Roosevelt launched a new program, the Civilian Conservation Corps, which put three-quarters of a million young men to work restoring forests and farmland, building infrastructure, and fighting fi res in America s national parks, monuments, and forests. I actually read Corps of Granite: Glimpses of NH’s CCC Camps by Robert Averill but it’s so limitedly published that I couldn’t find it and this was close on page numbers. It was interesting to learn more about the CCC camps in NH and see photos.
