Cloverleah Pack # 10 Can be read as standalone but if you read the series you will have a better appreciation of the secondary characters and the way the packs are set up.
Raff never wanted a lot out of life; his pack, his family and to be accepted for who he was. Yes, Red Wolves were smaller, skinnier and weaker than other shifters, but they were also extremely rare. Which is why, when he was banished from his home pack and family, he made a point of staying away from other wolves. But living rough, without any money, is really hard and when Raff risks a trip into San Antonio to find some cash work, he quickly wished he hadn’t. Although, thanks to his dog Killer, he did meet up with the Alpha Mate of the local pack. Maybe, just maybe his life would take a turn for the better.
Nereus was almost as old as the sea itself, but he made a point of visiting friends whenever he could. A chance visit to the wolf pack at San Antonio put him in the path of his mate, and Nereus grabbed the little man as quickly as he could. But Raff was new to the pack and when Scott and Madison get kidnapped and the men from Cloverleah zap into town, Nereus can’t help but wonder if Cloverleah might offer his new mate a safer place to live.
Back in Cloverleah, Teilo is pleased his brother is mated, but it’s not as though he has a chance to go and look for a mate himself. He’s settled in his home and loves to run in his wolf form. Although, when he gets bitten by a teacup poodle with the ridiculous name of Killer, he wonders what other surprises are going to jump out of the bushes at him. He didn’t expect to find two mates.
A crazy serial killer with no scent; danger for Raff at every turn and a landlocked beach? The men at Cloverleah are in for some pleasant and not so pleasant surprises. Throw in four dogs and the gorgeous bear cub and all of the men in Cloverleah are going to have to be on their toes.
(Warning: M/M/M menage: violence, graphic intimate situations between men and an attempted rape of one of the MCs. Also features a teacup poodle who thinks he’s an alpha, a serial killer who believes in mpreg and a merman with a beautiful tail).
A note to readers: This book is based partially on a time line from Angel in Black Leather Pants. It is not necessary to have read that first, but if you have, don’t be surprised at the overlap. Also, because of the timeline of the book, it is written in two parts. Part one is in San Antonio where Raff and Nereus meet. Part Two is in Cloverleah where Raff and Nereus meet up with Teilo.

I want the emphasis to be on the shifters in the book. Save the pet dog for a human story.
Don't care for wolf shifters to act like humans and have a pet Chihuahua. And it's even worse when they act like really bad humans and allow the dog to dominate/disrespect them. An argument from the other side of the coin - But since they are shifters and they follow pack hierarchy, why do they not make the dog follow the rules too? Author needs to educate herself: http://leerburg.com/articles-structure.
Reread 2020 Still better on the reread than the first read through
Re-read Dec 2017 This one I found better on the re-read so increased the rating to 4 stars 🌟 I enjoyed the to and fro between the boys and how the relationship didn’t just fall into place, they had to work for it.
Ok
3 stars I love this series, it's one of the ones I head to when I need a comfort read, but for some reason I can't put my finger on, this one just didn't work for me like the rest of the series. I liked each of guys and liked them together but found myself more interested in the new characters and wondering about their spin off series.
This is the 10th book in The Cloverleah Pack series by author Lisa Oliver. While I have really enjoyed the series, sexy shifters with lots of testosterone floating through their pack, this book was just not up to par.
First, the author introduced new lore into the series again, we now have merman, Gods, and demigods. It just was a lot to swallow. I know, you are wondering why I can swallow shifters and have trouble with other paranormal beings? It's not that I had trouble with the characters or plot, it was that just so muchwas thrown at the reader in this book, it became overwhelming. I wondered at one point if the author was planning on ending the series with this book and wanted to get everything in, all in one book.
The MC in this story are Raff and Nereus. Raff,is a red-wolf, Red Wolves were smaller, skinnier and weaker than other shifters, but they were also extremely rare. Which is why, when he was banished from his home pack and family, he made a point of staying away from other wolves. Raff is trying to survive in San Antonio and take care of his dogs he has found and bonded with. It is on the streets in San Antonio he is found and saved by Damian's mate, Scott. Scott, quickly takes in the lone-wolf and starts to get him settled in the San Antonio pack. Before he can get completely settled, Damians visitor/friend, Nereus sees him and the mating instinct kicks in. But, all doesn't end in a happily-ever-after for these two, because someone is after the red-wolf and when Scott and Raff are kidnapped San Antonio has a pissed off Alpha wolf and a demigod searching for their mates.
Eventually Raff & Neurus move to the Cloverleah Pack, which has become quite the gathering of supernatural beings. Their assimilation into the pack has a few bumps, but overall they find they blend well, along with Raff's puppies.
If it was just that part of the story that the reader was exposed to, my rating would have been higher. Unfortunately there is a lot more thrown in which becomes very confusing at times. I am not sure what Ms. Oliver will do next with this series, my only hope is that it will be easier to read and not jump from viewpoint to viewpoint without any sort of direction to the reader. Will I read the next book? Probably as I love the guys from cloverleah. Until then I am hoping for a better book 11 that isn't such a jumble of plots and ideas.
2.5 stars
Review Copy of On the Brink purchased by the reviewer and reviewed for Alpha Book Club.
The story was really fast paced, suspenseful and very steamy. I liked that it felt like there was a bigger badder villain behind the crazy SOB intent on hurting Cloverleah pack. A demigod as a mate made for fun times especially when Nereus unwittingly put his foot in his mouth. I really liked Teilo and how he was with both Raff and Nereus - very fierce and protective but caring as well. I really wish more information was given about Raff's past. I knew him the least. Sometimes the POVs jumped from on person to another unexpectedly, and at times it turned rather too busy for me. But the mates complemented each other well and the puppy pack was absolutely hilarious.
With the dual storyline this book felt really rushed and as much as I find fun as hell the drama with the gods and the future shenanigans in the spin off the storyline was all over the place.
I do like Tilio and was excited about this relationship but the trio didn't do it for me, I don't know if it was the fact that we got barely anytime for them to bond, but I was hoping for more.
I hope to get a bunch more infos about the other paranormals in the future books because all this dramatic trashiness is my jam.
Another heated, supernaturally powered Cloverleah insta-mate story (with ongoing threats to the pack)
This installment continues the Cloverleah series formula of shifter instant-mate pairings (in this case a triad), extraordinarily powerful paranormal characters, an underlying pack-threatening supernatural plot, and, of course, a significant amount of male-on-male(-on-male) action. As a fan of the series, this entry did not disappoint, revisiting and raising all of these elements which I find campy, corny, somewhat heated, and plenty entertaining.
The inclusion of even more powerful characters surpasses the retinue of previous uber-power players from earlier in the series - the Mob boss/FBI super-operative, elite military shifters, three of the most powerful wolf pack Alphas, shifter/vampiric/Fae/Djinn royalty, and a Fated super-Omega. Venturing into the world of demi-gods, gods, and the Fates themselves works just as well for me as the previous over-powered, sometimes cartoonish, but nicely entertaining and (often mouth-wateringly) sexy characters.
Also, another shout-out to this author who again does a great job of depicting the central role of switching in most man-on-man action. (Studies have indicated a relatively small percentage - 20% - of gay/bi/queer report themselves as exclusively tops or bottoms. This author recognizes that even in relationships where one partner tends to top and the other tends to bottom, those roles are usually not exclusive. Indeed, small/twinky men certainly can and do top buff/aggressive/"masculine" men.)
Rating: 5 stars. I absolutely loved this book. The Cloverleah pack books are a bit of a hit or miss with me. There have been a few that I just haven't liked that well. This one is definitely a big hit with me. I think it is one of my favorite. I absolutely loved the teacup poodle Killer and his little doggy pack. They were just adorable. I loved Raff as a character and I really liked reading about his mating with Nereus and Teilio. I liked that even though the mating between Nereus and Raff happened right away, it showed that it's not all sunshine and light afterwards. There is some growing pains involved. I know that the author claims that each of these books are standalone, but I don't think you can fully enjoy them unless you read at least the one or two of the books prior to this one. Any fans of the series will not be disappointed in this installment. I highly recommend it and can't wait for the next in the series.
Sept. 2018 Update: Loved it just as much the second time reading as I did the first. Still love Killer and Raf. Forgot how much I hated Sebastian during the events of this book. Overall, just wonderful.
This is by far one of my favorite series. Lisa Oliver has a way of creating a world of shifters (of all kinds) humans and demi-gods (and Gods) that makes you just accept it for what it is and move on. Her characters are so intricately woven into the book that you don't even question who/what they are. This book was no exception. The tri-mating was very well done, you never thought someone was being left out of anything. Don't get me wrong, everything wasn't insta-perfect and because of that very fact, it makes them even more lovable. Lisa Oliver has a massive win in this series (and so far every book she has written has been just as excellent) Every time I crack one of the Cloverleah books open, it's huge struggle to put it down to sleep!!
A convoluted mess. There are four or five distinct stories (not mere subplots) going on here and the author rambles from one to another. This had been a series about shifters, vampires, and other common urban fantasy elements. So, why not throw in a few demigods, actual gods, an inland merman, a rapist / serial killer, an actual deus ex machina, and (not joking) the Lost Colony of Roanoke? Sorry, there are just too many cases of having to suspend disbelief on the author's whim.
As with the previous books in this series, the author has the characters speaking British English when they should be using the American dialect. She continues having numerous grammatical errors and using words incorrectly.
I am not a huge threesome fan and frankly, I felt that Nereus wasn't necessary to the mating but with him, you are introduced to a number of new, potential characters. I am looking forward to the spin off with Madison. I just hope they are not all BDSM since I am under the impression they will be from San Antonio and Damien's club.
I swear this series has one crazy after another after The Cloverleah Pack! Raff is so sweet I didn't think anyone could be as sweet as Dean. I love that Raff had no problems with his much bigger mates. I really like that they came together without hurting each other. That epilogue blew my mind! I'm praying it comes true!
This book is awesome!! Could not put it down!! Loved how Raff's self confidence builds with help from his mates. Must read!! Can't wait for the next book in the series.
Lisa Oliver keeps blowing me away with this series. I think this may be my favorite on yet. It has danger, love, lust, and so much humor in this bookthat it is hard not to read it all in one sitting.
Raft and Nereus made an appearance in the last book but not much was given away about them other then a crazy man trying to get his hands on Raff because he is a red wolf and believes that he can have pups. Other then that they was only in the book long enough for the readers to want to know more about them. And boy did we ever get that and so much more in this book.
Nereus in a merman and the son of a famous God Poseidon. But he is also the nephew of Death, Hades, and several other famous Gods. Not mention the son of Abraxas the horse of the sun God also. So yeah a pretty unique bloodline. But not only is Raff and Nereus mates, but they have a third mate and he is part of the Cloverleah Pack, Teilo.
Having two very strong mates like Nereus and Teilo would normally make Raff feel small but the opposite has happened now that they are all mated. He feels stronger and more confident because of them. But their is still danger waiting for Raff in the shadows and all three of these men will have to fight the gates of hell to be able to stay together.
This is another amazing read by Lisa Oliver and as always I cannot wait for the next book to come out. If the next book is even half as good as the this one then it is going to be another exciting read.
Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review
Ok, why does this book start off following two different couples and then just kinda forget about one of them? I found the tension between Nereus and Raff to be really synthetic, which tainted the triad when Teilo joined. Also, if you're going to have mermen in a series, you have to show them to the reader, which never really happened.
Adding gods was a risky move by this author and unfortunately, I think it was a step too far. Having many many mythical races in one series is doable, having a pantheon of gods and demi gods is doable, doing both at once is almost impossible. It kinda cheapens a lot of and calls into question a lot of the the past stories.
Overall, I just feel like the author tried pack too much into this book and it didn't work out.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Rare fox shifters, gods, and demigods mingle in this story. Raff has been without a pack for two years and is just about finished when he's attacked. His little dog goes for help, the help comes in the form of members of the San Antonio Pack. Nereus is visiting the pack and his old friends when he sees Raff being aggressively approached in the bar and recognizes him as his mate. For safety reasons Raff and his demigod mate end up in Cloverleah where they discover the third member of their mating. Needless to say there's plenty of excitement and intrigue as the two packs work together to save members who've been abducted and rescue other shifters who've been abducted and subjected to experimentation. A thrilling romance
Poszeidón fia :I
Ami leginkább érdekelt a sztoriban, az Sebastian és Madison története, aminek csak az ízelítőjét kaptuk meg. Kutattam kicsit, van külön könyvük...
The Cloverleah pack is still growing and adding rare members and species. This time it's Telio (one of the 3 wolf enforcer brothers) who finds himself not one but two rare mates. Raff who's a rare Red wolf and Nereus who's the son of Poseidon. I really liked this triad and the epilogue was way funny. I'm so happy that Marius, the last wolf brother, is going to find his fated mate next.
Really enjoyed this one - and I'm trying to decide if I bump it up to 5 stars. Will let my sleep overnight decide. It was insta-mates with the 3 men but spread out as MCs Raff and MC Nereus met initially, with MC Teilo popping up a week or so later.
My biggest gripe was the names - listening to the audio I had trouble picking up exactly what they were. And then one of Teilo's brother's names sounded really similar to Nereus -so I got a little confused at times!
I Loved it it was great man the ending was outrageous I really thought they were pregnant at first wow Wtg Lisa Oliver you had my attention all the way through the book I didn't even want to stop and eat or even cook supper just wow.....
Would be great if the males did get pregnant, since they are huminoid of sorts maybe no more than triplets!
This book was very intertwining and a real hoot at the end. I must admit I'm one that enjoys mpreg and would love to see the dream be a premonition. The paranormals such as the min, far, and demi god I coup KS see causing impregnated mates.
Every time I read the next book in the series I think it can't get any better. And yet, that's what happens every time. Raff is a sweetheart. So strong and brave. Nereus is a perfect mated for him. Teilo being their third completes them. They are a great addition to the Cloverleaf Pack. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Ok I’ve loved every Lisa Oliver book that I’ve read and this is no exception. Wonderful storyline , great characters and great romance what isn’t to love about it. Oh that’s right it has great humour too and suspense. Yep more positives. Do yourself a favour- read the book and the ones that went before it too.
Another fabulous book by Lisa Oliver. I seriously cannot get enough of her books! I devour each and every one! She is fantastic and this latest book is. I exception. I laughed, I cried and I definitely need more. Eagerly awaiting her next book!
Aside from Dean, Raff is just the cutest and I want to cuddle him. But I can't forget about Nereus and Teilo. They get cuddles too. This such an exciting series and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Three awesome characters mated makes for a great read. I love the differences in the mates and how well they compliment each other. And as always Lisa created a world I'm always excited to dive into. Loved!!!
