only to discover her love for the pirate. Plenty of twists and turns and eventually he is returned to his right full identity. HEA ending.

The cover brought a few laughs, but this actually wasn't too bad of a romance novel...obviously some corny lines, but the story was actually not too bad: kidnapping, love and of course PIRATES..haha. Kept my interest and makes me want to head to walgreens to pick up another one!

My first book by author. Nice cover. Good plot, but shallow characters. Author not descriptive or emotional at all. I think that's why I couldn't "connect" with the characters. Only thing I wanted to see was the comeuppance of the evil mother of the hero...it happened, but anti-climatic. Oh well.

Not much for historical romance but it was bad. Plot was okay along with characters -however- I do feel that it needed more.
