First sentence: Where's the caterpillar? Here it is! Where's the bee? Here it is! Where's the snail? Here it is!
Premise/plot: What you should know about this one: a) It is a board book; b) it is an interactive book featuring felt flaps so you can play peek-a-boo with the characters in the book; c) the final spread includes a mirror so that little ones can find themselves d) this appears to be one in a SERIES of books. This one focuses on BUGS.
My thoughts: This one is simple yet fun. I love the pattern of the question and answer format. I love the repetitiveness of the response "Here it is." This is really only changed for the last spread where the answer is "There you are!" I love the fact that it's a peek-a-boo game. The fact that the flaps are felt instead of cardboard is nice. The colors are bright and bold. Overall, I think this is a good choice for parents to choose with little ones.
This is the cutest little book for a toddler, this one will help the littlies discover insects and what they look like, the little felt patches that they pull back are lots of fun and on the last page there is sure to be lots of laughing.
This edition can be secure to the child's buggy/pram and will keep them very happy while shopping is getting done.
I know my granddaughter would love this little book and I would recommend it to anyone with children.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy to read and review.
I feel a bit Miss Trunchbull about this one (why are all these insects married??) but it's been a real winner in this house. I just change all the honorifics to "the". #smashthepatriarchy
Cute board book with FELT pieces to move and see what's behind-will hold up better than cardboard lift the flap books. And it has a mirror element at the end!
Absolutely perfect for babies and still a favorite of my 15-month-old. The flaps are all felt so even when my kid was like 6 months old he loved feeling the felt. The mirror at the end causes such a delight every time. Highly, highly recommend for babies and young toddlers. There are almost no words, the illustrations are super simple, but kids love this book! They also have like 30 different animals.
Perfect for little chubby hands and fingers who swipe at the pieces of felt within the book and discover a surprise hiding behind!! And then for those of us who have grand babies who like to look at themselves in the mirror, this book has a wonderful finale for them at the end!
Better than "Where's Mr. Duck?" and "Where is the Dog?", because the felt flaps have a bit better context (leaf hiding the caterpillar has a bite mark; ladybug hiding in flower petals)

A lift the flap board book with friendly bugs hiding behind each felt flap that's shaped as part of a plant. A fun book to share with babies and toddlers to introduce bugs.
