Jennifer loves reading and writing clean romance. She believes that happily ever after is not just for stories. Jennifer enjoys interior design, rollerblading, clogging, jogging, and chocolate. In Jennifer’s opinion there are few ills that can’t be solved with a warm brownie and scoop of vanilla-bean ice cream. Jennifer grew up in rural Alabama and loved living in a town where “everybody knows everybody.” Her love for writing began as a young teenager when she wrote stories for her high school English teacher to critique. Jennifer has a BA in English and Social Sciences from Brigham Young University Hawaii where she served as Miss BYU Hawaii. Before becoming an author, she worked as the owner and editor of a monthly newspaper named The Senior Times. She now lives in the Rocky Mountains with her family and spends her time writing and doing all of the wonderful things that make up the life of a busy wife and mother.

True to their style, Jennifer Youngblood and Sandra Poole have plenty of suspense and twists in the romantic suspense story. I have to admit that when I began reading about the uber-wealthy man giving extravagant gifts, I was pretty turned off. I kept reading because I’m familiar with these authors’ books and I was not disappointed. The book is full of suspense, twists, and romance. And as always, just a touch of faith. I’m not sure there’s really enough of a faith element to make it a true Christian romance, but it’s nice to read a good clean suspense romance.
The book starts out a little slow for me with Garrett setting his sights on Chloe and giving her extravagant gifts; gifts that I doubt a billionaire would give a girl after just meeting her and having had just one date (meal) together. However, it’s fast paced and after a twist or two the story takes off. Then it becomes a real page turner which I found hard to put down.
Chloe finds herself with two brothers who both have their sights set on her. Not an easy position to be in, especially when one of the brothers refuses to give up and the other is her boss. And add their secrets to the mix and it really gets complicated. I pretty much had Garrett figured out early on, but Hank was a different story. Even Chloe’s neighbors are more than she bargained for. I especially liked Lila’s ‘gift/curse’ as I know people really can possess this.
Chloe is just a few weeks from her wedding when she gets word that her Marine fiancee was killed in Afghanistan. This leaves her in a panic, not knowing what she'll do. With the help of her mother, Chloe decides to move to Utah from South Carolina and pursue her dream of becoming an interior designer. On the day that she's supposedly to be interviewed, her roommate takes her car making Chloe having to take a taxi. As she gets out of the cab, the rain is coming down hard and when she starts to run toward the building her heel catches on something and she falls, breaking her shoe heel and scraping her hand and knee. Now, she has to face her potential boss looking like a drowned cat, wearing tennis shoes she borrowed from the receptionist. T Hank, the boss, gives her 15 minutes and then ends the interview. As Chloe is leaving the building, she literally bumps into Garrett. This is the beginning of a roller coaster of a ride. She starts dating Garrett, who lavishes expensive gifts on her, including a one-of-a-kind pair of earrings. But Garrett starts getting too possessive and Chloe tries to end it with him but he won't take no for an answer. Then Chloe discovers that Hank is really a great guy and though they work together, they start dating. She then finds out that Hank and Garrett are brothers. This starts a roller coaster of intrigue that puts Chloe and the brothers into a dangerous game that includes jealousy, jewel theft, kidnapping, and murder.
I own this book but I listened to the audio version of this book for purposes of this review. The narration was done well and it was fairly easy to distinguish between the many characters "voices".
Chloe had moved to Salt Lake City, Utah from Atlanta, Georgia. She needed a fresh start. Her fiance had been killed in the military and she had learned of his betrayal of her after his death. She had hopes of getting a job with an interior design firm. Her first interview with them went horribly. As she was leaving the business, she ran into a handsome man (Garrett) who wanted to help her so she let him. Amazingly, she was able to get a second interview and was hired. She quickly learned that Garrett had ties to the business run by his older brother, Hank. She began date Garrett but soon became concerned about his possessive nature.
Hank, while handsome, was an austere and cold person; until she got to know him better.
I won't give more of the story away but there is suspense, kidnapping, gambling, jewelry heists, attempted murder and finally a happy ending. Something for everyone!
Chloe was in love with Dan for a long time. He was due back from serving in Afghanistan in a week but he got killed. Then she finds out he another woman pregnant. She decides to movie to Salt Lake City and for a job interview. Her first interview with Hank went badly, but she ran into Garrett. Not knowing they brothers. She goes back to return a pair of shoes to the receptionist, and gets her second interview and the job. Garrett gets to intense and tries to tell him, but also she keeps seeing Dan's ghost and he's in her dreams. She starts feelings things for Hank, but neither realize the Garrett is stealing jewels.
A great read about love and intrigue. This was very exciting for her as she met Garret and thought he was everything until she met Hank his older brother. Falling and then loosing the opportunity to get the job she wanted and then to be offered it again and started working in her chosen field of design. When she discovered the bad things that had happened to Hank and then to loose Garret and have him come back and be kidnapped. This was getting good. This was a free arc and this is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
When Chloe Kensley moves to Salt Lake City after her fiancé dies, and gets a job as an Interior Designer for the Marsh Company. She starts dating one of the owners, Garrett the younger brother, but finds him too controlling, and switches to the older brother, Hank then finds out about his dark past. The plot has some suspense, and mystery involved along with issues of trust and Chloe having dreams and seeing her dead fiancé. An interesting book you must read.
I was drawn to this story because I read the sequel recently, TO STEAL A HEART. I had to go read the backstory about these charismatic brothers and Chloe, who captured their hearts. There were so many twists and turns to this story that it definitely held my interest, even when I knew the basic outcome from the beginning. I really like Chloe and her roommate. The brothers’ stories are a bit far fetched, but their characters are endearing anyway. I really enjoyed this one.
A wedding dress that had been handed down for generations, was the beginning then for Dan to be killed in a roadside bomb. Then Dan sister is telling her his girlfriend in Afghanistan was pregnant. The last straw was of the vivid dreams of Dan. To start a new job, new place, and two boyfriends. All was not what it seem, one had danger on his mind. Good plot of suspense and intrigue
The characters are interesting and well drawn and the story has suspense and romance. I don't usually read stories with ghosts but I can deal with it. But I just wasn't into the fiance/ghost hanging around because he felt guilty for cheating on her in a major way. This book wasn't great for me. But a large part of it was entertaining.
I love mystery, intrigue and romance which this story has a lot of each. The main female character seemed to have a problem with putting herself in many complex situations. Their were other unusual characters in The story also. Faith was hardly mentioned. The storyline was too busy in some ways.
Language: G+ (0+ swears, 0+ "f"); Mature Content: PG+; Violence: PG+ A lack of appropriate-ness of the content isn't what made me put this book down. I simply realized I wasn't interested in the proposed premise and how the story was unfolding. It's not a bad book, as far as I could tell, but it didn't stand out as amazing to me either.
This was. Quick and easy read. Story flowed well and characters were well developed I had one issue with the book,I just could get her seeing a dead fiance...don't believe it can happen, but this didn't take away or add to the story
This was a GREAT book!! It was full of suspence, drama and romance thrown into the mix.You cannot put this down.It kept you guessing from start to finish.I would recommend it to anyone.Wonderful author
She's getting ready for her wedding when word comes that her fiancé has been killed. He also cheated on her before he died. She leaves home to find a new life and meets two brothers who really change her life
Youngblood Poole has done it again. I have yet to read a book that I don't love. Wonderful, exciting, a d of course there is always a twist. I encouraged readers to read everyone of their books.
This is a very exciting and suspenseful story. Chloe, Hank and Garrett are constantly on there guard. And so was I. I just couldn't figure out what was going to happen. Very interesting book.
Great combination of action, godly romance and suspense. Chloe heads to a new life hoping to heal from the pain caused by her old life. Had she jumped from the frying pan into the fire by doing so?
I really enjoyed reading this story. There are more than a couple of twists, plenty of suspense and a fair amount of kissing. The characters are well developed & the plot was definitely interesting. I'll be reading something from this duo again!
Read this one or you'll miss something really good
Wonderful story...exciting, harrowing, quirky, can't put it down! Easy to read. These two authors need to give us more. They are better together than one alone.
Great book. Interesting plot. I could not stop reading until the end. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to read romance and suspense story. Can not wait to read more book by this author.
It’s a pretty good storyline, but just seemed like it stretched out forever…. Jewel thieves and the mob are a big part of the story and the romance wasn’t really the major focus of the plot, like it typically is in a Jennifer Youngblood story.
I really enjoyed this novel. It had the perfect blend of romance, reality and suspense. Be prepared to think you have it figured out only to experience twists.
This book was a great read. It took me two days to read it but only because I had to sleep some. Thanks for letting me get to know the characters in the book.
Great story. The characters were lovable and fun. The action was good and romance a fun read. I love that while a romance and mystery it was a clean story.
